Since the poll for this movie and Galaxy Quest were SO CLOSE, I will be watching BOTH!! I may not watch Galaxy Quest next week, but I will make sure to watch it very soon :)
This movie was rented by me on Amazon Prime for all of those who are watching along with me.

2023-02-22 17:01:47 +0000 UTCCan't see more that 40 comments, so sorry for any redundancy: - Dog rescued from the 1st movie was scheduled to be destroyed. - While Ares (Ruby Rose) died, Cassian DID NOT die. you were talking over john saying that the knife was in his aorta and that IF he pulled it out he would die. - "as a professional courtesy" (same as the bowery king's throat slit, 2 scenes later) Watch 3, cause More Dogs, +Halle Berry, you'll love it, then watch "CinimaWins" review has he has an awesome request during. Sorry for plug, but as much as I love watching you experience my favorite movies for the first time in full, and then again on youtube because you catch so much on the 1st go, The CinimaWins review meticulously breaks down minute things i missed, and amplifies what i love so much about my favorites. Thank you for your work, your efforts are appreciated.

The first film acted like it could have been OUR world, but John was always mythologically good at what he does, and the bad guys were always mythologically bad at stopping him. The second film dropped the pretense of realism, and owned the fact that this was always a fantasy, instead, replacing the realism with a slick neon aesthetic, and more action.

That's not the case with the John Wick franchise. Same dedicated group of action/stunt loving creators telling a long form story about the universe they created. Also, to make a lot of money. So, ok, a money grab, too. But, you know, with integrity or something.

You don't need any Star Trek knowledge to watch this. The parody is of sci-fi tropes, there's no barrier to entry.

But there will probs be a john wick 4 just for the money grab. Thats the problem with artforms that are expensive to make like the film is. the burden of profitability.

He stabbed Ruby Rose in the same place, but pulled it out, not extending her the same courtesy. Very fun reaction, be seeing you!

I think I liked the first one better just on a novelty factor, as this one is a lot of revisiting of things, along with stakes I don't care as much about (oh, not a Seat at The Table). But this one has a lot more style. I was particularly impressed that I never noticed a single camera or crew member during the extensive mirrors segment.

2023-02-04 06:13:00 +0000 UTCI'm thinking that's Anchorman, possibly Anchorman 2. But, specifically, it's ... dammit, don't remember his name, the sports guy. Really enjoyed revisiting this one with you. For some reason, it didn't seem to want to stay properly synched up... though was never too bad of an issue. I did notice there are 2 versions on Amazon Prime that showed; one i couldn't watch, which I'd suspect is the US version maybe. It also started with the WB logo for me, which confused me for a moment. Now, hope you'll get to John Wick Chapter 3. Chapter 5 is due out this March apparently. Looking forward to Galaxy Quest too though. I voted for that, though it was a tricky choice. Just figured if that wins, this has a better chance of still getting watched soon too since you enjoyed the first one.

2023-02-04 04:25:34 +0000 UTCYou can stop worrying about the dog..... that's all I'll share regarding Chapter 3. In my opinion, Chapter 3 is a much better movie than Chapter 2. I'm not thrilled with the ending, but it needed to be that way to fully set-up the upcoming Chapter 4, which looks like it has the potential to be the best of all of them based on the trailer. Summary: Watch Chapter 3!

Didn't think much of the third one either and so I'm not really looking forward to the fourth one, with maybe the exception of seeing Mark Dacascos go up against Keanu.

2023-02-04 01:35:35 +0000 UTCI absolutely loved how they expanded the world of the Continental in this movie, showing us more about how the whole system works. As much fun as it was to see Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne together on screen again(and Fish was in FINE form in this movie), the Sommelier is one of if not my favorite character in the entire John Wick franchise. He was SO much fun! And the action in this movie was fantastic. Plus, it was even more beautifully shot than the first one, and the first movie set a pretty high bar. Rewatching it today, when they were in the hall of mirrors I was just amazed at how they kept the camera from showing in the reflections. I get that they could probably erase it digitally, but it's still really impressive given HOW MANY mirrors there were. Unfortunately, where this movie dropped the ball for me was the villain. In the first movie, Viggo was fantastic. The actor who played him(RIP Michael Nyqvist) did a great job, and even though he was trying to kill John, you still empathized with him. He was trying to save his son, after all. But Santino wasn't nearly as compelling. He was just a little weasel who forced John to do his dirty work, then tried to kill him, and for some reason was offended that John came after him? And Ruby Rose's character wasn't so great either. This came out around the time when everyone wanted to put her in stuff, but I always found her overrated as an actress.

2023-02-03 20:24:32 +0000 UTCTwo film nerdy things to point out: 1) The Buster Keaton movie playing on the wall at the start of JW2 was the filmmakers homage to early silent films featuring actors who also were fantastic stuntmen. The filmmakers are firmly staking out their ground within cinema history. 2) The hall of mirrors scene is another homage to โEnter The Dragonโ, Bruce Leeโs most mainstream movie. Needing ends now.

I've never watched a single episode of Star Trek and I've only seen, like, one of the movies (and it was one of the new ones) and that didn't impact my enjoyment at all. I mean, I was very well aware of the characters because I have a pop culture obsession and it's hard to avoid knowing who Kirk and Spock and Sulu and Bones are, etc., but still. It absolutely stands on its own.

This was certainly action packed with a lot of cool sequences. Plenty breaking bones for you Nat. "Assassination Vacation" made me laugh out loud ๐ and your concern for every canine in this movie.
