Original Movie: Deadpool and Wolverine
Comments
Late to this waited until the Disney plus drop. The movie is fun enough and I like Ryan and Hugh’s dynamic but I’ve got to say at this point I find Deadpool the weakest part of his own film. Most of his jokes in this just felt like regurgitating stuff you’d see on Twitter. Also Hugh gives a good performance but this is the second time they set up wolverine having a dark secret involving the death of the x-men like in the old man Logan comic and it’s the second time they wussed out on the reveal. Now in Logan it actually worked by making it Charles fault and Logan was protecting him from it but here it’s just “I got drunk and they died” it just lacks that punch. In the OML comic he killed the X-Men after the villians teamed up and used illusions and stuff to make him think he was fighting them in reality he was butchering his friends. Could’ve easily set up the reveal that was what happened and then reveal later that Cassandra is from his universe originally and she was the one that messed with his mind to do it. I think it would’ve hit harder.

2024-11-13 10:36:30 +0000 UTC:) Really enjoyed this reaction! I'm surprised that I didn't watch this earlier.. guessing that I had things going on when this was posted. Glad that you had a fun time with it. I have a TERRIBLE memory except when it comes to things that I enjoy or have to do with the things that I enjoy. Funky how it works like that. ::P

2024-11-07 18:46:38 +0000 UTCSince you haven't seen the Fantastic Four movies, you should know that the whole Human Torch gag that ends in Chris Evan's end credit scene monologue is very much the kinda thing Johnny would do. Johnny is a massive shit talker who occasionally ruins the F4's attempts at peaceful resolutions with villains. So him speaking ballsy behind her back is totally something he would do, he just didn't expect Deadpool to actually be crazy enough to quote him directly to Cassandra.

2024-10-22 05:06:42 +0000 UTCSome cameo breakdowns!!! : - Antman corpse compound scenes had a lot of characters from plenty of older Marvel movies (X-men, Punisher, etc.) - Elektra had a movie that was spun off of Ben Affleck's Daredevil movie, and then proceeded to get divorced so that's why she says she didn't really care that Daredevil died. - The Blade movies starring Wesley Snipes were some of the earlier Marvel movies and the third one starred Ryan Reynolds. They famously did not get along on set so it was a massive surprise to have him back. - Gambit is a special cameo because a Gambit movie was announced to be in production at the same ComicCon where Deadpool released its first trailer. Channing wanted to be Gambit as badly as Ryan Reynolds wanted to be Deadpool so it was a heartbreak for everyone including when Fox announced its plans to cancel the production and then sold to Disney right after.

2024-10-22 00:50:07 +0000 UTCGreat reaction Nat!! I loved your hair it was beautiful btw! It was great to see Ryan Reynolds get Blade back they were in Blade 3 together and they had a falling out you could say lol.

2024-10-21 16:00:58 +0000 UTCThe first two Blade films are solid films. I don’t know where you got your perception of the films being bad, if by reviews or some of the other Patreons but they’re worth the watch. They’re not exceptionally great but they’re fun to watch. Edit: Guess I forgot you mentioned you saw the reviews for it. Nat, never fully trust reviews from critics. If you wanna go be y reviews, go by the audience reviews. Which is basically 80% on RT for Blade.
NFXx
2024-10-21 08:48:33 +0000 UTCI mean all opinions matter. This movie made a crap ton of money but you could tell nat wasn’t completely feeling it. Because it focused more on fan service than actual story line. And if you’re not familiar with a lot of marvel comics then you didn’t get a lot of it.

2024-10-21 03:05:03 +0000 UTCMovie made over $1 billion so your opinion doesn’t matter

2024-10-20 23:55:11 +0000 UTCLots a butt hurt blade fans have entered the chat. It’s not a good movie. It just exists. Also my biggest issue with this movie was how weak Logan’s back story was. It hurt the final scene. If only they spent more time on in and less time on dog pool :/

2024-10-20 04:27:21 +0000 UTCWell, I was gonna comment that you really need to watch the Blade movies, but I guess that's already covered lol

2024-10-16 14:14:48 +0000 UTCWait no Blade reaction because of "Bad Reviews"? Come on Nat. You reacted to Madam Web which has terrible reviews lol. Blade is a classic! fun flick definitely deserves a watch! a lot better than some modern day MCU crap tbh.

