Comments

the queen was trying to tell shuri about the nephew before she was interrupted. they tried to create a great black panther movie but i do feel like they fell short for what they had. the ending fight was bad and the way they did chadwicks send off didnt hit like it shouldve but the movie was decent for what they had after the tragic unexpected passing. the woman king was the movie of the year over this to me. Loved the reaction like always.

BrooksHOF TV

bruh doesn't like an actor because they dont like using humans as lab monkeys. yikes lol

Caleb

Ugh the T’challa flashbacks at the end always get me!!! I can keep it together at every part except that one 😭😭

Amanda Ray

I put off watching this reaction because honestly I didn’t really like the movie the first time I watched it 😅 but I’m actually pleasantly surprised that watching it with you made it more fun, Nat! I guess my big thing is that Letitia Wright is actually my least favourite part about this movie 😭 her anti-vax mentality really put a downer on her for me that I can’t really get past. And I do think this movie was kinda poorly edited/paced, but that just seems like the Marvel standard now with the way they’re churning out so much content too fast. SO glad Namor didn’t die tho, it’s fun to have a recurring villains to build on over multiple projects just like it’s fun to see heroes develop over time, I think Ryan Coogler and everyone involved realises they made a huge mistake killing Killmonger in the first Black Panther and they’re not eager to make the same mistake

Daniel McGuinness

And here I am just waiting for the Big Crunch of the Marvel and DC cinematic universes.

Jim Lent

Nobody told them the rules, no whites after labor day.

AlimonyMoney

The white clothes business is booming in wakanda.

Thomas Richter

Sorry, I can't buy any of this. Water surrounding the field would not, and did not, stop it from burning. Besides, burning is only one danger to the herb, disease or even an earthquake could destroy the herb too, among other things. And Klaue only knew about vibranium, of which the Wakandans have massive amounts, and still needed inside help to get to it. A seed bank or even another plot of herbs could be easily protected, and no one outside Wakanda knew about the herb anyway. The point is the dangers of keeping the herb in one small place far outweigh any danger from decentralizing it.

Richard Maurer

firstly, they weren't anticipating another person burning the herb. As for setting an accidental fire, water surrounds the field where it was grown so that no fire would have happened. The workers there were under strict rules to not let anything happen. Nothing would have happened to that plot because the wakandans know how sacred the herb is. If they did it your way and kept seeds, people like Ulysses Klaue who broke in would have found the seeds and sold them for outsiders to use for their own purposes, having 1 plot stops this. Again, no one has broken into Wakanda, Klaue only broke in because he was given inside help, otherwise, he wouldn't have found it.

Tarquin Pillay

Yes it is sad, and I really think Natalie would enjoy them is she gave them a chance, but she also said in the same live stream that she looked into them and they really didn't appeal to her.

Richard Maurer

Shame about not watching Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk. I understand but I actually enjoyed those, even if I was not the target audience.

Rime Pendragon

I agree the ritual combat thing is odd, but I can see where that being a tradition (granted a ridiculous one) would keep them from changing it. But could it really be a tradition to only have the herb in that one plot? And even if they were that stupidly bound to tradition, you'd think wiser heads would have prevailed and snuck some samples out to put aside. I could definitely see Shuri doing this. It just seems like an unnecessarily dumb plot device to me. I mean I understand why Killmonger did it, but what if an accidental fire had occurred before Killmonger had even arrived? It would be ridiculously short-sighted to only have one plot that could be so easily be destroyed.

Richard Maurer

To be fair, so does ritual hand-to-hand combat on the edge of a waterfall to determine a ruler.

Mastervodo

One thing that has bothered me in both Black Panther films. The Heart-shaped Herb is incredibly important to the Wakandans, but they only had that one plot of them? They didn't keep any seeds in a seed bank? Frozen cultures? A insurance colony elsewhere? This makes zero sense in a scientifically advanced culture like Wakanda.

Richard Maurer

Nat, to answer your question about killer whales being in Boston, they are found from the Arctic Circle to Antarctica, in both the Atlantic and the Pacific. They are actually more common in colder waters but can be found in the tropics too.

