2023-11-18 05:40:47 +0000 UTCMan, rewatching this, I'm now picking up on all the subtle things that will feed into the Series 4 finale. Spoilers ;) Yeah, regarding this "movie". It was released as a TV Christmas Special in between the two series. (Similarly, Doctor Who will often have specials, often Christmas related, in between series.) By the way, concerning the waterfall imagery and references. Such as someone mentioning Sherlock shoving a Maths teacher over a waterfall and it being to hard to find a body. This is a reference to how Sherlock and Moriarty came to an end in the novel The Final Problem. They fought and apparently both went over the Reichenbach Falls (and Moriarty was a Maths professor in the books). And then later Sherlock miraculously reappeared alive because the publisher demanded more novels.

2023-11-17 03:49:24 +0000 UTCElementary, my dear Watson, he never said it in the original stories, 'elementary' quite often and 'my dear Watson' , but never both at the same time. As a special episode, I wished it had stayed in Victorian times. Have you seen their mini series of Dracula?

2023-11-16 21:06:51 +0000 UTCYeah this isn't a movie, it's just a special episode of the show that aired between seasons which BBC does a lot. This should definitely be considered an episode of the show and not just an extra thing for a variety of spoilery reasons, which is why people were telling you that you had to watch it.

2023-11-16 20:10:27 +0000 UTCFunny you kmention the similiarities to House as it is very heavily inspired by sherlock holmes except he solves medical mysteries instead of criminal onces. Even the names are very similiar; Holmes to House, Watson to Wilson. They even live at 221B Baker Street which is very on the nose but I love it.

2023-11-16 19:39:53 +0000 UTCThat's funny, on Amazon Prime in my country, it's advertised as Season 3 Episode 4, and it has the same length as the other episodes, I didn't know it was an extra movie, but that's interesting to know :)

2023-11-16 17:26:36 +0000 UTCNo it's another episode of Sherlock, they just have film length runtimes. This particular episode is a standalone story that aired in between seasons 3 and 4 and doesn't narratively connect to the storylines in those seasons. Plus it's taking place in victorian era England, which is a detour of the current "present day" setting of the series.

2023-11-16 17:21:23 +0000 UTCA movie on a Thursday? Mind blown 🤯 lol hopefully this can lead to at least two movies a week instead of just one and we can ease up on one of the TV shows 🤷

2023-11-16 17:05:18 +0000 UTCHappy Thursday Nat. So awesome that you are watching this Sherlock special. It will be fun to watch it with you today 😊 This one was a blast. Getting a Christmas ghost story to ease us into the holiday season. I had forgotten a lot of the details of this episode, so it was really cool to watch it again. The BBC can do costume dramas standing on their head ha ha I loved your "I'm getting whiplash bro" comment with all the back and forth in time 😄 Thanks for squeeezing this one into you busy schedule Nat. You da best 😊💛
