Update for 2024!

Here's a video updating some of the things I want to focus on in 2024 :)

Thank you all for your support! Looking forward to an awesome year.

Comments

There are some shows that just aren't really worth the time, so maybe focusing on the big ones or the ones that are trending or popular would be a good move. You obviously have the big ones like Stranger Things and Wednesday etc that are musts but not everything needs to be reacted too.

Joshua Russler

I think more movies is a great idea! I also think shorter series (not that many seasons + episodes) or limited series like the Haunting series would be great watches! Bly Manor was one I was hoping you would get to, for example. So I hope it's still somewhere on the list <3

WWW

We can keep hoping my man :P 1 episode at a time over the years xD

Heliastein

More movies is fun for sure. Don't completely drop tv shows tho. One show at a time maybe? Even if it's just 1 episode per week?

Heliastein

I agree with your decision to watch more movies. I just finished your reaction to Ratatouille and loved it! It reminded me of another movie with mice and rats that I think you'll love, The Secret of NIMH (1982). It gets you right in the feels too. Keep up the good work!

Josh McHugh

Throw Battlestar Galactica back on some polls. The writing is just so incredible. You can dip your toes in with the pilot/miniseries which is a standalone.

Christopher Robles

I really do hope you continue Invincible! It's a good show, I promise!

MarKreations Studios

Great idea taking a break from series after you are done with the current stuff that you are watching.

José R. Colón

New here! If you are getting into scheduling and still are curious to test various shows, just try a 1x per month tv feature with movies around them. The Last Airbender is a great example of a short(er)-term commitment with a huge payoff. I think Band of Brothers is similar, True Detective S1 etc. Mini-series or seasons of anthology shows (black mirror, Fargo) can fit but not overwhelm.

MD617

@nattiegold on youtube

Tijmen ter Beek

What is the second channel that you keep referring to? Is it another Patreon channel or youtube because I don't see it mentioned anywhere.

Richard Higgs

I can see why shows aren't great bang for buck so moving to focus more on movies sounds like the right call. There's just so many movies man and doing more than one a week could put a good dent in your list for the year. Looking forward to what you've got install for us <3

PrayTellCaesar

I appreciate the update. I enjoy both movie and show reactions, but I will say that I think you should keep shows integrated in some way. I think enough of your audience enjoys shows to just not do any, even if that means just one episode a week as a patreon exclusive, so less editing needed. All in all I'm excited for the changes and can't wait to chat with you some more in the live streams.

Andrew Roberto

I love your content so I was gonna stick by ya no matter what but honest… SO STOKED about the idea of more movies and fewer shows. I want more of that variety. Can’t wait to see what you do with the rest of the year.

djKENTO

Hey Nat have you ever seen The Crow or Blade?

Christopher Henderson

I enjoy both series and movies, and even when there's not a series I want to watch or movie I want to watch that you react to, there's always something. And even if not, that's fine for me, I'll happily support whatever you choose to focus on. I just wait till I see something I want to rewatch while you watch it and that's that.

Daniel Drew

NOOOO, I prefer series over movies.

Rime Pendragon

As a viewer that prefers shows over movies as it gives more time to get into character development etc. it has definitely been a geat time for me on the channel but I do completely get the desire to switch back to more movies! Making changes to the Patreon seems like a good idea and excited to see what the year is gonna bring - Personally I'm still hoping that you'll one day finish the Netflix Marvel shows but that's just because I really love Jessica Jones season 3 and the Luke Cage show :D

Danishprince

Thank you so much for putting this video on here! I am a huge fan of this Patreon and I'm happy that you'll be returning to films again. I've really missed them. Looking forward to the fun this year! :)

Logan Kerlee

I'm not a fan of the animation reactions, i also have to admit but I would love reactions to certain series like The Sinner, Band of brothers, etc.

Gary

You should watch Constantine. Stacked cast -- you'd recognize almost every actor. My favorite Keanu movie.

Johnny

I'm very excited for more movies. I usually skip tv reactions because I don't feel like they're usually worth it, there's too many short episodes but also several times the length of a movie. The exception being prestige tv where there's only one or two seasons of 6-10 episodes only, with episodes being 45-60 minutes each. Can't wait for more movies.

