FIRST TIME WATCHING: 28 Days Later

SURPRISE!! I finally found a way to watch this movie! Ever since this won a poll, I've been wracking my brain on how to film this and I'm so happy it finally came to fruition.

I know this is one of those films that a lot of folks will have a tough time watching with me, considering how hard it is to get ahold of. Hopefully, those of you who can't watch along with me understand and will enjoy the YouTube reaction instead.

Per some of your comments on the Inglourious Basterds post, I did include the raw outro in this video to leave you with some of my thoughts. I'm not including the intro as I like keeping my intros edited and more polished.

Hope y'all enjoy! As always, thank you for your support here on Patreon. Until the next one, take care and stay golden :)

P.S. You may notice a few cuts in this reaction. This is due to the fact that this movie kept buffering while I was watching it. Unfortunately, the website wouldn't let me download the file so I just edited around this issue as best I could. It should not impact your viewing experience too much. You just might notice a few cuts in the reaction.

Original Movie: 28 Days Later

Comments

Brendan Gleeson is always fantastic. Highly recommend The Banshees of Inisherin, In Brugges, Cavalry and The Guard to see just how great he is.

Tarjei

28 days Later is now available again to watch on Amazon and YouTube I think. I use to have it on DVD years ago. I'll be checking it out soon.

Redrum Sacrament

I prefer this one to that - but that's me.

Logan Kerlee

You definitely need to do the sequel '28 Weeks Later'! alittle more 'american'ized' but its got a great surprisingly star studded cast, and just a solid sequel tbh!

Blitztah

One of my all time favorites, it changed the way zombie movies/shows were made..

Victor

World War Z would be pretty fun too!

Heliastein

28 weeks later is also fantastic. The opening sequence is probably my favourite zombie scene of all time. the rest of the movie isn't as good but still very fun

Josh R

You survived my favorite horror movie!!! So glad you were able to do this, I had a blast watching it with you. If you’re up for it, check out “Girl With All The Gifts”

Tony

This is great. you should watch braveheart, robin hood prince of thieves, stargate

Kraackin

🇮🇪💚Cillian Murphy

Degea40

Thank for the reaction, it's such a good movie! The sequel btw is not as good EXCEPT the intro scene which is amazing.

Berry

YES!!! I have managed to find a DVD version of this film on Amazon for just under £5, should get it tomorrow. really looking forward to Nat's reaction to this film.

Baggie Mark

ahhh I must've blinked at the wrong time haha

Natalie Gold

haha fair point

Natalie Gold

Thank you for your thoughts in the outro. Always nice to hear a reactors opinion, especially from someone who is/has been involved in the film industry.

Kevin Farrell

Just Google 28 days later free and a bunch of options will pop up

Kevin Farrell

Aww i wish i could watch this with you

Rey

Omg I'm sooo happy you were able to make this happen, was excited when it won the poll, and then bummed out to find out that its one of those films that stuck in "right ownership" hell. For those who don't want to don their pirate flag or do their best Captain Jack Sparrow impressions, with the new 28 Years Later coming out in less than a year, surely the OG will get a re-release.

Noctis

The kid zombie DID say “I hate you!” 👀 The thing about the zombies in these movies is that they’re not actually dead, just living humans infected with a ‘rage’ virus that causes extreme violence and aggression - hence the only cure suggested by Eccleston being letting them starve to death

Daniel McGuinness

Nat, the river Thames is full of literal shit and (allegedly) corpses… using that water you might as well get bit 😂

Daniel McGuinness

Cillian Murphy's shirt got ripped off when climbing over the wall with barbed wire. They show it.

Connor Ellis

Yar Har Fiddle Dee Dee

Mastervodo

Yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me

Kevin Farrell

I was getting settled in to enjoy the movie, but then just watching the intro made me anxious even though I've already seen it

Alex Le

The debate would seemingly be related to "zombies" being a term describing the dead rising. The people in 28 Days Later aren't dead.

Steve

I actually have this movie on DVD from when I bought it in 2003!

David Sumner

Jim's shirt was caught in the razor wire at the top of the wall he jumped over, in case that wasn't clear, and I know, "handcuffs...!", presumably it just ripped?

Keith Jacobsen

In regards to the opening scene in the ape lab, yeah I like animals too, and care about how they're treated, but it's important to not get tunnel vision. Do you understand how many VERY important treatments, vaccines, and cures have only been possible through animal testing?

