Help me pick a NATMARE movie!

I know these don't all fit perfectly together genre wise, but they've all been mentioned a fair amount.

Regarding Evil Dead, I feel like I've heard mixed suggestions on whether or not to watch the first one. So if Evil Dead wins, I will do another poll to determine which one to watch.

Comments

Phantasm. You need to meet the Ball.!!

David Blocklinger

TRAAAAAAIN you're gonna love that one

BZNCP

These are all great picks.

Jason Smith

Yes! I voted for Pan's Labyrinth as well. It's what I was hoping for, but Train to Busan'll be fun. :)

Logan Kerlee

I think pans labyrinth is the most traumatic of them all just because of the scene with the wine bottle. wow.

Christopher Mcconnell

Hopefully watch them all 🤪💜💜

Jenny Lee Villanueva

Woo! Train to Busan is an excellent choice. Pans Labyrinth would be my second. Hopefully, we get that one day (also A Quiet Place 2)! <3

WWW

Y'all really about to make me watch Train to Busan again.

Alfredo Martinez

All these choices are pretty good watches, for wildly different reasons lol. I haven't cried along to a Nat reaction in a while so this should be fun (heartbreaking).

Seph Hernandez

But that’s my point, maybe she watches part 1 this halloween, 2 next then all the rest because it’s all so good. Skipping part 1 breaks my heart. But starting with AoD is definitely not how I’d recommend starting lol

jamie jones

I would love to see a Carrie reaction one of these years. Classic, fun, eerie Stephen King.

Amanda Chickering

y'all are so rotted for this pick lmao

Ariana Mitchell

While I'm with you, I'm disappointed that Pan's Labyrinth isn't leading. It's a movie that I actually enjoy watching. It's a great one!

Logan Kerlee

I'd love for her to react to Legend of Vox Machina! I think that it's a bonus that she isn't a Critter. I mean, she'll be able to see things genuinely for the first time. I absolutely prefer the game to the show but I won't lie, the show is damn amazing and it's a shame that many others haven't reacted to it yet.

Logan Kerlee

Those first 3 are great. Sad they’re getting slept on in this poll.

Colter

She does not have Star Wars 1-6 and Lord of the Rings 1 and 2 available as she does not have the raw footage!

Juliana Montenegro

You need to pay for the Gold tier to see it unfortunately

Anamondaris

does anyone know why i can’t find the star wars revenge of the sith video, is there not a full length reaction and or just the highlights

TokyoLopez

As a lone voice crying out in the wilderness, I again propose The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971). Starring Vincent Price, which says it all.

Daniel Ketchum

I put Happy Death Day - even though it's pretty obvious it won't win. You should really check out this Netflix movie....Blood Red Sky, it would be perfect for the October theme.

Sean

Totally agree!

Becca

Oh, and TtB is a fantastic zombie movie- but ONLY if you enjoy zombie films. Unlike Zombieland, which even non-horror fans enjoyed.

Becca

The one you will like the most is Happy Death Day. However, I think your reaction to Ready or Not would be more interesting. You won’t care for the Evil Dead stuff- it’s a favorite but only to true horror fans. That’s why the mixed reviews. People who aren’t ‘in’ to horror tend to find it just ‘eh’. Pan’s Labyrinth is artistically more respected than the others, buts also more cerebral and just weird. So I’m voting I’m voting for HDD because you’ll like it most, but consider giving RoN a try one day!!

Becca

1 was more than enough.

Richard Maurer

These are all good picks tho. Ready or Not is a lot of fun and Train to Busan is one of the best zombie movies I’ve seen. And Evil Dead is obviously classic.

Razor Bikini

Pan’s Labyrinth is the best movie here but I voted for Happy Death Day because I was thinking about watching it and would be cool to watch it with Nat, but it doesn’t seem like it has a chance anyway lol

Razor Bikini

If the plan is to watch the whole Ash story I'd agree because of how stuff from 1 comes back in AvsED, but if she's only going to watch one of them I'd say go for 2. Honestly I'd love to see a reaction to Army of Darkness just because of how balls to the wall nuts it is. And AoD is the first one I saw, so there's a messed up order for ya, haha

Ben

The conjuring 2 xD

FatLittleButterfly

Nice to see a movie I voted for actually winning. Train to Busan is both beautiful and horrifying.

Richard Maurer

Yes, why would demons do something that evil.........oh, wait a minute......

Richard Maurer

also the movie it follows is real good

Julian Lee

any way we can request castlevania season 1 or legend of vox machina post LOK?

