Let's try this again

Ok, ok, ok.... let's try this thing again and break this tie haha

Comments

Yeah, I love JOHN WICK, but I also love GALAXYQUEST. Maybe she'll work it in for us.

Philip Davetas

I think you meant to say that that new movie "Dune" was inspired by "Star Wars", right?

Thomas Yanez

don't worry about ma dude... with how close they are it can't be ignored and we'll for sure get it eventually.

Foxyguava

dang it........ galaxy quest is losing chat, pull your head in!

Cripkie

I say you watch both a bonus video

Daniel Casillas

I agree that Galaxy Quest is a great movie, but I’m sorry to inform you that you are quite literally the ONLY person in the world that could possibly describe any John Wick film as “boring” 😂 All three are fantastic, and each one builds off of the previous one to become even bigger and better.

PureGonzo

Fellow Questerians, you must help us win this poll! "YOU ARE OUR LAST HOPE! LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLL..." Anyway, with a poll this close it's really just a matter of which Natalie watches first.

MertzRocks

Come on guys, only John Wick 1 it's VERY good, the rest it's boring, the second was "meh", and the tirth one I didn't even finish, the glass room fight scene is EXTREMELY boring, it never ends! Got so boring for me that I stoped watch right there, and I not even borther to watch the fourth one. I vote for Galaxy Quest, it's so much fun! Great cast and very funny!

MrPHead

Well, it's still a difference of over 80 people right now, so not _that_ close. (And I'm of the Galaxy Quest hopefuls here.)

Patrick Armbruster

I only see people sharing there opinions on things, like you are. Only difference is you chose to be a bit of an asshole.

Gryff

Because there are four John Wick films (and, knowing Summit Pictures, there will be many more...), but only ONE Galaxy Quest.

Eric Janssen

Sheesh, so tight

Trent_88

John wick is a pretty meh sequel. Galaxy quest is genre defying, with titans like sigourney weaver and Alan rickman. It’s also really really fun and stupid

Martin

Don’t let internet videos make you very upset

Martin

Why are Galaxy Quest fans crying so much in this thread? I'm sure it will return and win in another poll soon

Thoko

I have seen MANY reactors with no Star Trek background thoroughly enjoy this movie. While knowledge of the original series does inform a few jokes and referenecs, it is really more about being familiar with sci-fi tropes and fandom/con culture which goes far beyond Star Trek.

Thomas Yanez

why not watch both?

giovanni

No need to make things overly complicated. I’m sure the strong support for Galaxy Quest will get it in a future poll, or a surprise drop

Jason Gillman

I really hope she just does a double feature

Lisa Tosti

Very upset. Wednesday was great but I won't be watching John Wick with you. It's Galaxy Quest or nothing...until the next round. (I would have settled for Free Guy, which was apparently never going anywhere. Both are just really fun.)

Jim Lent

I always like pie but if the cake is moist it's good too!

Mannygogou

now that I think about it... It would be possible to have 4 choices for 2 movies... Like this, 1) I vote for movie A, I've only seen movie A 2) I vote for movie A and I've seen both 3) I vote for movie B, I've only seen movie B 4) I vote for movie B and I've seen both movies Choices 2 and 4 get double points!... (Now we just have to trust that folks vote accurately and won't game the system... 🙊lol... okay then adjust it to give 1&2 x2 points and 3&4 get x3 points so the gap isn't much, 1 vs 1.5 This will work because in normal voting someone who dislike one of the choices may vote for the other even if they haven't seen it, and there are other variables like someone could excuse themselves from voting because they don't have a preference and if they did vote for one it would be inaccurate because they prefer both.) (Haha okay wait there is also the existing setup where you are allowed to vote for more than 1 selection - it will probably turn out similar to my idea above because votes become fractional when you select more than one choice. In a non-trivial way it accounts for stronger preferences!, hmm and it could end up more fair.)

Mannygogou

when your choice is in the lead sometimes you don't want to say anything... but it's more likely that fewer have seen Galaxy Quest so it's the underdog. We've all seen John Wick... and it's a smaller subset who've seen both movies... and the comments are coming from those who've seen both and we ask for GQ. The larger group who've only seen JW have fewer comments because they can't compare the two, not having seen GQ. This is just a guess.

Mannygogou

We can have our cake and eat the pie

Ed Green

Sad to see Galaxy Quest lose. That is a work of art.

Travis Starnes

Idk it’s like 51 to 49

John Piazza

It's gonna be JOHN WICK.

Philip Davetas

Being honest, I'll enjoy either film. I just feel that I'd enjoy watching her react to Galaxy Quest more.

Logan Kerlee

How about the winner this week, and the runner up next week?

UngawdlyJish

*poll.

SilentBobFather

Yes she could do both, then why put a pill out? Watch for the loser to be in a different future poll.

