Some Fun Facts: the director, Edgar Wright, next project after this movie was gonna be, Ant Man for the MCU. Wright had actually pitched, wrote, & was ready to Direct the movie however parted ways w/ Marvel months before shooting due to creative differences (Wright wanted a darker movie). Easter Eggs: the movie featured Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Clark Kent (Brandon Routh)! Also, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who played Ramona Flowers, brought out a huge Mallet during one of the fight scene and years later played the Huntress on a movie Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, teaming up with Harley known to carry a large Mallet! LOL!

2023-04-26 03:34:31 +0000 UTCAs far being fresh but still familiar, I'd suggest Ready or Not (think Cabin in the Woods), or LIttle Monsters (think Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz). Familiar in the sense that the associations aren't even that closely related, but they're still genuinely fun and stand on their own like the films I'd associate them with. Thoroughly enjoy these curveballs and hope to see more of them.

(Similar to Game of Thrones) Neither ending would be entirely satisfying because Scott’s not done the work to fix his character. If he has to end up with one of them it’s better that it’s not the high schooler he treated so poorly.

In the comic there is a hole in the moon where Todd punched it and Scott really did fight a hundred guys to rescue Kim when they were in high school. The premise is what would millennial slackers be like in a manga/video game universe.

2023-04-21 23:31:34 +0000 UTCHonestly Nat, the chair is probably the problem. Those "racing" style gaming chairs have terrible ergonomics, especially for the price they ask. I had a Maxnomic for a while. Decent in terms of fit and finish and initial comfort but ruined my already bad back after extended use. Not to mention the chair actually developed a common problem in chairs like this where the backrest is became crooked which made it worse for my back. Since you sit for work so much you should really invest in a true ergonomic chair(and maybe writoff?). Heck you're in LA for now so you probably have a huge market of decently priced, lightly used HermanMiller or Steelcase chairs in your area. I have a used HM Aeron and I would never go back to the likes of a gaming racing chair, especially if I had to sit more than a few hours in it. Save your back any way you can!

There was a reunion on Zoom during the pandemic with a bunch of the cast, the director, and the guy who wrote the original graphic novel, and it featured a full table read of the movie script. It’s still up on YouTube, so you should check it out sometime!

2023-04-21 19:09:20 +0000 UTCThere was a time when most video games that became adapted into movies really weren’t successful. “Super Mario Brothers”, “Street Fighter”, “Double Dragon”, etc. They came off as campy and cartoonish. “Mortal Kombat” the original was a bit like that, but it had a good story and it worked. However, in recent years I think movies and TV shows have done a better job of adapting video games. They’re darker and more serious now, and they’re not campy or cartoonish for the most part. I always thought “Metal Gear Solid” would have been a great movie. Best PS1 game I ever played.

She was up late at night, flipping through channels and landed on the AVN awards! She saw the starlets on the red carpet and decided to go with that! If you look on youtube it shows a clip of her casting. She basically is talking like a porn star!

2023-04-21 16:35:47 +0000 UTCOkay look, Scott Pilgrim has shown up everywhere on my YouTube suggestions over that past week, out of the blue. I don't know why. Probably has to do with the announcement that the cast is coming back for the Netflix animated show. I've watched so many random reactors watch this movie over the last week, the soundtrack is stuck in my head, I watched the full thing again two nights ago thinking "boy, I wonder if Nat or some of my other favorite reactors will watch this anytime soon", and here you are...out of nowhere. There are so many little details in the movie that you'd only catch with multiple viewings. The stars in Knives' eyes at the beginning listening to the band, all the hidden "X"s, the "X"s and hearts in the lights behind Scott and Ramona on the bus after the fight with Matthew Patel (and how they change when Ramona realizes Scott's still wants to date her), just a lot of little details like that all throughout the film. There are even references or outright callouts to what number each ex is (Patel has one chevron on his shirt, Lee has two "X"s on his belt, etc.). And yes, Michael Cera does play guitar. As some others have pointed out here, he had to dumb down his playing in order to match the others who were being coached on how to play. And I agree with you about Hollywood not wanting to take any chances. Scott Pilgrim wouldn't get made today because it's too out there and not based on a hugely popular existing IP. As Edgar Wright said in the cast reunion table read (you can find it on YouTube) during one of the more outlandish parts of the script, "A major studio made this", which got a good chuckle out of the cast. Because we all know they would NEVER take the chance again. We'll not get into how the movie commercially bombed...but you gotta admit, how the heck do you market this movie?

It is so stylistically fun and great performances throughout. They're also doing an anime of this and the entire cast is returning.
