Sorry for the late comment, but seeing Tenzin's kids go on an adventure gave some ATLA vibes. It's a nice brief homage to the original adventure while allowing the three kids (but especially Ikki and Meelo) some time to shine.

2023-10-10 21:07:51 +0000 UTCThis episode is one of my favorites because Toph makes you think deep here. 1) Despite being a bender, Amon knew the horrors that benders caused to non-benders, and started the revolution. Even tho he was exposed, that doesn’t mean the revolution is dead. 2) Unalaq is evil, yes, but his spiritual teachings got her more in touch with the spirit world, and he’s mainly the reason she learned from Iroh, Wan & Raava, got spiritbending, and decided to keep the spirit portals open. 3) Zaheer does believe in freedom and oppose world leaders, but the removal of leaders would create chaos. The Red Lotus created chaos in the Earth Kingdom, opening a power vacuum, which Suyin denied, allowing Kuvira, Bataar Jr, Bolin, Varrick & Zhu Li to take advantage (which like Sozin wanting to spread Fore Nation “resources” across the world, Kuvira believes the Metal Clan could stabilize the Earth Empire)

2023-10-10 16:33:44 +0000 UTCi reallyyyy love the different ways korra learns from the past protagonists and how they echo their own journeys!! she learns her spirituality from aang in season one (and when she finally becomes spiritually aware, she loses all contact with him!), she learns how to balance her duty to a nation vs her duty to the world from zuko, she learns how to remain standing and persevere in the face of great tragedy from katara, and how to face pain head on and without fear from toph!! and then unfortunately she was already a feminist so she had nothing to learn from sokka. may he rest in peace!
