A lot of Aangs life force was taken when he was frozen in the Ice. He died sooner than most Avatars would from natural causes.

2023-10-24 03:05:10 +0000 UTCIf you haven't already you should read The Rise of Kyoshi and The Shadow of Kyoshi and might as well read The Dawn of Yangchen while you're at it. I would love for both Kyoshi and Yangchen to get their own series or movies. Such awesome characters and stories behind them.

2023-10-17 16:02:38 +0000 UTCEveryone is dead except for Toph & Katara & Zuko, Sokks is dead lol. I do love seeing an older avatar & Korra struggling with stuff that isn’t bending related cause that’s all Anag struggled with when it came to Earth bending other than trying to get to the fire lord and travel a lot

2023-10-07 22:47:15 +0000 UTCActually there is one person from the old gang who's also gone. In an earlier season Katara made a mention about Sokka being gone, and we haven't seen him yet so it's probably safe to assume he's dead even though I would have liked to have him come around and make some lame grandpa jokes.

2023-10-06 00:54:13 +0000 UTCYou're in the show though, weren't you the kid in the mom's basement who got airbending? Y'all look and seem very similar

2023-10-06 00:08:02 +0000 UTCSo nice to see a reaction where you don't know Toph is going to be there. Unfortunately the trailer for Season 4 of LoK ruined it for those of us who watched it as it aired.

2023-10-04 07:59:10 +0000 UTCI think somewhere deep down in all of us, we had anticipated that appearance at the end (: I think the evil korra image thingy using the chains to snap Korra to the ground was the same move she did to Zaheer in the tornado

2023-10-04 05:34:49 +0000 UTCWhile season 3 is my favorite season of Korra, her journey in this season is what made her one of my favorite characters of either show. Such a moving and powerful character arc, and an excellent depiction of struggling with mental health, this episode being particularly good. And hearing Toph call Korra “twinkle toes” might just be my favorite callback to the original series in the whole show lol.

2023-10-04 04:19:45 +0000 UTCAzula, Mai, Ty Lee, Sokka & Aang are gone. Uncle Iroh is technically gone, but in the spirit world. Katara is the southern water tribe healer and waterbending master (probably), Zuko is the firelord’s father and General Iroh’s grandfather, and Toph is the mother & grandmother of the Metal Clan

2023-10-04 03:59:42 +0000 UTCZuko Alone was one of the best episodes in ATLA and it works exceptionally well as a stand-alone episode. If someone lived under a rock and had never heard of ATLA and you could only show one episode to show how awesome ATLA is, Zuko Alone is certainly in the running for that one quintessential episode. The parallels between Zuko Alone and Korra Alone work on multiple levels. Two characters, both similar in personality and both lost, trying to find their identities. The causes for their isolation is different: Zuko was exiled, while Korra is trying to recover from her trauma. But there are a lot of similarities, including the all important haircut they gave themselves. Even Korra's injury from that "MMA" bout, a swollen left eye, gives her a passing resemblance to Zuko and his facial scar. This parallel also works on a meta level. When the creators of ATLA set about to make LOK, they were heavily influenced by Zuko and his character arc. They were aware of how popular he was and how compelling his story was as well. It's not obvious, but Korra in many ways does resemble Zuko. Both were headstrong, self assured and confident. Both made rash decisions and took foolish risks without thinking things through. Both are angsty, and they both wear their emotions on their sleeves. These creators were determined to make a character that was very different from Aang when they wrote Korra. But they also tried to create someone similar to Zuko.

2023-10-04 03:49:31 +0000 UTCDamn, I forgot how visceral Korra’s recovery is with the literal physical therapy/depressive episodes. Respect to the show for being authentic to PTSD The image of what is essentially Korra’s trauma haunting her throughout the episode, her in chains from her encounter with Zaheer, is so creepy! it’s funny how much of your content has unintentionally lined up with spooky season 😅 Also the episode being titled “Korra Alone” mirroring the ATLA episode “Zuko Alone” - another banger that was so important for a certain characters development 😭

2023-10-03 18:23:51 +0000 UTCTo be fair Sokka is dead too. But I really enjoy season 3 and 4. And I lived hearing Toph call Korra twinkle toes like she used to call Aang

2023-10-03 17:46:21 +0000 UTCI love everything about this episode so much: how they visually represented the idea of being at war with yourself after great trauma, the parallels to ATLA's Zuko Alone, how they drew Korra with less muscle mass, the connection with Asami, and of course Toph--"Do you really believe friendships can last more than one lifetime?". I think it's the best portrayal of what having PTSD is like that I've ever seen put to screen, certainly in animation. Sokka is also dead besides Aang, Katara mentioned than in S1E1. The creators said that Aang died relatively young because he had already lived an incredibly long time, in the iceberg--100 years on ice took a toll on him.

2023-10-03 16:42:44 +0000 UTCThis might be my favorite episode from either show. As someone who’s dealt with a lot of recovery periods in their time, seeing Korra struggle with her own self worth while she’s recovering hits hard. You just don’t feel like a person when you’re that depressed and broken. I’m really glad the creators decided to go this way with her character. And also portray this kind of thing on a children’s network. Also as you said, the music and editing in this episode is stellar.

2023-10-03 16:35:13 +0000 UTCI got goose bumps seeing Toph!

2023-10-03 16:25:42 +0000 UTCYay. Happy Tuesday Nat. Time for more Korra 😊 Damn, this was such an amazing episode and damn, that music score! 🤗 It so interesting having her being her own nemesis. I'm looking forward to seeing how she overcomes her fears. Thanks for a really great reaction today Nat 💛
