Since you love all things British, as do I, do you have Britbox channel? That is how I am watching the series with you. You should check out some British comedians: Jimmy Carr, Mickey Flannagan, Sarah Millican, Peter Kay....they are great.

Oh the tears aren't in vain Nat. I was fully aware what happens and I just cried a bit due to how good Martin is at acting sad

Balkyne

Surprised nobody mentioned it, but Sherlock doesn't trick Moriarty into killing himself, he really needed him alive to call off the assassins and too late Moriarty realises that whilst Sherlock 'is on the side of the Angels, he himself is not an Angel'. Sherlock would do whatever it takes to make Moriarty recall the assassins, which is why he killed himself. And of course, he didn't realise that Sherlock had a back-up plan...

I joined patreon just because i needed to see all your full length reactions, I watched this live when it aired. From this point until season 3 aired the only thing everyone could talk about was how he did it. It consumed every conversation, people wrote paragraphs of their theories, and a meme overtook tumblr I Believe In Sherlock Holmes. People put it everywhere, #BelieveInSherlock as if we were in the sherlock universe. there was a whole google map to see where people put flyers and posters ,etc with the hashtag. It was a crazy time and i do miss it. I'm so happy to see you enjoying yourself and going through all the same emotions I did and now getting to go through it together. Thank you and i hope you get better soon!

Haha, I remember hopping into the Sherlock fandom during that break, and everyone trying to figure out what happened and how he did it. Looking forward to Season 3 as well! Ep2 is great :)

Nat, there is a quick ~7 minute short between season 2 and season 3 titled "Many Happy Returns". It touches on what the characters are up to between the seasons. If it's not available anywhere official it should be on youtube, if you wanted to see it.

About the question Nat asked at 46:00, Does anyone see things as visually as Sherlock does in the show? I do see things that visually. The show does exaggerate slightly, I'm not like open eye hallucinating. But it can get close. It's a thing called hyper-phantasia. Extremely visual minds eye. The opposite also exists, that's called Aphantasia when you can't visualize anything.

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Take good care of yourself, in my opinion your health is way more important than if a new reaction video will get out on time. Hope you will feel better soon!

Thijs van Drenth

If you really enjoy Sherlock, I recommend the show Elementary with Johnny Lee Miller as Sherlock and Lucy Liu as Watson.

Peter Rynberk

I remember during the waiting period people set up websites dedicated to solving out how he faked his death. there were all sorts of theories and i dont think anyone fully got it. Some people do bits of the theory but no one pieced them all together. The show made us all Sherlock

Joel

Yes, Doyle intended this to be the last Holmes story because he'd grown tired of the character. "The Final Problem" actually introduced the character of Moriarty because Doyle knew that he had to create a powerful villain "worthy" enough to kill Holmes. So the story opened with Holmes telling Watson about the criminal mastermind who had a huge network of spies and blackmailers and assassins while Moriarty himself sat at the center like a spider with his web. Holmes explained to Watson that he'd been tracking him for months and had finally put a plan into place to destroy the network all at once. At this point, Moriarty had lost everything so he would obviously want to take revenge on Holmes. So Holmes and Watson left England to journey around Europe to stay out of Moriarty's reach while the police finished taking down his accomplices. But when they were walking in the mountains to look at the amazing Reichenbach Falls, Watson was lured away by a message about a sick woman back at their hotel. By the time he realized he'd been tricked and rushed back, he found nothing but a note. Holmes had seen through the trick but let Watson go in order to face Moriarty alone. Watson's conclusion was that the two must have struggled and gone over the cliff together. Watson as the first-person narrator mentions attacks on Holmes's reputation after his death by people who had been ruined by the destruction of Moriarty's organization, so Watson was writing this story to set the record straight and protect the reputation of "the best and wisest man" he had ever known. Of course Doyle had to do some serious retconning to resurrect Holmes once he succumbed to public demand (and after The Strand Magazine offered him ridiculous amounts of money) to bring Holmes back to life. I am very much looking forward to the next one! I think I laughed more watching that episode than any other.

Rosanne Stewart

Yeah, Doyle intended this to be the final story of Sherlock Holmes and killed him off. But by popular demand he later revived Sherlock and wrote more stories.

Yee Kao

I knew how this ended and still cried. Amazing performances that made me feel for them

PrayTellCaesar

How did your baby driver reaction do on YT? its one of those films i could never watch a reaction to on YT because of the music. Only watch a patreon fully for that one.

Ashley

"I knew my tears were going to be in Vain" lmao.

TrackHoodie

It's weird, I forgot a lot about this show, but I quite vividly remembered the ending, and parts of the next episode. Impactful stuff, apparently. As others have said, you're soooooo lucky you can quasi-binge this, rather than wait 2 years lmao Heh, being German ruined the naming joke. I don't know if they ever use it in the books, but my brain immediately translated Rich Brook into Reichenbach. So clearly, all you need to do to be cleverer than Moriarty is to be bilingual. Clearly. ... What ARE your non-US demographics, anyway?

Shen V

Doing this re-watch with Nat is a nice reminder: man, Martin Freeman is a really fucking good actor.