SilentBobFather

You realize it’s possible for her to do both, right? 😉

PureGonzo

I’d rather she watches Nobody instead of the John Wick sequels

Dominique Cloet

Galaxy Quest is hands down the best Star Trek movie xD lol Yea, the first John Wick is amazing! The other two are fun but kinda meh. I think Galaxy Quest is only losing because too few people have actually seen it. It's SO hilarious, and with just an absolutely wonderful cast (this was back when Tim Allen was actually decent).

SmokeAndACoffee

Something tells me there may have been other considerations. lol

Byron

I get the fan devotion to the first John Wick where everything is introduced, but I never felt like the second and third added much to the noir. Galaxy Quest is a movie that has everything. In my opinion it’s a better watch than John Wick 2.

L C

There was some poll or other a few years back where I really wanted my choice to win but it only got 48%. My hope after that was for some sort of compromise where the narrow margin was reflected. I don't feel I've had that. But in this case watching the loser as well in the near future would do.

Ed Green

Cake with fruit on it, best of both worlds.

Richard Maurer

I don't expect sequels to be masterpieces. But I do expect them to be at least on par with the first film, and not to think increasing kill numbers and an evermore unbelievable plot, along with the main characters' unbelievable abilities, are enough to carry a movie. I could probably forgive JW2 if it didn't lead directly to JW3, which became so absurd in plot, to say nothing of John's ability to survive deadly injuries, that I could no longer take the whole thing seriously.

Richard Maurer

Agreed 100%! So close and yet so far.

Marc Goldman

I feel like the fair solution is to watch them both, but I suppose my disappointment that JW2 is leading may influence that. I was so hopeful during the poll when GQ was in the lead for most of it, it's such a great movie with so many fun performances (of course Alan Rickman, but also Sigourney Weaver, Tim Allen, Tony Shalhoub...)

Eric Bogerd

Vote for Alan Rickman, always

Thomas Richter

Cake always

Thoko

Pie, always

Gavin Day

I love you

Gavin Day

But the ‘joke’ you need to be ‘in’ on isn’t Star Trek, it’s about out of work actors!

David Olden

I went into 2 and 3 expecting dumb action with stylish kills and interesting locations, and I will do so with 4 too.. Ain’t nothing wrong with having dumb action shot well with some kind of plot to tie things together.. Expecting every movie to be a cinematic masterpiece rivaling Saving Private Ryan will set you up for so much disappointment in life..

Gunnar Rea

It’s a bit like choosing between cake and pie.

Jacob King

I enjoyed Galaxy Quest fir sure. But I'm still so surprised that it has such a following to be tied with John Wick. Lol

Orion Skies

Had to pick JW since it's been way too long since I saw Galaxy Quest which really does mean I should rewatch it, doesn't it?

Johan Sånesson

Both is good.

Michael G. Munz

I love both of these films.

PickettsChargingPort

Clearly the only answer is: both.

nitind

That's Just John Wick fans quoting John Wick " *silence* "

TrackHoodie

Honestly, I've never watched a single episode of Star Trek and I've only seen one of the new movies (never seen any of the old movies). I know the basics just through pop culture osmosis, but my lack of watching Star Trek never impacted my love of Galaxy Quest or any of its references. But again, the pop culture osmosis was always there for me going in so I knew Spock, Sulu, redshirts, etc.

Jeff K

Probably because, as far as I've seen, John Wick 2 seems to have been winning this poll since the beginning (albeit not by a large margin), so people don't feel the need to convince others to vote for it :) . Also Galaxy Quest was not a large commercial success (especially outside North America), so people who liked it want to share what they consider a hidden gem :)

Arronax06

Interesting that there’s basically nobody saying they voted for Wick in the comment here

Jason Gillman

I disagree with having to watch ST first. Also, do you expect Nat to watch the entire Star Trek franchise just so that she can get a couple jokes from Galaxy Quest? Come on. She's a reaction channel and it's a well regarded film. Anyone with the slightest passing nerdy culture awareness or passing knowledge of ST will get more out of it than you think.

THE LORE!!!

Never give up! Never surrender!

Jason Hoppenworth

Hard disagree on needing to see Star Trek to enjoy Galaxy Quest. I've introduced it to many people who were familiar with nerd and convention culture and had only a very very passing knowledge of ST and they all loved it. Besides, what's she going to do? Watch the entire ST franchise to get a couple nods that don't even matter all that much? It's a good flick on it's own and I think it'd get her even more subs.

THE LORE!!!

Yes if they tie again, both must be watched!

Com1xguy

Holy cow, it's still so close! Perhaps a second Double Feature Friday?

JerichoFalls

If I were you Nat, I would just play both movies at the same time! A Double reaction has never been done before until now.