Richard Maurer

It's not just the watching, it's the editing, especially for YouTube. That takes time.

Michael G. Munz

I knew from the moment I post my comment that I would not make friends, but I stand in what I believe. Queen Ramona is entirely responsible for everything bad happening in this movie. From going back on her dead son wishes, to open Wakanda tech and resource to the world, to threatening the UN because she went back on the decision of her dead son. To threatening and refusing to help a Nation that's suffering the exact same fate her Nation was suffering. It's just so hypocritical.

Daniel Vezina

Every first respondent is gonna tell you the same thing, in close setting, if you can't get yourself out don't go in, you're no good to any one dead.

Daniel Vezina

Riri didn't keep her mouth shut... she literally said "your mother protected me like i was one of her own" lol. and also Ramonda didn't kill herself. she wouldn't have had to put her own life at risk to save another if Namor didn't throw the water bombs. that was on Namor, not her.

alejandro valles

There's a big difference between putting yourself in an implausibly survivable situation to save a life and killing yourself. In the first instance, you do what you need to do to do the right thing, in the hope of saving a life, and you hope to survive even though you know you probably won't. Killing yourself by contrast is a mark of hopelessness.

Eddie Green

Well, the monarchy stuff is my least favorite part of these movies. Such an outdated concept for what is supposed to be an advanced civilization.

Joe Blankenship

No, that challenge is for king. I know that in the MCU the king and the panther aren't always the same person, but as to how it's determined who gets to be BP (in the MCU) I can't recall them ever fully explaining it.

Richard Maurer

To become the next Black Panther, don't you have to challenge and beat the current Black Panther in hand to hand combat? Shuri didn't even leave the lab in the last movie. I'm just saying. I don't know all the rules though.

Joe Blankenship

That's bullcrap, nice way to keep it from everyone else. The Talokan have the exact same origins has Wakandan, yet they gave the power of the herb to all.

Daniel Vezina

only descendants of bashenga can whidstand the proces of becoming black panther. Thats why black panther is always a member of the royal family.

oscar latorre

Queen Ramona killed herself. She was alive and well after the water bombs. She decided to dive and save a girl she knew for a couple of day, instead of saving her own life. Riri knows what happened, yet she keeps her mouth shut.

Daniel Vezina

So, it shouldn't even have been close. They have the same kind of power. He's a fighter, she's a scientist. The narratives perspective is based on information given by the movie.

Daniel Vezina

I know right, Nakia or Okoye should have taking herb. Or better yet, do like Namor's people and give some to everyone instead of being selfish.

Daniel Vezina

Watch that scene again, I don't cared how you edit it. All theses they brought to the UN should be dead. Stab someone with a 6 inch blade to the chest, I don't care if it make a little shock effect, you're dead. The Wakandan are as much terrorists as he his.

Daniel Vezina

Hey snowflake, when someone is insulting me and then deleting that said comment, it kind of makes me angry. You're the one that came at me, and wasn't man enough to assume what you said. I had to go through my deleted messages to show you what kind of scared little boy you were.

Daniel Vezina

It seems you're looking at it from a narrative perspective based on what you'd prefer. As it unfolded in the story, Shuri wanted the herb to beat Namor to death out of revenge. As far as motivations go, that's about as human and real as it gets, sadly.

Steve

And I didn’t say Wakanda was in the right but they did capture and return the people who broke in trying to steal things so given the choice I would choose them.

Christopher Gray

So your answer is to kill everyone on the ship? You think that is right? And the 5 people who like your comment think that is right?

Christopher Gray

It didn't make sense to me that Shuri would become the Black Panther. M'Baku or Okoye would have been much better choices than the rail-thin scientist in deep mourning. M'Baku is already so protective of his own tribe, surely he'd be a good protector for Wakanda. And Okoye is a great fighter with plenty of charisma to carry the mantle for a 3rd movie.

Joe Blankenship

You sure seem angry at the world Daniel, 40+ year old incel fighting with people in the comments. Maybe you should get some professional help...

