Sherlock didn’t try some stuff he’s been a drug user for years. As he was in the books.

And the twist at the end about red beard was a gut punch. I loved it and it explained why Sherlock both uses drugs and has an affinity for making close friendships. Also why he has a determination to be a detective and solve crimes. Even though he doesn’t remember it, euros and red beard motivated him to solve unsolvable crimes as a vocation.

I love season 4 and final problem is my favorite episode. It’s Sherlock going full horror. Saw meets ring with some silence of the lambs added. I love that Sherlock made his personality as a suppressed memory euros. He acts like her, pretends he is her, but he’s not that’s why he’s conflicted emotionally.

Anyone think we can convince Natalie to watch Doctor who (at least some) only asking because of Sherlocks overlapping fandom

Robert Emmett

I'm sure others have mentioned it, but I hope you watch The Abominable Bride. It's a stand alone Sherlock episode that's a lot of fun, kind of like a Christmas episode.

Keith Jacobsen

I was looking forward to your reaction to the Mary reveal. I was not disappointed. Next to your "high-pitched laugh that only dogs can hear", your surprise/stunned look is always worth the wait. I also agree that the 4th season is a good one. Maybe not great, but that's relative to the other seasons.

Soloydiver

That neck crack sounded painful.

Troy B.

he said it’s unlikely they’ll ever meet again, because Mycroft said that the mission will most likely end fatal for Sherlock and “Mycroft is never wrong“, so this was practically a death sentence. Sherlock went on that plane expecting to die and really never see John again 😭 keep that in mind when you watch The Abominable bride, it pick up right at that point!

Yara M

“the abominable bride“ is a full normal episode! I‘d say it’s important to watch it before season 4, I really hope you will for the story to be complete! 🤍

Yara M

Yes — The Aboninable Bride is definitely a full episode of the series, not just a "bonus feature." It was aired as a special episode, but is definitely a must watch before going into season 4!

William R Coughlan

Nat, please watch The Abominable Bride before season 4. That's the bonus episode people were talking about. It's not the bonus BTS content S3E4-S3E7 that you see under season 3. You need to specifically type it in the Prime Video search bar for find it.

Yee Kao

Because it was a holiday special

Daniel Drew

She's watching it on Prime Video and on there "The Abominable Bride" is not listed as part of the Sherlock series. There seems to be bonus behind the scene stuff (S3 E4 - S3 E7) so I think Nat might be thinking those were what people were referring to when they ask her to watch the bonus episode.

Yee Kao

NAT BE SURE TO WATCH ADOMINABLE BRIDE BEFORE SEASON 4!

LightsCameraJake

Sigh maybe one day…

Ben Wheeler

the folks that 'don't watch because lack of perfect makeup', do you even really want them to be a part of your audience anyways? audience is self selecting based on what you do, if you do one thing then people will show up for it, regardless of what it is.

Joey Johansen

I agree! I just think people didn't like the crazy shift in tone but I think it worked.

Derek Taylor

gotta watch 'The Abominable Bride'

alexmiller

The Abominable Bride is amazing, almost the BEST episode. And unpopular opinion... I enjoy season 4. Obviously, it's not as good as previous seasons, but 100% worth it just to get this incredible team back together.

Shannon Turner

WAIT what if the new show next week is Invincible 😮‍💨 just in time for season 2 airing 👀 I won’t be mad 🤞🏻

Daniel McGuinness

You definitely should watch The Abominable Bride, and it’s not really bonus content. It’s pretty important stuff, and the YouTube audience would definitely be missing out if you skipped it

Lucky Dragon ‘She.They’

Oh, and that bonus content is just behind the scenes stuff, Abominable Bride is a special full episode of the show that ties seasons 3 and 4 together. As I said before, a must watch. You will absolutely dig it Nat.

Eric S

Abominable Bride next!!

Eric S

This. I agree.

Eric S

There was, in fact, something about Mary.

