Oh my gosh, the "Maybe" song from the first Fallout game! I love the number of Easter Eggs that also nicely fits the show's ambience. I also liked the "negative karma" sound that played from the games when Maximus was lying to HQ.

2024-05-18 17:57:45 +0000 UTCThe Fallout Universe is an alternate future where Atomic Power took off so the 50s aesthetic never changed. The bombs falling in the first episode was in 2077. The cold war never really ended, but the "enemy communists" were Chinese, not Soviet.

2024-05-16 15:26:40 +0000 UTCThe clean shiny look is something only in the 4th game but it really does complement its gallows humor well haha. I still love the grittier look of 3 and New Vegas though, itβs cool seeing the differences in visual tone over the years.

2024-05-15 09:00:50 +0000 UTCThe Fallout universe is exactly what you said its absurd, often very dark but also very goofy and funny. It's the kind of world where the most horrible thing could happen and still have a funny punchline.

2024-05-15 06:17:30 +0000 UTCThe animated, smiling, thumbs-up mascot is called Vault Boy (or sometimes Vault Girl). He's been the mascot of the Fallout series since the beginning.

2024-05-15 02:23:11 +0000 UTCYou could always meet your friends on the west side and avoid LA traffic by using a private jet plane, like Taylor Swift

2024-05-14 23:11:32 +0000 UTCAlready looking forward to catching the next two episodes, Nat. I like how you are breaking down the story. The story might not be that complex but the characters really have me interested in where we're all heading next.

2024-05-14 21:14:52 +0000 UTCNone of these characters are in the games. This is a new story within the Fallout Canon.

2024-05-14 21:08:23 +0000 UTCOnly thing Maximus has going for him is endurance and maxed out luck lol
Marcus Carter
2024-05-14 19:21:40 +0000 UTCIt's a great adaptation from the game, the game also carries this campy yet serious at moments vibe. It's like you said, somehow it works, it's one of the many unique traits of this world.

2024-05-14 19:19:42 +0000 UTCThe next 2 episodes are by far my favorite. The mysteries gets so good

2024-05-14 18:10:37 +0000 UTCI like in this episode how Maximus failed his Barter skill check with the tinker! Ha! Those WERE fingers in the mouth of the gulper.

2024-05-14 17:50:13 +0000 UTCYour comments about LA traffic reminded me about when I visited California in 2015 (i'm from Sweden and it took 11 hours to fly to San Francisco). We rented a car and drove highway 1 down to LA over 8 days stopping a few days in Big Sur. Anyway, when we came to LA we were ASTONISHED by the traffic. Insanity. 10 lanes each direction and still we couldn't get past 20 mph. If it was like that in the center of LA i might understand but we had barely entered the city. We only stayed in LA for 2 days though because I am essentially allergic to heat and sun and it was scorching hot without a single cloud in sight. Still the best trip I have ever made.

2024-05-14 16:43:03 +0000 UTC"Thou shalt get sidetracked by bullshit every God damn time" is in fact a call back to the video games, where when you are doing the main story and end up doing side missions instead π

2024-05-14 16:41:17 +0000 UTCHey Nat, so a few things. The Ink Spots have been part of the Fallout equation since the beginning. See the Fallout 1 intro posted at the bottom. In terms of the food Lucy was eating, that is again a reference to the video game. You can find deviled eggs, sugar bombs cereal, potato crisps and other things around the world while exploring. Edit: The water chip that is mentioned at the town hall in the vault is another reference to the first Fallout game. The primary quest in that game is The Vault Dweller has to leave the vault to find a water chip to fix the broken one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weiRbViOdRU

2024-05-14 16:22:12 +0000 UTCOnly an hour and a half? Last time I was in L.A., it took a minimum of two hours to get anywhere. I went out to Griffith Observatory, and ended up having to get back to my hotel in Anaheim via a series of access roads and strip mall parking lots because it was impossible to get anywhere by the highway. (Plus side, I got to see a lot of the industrial-zoned parts of L.A., which is something most tourists probably don't see.)