Austin

Great commentary, it was a fun rewatch! I think this movie would've been so much more compelling if Namor didn't have the one-note villain mentality and instead the violence was started because of the accidental death during the breakout. A misunderstanding. How it currently is doesn't make much sense. "Oh no, the rest of the world might discover me. I better destroy them all first!" Does Namor not anticipate heavy casualties of his people who can't even naturally breathe above water?! There's still Avengers hanging around bro, what are you thinking?!? Also, I kinda dislike that this movie basically establishes Black Panther juice to not only give you power but all the skills of an amazing fighter.

Slick447

You mean like the Wakandan did, He should've gone to the UN and threatened the everybody that would come close to his vibranium??? Kind of a double standard there, don't you think?

Daniel Vezina

Ok, ya I remember them giving a reason why they changed it up, but I'd have to go back and look it up. I'mma guess they just gonna use multiverse excuse, which allowed Black Bolt haha.

Robert Miller

do you work for the Dole Food Company?

Vincent Valentin

IDK that you can blame the US/CIA/Anyone for "went over his nation/trying to steal your shit" looking for Vibranium when.....literally nobody knows they are there. His entire plan is to surprise the entire world a) of his people's existence and b) then wage war on the entire world. It's fine to view him as a terrorist.

Erik Stevenson

What can I say, Nakia just works better for me.

Richard Maurer

"Yeah, we're trying to steal your shit, but you are the terrorist" - long standing US foreign policy.

Richard Maurer

I loved this movie! A lot more than the first. From the cinematography to the music, it was awesome! I didn't really care for the design of the mech suits, but I understand it needed to be different from iron man. The homage to Chadwick Boseman was done elegantly, rest in power! Thanks for watching this! From someone who doesn't follow Nat in live stream, this was a wonderful surprise!

Lloyd J

Terrorist, before US navy and CIA went over is Nation, He was kind of minding his own business. Yeah, we're trying to steal your shit, but you are the terrorist. LMFAO

Daniel Vezina

I'm talking about Ms Marvel origins, she not a mutant she's a Inhuman.

Daniel Vezina

Namor is absolutely a terrorist and the is movie beautifully shot. But yes I am indifferent on the movie it was too much of a setup of other stuff.

Christopher Gray

Namor is and always has been an ass in Marvel. Certainly you can see his argument, but such is the way with all terrorists. They have only the basic level of a point they use to justify violence and murder. The divers, the people working on the boat, the EMT, the families in the marketplace? Not buying the protecting my people bullshit. Namor is not the good guy in any way in this movie, and not someone anyone should want as an ally. I expect he just wants to use Wakanda in the long run.

Christopher Gray

I hated the songs/music they choose for this movie. Took me completely out of the movie on several occasions.

Thomas Richter

Can y'all imagine M'baku facing the UN? He'll start chanting whenever someone interrupts him. It'll be hilarious!

sharmcant

Really enjoyed watching this with you! When I first watched this however long ago, I really didn't enjoy it. I was still hung up on the movie not having the original Black Panther. I was still hung up on his death. This movie may not better than the original but it's a great one. I really liked the balance with the villain. I could understand why he was who he was and why behaved as he did. It made sense. Much better than the typical fight for power "I'm taking over now!!" nonsense. Like I said before, I've seen this. Which means I knew what to expect emotionally and this still hit me once or twice during the watch. I didn't break down or anything but I did get teary eyed a time or two. Really respect how they chose to respect Chadwick Boseman throughout and not with a single brief snippet at the end. The multiple references all made sense and were necessary. Solid movie!

Logan Kerlee

@Richard Maurer - Letitia Wright has been saying in interviews recently that Shuri and T'Challa had the same training as kids. however, Shuri doesn't currently have T'Challa's fighting ability, and you can see that in this movie, but with training throughout later movies she'll be stronger.

alejandro

few months? they are both a total of about 4.5 hrs.

Robert Miller

There's just so many better options out there than either of those shows I'd rather not waste a few months on them and I'm sure most agree with me

Dante

@Daniel you talking about She-Hulk? I'm not totally following your comment.

Robert Miller

After Multiverse of Madness, they really could have stick with her true origins though. And Bring Squirrel Girl instead of a multitude of useless love interest.