Nathan Swapp

You should maybe do a once a week episode of a series just for patreons so you won't need to do a lot of editing and also another reason for people to join patreon

Thomas Richter

Nothing about any of this really sounds terrible, it's nice to keep it fresh. I'll admit I was in the boat of not being super into most of the series' the last while. I enjoy a good show and will gladly watch the ones im interested in but they end up being a larger commitment for something that may not be my favourite vs a one-off movie. Plus I typically am just more of a movie person myself. Hopefully series' don't fall back too far since there are some really good ones that'd be fun to watch along with you, though perhaps you've seen them and it's been mentioned on the Discord (which I admittedly haven't joined since I'm too awkward) so it's hard to say. But maybe one series at a time between some movies might be the best, regardless if the series is 1 season or 8. At the end of the day its best if you enjoy what you're watching as well, truly, and not just watching what gets endlessly brought up.

Donald

Thank you, Natalie. I was ready to leave for a while but then you started Band of Brothers. That's why I stayed. I do agree that the series have taken over too much of your content and am glad to hear you will be reacting to more movies. I've always enjoyed your reactions but I seem to be increasingly in the minority when it comes to my votes for what you react to. Typically I vote for what I think you would enjoy the most and that's usually not the one that wins. Some movies that I'm sure are already on your list but I want to suggest again - Dances With Wolves A Beautiful Mind Cocoon Amistad Cinderella Man Trumbo Apollo 13 Backdraft Hell or High Water Wind River O Brother, Where Art Thou? Awakenings Dead Poets Society The Fisher King Moscow on the Hudson Sneakers and so many others...

JayF

This sounds like a good opportunity to suggest you watch The Room by Tommy Wiseau

RJ Films

I love this idea! I haven't been a fan of the shows in the last few months but I still like supporting you and your movie reactions have been great! I might also add that some of my favourite movie reactions are when you don't do a poll and you watch something you really want to see. I think having a 1 show reaction going at a time will be good and you can make changes as current shows are airing when you see fit :)

Julia

I do like the series reactions and it's good they will continue albeit to a lesser degree. However, one thing I've found is that if it happens to be a series I'm not personally interested in, it does feel like losing a whole chunk of time waiting out a long series. Whereas, if it's a movie I'm not in to, the next one comes really quick, you know? So, this change seems a good one to me.

Pennie

Hope to see Daredevil get finished, because the last one is fantastic, aside from that I'm totally for more movies, especially so bad they're good ones

zak

I have been suggesting that for a long time and still believe it would be great, especially considering the 3rd season is incoming soon!

Rogier Oude Heuvel

https://www.youtube.com/@nattiegold it Is her Vlogs, Reactions and Gaming channel

Rogier Oude Heuvel

I understand u wanting to focus more on Films, but I do still think that Shows have merit. So my personal idea/compromise is that you do 1 show, and the rest is movies. the Show in question is only a show you really enjoy watching, so you give a show a season (or couple episodes) and if you enjoy it, you keep watching otherwise you move on? Cause me personally I love watching these series with you, I do like movies, but I am more a TV Series man myself, it just does a lot more character building stuff which I enjoy.

Rogier Oude Heuvel

Anime in general is fine, just got to do research before posting. Plenty of Anime is reacted to across the reaction spaces, just not anything by Studio Ghibli. Vkunia and Magic Magy both do Anime on the regular, so if you want to see any reactions to them, they are fun reactors to watch anime with if you dont already. Nat can even vouch for Vkunia as they did a collab together xD

LightsCameraJake

That sounds really good. I would love it if you watched more drama films.

Dennis Macko

I definitely support the more movies idea. There's been a couple shows I've really valued your reactions to but yes sadly I've barely seen any of them lol and am way more of a movie person myself.

Sam Winkler

Oh wow i get it I was thinking if she could post them exclusively on Patreon even if it was only for the golden tier I’d still pay honestly But yeah i totally get it it’s always the anime movies with the copyright

Malak☆ملاك

Yeah Studio Ghibli has taken channels down. Vkunia for example lost her first channel because of "Your Name" among others of their work. So yeah we stay away from them, period. In the reaction space.

LightsCameraJake

"Bad but it's good" can only mean Flash Gordon (1980) with the Prince soundtrack ;-)

Marvin Just Marvin

I love the new changes Nat! I’m excited to see you do more movie reactions.

elina

I really love the movie idea there is a lot of good movies that came out this last year And since you are focusing on movies i think getting into more animated movies would be fun. Someone mentioned that it’s hard to post Ghibli movies on YouTube cause of the copyright and i don’t know if that’s true but there are still a lot of good ones like ( your name) and maybe one the older Disney movies Anyway I’m so excited for what you’re putting out this year!!