Walter Lopez

BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! - John Wick

Richard Maurer

Wow it's still close lol!

Mike Ortiz

As much as I am a big Wick fan, Picked Galaxy Quest cause very curious to watch Nat's reaction to this very silly, funny movie! Especially to Sam Rockwell and Alan Rickman's performance! Both were gems!

Alan Felicia

I'm sorry JW fans, but JW reminds me of The Matrix - they really should have stopped at one.

Richard Maurer

And don't forget, Star Wars was inspired by John Wick........I think. Oh and make sure you watch The Hobbit Trilogy before Galaxy Quest or you won't understand what's going on.

Richard Maurer

Of the many GQ reactions I've watched, none of the reactors were really familiar with ST, yet all of them loved GQ.

Richard Maurer

No, they're different because even more people are killed than in the previous movie! s/

Richard Maurer

I can tell you what happens in the 2nd & 3rd movies - even more people get killed than in the previous movie.

Richard Maurer

It just gets more unrealistic with every movie until your suspension of disbelief gets up and leaves the room.

Richard Maurer

@dieselbeast SPOILER ALERT!

Richard Maurer

"You can't watch GQ without watching Star Trek!" said to every reactor ever right before they watched and enjoyed Galaxy Quest without watching Star Trek.

Richard Maurer

Lol, that'd be funny if Nat just said, Fine! since you can't decide we won't watch either one!"

Richard Maurer

Lol there are 2 types of people here. People who love to see Nat scream and look away and those who love to see her laugh lol

Adam Block

Ok. If we tie it again, will we be getting both on the same day?

Hairy Potter

Spot on I think. To enjoy a goofy sendup movie you absolutely need to be in on the joke. I'm pretty sure Galaxy Quest needs that context and won't go down well. Its also questionable how well older comedies age, if you take away the nostalgia factor of the viewer.

Kev Martin

1504 votes, same split..

Gunnar Rea

You should really watch Galaxy Quest first, the John Wick franchise is inspired by it.................. Ok, maybe not, but still. Galaxy Quest rules.

Carl Manning

"if you will forgive my impertinence... but I've patterned my life after you..."

Mannygogou

don't forget you can change your vote at any time to flip it to Galaxy Quest insert winky face 😉

Mannygogou

If you haven't watched Star Trek, then much of Galaxy Quest will be lost on you. (I don't remember where you stood regarding Star Trek, but Galaxy Quest is very much an homage to it, and it's fandom.) Maaaybe it works sans context but I've no way of knowing.

Troy B.

I would say watch both, unless you don't want to watch both, in which case don't which ever one makes you not want to watch both. I think a lot of us are on board with either movie. Though I worry that Galaxy Quest might be too "silly" for you, and I'm in no hurry to have one of my favorite movies eyerolled at by my favorite reactor. (Which is also why I haven't lobbied hard for Clue...)

Troy B.

Managed to tie the tie.

Brandon Corcoran

clearly the answer is to do both

Dale Diaz

Galaxy Wick 2 and John Quest

Ulrich Unterbrunner

Both! Plz

Chazza09

Looks like you are going to have to do both. :)

Dethjager

Never give up, never surrender!

David Crabtree

John Q?

SilentBobFather

Vote Chaos. Vote for an even split!

MightyHobo

First one is the only truly good entry of the series. The others have some good action but as movies they’re pretty bad.

Myles Away

JW 4 is slated for March

Gryff

I voted Galaxy Quest. John Wick is good, but I think you'd have fun with GQ...

James Hull

Galaxy Quest happens to be a favorite, so I'm biased. Best Trek movie. John Wick kills a lot of people in a lot of different ways. Fun action but not novel.

Johnny

No John Wick sequels 😝 Once you've seen one you've seen em all!

Ang

NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER!

Gryff

Both please!

Boticus

At this point I guess it's just both Nat ;)

JerichoFalls

Galaxy Quest is a must watch

jahmeltaylor

Or neither 😉

Jan Sørensen

Meant GQ.

SilentBobFather

Voted for JW, because already seen several reactions to GW.

SilentBobFather

I just think of the GOT scene where Theon gets... well what he got, as punishment for when his character did or would do in JW

OnederB71 NLN

Double features are a thing Nat and I think these results show that Double Feature Friday is the way to go here.

Ryan

dang it JW winning?! Lol...just an opinion/suggestion, you shouldn't even need to put JW sequels in a poll (or any sequels for that matter if already reacted to p.1), you should just put it on the schedule based on response to the first one. I mean at this point it's clear you want to watch it eventually and enough people are interested in seeing that. That being said, Im loving the JW series, but it can wait for later, I'm much more interested in seeing a reaction to GQ because it's different and more fun. So come on y'all Galaxy Quest FTW 😂....

