That's great stuff. Never knew that's what it was called, but it goes all the way back to season one, when Ted first mentions to Rebecca the idea of food, etc, taking you back to where you grew up, and then in the dart scene, saying "Barbecue sauce" right before hitting the winning shot to beat Rupert.

2023-07-11 04:57:54 +0000 UTC“I feel like I shouldn’t be here for this” - Nat, multiple times while watching Rebecca’s story, after noting she went to a sex show in Amsterdam. Hahaha. No judgment, I think it kinda underlines what Jan Maas and the wait staff were talking about with how the sex show workers aren’t into it, so it’s fine to watch, while Rebecca and her mystery man didn’t have sex but the intimacy is extremely palpable so it feels like legitimate intrusion. Also: the way this episode ends reminds me that I need to listen to Bob Marley way more often. "Three Little Birds" is guaranteed to put a smile on anyone's face... unless you just lost 5-0, of course.

2023-07-07 15:11:59 +0000 UTCHi happy Ted Thursday! Just wanted to point out two things. Rebecca accidentally mispronounced proost as Proust, a reference to the Proust Effect, the phenomenon of a memory being triggered by a smell. Or in this case, Ted tripping and remembering the bulls triangle strategy after smelling bbq sauce lol. Also at the end, Ted, Beard, and Rebecca are all sitting in the back of the bus in the shape of a triangle. Following their hearts and their guts, filling the spaces left behind and having each other’s backs indeed 🙂

2023-07-06 21:42:02 +0000 UTCThis was a really great episode. I'm Dutch and there were lots of little details that I appreciated. - They actually cast a bunch of Dutch actors and not have some random actors try a crappy German accent. - The episode opens with sports commentator Jack van Gelder, who is instantly recognizable to Dutch viewers. Looked like they filmed at the stadium too. They do playThree Little Birds at Ajax, but usually at half time. - Buying a stolen bike off a homeless man is sort of a Dutch meme. - Beard's Dutch pronunciation wasn't half bad, I believe the actor spent some time in the NL. - That "bicycle path" Rebecca was walking on isn't real. I checked, it's the Raamgracht. It looks convincing, but it doesn't make sense on such a narrow street. - The song the Dutch boat guy was listening to when he first saw Rebecca is a Dutch classic called "Smoorverliefd" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fp91XsnTNXQ which would translate to something like "Madly in Love" :D

2023-07-06 20:04:07 +0000 UTCThe BBQ sauce was the same one from the first season when Ted got the gift box from Henry and it had Arthur Bryant's BBQ sauce. Ted tasted it and explained to Rebecca how it reminded him of home and then asked her if there was any food that did that for her. He also has a picture of the Arthur Bryant restaurant in Kansas as his background on his laptop. He also mentions BBQ sauce during the darts scene after telling the story from his childhood about his dad and how they played darts.

2023-07-06 17:05:31 +0000 UTCWill be mentioned I'm sure and not originally from me but the steps where Colin and Trent had their conversation about coming out was a memorial in Amsterdam to the homosexuals killed during the Holocaust.
