I watched your reaction of 1x1 and 1x2 on YouTube, and came straight over so I could watch the complete watch-along for the rest of the series. Your expressiveness and instincts are fun to watch.

Silver Aeterna

Watch Fleabag with Phoebe Waller-Bridge on Amazon, a brilliant show, and you might see a familiar face in season 2 from Sherlock.

Richard Higgs

How they can afford everything, Miss Hudson is using her loft to launder her "companionship" money, they lived on the money they got from the banker , never paying rent.

Daniel Vezina

you don't remember them getting paid twice now? i think like 30k?

Jack Burton

The sniper dot waS ALL OVER THE PLACE surely not a dead aim

Squ33ky

The music lover and planetarium lover in me can't help finding it amusing that they're putting the music "Mars - The Bringer Of War" by Holst over a narration about Jupiter :)

Patrick Egan

It was about 18 months between 1 and 2. Was brutal at the time. 2 years between 2 and 3 though and that wwait I beleive was even worse lol

Balkyne

Season 2 episode 1 is my favourite of the entire series, can't wait to see your reaction to this episode!!

Keven Zhao

Don't feel too bad about not being able to follow the puzzle-solving, Nat, the show deliberately makes it hard to follow because some of it is just a sort of "magical deduction" that would be unlikely to hold up upon close examination but is loads of fun to hear rattled off in a TV show.

Troy B.

Would have been great, if it only had been one year between seasons...

Moritz Lauer

Sherlock is an amazing show. I'm very happy that you've enjoyed the ride so far Nat! The show continues with this strength for some time, I'm very much hoping that we'll continue on with the show sooner than later. :)

Logan Kerlee

Yeah, probably one of the more famous Jewish folktales

John Cedar

I think this iteration of Professor Moriarty (or just Jim Moriarty here) is at least a little inspired by Heath Ledger's Joker in "The Dark Knight" since he's very comedic yet very psychopathic. He actually fits a middle ground for me of how Joker is portrayed sometimes in comics over the years...usually Joker doesn't want to kill Batman cuz he has a strange (& bizarrely romantic) relationship with him (which I also take from this version of Sherlock & Moriarty); but earlier portrayals of Joker did actually try to kill Batman hence Moriarty's line ("I'm gonna have to kill you someday"). The closest portrayal of childlike glee in this Moriarty is oddly the Moriarty counterpart Ratigan in Disney's "The Great Mouse Detective". I can tell Vincent Price had a blast voicing him.

Trevor S Bright

Yuuup, that's what I was thinking! To be fair, I only had to wait for the 3rd season, not the second

Yani Dodge

Oh yeah! I started watching during the hiatus between season 2 and 3 and ooh was it rough XD Lucky Nat just being able to watch the next episodes immediately

Yani Dodge

Yeah, corporate phones can do all kinds of things, but landlines in homes were very no-frills. You could call the most previous incoming number but that was it.

Rosanne Stewart

If you don't know already, the man who plays Sherlock's brother is one of the creators of the show, along with Steven Moffat.

LionBro

Moriarty was also mentioned by the cab driver in the first episode. A spoiler free explanation of him: James Moriarty has been Sherlock Holmes' arch nemesis since the beginning. Since the original novels by Arthur Conan Doyle. And he typically pops up in most adaptations of Sherlock Holmes. He eventually appears in the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes for example. Batman has the Joker, Superman has Lex Luthor, Spider-Man has the Green Goblin, Harry Potter has Voldemort, and Sherlock Holmes has Moriarty. The ultimate foe. It's two huge brains battling it out. If someone's adapting Sherlock Holmes, then it is highly likely that Moriarty will eventually appear.

Nicholas Sulikowski

Natalie really ought to check out Doctor Who. Not all of it of course, just from Series 1 (2005) and on is reasonable. And then Good Omens. Also David Tennant was in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which she is familiar with. :)

Nicholas Sulikowski

Would also depend on the model of landline. Where I work, the phones have been around since well before this episode aired (I'm in the US), and they have a call log of the last 50 calls. IF you're able to determine the time of the voicemail, you can match it up with a missed call from the same time, as it would say x phone number called at this precise time. But not all landlines have that. I mean, we're talking what a business would have vs. what's in someone's home.

Nicholas Sulikowski

Thanks for this Natalie. Gave me an excuse to revisit a great series.

