I mean, she looked up who lived. Where's your outrage over that?

2024-02-07 23:13:35 +0000 UTCYou are one of the people who ruins every reaction to this series that I have watched over the last year. STOP saying things like this! It taints the organic reaction. Telling anyone this creates an expectation of how they should react. It’s a spoiler in and of itself.

2024-02-07 10:55:02 +0000 UTCFor the intro, it’s either a 3 pattern or a 6 pattern. 3/4 or 6/8. Feels 3/4 to me due to the extra 3/4 measure between phrases, but I didn’t pay a ton of attention during music theory classes.

2024-02-07 10:51:53 +0000 UTCSeeing how she weeped at the end of last episode and here, she better have a crate of tissues for 9.

2024-02-06 04:10:54 +0000 UTCI'm sorry, but it wasn't bold. It was stupid. Dropping light infantry on top of heavily armored soldiers was pretty dumb already. Fuck all of those guys fighting for the Nazis, but the German army was and still is famous for very smart officers. The tactics that the German army pioneered back then are taught everywhere by now. The Wehrmacht "backhand blow" was kinda famous. Lure the enemy, then wipe them out with a terrible counter attack. And don't get me wrong, fuck the Nazis. But Market Garden was a terribe clusterfuck. And really not worth getting celebrated. A waste of resources and brave men.

2024-02-04 02:54:21 +0000 UTCAs a former paratrooper, I *highly* recommend "A Bridge Too Far". Well researched, phenomenal cast, great action scenes, and the best airborne sequence ever put on film, bar none. :)

2024-02-02 18:57:32 +0000 UTCNot sure if anyone mentioned it yet. But Operation Market Garden was such a bold move by the Allies yet ultimately doomed. There is a classic movie that would fit into this series perfectly for it's historic accuracy and realism. It featured many of the day's major stars and was big budget. "A Bridge Too Far" is such a classic and worth a watch if you're interested.

2024-01-27 02:48:24 +0000 UTCJames McAvoy appears in this episode as Pvt. Miller. He was the one that took off his unit citation for Normandy & left it on the table. He was a replacement under Sgt. Bull Randleman. He dies, IIRC Randleman comes across his body as he's making his way back to the unit.

2024-01-25 20:42:49 +0000 UTCI’m think that the guy asking him to tap his leg when the green light came on was secretly colorblind.
David Winegeart
2024-01-18 05:15:50 +0000 UTCI always thought that the replacement officer was gonna have his eyes closed in the plane.
Giancarlo Ubaldino
2024-01-17 21:04:28 +0000 UTCYes, during WW2, commissioned officers were required to have color vision. This guy was a lieutenant. Color blindness would be grounds for losing his commission, which was why he was trying to keep it secret.

2024-01-17 05:31:46 +0000 UTCNat, you asked about the spade symbol painted on the side of the helmets. That is historically accurate. The different units had different symbols painted on their helmets for D-Day. The fear was that, after parachuting in, the paratroopers would be scattered all over the place. Having distinctive symbols painted on everyone's helmet would help the paratroopers find other members of their own unit. After D-Day, the symbols were kept because they proved to be a simple way of helping to organize scattered troops. The spade was the symbol of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (of which Easy Company was a part). Sometimes hashmarks would be painted next to the symbol. The position of the hashmark indicated which subdivision a soldier was in. For an example, a hashmark above the symbol might indicate first battalion, while a hashmark to the right of the symbol might be second battalion....
Chris Gronau
2024-01-17 04:52:26 +0000 UTCThe spade symbol on the side of their helmet means they're part of the 506th infantry regiment which is about 1500-2000 soldiers. The leader of the 506 is Colonel Sink the old guy with the mustache. So if somebody has a heart, club, or diamond on their helmet than they are part of a different regiment of the 101st Airborne. Also Vincent Van Gogh was not born in Nuenen, the show got that wrong. He spent some of his life in Nuenen but he wasn't born there in that town. Lastly, Malarkey did steal that motorcycle. He was joyriding it towards the end of the last episode. Though technically he was in the sidecar or the motorcycle.