Daniel Vezina

When I saw this in the theater opening night, there was not a sound made by the audience in the entire first 6.5 minutes of the movie through the Marvel screen. Tears were definitely had. Trevor Noah did the voice of of Shuri's AI system. Gotta imagine how hard this was for Shuri. She was also blipped (per Marvel), so she lost her father, brother, and mother all in under 2-3 years. Riri Williams will play the character Iron Heart in the MCU. The hint for that was given when she hammered out the heart shape from the sheet of iron in the lab. You can see T'Challa's son in the movie earlier when the queen visits Haiti. This is the 2nd time the word "mutant" is used in MCU. You haven't seen when it was used first yet. Now go start watching Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk. You will appreciate it later when you have base inforation and backgroiund for the characters in their bigger MCU roles lie Ms. Marvel in The Marvels.

Robert Miller

lol RIP

JerichoFalls

Yeah, New Rockstars is always a good follow up for Marvel stuff. Tells ya all the stuff ya need to know from the comics without having to track down and read them all.

Joe Blankenship

In the end your telling me it's ok to start Wars because someone you love didn't fight his sickness "T'challa" or because someone killed herself, "Ramona". You have every rights to be angry. But if your angry at the world, maybe consult a professional. 'cause the world is not responsible for your own personal pain. I'm over 40yo, it's kind of funny you thinking I never felt the loss of someone close.

Daniel Vezina

@ Robert Miller - True, but the movie version previously never had any real physical fighting ability, unlike the comic version. So the first movie had already changed her character from the comic version.

Richard Maurer

@ Steve J -To be fair that's pretty close to how Namor's character is in the comics He's regularly gone to war with the surface world, but has also helped various superheros and even joined the Avengers, the Defenders, and X-Men, as well as the Illuminati.

Richard Maurer

the war isn't over, Namor is just using Wakanda to build something bigger. and Julia will be back as a lead in the Thunderbolts movie, she has cameos in alot of upcoming MCU content too. she's not just a one and done character!

alejandro

@ JerichoFalls - Sorry but I have to agree with the Marvel subreddit, Love and Thunder is easily the worst thing ever put out in the MCU. In fact it's the only MCU release so far that I actually hate.

Richard Maurer

Nope I never saw her say that, learned from the comments here. Can't catch every live stream of every creator I support ;). Thats why I'm trying to stir up more demand/support for them. It would be disappointing if she skipped them.

Robert Miller

SC and New Rockstars definitely get me all the little details and background info I need.

Robert Miller

Apparently a lot of people didn't watch Nat's latest live stream, or are ignoring what she said. She said she probably won't be watching MM or She-Hulk, which means she's not going to watch them unless there's a big uptick in support for them, which I don't see happening.

Richard Maurer

You know what would have made a good movie, if Wakanda and Namor band together against the world, because of their greed for vabranium, you know common cause as they say. Then at the end he goes too far and they turn on him.

Daniel Vezina

Austin Cahill replied to your comment on Natalie Gold's page. Incel of the day!!!! Austin Cahill replied to your comment on Natalie Gold's page. Don't mistake strong women for bad women. Austin Cahill replied to your comment on Natalie Gold's page. Ever heard of Xena the Princess Warrior, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or even more recently Warrior Nun. No problem with strong Women, when they're logical and makes sense. Sorry for your loss, not sorry if I offended you snowflake, you've been insulting me and deleting your comment all night, but I'm just stating fact. So Prove any of my points wrong, I dare you. The first five minutes and the last scene are Awesome. The rest is just women that are angry at the wrong people.

Daniel Vezina

Dude, as someone whose family is currently grieving, it’s not pretty and it’s not fun, and it’s normal to be angry. When you lose someone that close to you it changes you. I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone and I think the film did a great job exploring the different ways grief expresses itself.