Troymk1

First and third episodes of season 2 are probably the best of the series

Tay Schumaker

hope you feel appreciative that you dont have to wait the two years we did until the next episode. one of the worse things we had to deal with in them times . 😂😂

Joel

When you get to season three, make sure you don't watch the special "The Abominable Bride" before you watch the normal episodes. On some streaming services, it can play right after season 2 but it's meant to be watched between seasons 3 and 4.

Joel

NAT please watch season 2 Too!!!

Arry

Does the voice of the narrator in the planetarium sound familiar to you? It's Peter Davison, the Fifth Doctor from Doctor Who! Who happens to be producer Steven Moffat's favorite actor in the role.

THE LORE!!!

Always wanted to rewatch Sherlock and now I have a reason to do so.

Sascha Raatz

I see what you did there

Ben Wheeler

As soon as you said Anus Cars that was all I could see. Thanks lol

john Alexander

Maybe she didn't have anyone to trade with and was always stuck with Graveler.

Chris H

Steven Moffat has a show perfect for Natmares. Dracula 3 episodes 90 minutes each.

SilentBobFather

Anybody else kind of surprised Nat hasn’t heard of the golem?

Ben Wheeler

I’m not, just reading the comments for fun. But no, I don’t like the show. Excellent cast though, Cumberbatch really just kills everything he’s in

JD Sharpe

So you don't even like the show itself? Why are you watching the reactions, then?

Rosanne Stewart

I'm watching sherlock again now with Nat and I forgot how powerful Andrew Scott is as Moriarty. Truly an awesome performance. Just brilliant stuff.

LJ Mickey

"That villain from Jessica Jones" ouch that hurt my Nerd Feelings, David Tennant is a Legend! he deserves WAY more than THAT villain xD

Rogier Oude Heuvel

Finally get to see Hot Priests run as Moriarty! Not bad! Moriarty is essentially the antithesis to Sherlock, what Sherlock would be if he “used his powers for evil” lmao. I think it’s supposed to help the audience, and Sherlock himself, realise that “SEE! He might be an asshole but he could be worse!” Also these kind of cliffhangers make me understand why Sherlock fans would riot waiting like 2-3 years between seasons

Daniel McGuinness

You were confused about the roommate not being able to call back the person who left that message. You're probably too young to have had much experience with home land lines, but you could do a call-back to the most recent incoming call. In the States it was by dialing *69, but I don't know what it would have been in England. The Greenwich pips were a series of beeps that the BBC would broadcast to mark the hour. And "pip" is another name for a fruit seed. Doyle wrote a story called The Five Orange Pips in which orange seeds were sent to someone to warn them they'd been marked for death. Andrew Scott is fucking amazing in this role. He goes from silly and disarming to absolutely terrifying in the blink of an eye and his chemistry with Benedict Cumberbatch is perfect. I remember screaming out loud when the screen went black at the end of the episode and the wait for the next season was just torture. Luckily you can watch it almost immediately!

Rosanne Stewart

I’m glad you like it, I just can’t get into it. It’s like a perfect encapsulation of the show itself: lots of flash, not an ounce of substance.

JD Sharpe

BLAME his performance?!? He is absolutely BRILLIANT in this role and it's been pretty universally praised. He's so crazy and mercurial and every bit as intelligent as Sherlock. I can't take my eyes off him.

Rosanne Stewart

Moriarty is the guy the Taxi driver was working for, he shouted his name before he died and that was that. He was also seen as -M" at the end of episode 2 that the Chinese woman was working for.

LightsCameraJake

it’s because they’re each 90 minutes and are super expensive for the BBC. They were also both on different shows and Benedict Cumberbatch was doing a stage production of Frankenstein with Johnny Lee Miller.

djKENTO

Moriarty was the taxi driver's sponsor in episode 1

Dainius Gaižauskas

Yeah it was jarring at first but I came to appreciate it. His Moriarty is very Joker-esque.

Jeff K

(Also on that note, Nat should absolutely watch Fleabag; I'm assuming she hasn't given she did not seem to recognize Andrew Scott.)

Jeff K

theres only three episodes in the season? lol i didn’t know that

TokyoLopez

*Hot Priest has entered the chat*

Jeff K

I liked Andrew Scott as Moriarty in this.

Slaizio

I know Andrew Scott is a terrific actor in other things so I’m going to blame his performance on the writing/directing

JD Sharpe

Happy Thursday Nat. You've been knocking shows out of the park this week 😄 Time for our weekly trip to Baker Street 😊 Another enjoyable mystery, putting it all together. I cannot remember what happens next as it's been a while since I watched this, but it will be fun to find out next week. Been a lot of fun watching along with you Nat. Can't wait for the next season 💛