Keith Jacobsen

So happy I’m a Blu-ray collector

Daniel Casillas

28 weeks later next?

jamie jones

Ok now you have to watch War World Z Nat ;D

Fiorella Burgos

I'm watching a copy on Dailymotion. If you do a Google search for "28 Days Later 2002" you will find it. Glad to finally watch this film.

Just this morning, Cinebinge reacted to "Sunshine", which is another Danny Boyle-directed movie, and one of the best pure Sci-Fi movies out there. Nat if you liked the cinematic artistry of this movie, and the music..... Sunshine is quite a few notches above. Not to exaggerate, but it's imagery is stunning, and the music that goes with it is also amazing! And I won't tell you the entire cast (Think back to how surprised you were at the cast for Scott Pilgrim) ... but Cillian Murphy is the main protagonist. And, if you want to feel feelings... I posted the vid/song Adiago in D Minor in the Discord music channel. Put on some headphones, close your eyes, and just... feel... that song. A lesser known song from that movie is "Avenue of Hope" by I am Kloot. Very jazzy, smoke-filled pub kinda song. Also posted. Enjoy.

Mastervodo

Are we sailing the high seas for this one? 🏴‍☠️ Yo ho yo ho 🏴‍☠️

Kyle

Love this movie. Can't remember if I have the dvd though. May have to wait for the youtube edit.

matthew h

i got a link if yall need it :) - you can also just google it and it shows up xD

Simon Bauer

aww so sorry to hear that Ian! Hope everything get's a little easier soon ❤️

Natalie Gold

You say that, but Boyle himself doesn’t consider it a zombie movie. Regardless, I’ve always regarded it as a zombie movie in my eyes. There's a whole rabbit hole of people stating otherwise though, even to this day.

LittleGalaxyBoy

Fun fact: "the "empty London" scenes in 28 Days Later were achieved by filming at dawn and simply asking people to stop walking through shots, as there was no room in the $8m budget to actually shut down any parts of the city."

OttoBee

Does anyone know a country that has this avaliable on stream? Hopefully my VPN will let me watch it.

Baggie Mark

Bait it was always a zombie film

Kyle Turning Robe

OMG what a great surprise, I love this film but I never thought you'd watch this one Nat. Bet you loved the fast zombies 🧟‍♂️ , not slow ones like the walking dead lol

Baggie Mark

Young Tommy Shelby 😆

Crispin

You should look into "Shallow Grave" (1994) also directed by Danny Boyle and INTRODUCING baby faced Ewan McGregor. It is a dark(!) comedy/thriller about a roommate situation (no spoilers) and it's awesome.

Wally

I'm always surprised to see debates online to this day about "This is not a zombie movie." I understand why, though. Zombies as a genre are extremely overdone, so it makes sense that people, including directors themselves, would want to distance themselves from the whole "It's just another zombie movie" mindset, especially after many people got burnt out by the genre. But 28 Days Later is a damn good zombie movie and that's nothing to be ashamed off. They put a unique spin on the zombie idea and that's what we need more of in zombie media. Side note: This film is one of the reasons I enjoyed ZombiU (2012). It’s a zombie game for the Will U set in London where you play as a new character every time you die. Truly felt like I was playing through a 28 Days Later game, rare to see zombie media set in the UK.

LittleGalaxyBoy

Take care buddy

Darryl Low

Why is it so hard to find 28 Days Later? Indeed, Disney lost the rights to the independently financed original film, with them now only owning the rights to the Searchlight-financed sequel, 28 Weeks Later. That's why you can't find it on streaming sites and why the Blu-ray Disc is out of print. So unfortunately no legal way to get this movie in HD quality.

Peter Heine

Oh good! A zombie movie! Natalie looooooves zombie movies!

Mastervodo

Wooo!

Danishprince

Getting back from work and heading straight to the hospital to visit my dad daily is leaving me zero time to watch anything but hope those that have the dvd enjoy watching along with nat 👍

Ian

Cillian's first movie! I enjoyed the sequel more. And the third part just wrapped filming I believe. This was terrifying when it came out.

adrianR31

Happy Thursday Nat. It's awesome that you managed to crack it and watch this movie. I'm going to try and watch it with you using my DVD 😊 Had to pause the DVD every few minutes to keep it in sync, but it was worth it to watch your reaction to this Nat ha ha 😊 This movie being shot on digital videotape gives it a real, raw look that adds to the terror. I love movies where you see the empty streets and the desolation. Thanks for going the extra mile to watch this movie Nat. Really enjoyed watching it with you this evening 💛