Julian Lee

As for the poll I voted for happy death day I feel it being underrated since it looks like it's not going to win. Oh well maybe one day.

Rog

I'm looking for votes for poltergeist 1982 I just rewatched and it's such a rollercoaster with so many classic scenes. Now some of the scenes are visually dated but others are well before its time. Overall alot of Horror and Suspence with a couple hilarious moments.

Rog

I see I joined just in time! My very first vote goes to Happy Death Day!!! Such a surprisingly great movie (as I see others have already mentioned)!

Pearl Jam

I wasn’t expecting too much from Happy Death Day when I first saw it… but it was surprisingly great!!

Michael Ennis

That’s crazy but I think I actually agree with your takes. Seeing Ready Or Not and Happy Death day on the poll would make sense, despite the sub-genre shift. But yeah, train to Busan does feel really out of place (not quite as much as Pan’s Labyrinth). I wonder how she compiles the lists. I assume she hasn’t seen any of these but I wonder if she has an inner circle of followers or a team who helps out these together. If so, I think they dropped the ball here. I would recomend: Ready or Not Happy Death Day Freaky The Babysitter You’re Next Unfriend It Follows… I’m sure I’m forgetting something. Either way, I hope to see Ready Or Not on another poll. It’s really a good film. Fun enough to be considered in this group but still packed with really solid filmmaking moments.

Brandon Scott

Happy Death Day, Evil Dead and The Conjuring 2 are a must!

Alvin Everett

I mean clearly Pan's labyrinth is the best option

DrLAING

Definitely should give Pan's Labyrinth & Happy Death Day a watch someday even if they don't win. They're both great! Happy Death Day is fun and Pan's Labyrinth is just a good movie.

El_Zilcho22

Train to Busan got my vote because it’s an absolute roller coaster of a good time. Happy Death Day is just as fun but it’s more like that thing that spins you round in circles and goes up and down (it’s also quite tonally similar to Scream). On the Evil Dead question a good deal of the pleasure of Evil Dead 2 comes from the knowledge of Evil Dead. Evil Dead 2 is the Ghost Train obviously while Ready or Not is the Bumper cars. Pan’s Labyrinth is a masterpiece but doesn’t really fit the horror genre and I would never compare it to a carnival ride.

Jacob King

How about 1 and then 2. There is no rule that she only need react to one evil dead film. I dont mean to attack you, but i firmly believe that you need to start with the first one. And the tv show references both.

jamie jones

An excellent suggestion!

Jacob King

Yeah, I feel many films are simply miscategorized these days. It really started decades ago as Sci-Fi became anything to do with the future or space and now "Horror" is anything where someone is killed or the protagonists are frightened at any point. I mean, on this list I would only loosely place Train to Busan in the horror genre because the overall theme is horrifying to think about. Evil Dead I forget, to be honest, but I remember Army of Darkness (The third film in that series) and that is a solid comedy. Ready or Not is a thriller to me, Pan's Labyrinth is something my niece's and nephew's watched as children. Like some older Disney films, it can be frightening for kids, but is ultimately a fairy tale and Happy Death day is a slasher film, so I suppose that can be considered horror in the same way that Fast & Furious can be considered a racing film.

Essero Eson

If I may humbly suggest keeping PLEASANTVILLE on standby in the event that you need a pallet cleanser after Natmare season. It's a happy happy, joy joy, good feelings film with an excellent cast, story and a timeless theme. It's a film that will remain relevant until long the human race has passed on.

Essero Eson

Dude, how is Ready or Not at the bottom of this (especially this) list? It is one of the more compelling, unique and well paced “horror” film of the last two decades. Not to mention that the performances are absolutely S-tier. This movie deserves more love. jmo

Brandon Scott

Wow, I must be really desensitized to horror because I never considered Ready or Not or Pan's Labyrinth to be in the horror genre. I would have placed the former in the mystery /thriller category and Pan's Labyrinth is a children's fairy tale to me. Train to Busan is, of course, the ultimate Zombie survival film. Sure, we'll call it a horror because there are people with zombie phobias, but for the rest of us, it's an action film.

Essero Eson

I know it isn't winning, but I love Pan's Labyrinth. I was just discussing the antagonist with my coworker a few weeks back; his performance was so awesome.

Cody Steele

I'm with you buddy. Either watch the first one or just don't bother.

Darryl Low

Holy train to Busan she has no fucking idea what she’s in for

James Zagame

It retells the first one, yes it's not as in depth but it gives you enough to enjoy 2, which is all in all a better film. I mentioned the comedic thing because Nat has mentioned in previous videos liking horror with comedy elements. Sorry you disagree, I love all the Evil Dead films/show I was just thinking which would be better to react to.

