2024-08-31 22:15:23 +0000 UTCI had seen Arrival once, too. Also don't remember it. Just watched it again. It's non memorable. I have to recommend you skip it. 😕
Amy Watson
2024-08-31 18:25:21 +0000 UTCThere's still a bunch of TNG episodes I still haven't seen. A few episodes of the original series is all uou need to understand the dynamic. You should certainly watch Space Seed before seeing Star Trek 2. You don't have to but it does add more.
David Sumner
2024-08-31 00:19:25 +0000 UTCYou seriously dont need to watch all the shows to just watch the movies, even the newer ones. As somebody who didnt start watching the shows until after I seen all the movies, I still enjoyed and understood everything. Its annoying how when a reactor wants to get into a movie seeires and some people scare them off from it by saying they need to watch 100 million hours of bullshit first. So lets not go there. Nat wouldnt even commit to all that crap anyway.
Thats MR. Baldamort
2024-08-30 22:22:12 +0000 UTCGenuinely dismayed that more people are picking the overhyped Donnie Darko over Close Encounters. Arrival is great though so if it wins I'll be happy enough.
James Leighton
2024-08-30 11:07:09 +0000 UTCYou’ve talked about checking out Star Trek but there is a massive amount of Star Trek content, over 500 hours’ worth. A lot of the older stuff is dated, slow, and hard to get through. I highly recommend that instead of trying to go through a whole season, pick 3-4 of the best episodes from each season, maybe do a write in poll/ and the movies. Especially with The Next Generation, a lot of the better episodes don’t happen until the later seasons.
David Sumner
2024-08-30 04:17:46 +0000 UTCI second this. Andor is SO GOOD. Such great writing and character development compared to most recent Star Wars stuff. A little slow at first, but gets really intense mid-season and definitely emotional towards the ends. I can see it as something Natalie would expect not to enjoy but then really liking it by the end as it seems boring on the outside but is actually some of the best written recent Star Wars. Hopefully she checks it out eventually but who knows. Maybe when season 2 releases.

Ekkington
2024-08-29 02:47:47 +0000 UTCIt’s a complex movie, and Nat has been blown away by movies she’s seen before but didn’t really remember, I’m for it
Daniel McGuinness
2024-08-29 01:12:22 +0000 UTCAny excuse to watch Arrival again is good with me. So I voted Arrival.

2024-08-29 01:05:45 +0000 UTCGoing to pitch this again. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!! The Highlander!!! If only for the Great QUEEN soundtrack
Nick Mo
2024-08-28 23:17:10 +0000 UTCYou don’t get it and that’s ok, but from the masterpieces out there she hasn’t reacted to… these are the options. It’s okay still enjoy her reactions

2024-08-28 21:07:50 +0000 UTCSince it's from my youth, Close Encounters is my favorite of the choices.

2024-08-28 20:18:28 +0000 UTChere's to Darko! love that movie
MoulinNoir
2024-08-28 19:43:21 +0000 UTCSince she's seen it, the end is unlikely to hit her like a truck. I'm going with Donnie Darko since it's the top vote-getter she hasn't already seen.
Steve
2024-08-28 19:15:31 +0000 UTCArrival is the one tbh, that ending hit me like a truck
Daniel McGuinness
2024-08-28 18:27:42 +0000 UTCPretty sure she has. She gets the references to it in other movies

2024-08-28 17:52:40 +0000 UTCIf Donnie Darko wins I recommend NOT the directors cut. Its one of my favorite films of all time since its release. Rare case where the DC version is worse by many but if that's all available for streaming its still great.

2024-08-28 16:59:11 +0000 UTCOne day, Close Encounters...one day...
Tony Sanson
2024-08-28 16:56:53 +0000 UTCVoted, Natalie should do a western poll. 3:10 to Yuma Tombstone Dances With Wolves The Good, The Bad & The Ugly The Unforgiven Hostiles Lonesome Dove...the genre may not do so well with her recent Marvel fans, but I know I would like to see some of these in a future poll.
Stephen Lewis
2024-08-28 16:29:42 +0000 UTCIt's gotta be Donnie Darko!
Edward Rahardjo
2024-08-28 16:26:29 +0000 UTCI'm down with all of those recommendations, especially Dredd, still a travesty we didn't get a sequel
Mike Hell
2024-08-28 16:12:50 +0000 UTCAlex Garland is underrated as a writer, agree Sunshine would be great, also would love to see Annihilation, Dredd, and Civil War get reactions eventually.

2024-08-28 16:10:06 +0000 UTCWho is recommending widely seen and widely liked movies?
Erik Stevenson
2024-08-28 16:04:32 +0000 UTCI agree, but idk that it would ever win a poll unfortunately since it's not super well known, it's a fantastic movie though and I'd love to see Nat react to it.

2024-08-28 16:03:49 +0000 UTCDonnie Darko Wins WOHOOO! ....and now we wait🥶😅

2024-08-28 15:49:46 +0000 UTCDonnie Darko is such a strange and interesting movie. I hope it wins!