2024-10-16 12:39:11 +0000 UTCLike I give Blade all the love in the world and support. But to say 99% basically all of the movies. Is crazy people act like 4 or 5 movies means the MCU is garbage. There's been a lot of films from MCU that can compete or are just as good.

2024-10-16 05:20:30 +0000 UTCMy first thought on THAT monologue was 'Christ Evans! You kiss people's mothers with that mouth?!' Also, my brain is about the opposite to yours... mine remembers all of the lore. Doesn't remember important things like what I went to the shops for, but I watched all the marvel movies... well, not the remake of Fantastic 4, but I saw the ones with Evans... I even went to see Green Lantern (DC, but still. And in my defence, I had only seen reviews for it saying it was awful., I hadn't seen how bad it was myself yet.) and Daredevil - though I did forget that he played Foggy Nelson to Ben Affleck's Daredevil - but pretty much all the others, I did get... even knew that Channing Tatum - whose accent, apparently, according to actual people from Louisiana, is actually pretty good - was trying to get a Gambit movie for years (Hence the 'I might have been born here' line). Seeing this in the cinema, seeing Garner as Elektra, then Snipes as Blade (which is a fucking awesome movie btw... seriously) (also, the guy who played the villain in Luke Cage has was cast as Blade in a remake, but there've been issues/stuff and it's in doubt whether it'll happen after-all - hence HIS line in the Honda Odyssey, and Deadpool's look at the camera - the line's either prophetically accurate or amusingly ironically wrong), and then Channing fucking Tatum as motherfucking Gambit!! and then Dafne Keen as Laura!!! My geeky little mind was blown. fully. Oh, and 2 little nuggets. 1. just a bit you missed whilst laughing... Deadpool said "Who was your dialect coach..? The minions?!" to Gambit. you missed the 'The Minions' part... which just elevates that even more really. And 2. Welshpool was played by Wrexham AFC striker Peter Mullin.

2024-10-16 04:49:11 +0000 UTCThink your reaction kinda shows that this movie is definitely made to satisfy older fans of comic book movies. I didn’t notice just how many references there were first time around because I got most of them aha It does suffer a little on a rewatch I’ll admit, and Logan’s backstory for being the “worst one” was weak considering how it was hyped up. But I do enjoy the movie, it’s a fun action blockbuster and it satisfied my geek cravings so 😌 and there are some stellar jokes in here And the soundtrack BANGS!! Also yeah watch Blade I guess, but more importantly watch Daredevil (2003) for some real cinema x
Daniel McGuinness
2024-10-16 02:31:38 +0000 UTCBruh, Blade is what started the marvel universe. If it were not for the success of blade then x men wouldnt of been a thing nor the MCU. Saying you didnt watch for "bad reviews" while you have seen far shittier movies on your channel is knee slapping comically hilarious. The first 2 blade films MADE marvel. However if you are going to watch them just to pick the movies apart and shit on them, nobody wants to see that. Go in with the mindset of where Marvel found its footing.
Thats MR. Baldamort
2024-10-16 00:01:55 +0000 UTCI would absolutely give Blade 1 a shot as it is a fun film. Also regarding Channing Tatum as Gambit. Some time after the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine came out (which had Gambit in it), plans were put in motion to do a Gambit solo film. And they got as far as casting Channing Tatum as Gambit. And then it got cancelled. And so all those jokes in the movie about Gambit feeling like he never really began are about that cancelled movie. As for the Henry Cavil stuff, Ryan Reynolds I think in interviews tried to imagine the one actor other than Hugh Jackman who could possibly play Wolverine, and that's who he came up with. And there's also the added dimension of WB and DC choosing not to keep Henry Cavill as Superman, followed by Dwayne Johnson going over peoples' heads and promising he'll still be Superman, followed by WB CEO David Zaslav rebooting the whole thing with James Gunn and Peter Safran in charge. Long story short, Henry Cavill got screwed. And arguably so did James Gunn, as he is still blamed by some for the screwing of Henry Cavill, even though exes like Walter Hamada didn't want Cavill, and Gunn was initially hired to write a reboot.

