This movie on the X screen was an event. It's the reason you go to the movies. It's a 10 to me.

2025-01-10 06:03:28 +0000 UTCWith the beginning showing Maverick as a test pilot and the talk about mach, I think you should watch The Right Stuff. It is a super entertaining movie about the Mercury Space Program and even stars Ed Harris.

2024-12-04 06:39:05 +0000 UTCThe planes and the g’s you see on the actors are real!!!

2024-08-02 04:16:31 +0000 UTCMan, after you looked up Glenn Powell the audio pops on your end got terrible.

2024-08-02 04:11:50 +0000 UTCIt was a very cool that Tom Cruise fought to have Val Kilmer written into the script, and they allowed Kilmer to incorporate his actual illness/condition into his role. The biographical/autobiographical documentary "Val" is an interesting watch, especially if you are curious about the life/career of Val Kilmer. It's got a lot of footage Val has filmed himself throughout his life and career, he was always recording things, and it shows some interesting insights into the movie business and celebrities.

2024-05-16 02:00:38 +0000 UTCI feel like I become more impressed by this movie every time I watch it. It’s not doing anything outside the box, but it’s just about as close to a perfectly constructed traditional blockbuster sequel as you can get. What I will say tho is that Natalie being unsure how to pronounce “Mach” tells me she really needs to watch Speed Racer ASAP.

2024-05-13 17:29:36 +0000 UTCfun facts : the protype plane Maverick is flying in the start of the movie to Mach 10. That is not real at all. The world record for fastest flight is the X-15A-2 it had a speed of Mach 6.72 (4,534 mph) this was back in 1967. This record has never been beaten since .

2024-05-13 16:00:26 +0000 UTCMy dad actually flew a very similar mission to the one in the climax in the F-4 which was the plane Mav’s dad was shot down in.

2024-05-13 05:42:51 +0000 UTCNo Natalie he does not draw a line at anything 😂 but there is few things the director or the army doesn’t let him do lol Also that girl he was with that works in the bar was mentioned in the first movie cause he got in trouble with a officer by sleeping with her daughter and that’s her 😂🤣just realizing after you said you can actually ruin that plane cause it’s the enemies but yet that was the best condition a left the plane in the whole movie hahaha

2024-05-12 20:50:42 +0000 UTCIt was a Porsche at the end Nat, but what a great movie! A bit of everything and fucking great especially for a sequel which a LOT of the time do not stand up to the original at all.

2024-05-12 07:30:45 +0000 UTCThis movie is so fun, and the shots and tension are very well done! Glad you enjoyed it :D

2024-05-12 04:31:17 +0000 UTCif you get a chance, the behind the scenes material is wow. they were really up there filming to extent.
Brandon Hinton
2024-05-11 20:18:43 +0000 UTCThe realistic shots in the cockpit that Natalie mentions were more real than movie magic. There is a behind the scenes out there that talks about how the production worked with the Navy to have the actors that played pilots to ride in jets and film a lot of the scenes where they are in the cockpit. They all deserved huge props for making the reality kick in. And, if I remember correctly, Tom Cruise is a pilot and I think the P-51 (the prop plane at the end) is actually his.

2024-05-11 17:59:54 +0000 UTCYess!! Sicario would be a great movie for Nat to react to. It's surprising Nat hasn't seen it.

2024-05-11 11:01:11 +0000 UTCMach is a speed indeed. Its the speed of sound. Commercial jets go about 0,8 mach. mach 10 is 10x the speed of sound
Tijmen ter Beek
2024-05-11 10:09:50 +0000 UTC"Do some of that pilot shit" was also something Goose said to Mav in the first movie. Another nice callback.

2024-05-11 06:06:48 +0000 UTCI loved this movie, I think the film is a love letter to aviation. Loved the cockpit views. Enjoy your much needed break Natalie. I'd have to recommend another film featuring Miles Teller "Only the Brave" with Josh Brolin and Jennifer Connelly. Another recommendation with a great suspense ride where you have no idea what is going to happen to the protagonist would be "Sicario"
Stephen Lewis
2024-05-11 05:40:04 +0000 UTCUse the force Mav use the force.

2024-05-11 05:29:04 +0000 UTCYes! Hammy/cheesy at times, but very moving.