2024-01-17 04:23:16 +0000 UTCA movie to add to your list is “A Bridge Too Far”, about Operation Market Garden. A phenomenal film with an absolutely stacked cast.

2024-01-17 03:07:47 +0000 UTCOh wow that James Mcavoy appearance WAS brief 😅 always nice to see a fellow Scotsman onscreen tho 🫡 especially my boy

2024-01-17 01:36:40 +0000 UTCIt took me twenty years to realize the guy asking to be tapped when the green light is on… he’s color blind. He can’t tell the difference between red and green. Lots of men lied on their applications to enlist. Ages, illnesses, inability to read even.

2024-01-16 22:39:36 +0000 UTCI might have a suggestion for the future. Generation War. It's a tree part mini-series from the german perspective.

2024-01-16 22:06:07 +0000 UTCJames McAvoy, Colin Hanks (tom hanks son), Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender all make an appearance in this show. Keep a lookout Nat.

2024-01-16 21:14:19 +0000 UTClook after yourself Logan, hope you feel better soon.

2024-01-16 21:00:44 +0000 UTCI can't remember: did she recognize Fassbender back in the first episode? Obviously, the other big one (other than Simon Pegg, who was also obviously in a couple early episodes; this one was raised by the darkness) who was so young he's nearly recognizable, I can't recall if he's shown up yet. Won't say so as not to spoil, but genuinely can't recall when he first pops up.

2024-01-16 20:27:56 +0000 UTCAh. good thought! I didn't consider that.

2024-01-16 20:20:50 +0000 UTClol, thankful that you mentioned that it was the recap! I don't get that on Netflix. Can't see what you're talking about but I remember those scenes. Fuck! I'm feeling proper sick right now. COVID ain't very fun. This is my first go around with it and I'm hoping that it'll be my last. lmao, the conducting is expected with this intro. It's okay! :) lol - you won't be alone in tears. Yeah, no. I'm not going to keep up with this. I'm just going to watch and enjoy the show. The way this entire show was made is top notch. The story is compelling and moving. We all grow attached to the characters individually as well as a whole Company. I can't help but become emotional when watching this.

2024-01-16 20:19:13 +0000 UTC23:57 "Thank you" in Dutch is "Dank je", it's pretty similar to both English and German. This episode was centered around Operation Market Garden which is still very well known in the Netherlands today. A memorial with veterans is held every summer, this year it's the 80th anniversary. There's also a classic war movie called A Bridge Too Far about this particular operation which might be worth looking into. It's pretty good and it has a lot of big stars in it (Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Laurence Olivier, etc).

2024-01-16 19:54:20 +0000 UTCSo many people commented that on the episode that it happened, that some are leaking over to here?

2024-01-16 18:27:54 +0000 UTCQuite a few recognizable young actors in this episode was their start to their acting career. You'll notice a young James Mcavoy of course who we saw get killed in this episode.

2024-01-16 18:09:11 +0000 UTCConduct the music like you did w Game of Thrones. You remember. It's the same time signature Three/Four. May 8th is VE day (Germany Surrenders). First A-bomb Hiroshima Aug 6, 1945; Nagasaki Aug 9, 1945; VJ day UK Aug 15, 1945 (Japan announces surrender); VJ day US Sep 2, 1945 (Japan signs the surrender). "MACK-uhVOY" James McAvoy. A suggestion starring him is the Eastrail trilogy of Unbreakable 2000 (Bruce Willis and Sam L Jackson), Split 2016 (James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy, Betty Buckley), and Glass 2019 (James McAvoy, Sam L Jackson, Bruce Willis) all directed by M. Night Shyamalan. I have suggested these to you before :D

2024-01-16 15:21:02 +0000 UTCThere's a few interesting articles about how accurate this show really is, it looks to be pretty spot on for the most part but one mistake that you may enjoy @Nat is that Blithe didn't die. It looks like a lot of Easy company lost touch with him after he was shipped back and they assumed he died. According to a few sources though he made it to 1967, even serving again in the Korean war.