2024-08-28 15:33:49 +0000 UTCHave you already seen 2001: A Space Odyssey? Thats the scifi movie that started it all and is still as fantastic as the day it was released

2024-08-28 15:21:00 +0000 UTCI need your help getting Natalie to watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel . If you have not heard of this show, it's an American period comedy-drama television series. Amazon Original that has won multiple Golden Globes and Critic Choice awards. And you should see for yourself.
James Fisher
2024-08-28 15:19:10 +0000 UTCI'm pulling for DD but I don't like its chances. People have been clamoring for Arrival for a while so I imagine it will win handily. I'm a fan of all of these films (even Close Encounters which is kinda boring) but as others have said, I hope you'll add Sunshine to your SciFi watchlist soon, it's a great one.
Mike Hell
2024-08-28 15:12:14 +0000 UTCreally hope donnie darko doesnt win lmao what a nothing movie WAR OF THE WORLDSSS

2024-08-28 14:59:18 +0000 UTCI was just thinking of Donnie Darko this past weekend.

2024-08-28 14:59:04 +0000 UTCI hope Sunshine (sci-fi) makes it on your list sometime.

Natalie Gold
2024-08-28 14:40:49 +0000 UTCIf you watch Donny Darko, I strongly recommend the Director's Cut. It's a lot more understandable.
Stephen Ray
2024-08-28 14:27:51 +0000 UTCI'm hoping Darko wins! Close Encounters is "classic" - but that doesn't mean it's not pretty boring.

2024-08-28 14:23:23 +0000 UTCThis list is missing Contact w Jodie Foster
Gary
2024-08-28 14:13:27 +0000 UTCThat was my worry. I thought it would be a fun stream idea. Everyone sitting around listening to War of the Worlds but youtube and copy right can be a hassle. The War of the Worlds, Orson Welles 1938 radio drama would be a fun idea as well, less copy right issues.
LittleGalaxyBoy
2024-08-28 13:56:51 +0000 UTCWas just going on a 70s sci-fi deep dive. Close Encounters and A Clockwork Orange are indispensable.

2024-08-28 13:56:07 +0000 UTCDonnie darko for the soundtrackkk
Jerry Gonzalez
2024-08-28 13:54:47 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if there has actually been a movie, other than a concert movie, done of "Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds" (1978). It is a terrific concept album, and it is genuinely one of the albums that first got me into prog rock. Richard Burton's narration gives me goosebumps. But Natalie would probably encounter some serious copywrite issues.
Miles E Coburn
2024-08-28 13:49:59 +0000 UTCHave you seen Forest Gump?
devin flynn
2024-08-28 13:49:25 +0000 UTCCome on people. Stop picking the recent stuff just because it's recent (besides, she's already seen it). Close Encounters is a complete classic. Everyone should see it.
Caomhan84
2024-08-28 13:46:12 +0000 UTCI assume it's the 2005 film as that movie was simply titled "War of the Worlds" While the classic was The War of the Worlds (1953). Same vibes as Suicide Squad (2016) and The Suicide Squad (2021), very easy to overlook and forget which one is which.

2024-08-28 13:37:06 +0000 UTCArrival any day of the week, one of my favourite sci fi movies✨✨✨
Jordan
2024-08-28 13:36:31 +0000 UTCI'd recommend Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds (1978) any day over the films. Such an amazing musical treat that's much more faithful to the 1895 novel than the more Americanized films. The films are still enjoyable but very much their own thing with small parallels to the novel. Could be a fun stream idea, though copy right may be a bitch. But highly recommend checking it out in your free time. I often listen to the whole album while studying. Killraven: War of the Worlds is also a really interesting series of comics with a cool Marvel spin on War of the Worlds. I wouldn't complain if Marvel one day released a TV special of War of the Worlds like what we they did with Werewolf by Night. Though not sure who actually own the rights to War of the Worlds, Novel is public domain.

2024-08-28 13:31:16 +0000 UTCLove her but WHO is reccomending these????
Chishiya
2024-08-28 13:24:55 +0000 UTCHas to be close Encounters. It’s one of the greatest movies of all time and an important movie in semi-modern history. Arrival is okay, but CEOTTK helped to change movie history. It’s a classic.
Daniel Green
2024-08-28 13:22:11 +0000 UTCI never seen Donnie Darko but I hear it’s a classic
Narutoanime16
2024-08-28 13:19:29 +0000 UTCWould like Donnie or Close above the others if you have seen them once already. Better to see something completely new and both are very recommended.
Pickupthepieces76
2024-08-28 13:18:35 +0000 UTCFully agree, Baggie Mark. Close Encounters of the Third Kind made me a Spielberg fan for life. Arrival, which is currently in the lead, is great, but Close Encounters is a must see! (Ideally, both, but we’ve only got one vote 🙄)
David Olden
2024-08-28 13:17:08 +0000 UTCI'm voting for the films nat has not seen at all. Close encounters mainly. Arrival stereotypically wins every polls in every community and I find it annoying at this point that people have not depth to the films they watch.
Thats MR. Baldamort
2024-08-28 13:15:57 +0000 UTCHappy Wednesday Nat. Going to vote again for the classic Spielberg / Williams collab (no, not War of the Worlds) - Close Encounters. One of these days it will win 🤞😊 Have a great day Nat 💛
Darryl Low
2024-08-28 13:15:38 +0000 UTCwhich "War of the Worlds"? the new one (with Tom Cruise) or the classic?
Chris Lane- Venturi 3D
2024-08-28 13:09:57 +0000 UTCIf Nats never seen Close Encounters, then I think we need to vote for that as it's a classic..
