Eh, I think without Korrasami taking this first step those other shows would’ve all had similar problems. It’s because of Bryke doing as much as they could here that, years later, other showrunners could fight for their couples to get better representation. But it’s still always fuck Nickelodeon.

Jenny D

That wasn’t why the show was moved to online only. That happened because of the Earth Queen’s murder. Either that episode or the one right after was the first one to not air on television.

Jenny D

YES! I hope Natalie sees this. It's the real ending to the show, since the producers of Nickelodeon wouldn't allow it. The link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylU-ksQP4FE

Outcast Spartan

You should read the comics! Or react to the live reading of them where the VAs read it!!!

Aquivity .-.

This episode didn't even air on TV at the time of its release bc two women staring at each other was too gay for Nickelodeon. None of the finale episodes did, they were changed to streaming only about two weeks before the air date. Executive meddling was insane. Anyway, no one posted a link (that I've seen? I didn't click every reply) of the turtleduck-boat date art which was the first "official" art we got off them together on a date so here, it's adorable. https://www.tumblr.com/bryankonietzko/112732303027/turtle-duck-date-night-this-is-my-piece-for-the?source=share

Wayfaring Seamstress - Megan Kelly

In the comics Zhu Li is so much more important, i'm glad she got some more attention there

B9B

Least they didn't force it into the story tho I don't mind it being subtle but its there and im fine with it just some shows force relationships too much for no reason

Narutoanime16

There are comics that pick up right where this episode ends and they are 100% together. Which is what the show writers always wanted. And their hands aren't tied in the comics like they were for the show. I love that Natalie said she got lesbian vibes from Kora in season one lol so funny!

Kelsey Schromm

I mean, the hints are all there from the beginning of S3. The side-eyed glances they continuously give one another, the scene where Asami tells Korra she's there if she needs *anything*, where the framing of her grasping her hand exactly mirroring the scene in S1 where Mako grasps her hand (in which he realizes he loves her), that they only write to each other, the compliments and blushing... The ATLA fandom shipped Katara and Zuko with FAR less to go on than Korra and Asami.

Geoffrey of Monmouth

Can't get enough of Parker!

FatLittleButterfly

At least we have the comics!

FatLittleButterfly

Absolutely second Leverage! One of my go-to comfort shows!

Alexander Brown

It wasn't fan service, it was a desire the showrunners wanted to make explicit since season 2 but were not allowed to pursue because of the network.

Hannah Saadallah

My biggest disappointment is that this show didn't come out like five years later than it did. Shows after this, Steven Universe, adventure time, she3 ra, owl house...all of them were able to show queer romance. But studio interference made this one have to be so subtle it didn't become real until the end. I hate Nick for making the showrunners make Korassami implied rather than an actual thing.

Hannah Saadallah

I always saw Korra and Asami getting together was a bit of fan service and felt forced to me. It just didn't click with me. I'm glad the fans that wanted it got it in the end. Over all I really enjoyed the the show. I hope the Netflix show is decent.

UngawdlyJish

Nat totally called Korra being bisexual in the first episode of season 1 Maybe episode 2 season 1

Green Nolan

I loved this reaction series! I am happy that you really got into it in the last two seasons. Its true that Legend of Korra has its issues, especially with the pacing in seasons 1 and 2, but I nonetheless actually enjoy Legend of Korra more than ATLA. I think its the maturity of the themes that makes the difference. The emotional impact just hits me harder in Legend of Korra than ATLA does. Fun fact: you thought Asami was sus in season 1? Thats because initial drafts of the story had her actually accepting her father's offer and becoming an enemy of Korra. Another element in the story that was changed was Mako's sacrifice. Early drafts had Mako dying in the season 4 finale, but this was very badly received, so they changed it and had him survive. There is another show that, in my opinion, has a lot of similarities with ATLA and Legend of Korra, and that is the She-Ra reboot from 2018. Comparing She-Ra with ATLA/LOK, I would say that She-Ra's writing quality is similar to Legend of Korra, but much more consistent (so no problems with pacing like LOK had with season 2). It has similar emotional highlights to LOK, but it has a heavier focus on character development than LOK does. Maturity wise I would say it falls in between ATLA and LOK.

Omegastar

The comics really develop their relationship and he becomes the husband enamored at his successful girl boss wife that ends up running as president and beating Raiko. I totally love the arc of Zhu Li Moon from assistant to President.

Sammeh

I remember when she showed interest into mako she said she thought korra would be a lesbian lol. well close enough

Mathies

Natelie do you remember that you predicted Korra to be into women in like episode 3? you were like very surprised she was into mako haha

Mathies

you should watch invincible for your next animated show

steezo jckson

im so glad i got to rewatch this with u, it makes me love korra even more :) hopefully ur next series is gen v since it connects to s4 of the boys!