2024-10-15 19:11:29 +0000 UTCHope your plumbing issues are squared away. blade 1 is a fun and fast straight 90’s action thriller. Blade 2 is the superior film in all facets. Blade 3 is a dull. I like to pretend it never happen but we do get introduced to Ryan reynolds in that film so 🤷🏻♂️

2024-10-14 22:12:53 +0000 UTCgreat movie. I had a lot of fun. I watched it in the theater twice. For me the first two movies were better. I think this movie relied a lot on cameos and easter eggs. Not that there's something wrong with that. I had a lot of fun, but if someone didn't watch all the old movies all the cameos and easter eggs wouldn't have any meanings and the movie wouldn't be as good for them as it was for me. I mean the daredevil movie was really not good. So if someone didn't know who Elektra is, I couldn't blame them. Or Channing Tatum as Gambit. If someone didn't follow the casting news closely they wouldn't even understand the reference or all the jokes he made in the movie. But for someone that has been watching all those movies since childhood, this movie is a beautiful love letter and a perfect goodbye to the Fox era. It's a fun movie with a lot of hearts and I enjoyed it a lot.

2024-10-14 22:08:48 +0000 UTCSo Nat, you clearly but understandably missed some key references lol. Chris Evans was actually cast as Johnny Storm in the first two 20th Century Fox Marvel Fantastic Four movies, hence the funny swerve. And the guy controlling fire is Pyro(same actor) from X2 & X-Men 3:The Last Stand. And Elektra was in the first Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck. They used to be married so her “it’s fine” line was a little jab at Ben. So many references to get, it’s hard to catch them all for anyone frankly.

2024-10-14 20:54:45 +0000 UTCThis film has its cake and eats it. Cameos and multiverse are a crutch that Deadpool can get away with simply by acknowledging it. But like Loki or No Way Home they took that crutch and made it meaningfully meta. Deadpool literally fights to save his franchise! That's why I also get confused when people get annoyed with the 'multiverse'. The films that dont escalate on Endgame multiverse storytelling (Shang Chi, Black Widow) are forgotten whilst the ones that are successful multiverse stories (No Way Home, Deadpool 3) Are beloved.. If people dont want multiverse stories featuring their old favourites what do they want? More Captain Marvel?? Either people need to reset their expectations or the MCU needs to reset...
George Baxter
2024-10-14 20:42:15 +0000 UTCI forgot she didnt watch Loki Season 2! This is the problem with MCU atm. Some people can take the good with the bad. Nat only acknowledges the bad...

2024-10-14 20:19:21 +0000 UTCThank you Natalie for the reaction and yes you are correct there was a ton of lore in this that you kinda need to have watched older Marvel stuff for, with that being said, PLEASE! watch Blade (1998), at least the first one, it's really good, even though you can tell the graphics are from the 90's and it sort of fits into your Natmares for October.

2024-10-14 16:28:24 +0000 UTCSomething I really appreciated about this movie was the opening credits. Deadpool 1 and 2 had the credits at the very end and I was never a fan of that, but this time they acknowledged everyone just like James Gunn did with the Guardians franchise. The quality took me by surprise because this is a Deadpool movie. Deadpool 1 and 2 were made to intentionally look like total CGI, but with the MCU involved they had to raise the bar. It paid off more than well. Also, I don’t think the MCU was necessarily at a low point except with Secret Invasion. Most of the projects they revealed after Endgame were pretty excellent. Guardians Volume 3 and Loki season 2 helped pick up the slack and more. What I was most excited for was for you guys to see Laura again. Dafne Keen was only 10-11 years old when she worked on Logan 2017 which was her big acting debut. Now she’s 19 and after all these years she can still channel that rage. Dafne had doubts as to whether she would be able to portray Laura the same way or better. Now that she’s back, she actually wants to continue with her role. Before my sister and I went to see this movie on opening weekend, I joined for her first time watching Loki season 2. She enjoyed this movie even more for it, and she also liked certain characters that were introduced in the second run. By the way, this is the second X-Men film to have Bye Bye Bye. The first one was X-Men 2. However, that’s not Ryan Reynolds in the suit. That was a pro dancer who needed to come up with the choreo as fast as he could. And finally, there are two variants in the Deadpool Corps that I wanna acknowledge. First, English soccer player Paul Mullin appeared as Welshpool. He currently plays in the Welsh club Wrexham which is co-owned by Ryan. You can also see Paul in the doc series Welcome to Wrexham. Our second mention is none other than Tom Holland’s brother Harry. He got to portray his own take on the merc with the mouth. They call him Haroldpool.

