This movie could be classified as "a bad movie we love". But I think we still would be ignoring the good stuff. There really isn't anything very sophisticated in the script, structure... But I disagree that it's just the action scenes that are good. There's something special there. The soundtrack, the setting, the camaraderie, the charm of cheesy love interests, the charisma of the characters, the pursuit of perfection, the humor, values such as loyalty to friends and respect for opponents. There's definitely something special there. And I hope to rewatch all of this here one day.

I'm only in 2 other communities outside of this one. But Top Gun is almost always at the bottom of the polls in those communities too. And I'll be honest, it's for good reason. It's one of those movies that had terrible writing/dialogue/plot but we gave it a pass in the 80's because the action sequences were ahead of it's time. You can't give it that pass anymore as it's so behind todays technology. So all you are left with is the terrible writing/dialogue/plot.

Top Gun was huge in the 80s. When it came out everyone raved about the flight scenes and the surround sound. I knew guys in the early 90s in the Air Force building Dolby 5.1 surround systems just for Top Gun on DVD. Now it all seems quaint but back then it was the quintessential 80s summer blockbuster. Even now it's still a fun ride!

Anybody with half a brain should know that those three films aren't connected. They just happen to be made by the same dude. lmao, with that type of logic someone would see that The Terminator was made by the same dude who made Avatar and then be disappointed that there aren't blue aliens in Terminator or cyborg killing machines in Avatar. xD The satire in Robocop is excellent for sure! I'm more of a Terminator fan but that's me. The Terminator is hands down my all time favorite movie. I first watched it when I was incredibly young! Two or three, I believe. I remember seeing it then and getting a Terminator action figure (that I still have!!) and playing with that dude all throughout my childhood. I treasure that thing. xD <3 Anyway, er, yeah, Robocop's an excellent movie! The satire is excellent for it's time and still is today.

I'm with you. Though, I'm still stoked that we got her to react to The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Robocop is excellent (as long as you're wanting to watch the original film and not the new one) and worth seeing. The so-called Cornetto Trilogy is a another good example of 3 movies that don't need to be watched together. All saying this does is make reactors shy away from them, thinking they actually need to watch all 3 to for story reasons, and so hurts the chances of any of them getting watched. These films aren't Lord of the Rings, you can watch any one of them, in any order, without affecting the other two.

Kind of, but definitely covered between dialog and flashbacks. It's pretty clear what everybody's feelings are concerning the previous movies events. If anything there are some iconic shots & scenes that are decades old meme-worthy viewing, but plot-wise I don't thing there's anything to miss.

I assume you’re not talking about me. I don’t mind any of these movies, I’d just also like the jumanji movies to be watched because I love them. And they’re fun action-y movies.

haha I have to go off of what google says and it said "action comedy" keep in mind, I know pretty much nothing about any of these movies and try to keep it that way when picking them for polls

Most people here seem to think it's the worst 80s film made so this movie Is def very under rated in this community when it wins in polls in ptetry much every other reaction community and the reactor ended up living it despite the shit talk about it.

Normally I would agree about the age of the patron and bias towards more recent films but Jump St and Skyfall both came out in 2012

Robocop is a classic just as much as Terminator 2. I watch at least once a year. hopefully we will see Robocop in another sci-fi poll ;) and what about Predator (1987) also a classic action / sci-fi movie :)

I agree. Its not as good as casino royale or skyfall but still worth watching and connects to the overall story arc of all 5 films. Plus it picks up directly after casino royales cliffhanger

I haven't seen 21 Jump Street, but I've seen the other four, and I definitely think Minority Report is the best among them (though they're all good).

21 Jump Street single-handedly ended Kanye West's antisemitism arc so I think it's a pretty culturally important film and therefore required viewing now lmao

I voted “Robocop”. The original from 1987, not the remake. Honestly, all of those films are good, but if I had to choose, I’d choose “Robocop”.

I really enjoy 21 Jump Street but if someone were to ask me what type of movie it is I'd likely just say "comedy". Yes there is action in the movie but there is also action in the Hangover and The Big Lebowski.

It's an action/comedy. From what I recall, it was a surprisingly good movie, but definitely not an "action film" in the same vein as Top Gun or Minority Report (which is more of an "Action/SciFi"). I think if she's gonna do straight action, it should be a Stallone/Arnold/VanDamme type of poll.