Malak☆ملاك

More movies is great but a WIDER variety of movies would be better. Mainstream is good but non mainstream would be better and Indie films. Also I can sense you enjoy Band of Brothers and I hope you watch The Pacific (on Max) and then Masters of Air (Apple TV+) when that is releases in its full form

Anthony Curione

I'm good with movies over series. Some shows are such a big commitment and the quality often varies. With movies it's often easier to select on quality and even if it's not everyone's cup of tea, it's usually only 2 hours. This also gives you the space to do some deep dives into great directors like Paul Thomas Anderson and David Lynch.

Berry

Me too!!!

Kristine Friling

"Other Channel"? How about more movies from the classic era / "Golden Age" genres? i.e. "Casablanca", "The Big Sleep", "Double Indemnity", etc.

Miles E Coburn

You’re the person that got me into watching reactions so damn right I’ll be switching over to the gold tier 😀

Joseph salazar

Love all of this! Can't wait for what this year brings!!

Connor Crout

Sounds good Nat

Athenor

Yes! More "Bad but it's Good" Movies! 😂

Walter Lopez

Hey Nat! I'm excited for more livestreams and seeing what you explore on your second channel! Over break I watched Once Upon a Studio, it's only 8ish minutes, and I'd love to see your reaction to it, either on a life-threatening or maybe short react video on your second channel 😊

Yani Dodge

Yeah I would agree with others that the only real issue with a series, is if it’s something someone isn’t interested in it could last for months. But even still people want to stay to support you. There’s definitely been months I’ve supported but didn’t watch anything posted here. More movies keeps things mixed up. And maybe if doing a series try to get through 3-4 episodes a week or something to try to get through a series in a couple weeks to a month, rather than a few months. I think there are plenty of series people would still love to see you react to, but currently they do take a lot of commitment and time. Just some thoughts, I’ll still be here to support you however it goes.

Michael Bergeron

Here here! 😊

Yani Dodge

Glad you're getting back into movies. *cough WIND RIVER cough*

DustinChecksIn

I'll second that! I'd much rather you watch a show you're actually interested in checking out even if it's not winning polls! At least once a month can just be a Nat's choice 😁

Yani Dodge

Thanks for the update, Nat! I understand what you're saying about series reactions. A series is a long-term commitment, and if someone doesn't like that series, they might feel they would be missing out over a lot of content, whereas not liking a movie is just a one-time miss. I've been seeing a lot of YouTubers discovering Babylon 5 recently, which is great, but I can see how a commitment like that is pretty daunting (5 seasons, 110 episodes, and not to mention the made-for-TV movies). Your only options for really large series is to pack a lot of content into a short time or spread it out a lot. I guess spreading out the content could work for some series but not for others. And although you really didn't touch on it, I think it's really great that you only have 3 membership tiers. I've seen so many Patreon people who have 5, 7, 10 or more tiers, and some of those really expensive tiers mean that the offerings are diluted for the people who can't afford paying $25/$50/$100 per month. Plus, I can't imagine the work it takes to create enough content/products to satisfy really expensive tiers. So kudos for keeping it simple! Looking forward to your content in 2024!

Sam Kimpton

Nice, I’ll happily take 3-4 movies over 2 shows and a movie weekly

AngelAlCapone

Thank you for the update! I’m mostly on patreon to give support as I don’t have much time to watch full length reactions but these are very thoughtful changes! Loving the shake up, happy new year Nat!

Juliana Montenegro

I agree with everything you said. Ive always loved being a supporter. I have to also admit, I can be a cynic here sometimes but I really do enjoy your work so much. There are times where I go entire months without watching any show you post and only watch the once movie a week type thing. So I am glad you are changing things up to add more movies per week. I also want to add, while polls are great and not saying you should get rid of them entirely, but too many channels rely on them for EVERY MOVIE and that leads to a lot of reaction channels becoming the same, with all the same movies being watched all the time because so many people overlap with other channels. It never gives other great films that are not trendy among channel spaces a chance to be watched. Your channel is big enough to where yoou dont NEED to stick with what is trendy to grow. You can watch other films that deserve a place on the reaction mantle that never get that chance to win polls because of trend service and there is A LOT of amazing films that if you choose to watch without a poll being the factor it could lead to others also wanting to check them out. Vkunia is a great example of this. She recently watched "Whiplash" a movie that was never even close to winning in a poll, it was always almost dead last, but people kept talking about it in her community. She gave the movie a chance, reacted to it and its now one of her fav movies she has watched for the channel. It kept losing to all the "trend" films. Now she mentions the film to everybody she talks to. Choices like this should be taken more by reactors. So even if a moive loses a poll, if people keep talking about and nudging you to watch it. I say, why the hell not? Ya know! Stay Awesome Nat, and I look forward to 2024 with you!