Grace Severi

yeh i definitely do lmao, but also im pretty sure in s1 she said something about thinking korra would be into women

Grace Severi

Personally, I preferred Korra. Maybe its the bending, maybe its the more mature storylines, but if I were to pick a series to re-watch, it will always be LOK. I just feel more in tune with the character growth and changes over the series and how they portray different points of view. Suggestions...... I haven't seen a lot of people watch this so.... Leverage (TV series) think ocean eleven meets robinhood in a tv series. Dark Matter (TV series) one of my favourite sci-fi show. Group of 6 people in a spaceship woke up with no memory of who they were, and they are going to figure it out, The Orville (TV Series) Basically a silly version of Star Trek but surprisingly good. The Good Place (TV Series) I think you watched this already?

FatLittleButterfly

I think I read somewhere they wanted Korrasami to happen sooner but was afraid of the lashback (back then....) that could affect future production of the shows.

FatLittleButterfly

You gotta read the comics! xD

FatLittleButterfly

the ending couldnt be anymore perfect!!!! everytime i end this show i just feel happy and whole, everyone gets a happy ending/beginning of their future lives. SO GOOD!!!

BabyJDizzle

If your planning on doing anymore animated tv shows Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood is a great one. Its about the same length as Avatar and is really worth the watch.

Carson elliott

Can you watch a Ricky Gervais show? Like Afterlife or Derek?

LionBro

A note on Kuvira: It is nice that we got some development on her at the eleventh hour, but sadly her backstory episode was the one that got cut, thus necessitating the "Remembrances" episode. So, we would have gotten a lot more on her, probably some sweet flashback action. Perhaps in the comics...

Michael Mammano-Cheydleur

Though they are spelled the same in English, the kanji used for Hiroshi and Hiroshima are different. Hiroshi means "generous." Hiroshima means "wide island."

Michael Mammano-Cheydleur

Glad you enjoyed the ride! Has been a lot of fun rewatching along with you! Also the end of this show is supposed to parallel the end of ATLA where Aang and Katara kiss, minus the kiss cause Nickelodeon said no. It was later confirmed by the creators and explored more in the comics.

Stephanie O

Good thing I paid my Patreon today. Finished Korra and watch catch up on some Sherlock.

Kyle Turning Robe

Clone wars as the next animated show 🫡 get my girl on a poll

Daniel McGuinness

This sounded more rant-y than intended BUT I loved the show, loved the finale, and it was great getting to dive back into the Avatar universe with you Nat! 🥳

Daniel McGuinness

Yes that crumb of Korrasami at the end was the confirmation that they are a couple 😅 a great moment, but it still feels like they should’ve ended with a kiss! It’s interesting that among all the prevalent political themes of the show it also manages to touch on real life issues like representation, cos we were really eating up the scraps Nickelodeon were throwing at us back then 😭😂 and saying thank you! We’ve definitely made a lot of strides in representation in animation (She-ra, Steven Universe, Adventure Time) but it’s funny to think about how scared they were(/are) to show a gay kiss on tv! Still better than Disney’s representation of introducing their “First openly LGBT character” for the 15th time, and it’s a lesbian background npc in 3 frames 😀

Daniel McGuinness

Anyone else remember, I think it was in the beginning of s4, when Nat made an off-the-cuff joke about, "What if Asami and Korra got together?"? Was I the only one who was like, "...*cough*..."? Honestly, I loved watching along with Nat through TLOK, but that comment made me SO anxious for her to get to the end!

Sean Irvin

And in a couple years we'll have even more ATLA content to watch! ^__^

Daniel Drew

If you have seen The Boys, you need to watch Gen V (it ties into season 4). They wrote Korra to be the very opposite of Aang. She’s a prodigy because she’s the Avatar, she was headstrong like Toph, she was protective like Katara and she was hot-headed like Zuko. Korra is the most interesting character in ALL of Avatar, with Zuko right behind her. I love that Korra didn’t kill her 2 best enemies (Zaheer & Kuvira), and they are complete opposites of each other. Varrick is so over the top that many of can’t help but like him, and his growth from saying “no” to Kuvira, to appreciating and marrying Zhu Li made me cry too. “Remembrances” was supposed to be the Kuvira episode, that tackled everything.

Alvin Everett

Regarding Korra and Asami (aka Korrasami), the creators confirmed their relationship after the finale aired. It was a big deal when it happened back in 2014, being fairly revolutionary for a "kids" program.

Jordan Malloy

one niche thing i'll miss from these series' is you going from tears to perfectly singing the nickelodeon intro lol loved watching this for the first time w u nat. the characters were all fleshed out and so lovable. i especially loved the writing of aang, katara, and toph as parents and the writing of lin, su, tenzin, kya and bumi. im not a comic girly but u bet im reading the korra comics. korrasami forever <3

Ariana Mitchell

I love this show so much! Thank you for taking the time to watch and react to it. It has been enjoyable to watch the show again. I would say the comics are very good if you are interested in Korra and Asami's journey after these last episodes! If you are looking for another show that is like LOK, I would look into Shera and the Princesses of Power on Netflix. It's definitely worth it to watch and it is funny while also a little similar to ATLA and LOK.

weiscom27

The LOK comic book opens with Korra and Asami kissing in the spirit world. Made me feel some kind of way. Don't get me wrong, I love the Aang Gaang, it is a great show, but I find myself watching Korra more readily than A:tLA. I find the maturity and heaviness of the series' overall themes easier to dive back into.