Austin

There is a very good Youtube channel called Screen Crush. He breakdown all the easter eggs and other things you may have missed, for most comic books and other movies. He puts out videos after each movie or tv episode. He brings a lot of info from the source material, with hints but no major spoilers. No, I have nothing to do with this channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_ZvClhV8t0

SilentBobFather

Correct, this is the first one with the plot to work with the actual actor death in real life. The only actor I can recall that has passed was William Hurt who played Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross all the way back to The Incredible Hulk from 2008. He is being replaced by Harrison Ford. It was a major rewrite. According to the original script, the movie was supposed to open with T'Challa coming back from Hulk's snap and much of this battle coming from the perspective of his son if I remember roughly correct. Julia Louise Dryfuss is still building. I have a good feeling we'll be seeing her sporadically for a while.

Robert Miller

Very disappointing to skip She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel especially with The Marvels coming up. Ms. Marvel is easy to knock off in 3 days if she watches 2 episodes each. She shouldn't waste any more time with the now defunct DCU and stick to the MCU until the new James Gunn DC movies ever come out.

REDR58

Nakia is pretty fine with his decision, those 2 just got so angry for no reason.

Daniel Vezina

me too sauce is for the WEAK

devin flynn

FUTURE really?

devin flynn

I may be wrong, but this is the first movie that has had a plot concerning the death of the actor/lead. While being a very nice tribute to Chadwick Boseman, I feel that the tribute got in the way of the story. I believe the original script was written while Chadwick was still alive, and the rewrites are what lead to some disjointed storytelling. !. The war just end. The whole Riri Iron women suit. Months of build-up for the Julia Louise Dryfess character and no payoff. But I liked it. I was waiting for some cringe-worthy editing to bring back Black Panther, especially in the scene where she met Killmonger.

SilentBobFather

LOL...

Joits

Damm bro😂

carlos

I watched a few episodes of Ms. Marvel. I thought it was good, but I don't think I was the target audience. A little too teenagery for me. She-Hulk first episode was just too silly for me. Maybe I'll give it a chance when I'm in a more silly mood.

Marty McGee

I know I'm not gonna make friends, but the Wakadan's women are the true bad guy in this movie. Both of them are mad at the world because T'Challa din't tell them he was sick. The World had nothing to do with this. Then, Queen Romona doesn't what anyone to have Vibranium, gets super mad at Namor because he have some. Namor logically says, after they come for mine they'll come for yours. Fuck you and everything you stand for. Shuri is the worst, so selfish, after learning what Namor people did with they're "powers", sharing the plant with everybody. She build suits !!!!! Not heart-shape herb for everyone.... no, no, ALL the power only for her. Not a coincidence she saw Killmonger, 'cause she's as selfish as he was. o wonder she choose his suits instead of his brother. They have the "rights" to threatened the UN but, Namor can't defend his Nation???? Gender switch this thing. The Princess died, the Prince and the King goes mad at the world, the Princess of a weak nation ask for help to defend against those who they're mad at. Who are you gonna routing for????? Plus no one remember what T'challa said at the end of the last movie, Wakanda, has been cut off from the World for too long, lets open resources and technology to the rest of the world. Nah, lets shout off from the rest of the world. Way to respect a dying man's last wish. He did not forced their hands, Wakanda did, Queen made a distraction so they can sneak in his secret city free, took the guest, killed his girlfriend. But hey, HE can't be be mad what with grief. He didn't killed the Queen, she killed herself saving the problem he had. Shuri's bad, bur Ramona his worst.

Daniel Vezina

So, you're saying M'baku is the king now ??

Daniel Vezina

I would like to throw out the Fast and Furious franchise as a possible watch (poll option), and it'd be opportune timing as the 10th one is coming out in May. Love the dumb fun those movies are, and great characters as well imo. Also, Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes duology lol.

Darchangel

The ceremonial fight is to secure your place as the ruler of Wakanda. The role of Black Panther is separate. It just happens that the last 3 Black Panther's were also seated on the throne.

Connor Ellis

She'll regret it later when asking "what?" "why?" so much about the characters that she would have known. Every other Marvel character got a background of how they got their powers via the movies at one point. This is their background/intro story.

Robert Miller

Welcome to the world of geopolitics

The Dingo

Meh, Natt didnt miss a thing imo

Rey

For once, Richard, you and i are in complete agreement.

