It's time for PREY! This was such a fun watch :) Truly didn't know what to expect and I was delighted. I watched this on Hulu for those who are curious.

At the end of Predator 2 Danny Glover (Who kills a Predator) is given THAT gun, the one Naru brought back, as a prize for surviving by another Predator... So it doesn't look good canonically for Naru's survival.

Predator 2 you really needed to suspend your disbelief a lot to believe that Danny Glover was strong enough to contend with a Predator ( they made an offhand comment about how strong he was supposed to be), and The Predator just had a dumb ending and premise. Predators would have been so much better if Adrian Brody wasn't doing a Batman voice the entire time, but it was a decent popcorn movie.

Which hurts even more, because on the whole I really enjoy Shane Black's films. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lethal Weapon, the Nice Guys, Last Action Hero, freakin Monster Squad... All classics or should-be classics.

Hunting defenseless animals and people isn't within their code. That's one of the reasons why the predator took the snake out. The pacing is very different than the original, yeah. All of the scenes here are gorgeous, yeah! I'm a huge fan of how and where this was filmed. lol, Predators don't claim prey that they didn't hunt/kill. lmao, you're the best! I'm 1000% a dog person but I draw the line at villages of people being slaughtered instead of a single doggo. lmao xD "Bison, huh.. OH MY GOD!" hahaha, that bit made me laugh a lot, despite what was shown onscreen. lol, the lack of subs in this movie is pretty disappointing. English is shown but that's all. "If it bleeds we can kill it." I'm glad you recognized that line from Arnold. lmao, your face when you remembered she cut his leg off. xD So entertaining. This movie all in all was alright but I don't think it's better than the original at all. This one's less fun and less scary. The acting wasn't any better. The story and landscapes were the biggest draw for me with this movie. The two predators are different varieties. This one was obviously using different tools and weapons. You can go ahead and figure that this is all because of it being a couple hundred years before but I don't know - I think it more has to do with the Predator caste system. That's my take on it anyway.

2023-11-13 01:36:40 +0000 UTCThe Predator’s are a super honourable species, they won’t come after Naru for killing the Pred in this movie, if anything they would visit her to acknowledge her as the victor of the hunt and to recover the body You can actually see this hinted at at the very end of the credits where it’s implied in the paintings that the Predator’s show up at the tribe immediately after the movie ends! Forgot how much of a fun, quick, action-packed ride this movie is!

2023-11-12 18:48:11 +0000 UTCMy only criticism the fact that the loud minority of people for some reason have this mission to tell reactors their subjective opinion "this movie is bad, don't watch it" in this case, predator 2, and we choose to listen to them. Predator 2 does an amazing job at showing the warrior culture and honor code the predators have, why and how they do what they do. its important context that would of enhanced your reaction and enjoyment even more for the prey film.

You should watch the 2nd movie as well when you get the chance. It’s just as good as the others and there was even a reference to it in this film. Predators as well. The only one would say to skip is The Predator. That’s the only one that’s not great.

Each Predator movie is very different and the only one that’s actually bad is The Predator, the film prior to this one. The Predator has a deeply fucked up idea of how autistic people function and fetishizes it. Super offensive to a lot of people who struggle with it like I do.

The French guy wasn’t going to kill the dog, he was going to set it free, “I like the dog” are basically his last words. The film is constantly playing with the difference between our visual perception and reality, flipping back and forth between predator and prey. It’s fun.

Dan Trachtenberg, who also directed the highly superior 10 Cloverfield Lane, is--I think--a director to watch for in the future. And Amber Midthunder is just a straight up bad-ass. Also, the music in this one...beautiful.

It's honestly pretty good, nowhere near as bad as the other modern ones, and there's a few easter eggs/connections to this movie as well. Naru is now firmly one of my all time favourite female characters, it's between her and Alita: Battle Angel for the top spot (from movies alone, anyway). Someone whose accomplishments are badass but still make sense and aren't forced. Like you said, her knowledge of medicine - at the time a "female" trait - being what helps her win is absolutely awesome. I hope we see her again. The only thing I picked up on in this rewatch that doesn't make sense in the movie is the Predator trying to use it's weaponry at the end...it should know that it's darts wouldn't go straight towards her and would zoom off to wherever the mask was aiming. Unless when it's out of range of it's mask they're supposed to just fly straight, and he was unaware the mask was nearby.

She was supposed to have a smaller role, but test audiences loved her. Imagine one day you're in a shelter, and the next, starring in a movie blockbuster! Although she struggled to hit her marks, she's such a good doggie!

In fact, even if you never watched the first movie, you could have watched this one stand-alone and it still would have been just as good! Glad you enjoyed it.

And apparantly the Predator in this movie is like a mirror to Naru, a young Predator in initiation On that note, stay golden! 💛

And Amber Midthunder was so damn good. I hope she becomes a major star, she's certainly good enough.

Amber Midthunder was a bad miscast and i loved her in the role (not saying it was her fault it was just not the right cast for such a character but she was great, hope that makes sense.). Story was weak and didnt made a lot of sense but i enjoyed it. Really good example for a Movie who is doing a lot wrong but can still be very entertaining and make you overlook weaknesses. Anyway, thanks Nat, wish you a great Weekend.

Been looking forward to watching this with you all week 😊 The Fox Fanfare is still the greatest movie studio logo ever 😊 This is such a cool movie and an underrated addition to the franchise. Love the setting and how the hunters have to use their primitive weapons against the technology of the predator, and ultimately using it's tech against it. A good group of characters, and the score was great too. "It's a little squishy net" ha ha Nat 😂 Thanks for a great reaction today, and as always, thanks for all your work this week. Look forward to your new show next week. Hope your new diet helps to get you back to feeling more like yourself again. Have a brilliant weekend 💛