José Amador

it was such a great experience watching you watch this show for the first time! i got emotional all over again at the end, haha, also Korra and Asami are officially a couple they just couldn't show much with it being a kid's show on Nick but the story goes on in the comics

Ashley

You can read the Korra comics now!

FatLittleButterfly

Nat: "is he [varrick] guna do".....all of us: "THE THING?!"

Paul St Marie

love what the show creators gave to me because i couldn’t make my own show, but as a result of nick stalling their seasons this show is always a huge “what if this happened instead” in my head, the animation feeds my imagination into my own stories, fights, stakes, but i do love it for what it is and sharing the story and experience with y’all

TokyoLopez

recommending the social network movie hopefully for a future poll

TokyoLopez

Korrasami, with all Nick's meddling, crawled so that every other queer animated pairing afterwards could walk.

Geoffrey of Monmouth

Ahsoka as the new show to watch would be amazing

Ridley

For a new show, gen v or invincible. Both are great and recent and still trending.

jamie jones

I'll eat crow and say that this show, mostly seasons 1,3,4, but even parts of season 2, is so good. I was adamant to never watch the show since I love ATLA so so so much. But Korra proved me wrong. I love Korra, Bolin, Asami, Mako and Tenzin so much. They definitely made as much an impact for me as the best of ATLA.

Andy

The creators confirmed the ending implies Korra and Asami are a couple!

K.N.

Korrasami best couple!

Danishprince

Sadly they couldn’t make Korra and Asami a couple in the show but their relationship was confirmed by the creators Which makes sense cause it’s a kids show in the early 2010 thankfully animated show’s now are more comfortable with representation

Malak☆ملاك

The night the finale aired, people were very upset we didn’t get a kiss, so I remember it clearly. There was also some denial from the other shipping teams until the creators said “nope they’re together.”

K

Ahh okay.

Chris Henderson

Fan made

K

Still don't know why they cut out the kiss on Netflix or was that fan made.

Chris Henderson

It sounds like it's already in your headcanon, but the creators have confirmed that the intention was for Korra and Asami to be a romantic couple at the end. The scene with the handholding at the end was the most they were allowed to show to allude to it. Here's Bryan Konietzko's tumblr post about it if you're interested: https://bryankonietzko.tumblr.com/post/105916338157/korrasami-is-canon-you-can-celebrate-it-embrace

Jack

And like I said Verrick is literally Tony Stark Zuh Li is Pepper Potts lol.

Chris Henderson

To add insult to all the crap Nick pulled, they brag about their first bisexual main character in Western kids’ media every June. Yes Korra and Asami are on a spirit world date.

K

This was my first time watching this show and it was awesome watching it with you, Nat. I hate how Nick didn't give the writers more confidence. To think how the show could've been. If they didn't have to worry about the next season. You should read some of the comics.

Chris Henderson

Watching Korra with you and all the Golden Nuggets was such a fun ride. I remember being in high school when the show first aired, and none of my friends watched it. Although not the masterpiece that ATLA was, I fell in love with all the characters and the world that the writers expanded on. Favorite Natalie line (about Kuvira), "You are not that deep or complex honey." I hope the mystery sponsor is Hulu, and that we're watching The Bear!

Tapiocca

Not going to lie I may have lol-ed at Nat’s panic between the end of the show and the outro

Ben Wheeler

i hated varrick at the start of s2 but the dynamic of him and zhu li as pathetic loser man and girlboss extrodinaire turned it all around for me

icy honor

Hi Nat, looking forward to whatever you choose to watch next.. Also I bet you was on the edge of your seat watching The Birds yesterday!!! GO BIRDS...

Baggie Mark

Gen V or OPLA next!

IbuikMaster

Hoping for Gen V or Loki season 2 next

Declan Molloy

The vines didn't fight back, the vines became ammo and the cannon basically couldn't turn off

Evan

Yes god please what a great Sci Fi show

Mike Hell

So psyched for Prey on Friday!

Patrick Egan

A sponsored opportunity, hmmm now im trying to wonder what its gonna be

Rey

Really hoping the new show is Gen V🙏🏼🙏🏼

BettleBug

If you're looking for another full series to watch I'd like to recommend The Expanse. I think it's streaming on Amazon Prime.

Giancarlo Ubaldino

Andor please🙏🏼

Bobby Kraus

IM GONNA MISS THIS SERIES SO MUCH this is my 3rd rewatch with you i had so much fun

Malak☆ملاك

Happy Monday Nat. Hope you had a great weekend, and your nerves are back to normal after that 4th quarter yesterday ha ha Damn, what a game Nat 😄 So awesome that you've got a sponsor for your new show. Can't wait to watch it next week, but we've got some incredible stuff to keep us going this week in the meantime 😊 What an absolutely stunning finale Nat. A lot of emotional moments that really hit hard and as always, all the characters doing their thing and being heroes. Asami's father's sacrifice was so sad but beautifully done. And Korra having that one extra final push to save the day was just a wow moment. Your summing up of the series was as insightful as ever. Really enjoyed watching this show with you Nat. Thanks for a great double reaction today 💛

Darryl Low

Gen V next 🙌🏾