2024-05-11 05:27:56 +0000 UTCYou tried too hard to meme, over analyze and look for continuity the whole time, found it annoying. Not sure why you chose this movie of all movies to be way to critical of in your conclusion.
LightsCameraJake
2024-05-11 05:14:01 +0000 UTCThere is a fan theory that says that Maverick died in that initial crash and everything else is the afterlife. And you don’t like the Gaga song?

2024-05-11 02:07:43 +0000 UTCJust a fun fact, in the beginning when they talk about the school it’s pretty much the same as the first movie except in this movie they add “men AND women.” It was just men in the 80s movie. Kinda neat!

2024-05-11 01:01:13 +0000 UTCTop Gun Maverick was my favourite film of 2022 because it epitomized why audiences pay to see movies in theatres, which was especially meaningful coming out of COVID. I'm certain that contributed to its overwhelming and much-deserved success. I know that Spider-Man: No Way Home was the first billion-dollar-blockbuster after the pandemic, but Maverick surpassed it as THE REASON to return to theatres. There's not much else to say because Natalie covered it all in her reaction and review. The only thing I found shocking was that Natalie disliked the Lady Gaga song, which was a recurring musical theme when Penny was on-screen before the full song played over the end credits. That song was huge in 2022! Even I had it on my playlist. Natalie's grading system is certainly thorough. I'd just go with a rating out of 10, because breaking a film down by categories will inevitably translate to a lower score overall because no movie can score 10/10 in every aspect -- and Top Gun: Maverick is NOT a B+. #sorry-not-sorry, Natalie! Regardless, excellent reaction! On the topic of classic '80s movies and their modern sequels, I have to mention GHOSTBUSTERS (1984). Perhaps as a comedy "scary" movie for this year's Nat-mare Season?
Rod Reavern
2024-05-11 00:49:18 +0000 UTC@Nattie, In the End why not divide your score by 4 so that you get an average, you found the movie to be an 8.35/10 overall!

2024-05-10 22:40:01 +0000 UTCJoseph Kosinski's best movie is still Only the Brave... really hope people start to react to it. As some one from NorCal who's had to evacuate for multiple fires, I really respect wild fire fighters and that movie is incredible.

2024-05-10 22:38:42 +0000 UTCIt's probably already been mentioned but this movie played a huge part in bringing people back to the theatre after the pandemic. Steven Spielberg thanked him personally for saving cinema.

2024-05-10 22:34:45 +0000 UTCTom draws no lines with stunts. The military had to draw it for him. He wasn't allowed to pilot these jets. And Mach 1 is the speed of sound. Mach 10 is 10x the speed of sound.

2024-05-10 22:10:26 +0000 UTCWoo! Break in June! Take all the breaks!

2024-05-10 21:56:01 +0000 UTCFYI the old WWII fighter plane (a P-51 Mustang) that Maverick is tinkering with actually does belong to Tom Cruise.

2024-05-10 21:01:15 +0000 UTCCame in to make this same comment. A lot of those in-cockpit scened looked real because they were real.

2024-05-10 21:00:21 +0000 UTCOne of the movies that just has an extra edge when i watched it in theater. The sound and a huge screen just adds that little bit to it thats almost impossible to get at home. And you were right at the end, it was a Porsche :D

2024-05-10 20:34:23 +0000 UTCJust wanted to take a second to thank you for reacting to this movie. As a child of the 80's I was really looking forward to your reaction and overall opinion, so I appreciate that you took the time. Hope all's well with you and that you enjoy a well-deserved break.
Giancarlo Gasparin
2024-05-10 20:34:02 +0000 UTCPenny was mentioned in the first movie. She was the admiral’s daughter he mentioned he got reprimanded for in a conversation with Goose.

2024-05-10 20:20:50 +0000 UTCTop Gun Maverick started shooting in San Diego, CA in May of 2018. It originally was going to premiere in theaters in July 12, 2019 but decided to premiere it in June 26, 2020 in order to shoot several complex action sequences. But then Covid-19 happened and the movie was rescheduled to premiere in summer 2021 but people in 2021 still weren’t going to the theaters to watch movies like they were before Covid happened. So they delayed it for May 2022. The fact that this movie is actually three in a half years old and came out 3 1/2 years after it was made and still resonated well and was a huge draw in the theaters and major premieres is what makes this movie so unique and special because of the circumstances in which this movie had to be released as late as 2022.
Christopher Palmer
2024-05-10 20:16:13 +0000 UTCAlso I saw the making for this movie and Tom Cruises and the actors also flew these planes themselves with cameras in the planes to get their facial reactions while they were flying. Look up the making of Top Gun Maverick on YouTube it’s really cool.

