Also, No "Jump Scare" in the next episode! Very intense and perhaps my favorite episode of the season. LOL! Playing the sequence in the Video Game was a bit intense as well when I first played.

Fun fact: early in the episode, the camera shows briefly the Walkman & a couple of cassettes of AHA (Canadian 80s POP band) & Etta James = song featured at escalator is AHA's hit song "Take On Me" and dance scene between Elle & Riley is Etta James "I Got You Babe".

In the UK I watch it via SKY, and it seems to run at a different speed to Nat's version via HBO. I have to play Nat at 1.05 speed to try and sync them up, then every so often I still have to pause Nat. I had the same problem with Game of Thrones and The House of the Dragon.

Hi Bathu, I think its the anticipation that scares Nat the most, so many times she is pulling the earpiece out because she thinks something is going to happen but nothing does.. I think she has ben scared by the early episodes..

Plus, the music cues are a giant hint when something is about to happen. Since you have subtitles on, you can relax until the subtitle comes up that says "Ominous music plays"

I saw so many spoilers online before watching this and saw stills of the Halloween store when I knew it happened but I was still on edge the whole time. This episode is so sad bc you know Riley turned and Ellie had to kill her, and then thinking back about the video game her and Joel saw...absolutely breaks my heart. I hope Joel gets to know about Riley eventually :(

Yeaahh, this HBO stuff has been super annoying to deal with. I'm in Canada so we have Crave over here, and as long as I've been watching I've been getting the ads but NOT the recaps. Makes it real weird to try to sync up

Regarding the timestamps, I personally don't even use them to sync up the video. Even though the picture-in-picture video is blurred, there's still enough info there (lighting/color changes) to sync things really well. I think you might like the next episode. While it's a bit creepy, there aren't any zombies. :)

Very nice reaction, Nat. This episode was almost a shot-for-shot remake of the game DLC titled, of course, Left Behind. And like others have mentioned, you don't need to get yourself worked up by the infected because they've been reduced by like 90% vs the game. It's more about the experience of these 2 people surviving in this dystopian world and the bond that forms. And if it will ease your watching ability, Ep 8 has no infected.

I do have to laugh at how worked up Natalie gets over the potential of infected, meanwhile I've seen a decent amount of people complain about how little the infected are in the show. add on top of all that, the last time we saw infected before this episode (ep5) she welcomed them to come kill Kathleen. I do have to say that the anxiety is much lower than the 1st 2 episodes. I felt bad watching her reactions in the 1st 2. i could feel her stress through my monitor

It's truly wild that it has the best library of content (IMO) of any of the streamers and the absolute worst app/interface. Half the time mine just stops partway through an episode and I have to exit the app and re-enter to keep watching. Chaotic for watch-alongs haha.

About knowing when something scary happens, so far, like you said, I don't remember a single jump scare in the show, I know that doesn't mean there won't be any in the future, but I don't think it's the type of show that uses jump scares. Each time there was an infected, they showed it to us before the characters on the show could see it/them :) . Still a lot of emotional scenes that hit like a truck though :)

I've never used your on-screen timer for syncup lool, I always use the blurred screen and lighting changes on it to sync up

I just sync to the HBO logo, it's easy even with the blur that's added in the reaction video. No need to stress over this, syncing is as easy as the viewer getting to a standard part in the show, like the logo that plays, then just un-pause when the reaction reaches that point.

Another reaction patreon i watch sometimes will have their show paused at an easy point to sync, and ask the viewer to pause the reaction, and hit unpause when their video gets to that same point i.e. "you will pause this video and when the HBO logo fades completely to black press unpause. Pause Now" Maybe that can help sync things up easily across different platforms.

Don't stress too much on the issues with HBO playing different (or no) ads for different people. It's pretty easy to get synced up with you. I actually use you "conducting" the intro song as a way to tell if I'm close!

Yeah I always use picture to sync up. Specifically cuts. Timers are always different for some reason. HBO is always so difficult because it buffers a lot more than other services for me. Always re-syncing it.

I do similar but I pause immediately when the logo has completely faded to black, and then start up. It’s been pretty well synced every time.

I found using the HBO title screen the easiest way to sync up. I pause on its brightest point and wait for you to get through the ads and previously on then press and its usually a spot on sync.