Jeff K

John grieving breaks my heart every single time I watch it, even if we know Sherlock is not actually dead, HE thinks he is so I canโ€™t help but cry everytime they show how bad heโ€˜s grieving ๐Ÿ˜ญ I canโ€™t wait for you to watch the next episode/season, Iโ€˜m not gonna spoil anything but you will LOVE the plot and characters ahhh I canโ€™t wait ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Yara M

Nat would definitely enjoy some other British shows, like Fleabag, Broadchurch, Killing Eve

Josh B

Nattie in the intro: "Sometimes its hard to differentiate between a vocal minority and what my audience actually wants" Well thats the very hard dilemma because weather its a show or a movie recommended on Patreon and your Discord that you choose to watch or set in polls, its 100% the vocal minority, compared to the vast proportion of your viewers on YouTube.

LightsCameraJake

It's a shame that Nat as a Reactor has the foreknowledge that the show will continue at this point. When this episode came out nobody knew what to think! We had to wait years for answers. Now we live in even more cynical times; and knowing how this twist is resolved and what comes after this is a bittersweet moment in the show's history.

George Baxter

The short story "The Final Problem" written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, tell about the final fight between Sherlock Holmes and his nemesis Professor Moriarty. In the end Watson is call back to the Inn by a letter about a sick englishwoman which happened to be an hoax, while Sherlock go to face Moriarty, and foot tracks from both leads to the Reichenbach Falls and are presume to have die in the fall.

David Bourgeois

Also if you liked Andrew Scottโ€™s performance here then you should definitely check out Fleabag! ๐Ÿ‘€ he goes from terrifying psycho to iconic HOT priest!

Daniel McGuinness

This was the cliffhanger that made Sherlock fans go nuts ๐Ÿ˜‚ I hadnโ€™t seen it, I knew about the โ€œfallโ€ but not the very end reveal! Those 2-3 years of waiting after this mustโ€™ve hurt ๐Ÿ˜…

Daniel McGuinness

I really did feel bad for the Sherlock fandom. I forget which shows I was watching at the time, but I remember seeing posts waiting for those new seasons to start, and someone from the Sherlock fandom would pop in with "eeeeefffffff yooooooouuuuuu! We're still WAITING!" comment. Was pretty hilarious to watch as a meme-head xD

SmokeAndACoffee

Be very careful when watching the next episode on Prime. For some reason, it automatically starts playing "The Abominable Bride" which is a special episode meant to be watched between Seasons 3 and 4. That episode and its description have season 3 spoilers so try to avoid that if you can.

Joel

YEARS. NATALIE. YEARS. THEY LEFT US ON THAT CLIFFHANGER FOR YEARS.

Juliette

"I feel like I've been manipulated" Yeah that's BBC Sherlock for ya ๐Ÿ˜‚ That theme song is especially manipulative, it's so good.

John Cedar

Have you tried looking into those blue light glasses that you can wear when looking at screens? Idk if they actually help but take care of yourself, Nat! ๐Ÿ˜…

Daniel McGuinness

I hope you feel better. As the episode started and I remembered what happens in the episode, I couldn't wait for your reaction at the end. Now I'm really looking forward to your first season 3 reaction.

Soloydiver

"What the fuck? I'm so confused..." Now imagine being like those of us who had to wait literal YEARS to find out what the fuck happened. (Like, actually two years; this episode aired January 2012, the third season didn't come out until January 2014.)

Jeff K

love the rambly intros nothin to be sorry about!

john takacs

hey nat, I really enjoy your reaction to this series. I' m pretty sure someone has told you this before, but there were two years between the publication of each season and the same time has passed 'in universe'. I' m looking forward to the next season (I think S3E2 is my favorite episode of the whole show)

Florian M

The SPN fandom is *wild*. I still see Jensen and Jared trending on Twitter constantly, for no apparent reason other than SPN fans just love to talk about them. Also: yeah, I doubt we'll ever see any more of this show in any form, but that is, as you said, because of how busy Cumberbatch and Freeman are. I know they've both said they're open to it, but it would have to be a perfect storm basically of them having the time and the story being good enough.

Jeff K

also LOVE the ramblings you go on in your intros! Make 'em longer! Do a whole hour just talking about random shit xD

SmokeAndACoffee

Oh geez... yea this show definitely has a following! Lol... I wasn't a super fan, but I got caught up in it a bit. Especially after this particular cliffhanger episode. It was a few years before they finally aired season 3, and the fanbase was going nuts! Doctor Who, Sherlock, Supernatural are/were like... THE BIG THREE fandoms. I think the Sherlock fans have gotten a bit less vocal/visable since I'm pretty sure they won't be making anymore seasons, or if they do it will be very limited as Cumberbatch and Freeman are, i'm sure, quite busy

SmokeAndACoffee

Such a good show! Cant wait for next season

Ridley

Andrew Scott is really so good as Moriarty. And that leads me to suggesting, if Nat hasnโ€™t already seen it, Fleabag. Incredibly funny show, and heโ€™s fantastic in it. Also: he's on the long list of "oh shit, HE was in this?" actors who were in Band of Brothers. (Alongside, for those who either haven't watched it or didn't realize it, people like James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Tom Hardy.)

Jeff K

I hope u will continue this series

Arry

Happy Thursday Nat. Looking forward to watching more mystery ๐Ÿ˜Š oh boy, it's this one.... ๐Ÿ˜ฎ This was the big episode that had my brother and I debating for yonks how it was done, and when the series came back the theories started flying ha ha. Really enjoyed watching this one with you today. Take care of yourself Nat ๐Ÿ’›