Unsecret Identity

I watched very few Star Trek episodes, I can't say I am a Trek fan, though I absolutely LOVE Galaxy Quest

Fostena

WHY do we have to choose ... you can do both (take your time) ... but Galaxy Quest first plz :D

Andreas Sommer

Watching Star Trek will flesh out a few references to make it more entertaining, but being familiar with con culture and sci-fi tropes in general is really more important to getting the most out of the movie.

Thomas Yanez

No, but you miss out on a lot of it.

Lemuel Daher

You've saved us

Nick

Agree on all counts. About the only things I remember about the second one are that Common and Ruby Rose are in it. I can't even recall if I ever saw the third, even though I could have sworn I did.

Jeff K

Honestly, I found the John Wick movies fun but forgettable after the first one; they were entertaining, but I couldn't tell you much about 2 or 3 and I swear I've seen both of them. Galaxy Quest, on the other hand, is endlessly quotable. Plus the documentary they made about it a few years ago is really great.

Arthur Bright

The first one is amazing. For me, personally, they went a bit downhill after that. They aren't bad, but it's kind of like how The Matrix was for me: the first would have worked perfectly as a standalone movie, but it was so wildly successful that they spun it off into a bigger, more complex, at times very weird universe and didn't necessarily stick with what made the first one so good in the first place. Again, just my opinion on the sequels, which are certainly competently made and entertaining enough. I just would have been happy to have the original be a standalone film.

Jeff K

This has got to be a first. A vote-off! Woo. Going with Galaxy Quest again.

Mastervodo

Galaxy Quest fans let’s gooooo!! 😆

Shanice W.

John Wick is fine, but after you've seen the first one you kind of get the point: "Deadly assassin guy battles other deadly assassins"

Steve J

For the life of me I can't get myself to watch John wick, I do enjoy Keanu reeves movies well some not all of them lol but it seems so generic basic pattern, and I can't watch a dog get killed 🤦

dieselbeast

Sadly it looks like John Wick is gonna win here and sure it's sick, but Galaxy Quest is everything. It's got heart, comedy, and drama. For sure you can't let that one pass by. Hopefully you get that one at some point. You won't be disappointed.

Alexander Dashiell

This tie breaker is torture haha

Christian Fierro

No bad option here, though Galaxy Quest is really great. I suppose I don't know how much you've seen of Star Trek though? But most of the jokes are pretty universal, especially since a lot of the classic Trek tropes have been copied in newer sci fi stuff too.

Andrew Howard

Ngl I thought galaxy quest won. Looking back they tied. I don't hate John wick by any means. But I was so excited for galaxy quest. Honestly just do both. The margins are close enough to justify it. Have a nice day everyone :)

Brent giesbrecht

As much as I want to see John Wick 2 I think a better overall reaction will be with Galaxy Quest it's a love letter to Fandom for me.

Zachary

By Grabthar's hammer... what a tie-breaker.

Jeff K

You can’t go wrong here. Both are fantastic. I went with Galaxy Quest as it’s a personal favorite. Alan Rickman god tier.

Robby

I really want Galaxy Quest to win, but... just do both? Make them the next two movies you watch.

Jeff K

Man, a lot can happen in 3 minutes 🤣🤣🤣

Darryl Low

Come on let's not be selfish she gotta get through the John wicks before the new ones come out😂😂

Kyle

Galaxy quest is an awesome movie but really..once you start John Wick you should go ahead and finish them

Steven Clarke

That's not a disadvantage, I'll happily vote for all future John Wicks haha

kikoyito

You don't need to watch Star Trek to enjoy Galaxy Quest. Its very accessible.

Andrew Smith

Galaxy Quest!

Xeph

Stop the vote! :P Ah, too late, it's already at 51/49 80 votes later.

Patrick Armbruster

and probs 4 like a year from now

BlackSheep

211 votes and we're at 51% to 49%. This is going to be interesting. C'mon Galaxy Quest.

matthew h

She shouldn’t watch galaxy quest without watching star trek

Lemuel Daher

At 11:23 Central, it's now 50/50 at 195 votes.

Miles E Coburn

Honestly, both of these are must-watch.

Chief

Why CAN'T you do both?

Miles E Coburn

I want both but really want Galaxy Quest.

Jason Gillman

I heard if they tie again, Nat will watch them both at the same time!!

Garrett

BOTH! But Galaxy Quest 1st.

Adam Doyle

Galaxy quest has the advantage that its one and done john wick 2 will then need 3

Sam J

I guess Darryl commented when 20-30 votes were in. It's gonna change. Only a 110 votes now.

Patrick Armbruster

At 56% to 44%? Tell that to Northern Ireland

Ed Green

GALAXY QUEST !!!!!111!!111

Rek

The tie is now well and truly broken Nat 😄

Darryl Low