2024-10-14 16:22:34 +0000 UTCReturning Characters: Johnny Storm: First up, we have Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, who made his debut in Fantastic Four #1 (1961) alongside the Fantastic Four. This team kicked off the Marvel Era of comics, becoming Marvel's first family. Chris Evans famously played the character in Fantastic Four (2005) and its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) under 20th Century Fox before being casted as Captain America a few years later. However, the version we see in the film appears to be a variant, not the same Johnny Storm from the films. This likely applies to the rest of his Fantastic Four as well, whom we assume were also pulled into the void and met their end. Why do I think that this Johnny is a variant? Because I don't want the Johnny, along with the F4 I loved from those films to have died :( We also got a glimpse of the Fantasticar, modelled after the version from the 1960s comics rather than the modern one featured in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) used by Chris Evans' Fantastic Four. It's unclear who owns the Fantasticar shown in Deadpool & Wolverine. Perhaps the variant of Chris Evans' Human Torch in this film comes from a reality inspired by the Silver Age of Marvel Comics, home to a 1960s Fantastic Four, Avengers, and X-Men. Though his hairstyle and mannerisms seem more modern day so my guess is that there could be multiple versions of the Fantastic Four in the void, similar to the "Loki variant community" we saw in Loki. It’s almost a running joke how 20th Century Fox could never do justice to the Fantastic Four. From the 2000s films to the failed 2015 reboot that only created so that Fox could hold onto the rights. Their attempts always fell short of capturing what makes Marvel’s First Family so special. So I like to imagine that's why the void may be home to so many versions of the F4. Shining light on how mishandled the IP has been under Fox and that the Void is filled with failed F4 projects. Blade: Next up, we have Blade, who first appeared in The Tomb of Dracula #10 (July 1973) as a supporting character before eventually getting his own series. Wesley Snipes reprises his iconic role as the vampire hunter, having previously played the character in Blade (1998) along with its sequels Blade II (2002) and Blade: Trinity (2004). Notably, Snipes had a difficult working relationship with co-star Ryan Reynolds on Blade: Trinity, reportedly Snipes stayed in character and only responding to the name "Blade" throughout filming. Gambit: We finally see Gambit, first introduced in The Uncanny X-Men #266 (1990), portrayed here by Channing Tatum. Tatum was originally cast as Gambit for a solo film that was ultimately cancelled. He even appeared at Comic-Con 2015 alongside the casts of Deadpool (2016) and Fantastic Four (2015), wearing a Gambit T-shirt. In a humorous twist, Tatum returned nine years later still wearing the same shirt after the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, and was pulled on stage after they screened the full film for the audience. Throughout this film, Gambit hints at his uncertainty about whether he was born in the void, suggesting he never had the chance to be a hero. This is a fun nod to Tatum never having the chance to play Gambit. The void in the film is essentially one big commentary on 20th Century Fox and all its mishandling of Marvel projects. Elektra: Lastly, we have Elektra, who first appeared in Daredevil #168 (1981). Jennifer Garner reprises her role as Elektra from Daredevil (2003) alongside Ben Affleck's Daredevil, and from her own spinoff film Elektra (2005), where she truly embraced the character. The scene where she responds to a comment about Daredevil's death with, "It’s fine," is a playful nod to her real-life relationship with Affleck. This seems to be the same Elektra from the film as well. Background Characters: There are several other characters as well, many of whom are re-cast versions of existing Marvel characters from the Fox-era films, some of them played by the same actors. These include a version of Bullseye from Daredevil, as well as Azazel, Lady Deathstrike, Blob, Psylocke, and, of course, Juggernaut based on his appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand but portrayed by a different actor. All of these characters are members of Nova's crew, having found themselves lost in the void.

2024-10-14 16:16:54 +0000 UTCHair looks great Nat! Dodge those adult responsibilities, its fine. Was looking forward to this reaction. We don't have much Cajun representation in the film industry, so we cherish it when it comes along, gratuitous cameos included 😆 Also my favorite fun fact of this movie is that they offered Chris Evans cue cards to cheat for that end credits scene, but he apparently refused because he always plays a good guy and never gets to say crazy stuff like this. He wanted to memorize the lines so he could sell it.