Ben

Those are all solid choices

Matt Gwinn

Ooh, this is a wide spectrum of movies. I like Happy Death Day the most. I think it is the most fun out of all of these choices. I don't think you need the extreme scares.

Christian Rennie

Are you going to watch the Haunting of Bly Manor?? Or Midnight Mass??

Edward

28 weeks later , the descent , pitch black , dog soldiers, warm bodies , life

Aaron Davies

The whole sentence was dumb, but i mentioned the standout part. You 100% miss plot but that much is obvious and doesnt need to be stated as youre skipping an entire movie simply because it does a basic quick retelling at the beginning before picking up directly where 1 leaves off.

jamie jones

1 & 2 work much better together. And 1 is a classic. Literally the only place people say skip one is here on nats patreon. Skipping movies simply because you like the sequel more is ridiculous. And 90% of 2 is a direct sequel to 1.

jamie jones

In my mind RoN and Evil Dead are both 50/50 horror and comedy, whereas Pan's Labyrinth is 50/50 horror and fairy tale.

Jon

It's been a while since I saw 2 so maybe I was thinking more of 1, but I don't recall either being very scary.

Mike Hell

I've seen all the movies on the list and Evil Dead 2 is way gorier than Train to Busan.

K.N.

I just came back to see if I was correct and yep, looks like it's Zombies on a Train. Nat, why do you enjoy punishing yourself so much? A nice, lighthearted horror comedy like Evil Dead 1/2 would have been perfectly acceptable. But nope, zombie-murder-gorefest it is! Can't wait :)

Mike Hell

frick

elgail

zombie movies, natalie's favorite! /s

vlocke67

Train to Busan was amazing.

History Nuggets

I knew Train to Busan would the top dog on this one, it IS a zombie film. 28 day/weeks later is a good pair (zombies) and dawn of the dead (2000s version) mmm zambies

devin flynn

Evil Dead! but the real one not the remake.

Ashley

😂😭

Natalie Gold

Please add "28 Weeks Later" to your next Horror movie poll.

Matt Chris

i created a membership just to vote for happy death day because you had such a fun time with scream and so you wouldn’t be traumatized lol

Jason Reyes

They would all be fun honestly

Troymk1

Happy Wednesday Nat. I did my best by voting for the light hearted Happy Death Day after all the trauma last week, but from what's winning currently it looks like the natmares are only just beginning. Yikes. Have an awesome day 💛

Darryl Low

Says the person who has "extrapolating information to come to a logical conclusion" problems? You're asking which version and then post the answer where it says that won't be decided until a follow-up vote. Your question can not be answered until then, if it even happens at all. Like, literally nobody can answer your question because we all have a vote on the answer? And the fact that you can't put these concepts together or grasp the concept of future events is truly worrying behavior for a "bright boy" such as yourself.

Regi Todd

and getting high af between takes, though that tradition may have carried on to the sequels

Regi Todd

As long as you can make space in your belief system that others can have differing opinions, and who are of the opinion that Natalie's reactions to Train to Whatever will be more entertaining than what Happy Groundhog's Russian Doll Day with whatsherface can offer. And hell, I like Ready or Not too, but I also believe Train to Busan has a more impactful and memorable story.

Regi Todd

moreso than completely ignoring the first part of that sentence where he states a defined reason and then throws in the comical bit as an afterthought? 'Cause picking and choosing pieces of sentences to get angry about isn't exactly the beacon of intelligence...

Regi Todd

Reading Comprehension problems? Point out EXACTLY, where the version of "Evil Dead" is noted. Hint: it's not.

Miles E Coburn

Cool, you pointed out the "failure" in his logic. Ready for yours? The text you copy-pasted *literally* both fulfills the answer he gave, and the question you posited. Unless you've violated the space-time continuum, we won't know until the (potential) follow-up vote as to which Evil Dead is watched. Why are you asking for which version when it clearly states the decision-making process? Does that make sense, "bright boy"?

Regi Todd

Pan's Labyrinth!

Siti Dee

I love Evil Dead, but I voted for Happy Death Day. I think Nat would have fun with that one.

UngawdlyJish

I really liked ED Rise!

Boomcity

The first 15 to 20 minutes of 2 is a condensed retelling of 1 because there was a dispute with the original distributor for the original film.

Boomcity

Voted for Train to Busan even thou its not scary

Anthony Curione

Wow, so many good ones in this poll. I'll hopelessly keep voting for evil dead though.

