My recollection may be fuzzy, but I recall Korra using the Avatar state pretty frequently. She certainly used it more than Aang. I think she even used it to win a race against Tenzin's kids early on.

2023-10-30 03:59:28 +0000 UTCKuvira's powers aren't as spectacular as Amon's or the Red Lotus. She's just a really, really good metal bender. But in rewatching these fight scenes, I've come to see how incredibly technical and efficient Kuvira is. Honestly, I can see Kuvira being a match for Zaheer. It would be like a rematch of Zaheer vs Tenzin, a raw prodigy riding on talent vs a technical, highly skilled master.

2023-10-30 03:57:53 +0000 UTC@Daniel I don't think you're completely wrong. season 1 I can confirm her first time is at the end. season 2 I know there are more moments than what some lists show. she used it to open the 1st spirit portal. after the twins( or spirit, I forget which did it) knocked her into the water she had a flash to wake her up and continued to use it to try calm the spirit before getting eaten. she used it when she entered the spirit world with Jinora. and another flash after she remembers who she is in the Wan episodes. it was bothering me that a video I watched of all her Avatar state moments were only showing 4 or 5 in season 2. i listed 4 and they aren't any of the big ones. for how little she is in the action she proportionately uses it a lot in season 2. 2 episodes are dedicated to Wan and I think she wasn't in the episode prior to those either.

2023-10-20 14:58:09 +0000 UTCI think I’m mistaking every time her eyes glow for her entering the avatar state 😅 cos I more specifically remember her eyes were glowing quite a bit, but that could’ve been something else

2023-10-20 02:45:31 +0000 UTCKorra only entered the avatar state in the last 5 minutes of season 1, she never did it until after she called Aang and got her bending back. season 2 Korra isn't involved as much in the action until she fights her uncle. just a few spirit fights and then she was off to get help and then eaten by that large spirit. she uses it to cheat at the air scooter race but she didn't really have much chance to use it until fighting the dark avatar. if you consider her huge spirit form the avatar state, which I do, then this would still be the season she uses it the most. that was 2 fairly long fights

2023-10-19 16:23:46 +0000 UTCKorra wasn't using the Avatar state at all in season 1. She barely used it in Season 2 and 3.. It always felt like Korra preferred relying on her own strength

2023-10-19 05:39:03 +0000 UTCI always wince that first time Korra gets flipped by Kuvira’s cuffs 😭 that’s ROUGH girl I like that they’re putting more of an emphasis on just how powerful the Avatar State is - and also how she’s reluctant to use it, given her experience in the past. She was using it 24/7 in season 1 like a kid with their first car 😅 but she COULD have taken Kuvira here if not for the unresolved baggage, rip queen it could’ve happened to any of us

2023-10-19 02:32:28 +0000 UTCCan you do Smokey and the Bandit after the Halloween season?

2023-10-19 00:26:38 +0000 UTCKorra at full power could probably stop Kuvira, but I don't think that would do anything at this point. She has too much support. Its true that she is essentially a dictator, but if she hadn't stepped in, there may not be an Earth Kingdom anymore from all the chaos and unrest. No one else was stepping up to maintain peace and create a new governance system..

2023-10-18 08:54:10 +0000 UTCA huge reason Kuvira is one of the better villains is because she is like those figures (Hitler & Stalin). Plus she’s the only villain in the show to beat Korra without something to physically stop her (S1: Amon & the chi-blockers ambushed her and tied her up on Aang’s memorial. S2: Unalaq went to the spirit world physically while Korra & Jinora went spiritually, and he threatened Jinora’s soul. S3: The Red Lotus put platinum chains on Korra so she couldn’t metalbend & they poisoned her which eventually caught up to her in the avatar state).

2023-10-17 22:03:59 +0000 UTCthe best birthday present ever!!! some things i noticed about this episode: - when kuvira forces korra into the air after she collapses, the pose almost directly mirrors the one she was in when she was restrained and poisoned by the red lotus - kuvira vs suyin kind of echoing bolin vs mako in this season! suyin/mako are doing what they think is best by keeping up the status quo (suyin staying in zaofu instead of taking charge of the earth kingdom or spreading her fortune, mako becoming a guard to the next in line for the throne, thereby upholding the monarchy that has ruined the earth kingdom for centuries) and kuvira/bolin taking direct action into doing what they think is right (kuvira.... welll. obviously. and bolin by doing what he believes is taking real action. i think there's something so interesting about both of them connecting with their family's poverty in ba sing se: bolin by joining the force to take over and remake ba sing se, and mako by guarding the man who will uphold it - i understand why bolin was so angry with mako a few episodes ago!!!) - korra finally beginning to find balance between when to fight and when to talk!!! i think for once, given the information she had, she made all the right choices!!! i love that for her!! also idk if you've already filmed it but just a heads up: episode 8 is a clipshow episode because of budgeting issues, so it doesn't have any actual plot to it lol

2023-10-17 19:32:34 +0000 UTCI think part of the reason Korra didn't want to go into the avatar state was because she still fears everything that happened to her. She's got the poison out, so physically she can start healing, but she hasn't actually dealt with the source of her trauma yet--it's still haunting her, like her ptsd. There's also a ton of platinum in those domes, hm, wonder what that could be for. But it's also just very reminiscent of WWI and II, cities dismantling entire infrastructures to keep the war effort going and well-supplied. One other fun fact: Kuvira's banner/flag reads "May she live for 10,000 years", which was the slogan for ancient Chinese emperors that was appropriated by Mao.

2023-10-17 16:13:14 +0000 UTCHappy Tuesday Nat. It's Korra time! 😊 This was a really cool episode. I enjoy the show more when our protagonists are strewn across the world and they are all overcoming their own problems. Thanks for a fun reaction today Nat 💛