LightsCameraJake

Great resolutions, Nat. I think they're doable ;) I'll concur with what others have said and that a Monday Movie and Friday Feature would probably be a good schedule. Also, like mentioned earlier, watching 2 shows—even when they're shorter series—takes forever when you're watching 2 episodes a week of 1 show and 1 episode of the other. We’re seeing that right now with both Invincible and Band of Brothers. I think you announced Invincible in early December and we’re already into early Jan and you’re on episode 5. Same with BoB, you’ve watched 2 episodes of a 10-episode show in a month. Now of course it was the holidays and you’ve been traveling and then recently with the health issues, etc.—that can’t be helped, it’s okay, nobody wants an apology for that. I think your new schedule would even alleviate some of the pressure if you’re mainly watching movies and then a single show at a time. In retrospect, 2 long-form shows at a time is a lot. The main thing I would stress is this: whatever you decide to do with your schedule, all of us will adapt and be happy with any amount of time we can get to hang out with you. Lots of people react to all of these shows and we’re here watching with you because we chose you, because you’re funny, you’re insightful and your personality isn’t fake or forced. I hope we aren’t causing you too much stress with our silly entertainment demands and I hope we all have a pleasant new year :)

Mike Hell

Hey Nat! Just a suggestion of something I'd like to see: Change up the way we get those movies. Rather than a weekly poll of 5-8 movies where one wins and people who vote for the losers are disappointed, do something different? You could literally figure out a schedule of what you ACTUALLY want to watch over the next 6 months, every week, and put all of them in a poll, and they all get watched based on how many votes each get - and everyone can vote for like, 5 or something. You could do a poll for Gold level only for a movie, mid-level only for a movie, and one that YOU want to watch that YOU choose every week! There are other options as well. I'm just saying, you could try something different in that respect, and shake things up a bit.

Mastervodo

pov its 2062 and im still leaving "react to Loki S2 🥺" comments under every post LOL

Lawson

Maybe u could do more of a binge vibe with the tv shows? like as opposed to watching multiple shows at once just focus on one at a time but knock them out quicker so its not taking months to finish a season of a show.

Lawson

was gonna suggest the same thing, just do one show at a time, 2 episodes and 2 movies a week sounds cool to me :)

Lean

Even if it’s only one episode a week, I would still love to see Legend of Vox Machina!

Steven

More movies would definitely be pretty cool! Maybe you can do like 2 movies a week (like Movie Monday and Feature Friday or something lol) and just focus on one series at a time?

Steven Hok

I Second that - Nat would have a Fun Reaction to Free Guy especially w/ Reynolds, Taika & Keery in the movie LOL!

Alan Felicia

Thank you for taking a break from series I prefer your movie reactions. I would love to see your reaction to Free Guy it is an awesome Ryan Reynolds movie.

Tony Mandler

Maybe you could periodically devote an entire week to movies. One week a month might be too much but maybe every other or every 3?

Ben Wheeler

Just commenting to say the renewed emphasis on movies is very welcome!

internetryan

Exciting times ahead Nat 😊

Darryl Low

Super excited about the direction you’re taking this year! Thanks for the update 👍

Darren P

Hi Nat, 1st I hope your feeling a bit better and are not still sat in the ER, my mom fell and fractured her hip last week and she was on a gurney in the UK equivalent to the ER for nearly 12 hours, so I hope it wasn't as bad for you. Really looking forward to the revamp, even though I think most of us will watch anything with you lol (The Last Airbender Movie !!!), but please keep LOST on the possible list for TV shows as I am sure you would enjoy the 1st 3 or 4 seasons. Thanks for all the great content and really looking forward to 2024.

Baggie Mark

Love the resolutions though, looking forward to having more movies! Hope you had a great holiday season

Ian

Honestly Nat, main thing I got from this video is you REALLY need to finish Invincible Season 1. No one is worried about you not liking it once you actually finish the season, but it's taking so long that it feels like it's dragging (and it's pretty obvious in your reactions tbh). I really think you should hammer out the last 4 episodes in the next few weeks, that and season 2 put it in the territory of The Boys

Ian

You can definitely give some time to deciding on Invincible Season 2 as it's not actually finished yet. It is on a midseason break at the moment, and isn't set to resume for at least another couple of weeks (they are still only saying that it's coming "Early 2024") So it might be worth holding off until it's back/finished up if you do decide to continue with it.