Opti_Frog

Steve, If they didnt agree to peace the war wouldve continued and the wakandans were outmatched. Wakanda cant just seize talokans leader and expect the war to be over. Regardless of the deaths hes caused.

jamie jones

mahomes will expose them

ISeeTrees ofGreen

Well at least according to the Marvel subreddit, I have extremely poor taste in movies for Love and Thunder being one of my most favorite MCU pieces after IW and Endgame. So I just might enjoy these haha

JerichoFalls

Thank you! You are the first reactor I've seen get the MIT = a Wakandan Village School joke! It makes me laugh every time lol.

rhaegar

WELP TIME TO CRY

Jamie A-H

Well hey were basically extended introductories. While other characters gave us usually just 2 hour intro movies so they had to cram more in, these gave us about 4.5 hrs for each so they had to stretch it out a bit imo. But both provided a good intro into the characters for those who, like myself, knew nothing about them beforehand. More building blocks for MCU to work with. But ya Wongers+Madisyn for sure haha.

Robert Miller

To be fair neither were that good. SheHulk was entertaining but it did make me want a Wongers and Madisyn show lol

The Dingo

Not to mention potential of future Hulk movies when Marvel gets the IP back for full use.

Robert Miller

Ms Marvel will be important to watch before The Marvels. She-Hulk should be watched just because it is a fun show.

Brian Leonard

Do you know they won't be? Marvel makes all main characters important.

Robert Miller

They are certainly their own flavor and style (like the rest of the D+ shows). Have to enjoy them for what they are and in their context. Don't want to give too much away.

Robert Miller

Shuri becomes the Black Panther in the comics so they were keeping true to that.

Robert Miller

Pivotal? Really?

Thomas Yanez

I'll give the movie this, it has some of the best cinematography we've seen in the MCU. Some of the shots are stunning.

adrianR31

Agreed, this one fell kind of flat for me. Namor kills how many people? (both regular and Wakandan civilian and military) and then in the last 5 minutes they just say "lets stop fighting and live in peace now" and then he leaves? Pretty sure he's somewhere between terrorist and mass murderer, you don't just get to 'go home' after having a change of heart.

Steve J

Wait I eat McDonald's nuggets dry 😭😭😭

Jose Zamora Orellana

Yeah. Hopefully the other creator I follow that is going down the Marvel list will watch the rest. But I think I’m going to check out those shows now since I was waiting for Nat to start. I haven’t heard the best things but going to give ‘em a shot.

JerichoFalls

Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk time! I'm starting the demand! They will be pivotal characters in future MCU. Will watch this reaction later today. Amazing movie though.

Robert Miller

thats disappointing

Robert Miller

Not as good as I had hoped, certainly. Shuri just doesn't work for me as Black Panther. I personally would have prefered Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o) as the new Black Panther, as she has the skills needed to be a warrior, while Shuri was portrayed as someone more comfortable in a lab.

Richard Maurer

Oh dang, I guess no more release order.

JerichoFalls

She said in her latest live stream she's probably not watching either of them. Which means she's not watching them unless there's a huge demand for them here, which there unfortunately isn't.

Richard Maurer

Thanks!

JerichoFalls

All the mehs. All of em

adrianR31

You're safe

The Dingo

Does anything from Ms Marvel or She Hulk come up in this movie? I thought Nat was going to watch those so was waiting for that, but I guess not. Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

JerichoFalls

Finally more mcu

FateMalone

Happy Friday nat won't be watching but wanna wish you a wonderful weekend and hope the eagles can do you proud and be victorious 🤞👍

Ian

Way too excited for this💯👏🏾

Kyle

Waiting all morning for this to drop

Kyle Turning Robe

Happy Feature Friday to you too Nat. Held off on watching this one so that that I could watch along with you and see what happens next in this story 🤗 I enjoyed this movie a lot Nat. The opening tribute to Chadwick was beautifully done with respect. The music score was incredible. Like you, I enjoyed the choral tones. Wow, it was so good. Thanks for today's reaction, and all your work this week Nat. Have an amazing weekend, and I'll be rooting for your team on Sunday 🤗💛
