Definitely watch all of the movies on that poll (sooner rather than later) and the suggestions in these comments. Someone mentioned the Truman show. Brilliant movie. Seriously, watch the classics.

I remember about to see P2 as a little kid with my dad and older brothers. At the last minute I chickened out and said I couldn't watch it lol. My mom took me to see Problem Child instead (great comedy). Eventually I saw P2 and loved it, almost as much as P1.

It's a good enough movie that you don't actually have to have seen the original to understand what's happening. Sure, it connects some dots, but even if Nat sees the original she's not going to have the actual nostalgia that a lot of people have for it.

2023-07-14 06:12:16 +0000 UTCIt's not ridiculous at all. The point is that things that scared you as a child don't necessarily still scare you as an adult, or at least they shouldn't. What film it was is irrelevant, you grow up and realize that it only affected you because you were a child and it played on certain specific fears you had at that time. And the violence in Robocop isn't even that bad compared to a lot of action films. Sure, it makes all the "most violent action films ever made" lists but if you've seen the other films on those lists you know it barely even belongs there. You even said yourself that you may have been projecting as you saw it at a very young age - which I'm pretty sure is correct.

I know that was what sent a ton of people off the bandwagon. (I realize it was a scene straight out of the comics, with a slight extra alteration/addition, but the way they handled it as a season finale cliffhanger will be studied in film schools for how NOT to do things.)

Robocop had to be cut several times and re-submitted to the ratings board in order to avoid an X rating because its violence was so excessive and disturbing. Even with its R rating it's still infamous for it's violence. People look at the wolfman today and think it's quaint and charming that it used to scare children. Even forty years after it was released, Robocop stands apart as one of the most violent action films ever made. And I really doubt that Natalie, our little ball of sunshine who hates horror movies and has to force herself to watch three or four of them once a year, is going to have the same reaction to Robocop's violence as you do, someone who is a horror fan and has watched thousands of horror films willingly and enjoys them.

I think that the chances for her to decide to watch a huge series involving something she hates are minimal, but if youv'e seen the series earlier seasons you maybe agree that she would probably enjoy it. The characters and plot are very well written, you get really attached to many of them. I know you like characters and The walking dead has many great ones. If the zombies are too much of a problem I understand, but I think it would do really well for your youtube. I Want you to enjoy what you watch so just a recommend. With the final season out last fall you don't need to wait for future episodes if that's an issue. Hope you see this and love from Sweden, your content and reactions are really fun to watch. :) Maybe put it in a future poll so you can see if your fans would enjoy it. :)

The guy with his skin melting off from the toxic waste gave me nightmares for months, along with Murphy getting dismembered by shotgun fire early in the film.

I do enjoy the soundtrack quite a bit though. I'm not even from the era the movie came out in - I was born in 88. I'll always feel that the movie's excellent and I"ll be the guy that introduces his friends to it.

Daniel and Mr. Miyagi may just be my favorite cinematic friendship of all-time. If she can start the Karate Kid path, hopefully it may eventually lead her to Cobra Kai one day, maybe the best legacy revival of the last 10, 15 years.

It was amazing for the time it came out; the action, drugs, sex, violence, etc... but it's poorly shot, the editing and pacing are terrible, and the script is pretty laughable at times. If anyone other than Al Pacino had been the lead, it would be a no-name film that no one remembered. Still worth a watch just for the sheer amount of references and influence it has on other media, and of course, Al xD

Just a few episodes at a time, a few weeks apart, etc.