ShyFaux

Skip because its more comical. Thats stupid af

jamie jones

Everyone who says skip evil dead one is being stupid. Two literally picks up right where one left off.

jamie jones

Train to busun is sooooo good and fun!!!

Josh R

As much as I enjoyed both Ready Or Not & Happy Death Day, they're not scary LOL! More thriller, very fun, & Nat will probably enjoy the "who dunnit" or "Why" aspects of both! Same for Evil Dead, it introduced movie goers to the Sam Raimi's world of weird, campy & cheesy goodness! Voted for Death Day b/c love watching Jessica Rothe

Alan Felicia

Happy Death Day is a sneaky good movie, but Train to Busan is great

MKDurfee

"I know these don't all fit perfectly together genre wise, but they've all been mentioned a fair amount. Regarding Evil Dead, I feel like I've heard mixed suggestions on whether or not to watch the first one. So if Evil Dead wins, I will do another poll to determine which one to watch." So, bright boy, WHERE does it say which version it is?

Miles E Coburn

I feel like most people would say RoN fits horror? I can kind of see where you're coming from but still. I do agree though that PL has enough elements though :)

RationallySassy

Oh wow, I love all of these movies! What to choose!

RationallySassy

Arguably neither is Ready or Not. PL has enough horror-esque parts that it's justifiably appropriate.

Jon

Train to Busan is going to be a very entertaining reaction to watch. And it's already a very entertaining movie. I'll be there with popcorn and a soda.

Skizane

My thought exactly 😆 I think she'd just have a good time with Ready or Not, or Happy Death Day

Victoria

This Friday is a surprise movie (some of us are expecting Friday the 13th) so this poll is for next Friday :)

Danishprince

I absolutely loved Ready or Not and Happy Death Day was so much better than I expected

Luis

Pan’s Labyrinth isn’t horror

Daniel Casillas

The first one is great, there's just the one scene that just... shouldn't be in the movie. But the rest is fantastic, definitely worth watching the first then the rest of the series (including ash vs evil dead which is absolutely incredible).

2 Percent

I’m 40 years old. There’s nothing wrong with me pointing out just how disappointed I am that two of my favorite movies ever showed up on the poll but have the two lowest amount of votes so Nat will probably never watch them.

John Piazza

I never heard anyone talk about skipping the first Evil Dead, weird. The effects are dated, but thats about it, story wise it still great. Now the first remake? well that all depends lol. I personally enjoyed it, but its not necessary to watch persay. All I know is you gotta get to Evil Dead Rise, that was just incredible.

Noctis

I like all the movies here except Train to Busan but that’s because I haven’t watched it. I’m voting for Evil Dead.

Jason Gillman

Is this for this friday? I cant remember if there was a poll last week

Rey

It's still wild to me how many people have never seen Train to Busan. I sincerely hoped after Train to Busan and Parasite, Korean film would start to get the attention and appreciation it deserves. There are so many good Korean and Japanese films that fly under the radar, including the horror variety.

geeageeE

I’d say never skip the original Evil Dead. It was straight up horror unlike the sequels and I remember it being pretty iconic enough in my childhood that everyone was talking about it and daring people to watch it.

John Rando

Train to Busan is one of the best recent Zombie movies IMO, glad it's doing well in the poll!

Erik Stevenson

Isn’t that almost every poll 😂

Bryce Morita

I love Train to Busan, but that movie is going to destroy her. Why can’t we give her Ready or Not? 😂

Bryce Morita

Bring the tissues 😬

doesn’t matter

Ready or Not is the best out of the 4 I've seen, and it won't win. Haven't seen Happy Death Day

Wil Morales

You don't have to be so dismissive. This reads like a child not getting its way. Train to Busan is incredible in its own right.

geeageeE

SO glad to see Train to Busan getting the attention it deserves! Such a fantastic movie 😭 Ready or Not and Pan’s Labyrinth are also exceptional 🙏🏻 I was never a big evil dead fan but I’ll accept you gotta watch Evil Dead 2 if it means we get to watch Evil Dead (2013) and Evil Dead Rise eventually 😂

Daniel McGuinness

That's fair. I know most people would like that. I wouldn't mind that even though I have never seen the original. I really was just hoping if she did watch the 2013 she might end up watching evil dead rise as well

Lobos625

Hmm... do I want screaming Natalie or crying Natalie? That's this poll in a nutshell.

Sean

Totally agree. If she liked Scream she'd like Happy Death Day AND Ready or Not.

Boomcity

Also, Train to Busan all the way here. It's an incredibly good film.