Daniel McGuinness

Watching Ahsoka without first having watched Clone Wars or Rebels is pointless honestly, it’s like watching Return of the Jedi as the first star wars movie 😭 I’d love her to get to it eventually but it needs the full story 😅

Daniel McGuinness

Hi Nat, lovin’ the Sherlock reactions and looking forward to Season 4. Also want add as I’m new to this Patreon lark, if your looking for another British series to get into on Thursdays once Sherlock is done, please please please consider Peaky Blinders. You will not regret it. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

Harrisoasis

Abominable Bride is definitely a full episode of the show... not sure why its not counted

George Baxter

shut up Nat your beautiful that is all lol

Justin miner

Sherlock is a drug addict. It's alluded to a few times in the show. Mostly, it's just nicotine, but he has a history of more serious drugs. Mycroft knows that, so that's why he was very concerned at the start of the episode. Also, about the end: Mycroft estimated that Sherlock would die after 6 months, and as Sherlock said, he's never wrong. So Sherlock was saying goodbye to John knowing he was going to his death. But he didn't tell John to spare him the pain. There is an episode that goes between seasons 3 & 4. It's called "The Abominable Bride", and you have to search for it separately on Amazon. I highly recommend watching it because it does tie into the plot. Also, it's just a good episode. I am in the camp of people who don't like season 4 overall, but I still think you should watch it. There's some good moments.

JJ Hamrick

The bonus Episode is cool and Season 4 isn't that bad except maybe the last episode

Morschois

BTW, Sherlock Holmes in the original novels was definitely a Drug Addict, Whenever he was between cases he would often partake on whatever drug he could get his hands on.

Rogier Oude Heuvel

I'm glad, you liked it so far. what you refer to as 'bonus content' is probably ''The Abominable Bride''. For some reason it's labeled as 'Season 0' on Amazon (at least here in Germany) but it is a part of the story-arc and it does a good job of tying seasons 2 and 3 together. I hope you find the time to watch it. I've heard Season 4 isn't as well liked as the previous seasons, last time i've watched it, I really enjoyed it, we'll see how it holds up.

Florian M

Aaaand now we need to watch Ahsoka

Ben Wheeler

Yep... that neck crack is your body saying "Welcome to your 30s, Nat!" It will become a more common sound that you get used to, don't worry. xD

SmokeAndACoffee

Pretty much everywhere i've seen Sherlock streamed, that episode is part of the running order anyway. I think she'll see it.

Jeff Clark

Wow, you guessed what Magnussen was actually doing immediately! And honestly, it's perfectly believable that a genius intellect like him could store the equivalent of terabytes of documents in his brain. If there is an upper limit of the capabilities of our brains and our memory, we haven't found it yet.

John Cedar

Just got to the end, and Nat, just to clarify: the goodbye at the end was dramatic because, if you'll recall earlier in the episode, Mycroft says that he expects the undercover work they need Sherlock for in Eastern Europe to be fatal. So, Sherlock was getting on that plane fully expecting to be dead within six months.

Jeff K

The Abominable Bride is definately a good episode to watch that links to the start of season 4

Jam

“Did he actually take drugs and that’s why Molly slapped him?” Yes. Sherlock in the novels is a junkie, essentially.

Jeff K

I can’t believe I never realized until very recently that the actor who plays Magnussen is Mads Mikkelsen’s brother, Lars.

Jeff K

As many others will say, there's an episode stand alone to watch between season 3 and season 4!

Heliastein

Just an FYI Nat, there's an episode of Sherlock between Seasons 3 and 4 called "The Abominable Bride". It's considered part of the show and should definitely be watched! Edit: Nat mentions knowing about "bonus content" in this video. To be clear, this is an actual full episode, like The Office Christmas special was a full episode that wrapped up the series. It's only 1 video, not like BTS stuff or a series or shorts or anything. Basically it's a real episode and you shouldn't consider it bonus content.

K.N.

Wish it would take over Tuesdays as well so we can get through it, + Episode 0 for S4!

Simon Bauer

Happy Thursday Nat. Time for more Sherlock 😊 And yes, I heard your neck crack. Yikes! Only 1 month into your 30s 😬😄 ha ha This episode had so many twists and turns. You've been agonizing over Mary's identity this season Nat and you finally got your answer. I can't believe this episode is almost 10 years old. Time flies for sure. And the cool music for the Sherlock series was composed by David Arnold, who wrote the scores for 3 Pierce Brosnan and 2 Daniel Craig Bond movies, so he was a perfect choice for all this sleuthing. Thanks for a great reaction today Nat. Looking forward to your stream tonight, and Prey tomorrow evening 💛