2024-05-10 20:04:16 +0000 UTCJust started my watch along, but I just wanted to say I hope you enjoy the years of comments telling you about Penny being the admirals daughter!
XanderWhat
2024-05-10 19:58:59 +0000 UTCMy favorite scene in the movie is when Penny leaves the door open while just .... sauntering ... into her house. God damn that was sexy.

2024-05-10 18:49:35 +0000 UTCTo refresh Natalie's memory: In Top Gun after the first "mission" when Goose and Mav were still on the aircraft carrier and getting chewed out by the short, bald, cigar smoking carrier captain who ended up sending them to Top Gun, he says, "You've been busted, you lost your qualifications as section leader three times, put in hack twice by me, with a history of high speed passes over five air control towers, and one admiral's daughter! Goose : Penny Benjamin? And then later, Meg Ryan's character Carole, Goose's wifey, is talking to him and Charlie at the bar while Goose is playing piano, and she spills the tea saying, "He told me all about the time you went ballistic with Penny Benjamin."
Mastervodo
2024-05-10 18:45:51 +0000 UTCI didn't watch this one in theatres because I thought a sequel would be trash and I was soooo surprised!!! There is a rumor going around that Penny was Cougars ex wife because of the picture in his cockpit showed his wife and daughter, but TOP GUN mentions Penny Benjamin in the 1st part the Admiral's daughter and when Goose's wife mentions her as well I don't think he would cheat with cougar's wife so there's that lol. Great reaction!!!
Jayson Phillips
2024-05-10 18:20:12 +0000 UTCAlso what he means by "foxtrot" teams are because the F-18 F(oxtrot) is a 2 seater. The 2 teams are a single seat F18-E which drops the bomb and the dual seater F18-F which uses the laser pod to designate the target.
Brian E
2024-05-10 18:14:42 +0000 UTCVal Kilmer actually lost his ability to speak a few years back. Highly recommend the movie VAL about how he is battling throat cancer and coming to grips with his legacy and how people view him now that he can’t perform or sing like he used to. Can we please get a reaction to The Doors? His performance is so good and I would love to celebrate his musical talent.

2024-05-10 17:19:57 +0000 UTCSomeone knew his father was goose. And he is cocky or probably always woke up early at flight school or his first squadron. So he gets a callsign like rooster.

2024-05-10 17:13:17 +0000 UTCWe know why we are here. Please always ramble. Please talk too much. And you taking the best care of yourself is the best possible thing you can do for us! Shoot! I was going to try to barter. I was going to suggest just make a video of you singing the entire Orange Colored Sky for us, and all would be 'forgiven'! 2024-05-10 16:49:42 +0000 UTCThe Darkstar scene in the beginning is actually real flying. They used a CGi mesh over it to look like Darkstar. to mimic the actual full scale model. They in fact used a Blue Angles F-18 Hornet to do the take off and it actually blew the roof off. There is behind the scenes showing how that was an accident but they kept it in the movie anyway.
LightsCameraJake
2024-05-10 16:46:46 +0000 UTCThis is the most impressive movie to me. The sheer fact that Hollywood and the navy hired Blue Angles Stunt pilots to actually fly the actors around in the backseat to do their lines. Even the mountain pass, and the climb with all that snow, they actually did for real. The actors were actually subjected up to 10Gs of force.

2024-05-10 16:02:42 +0000 UTCHaha that thumbnail Nat 😄😊 Happy Feature Friday. The perfect movie for a Friday evening. Been looking forward to watching this one with you. Getting over a cold this week Nat, so your video was the perfect medicine. I questioned whether we needed another Top Gun, but after coming out of the theatre after watching it, I was the first to admit that I was wrong. It did everything that you hoped it would do. It was just the perfect way to make a follow up and honour the original and it's characters and style. Bringing back Val Kilmer was a masterstroke, and so moving. The action was just intense and so exciting, watching the building up to the mission through the training. I love how you always ask the questions that the scriptwriters just don't want to answer ha ha 😄 Thanks for another awesome movie reaction today Nat, and as always, thanks for all your amazing work this week. I think everyone is ready to see you take some time for yourself. And not because we're sick of you, but because you've definitely earned it, and you deserve it 🤗 Have a brilliant weekend Nat 💛