JayF

I also agree. Evil Dead 2 if it wins!

Mastervodo

Evil Dead is optional for watching ED2. I will say that Cinebinge recently reacted to both movies and were glad they had watched ED1 before ED2. If that means anything to you. *shrug*

JayF

While I'd argue that Evil Dead 2013 is the best horror remake since the 80's The Thing, I feel she should start with one of the originals.

Boomcity

That’s horrible! 😭 I’ve never even heard of Train to whatever. Nat watching HDD or RON would be a dream come true entertainment-wise

John Piazza

That is a good one, for sure!

Mastervodo

Yes!! Drag Me to Hell is an underrated Rami Classic!!

Boomcity

Pan's Labyrinth deserves a reaction outside of Natmares, Train is alot of fun but I think you'd honestly jive the most with Ready or Not, especially after that Scream reaction!

Jabari Weathers

Honestly i hope you get through everything listed here

zak

Yes please!

John Piazza

Great pole. But train to Busan is going to be a great reaction so its my choice

Brent giesbrecht

train and pan are both exceptional, tough choice

Wu Sha Ling

Ready or not is one of my all time favorite movies!!

BettleBug

Evil Dead 2 is consistently ranked as the best one.

Scott Ward

Pan's Labyrinth is incredible! But idk if I would put it into Natmares, it just deserves a watch on its own. I'm a big fan of Ready or Not and voted for that. Suspenseful, fun, funny, and original.

Robert Flores

Well unfortunately it looks like neither Ready or Not and Happy Death Day is going to win. Evil Dead would be cool too.

Marcio T

You should only watch the first Evil Dead movie.

Daniel Bukszpan

I'd wager they've been seen by the fewest people since they didn't generate that much buzz. Under appreciated.

nitind

Pan's Labyrinth is STUNNING. Any time Guillermo delToro comes up watch it.

adrianR31

If Evil Dead wins, I'd be firmly in the camp of watching Evil Dead 2 if only because the first one while has cool effects for such a low budget film, the acting is very much "We are a bunch of young college actors doing our first big thing."

Game Wizard001

Doesn't look like it'll win, but I would LOVE it if Pan's Labyrinth got picked, it's such a beautiful movie. The Shape Of Water may have won the Oscar for Best Picture, but Pan's Labyrinth is still my favorite of Del Toro's movies.

Patrick Egan

Pan's Labyrinth is a beautiful tale. Scary but beautiful.

Andrew Zachman

Indiana Jones but instead of snakes it’s “zombies…why’d it have to be zombies?”

Ben Wheeler

Laberinto del faunoooo

Aarón Gómez

Train to Busan is arguably the best zombie flick ever made because it is not a zombie flick

Yimmy Yurner

Why is Pan's Labyrinth so low? A must watch. Train to Busan is a close second

Edward Rahardjo

Extremely disappointed. Happy Death Day and Ready Or Not are two of my favorite movies of all time. What gives people?

John Piazza

RIP to the dreams of watching “Ace of spades Jack of clubs” scene I will pray for Evil Dead original to win next year

Cole Spooner

Train to Busan is a must watch!

Danishprince

Read the post text...

Danishprince

I'd say skip to Evil Dead 2, you don't miss anything plotwise and it's more comical

Ben

Even tho it's technically OK to start with Evil Dead 2, watching Evil Dead 1 does put a lot of things in ED2 in context. Plus ED1 is actually scarier IMO (both films are fantastic regardless...the cinematography in both is just 👍)

Trevor S Bright

Doesn't look like evil dead is going to win but if it does I honestly would just watch the 2013 version. It's a really good remake

Lobos625

If Nat truly loves Sam Raimi then she should make an executive decision and watch Drag Me to Hell which is a Raimi classic ;)

Mike Hell

Evil Dead is so good!

Thomas Richter

Which "Evil Dead" version?

Miles E Coburn

Wow, another REALLY GOOD list of movies! Voted Train to Busan, because it might be one of the best zombie films ever.

K.N.

Train to Busan is the full package, spooks, camp and drama!

Natasha

I don’t think happy death day is going to win any of these polls. But since you liked Scream, check this one out too. It’s such a fun movie

Andy

Are we going to finally get the early Sam Raimi / Bruce Campbell classic? Nat loves Sam Raimi. Pan's Labyrinth would be pretty awesome too.

Mastervodo

Nat you're killing me. Happy Death Day, Ready or Not and Evil Dead?! Can we do all 3?!

Boomcity

Evil Dead 2 is the biggest classic of the series
