Just watching episode 1 of season 2 is feeling like a better season already. What I love about sequels and new seasons of a show is the expansion and new characters. I loved Maddie right away just in her first scene with Vi and I love peanuts big soft lol. Can't tell if Maddie's cute voice is Scottish or Irish. She's already showing potential as a bad ass. I also like the similar opposites. Vi witnessed the enforcers killing her parents and Caitlin witnessing Jinx killing her mother and now people from the Undercity attacking at a memorial at their most vulnerable moment. It reminds me of the Pearl Harbor attacks. The only flaw still is Imagine Dragons song. All the other sings are sooooo much better. SO what if you don't remember all the names, Natalie. I always forgot names of characters in a show also. On to the next episode

2024-12-01 18:29:35 +0000 UTCI liked season 1 very much. I didn't fawn over it like some did, but I still thought it was excellent. I'm fawning over this episode. From the emotional 1st act to the constantly rising political tension to the attack which ratchets up the stakes for at least the 1st arc and possibly the whole season. Perfect first episode and no let down after a great first season! The music as always was on point. I liked the softer version of "Heavy Is The Crown." Wasn't expecting that. Only complaint? Needed more Jinx. (I know that's coming though)

There's some hidden visual cues that there's something going on, as well as the fact the Jayce noticed that he and Mel are totally fine. If you look at council room in the first meeting scene (the one with Cait and Mel right after the funeral where it starts to rain), there's a wide shot where you can see a perfect circle of unharmed floor and council table, exactly where Mel and Jayce are. I think there's a good reason they survived, they just haven't fully explained it yet.

Still a great show don't get me wrong, but it's a bit annoying when the main characters are just perfectly fine when they set them up to die as a cliff hanger spoilers below I also wish that later, when the whole big fight scene here was explained, they would've added a scene to explain why Mel wasn't shot. It would've been so easy and it perfectly lines up with what was explained and shown. Could've just had her mom say "do all this, but don't kill her." And it would've been so great, ik it probably happened, but they should've shown it.

2024-11-13 20:14:06 +0000 UTCThe first episode had 2 awesome music cues to go with the stunning animation. "I Can't Hear It Now" by Freya Ridings and "Heavy is the Crown", a Linkin Park song sung by Emily Armstrong. When I heard the first song the first time, I first thought it was Amy Lee, lead singer of Evanescence. I don't know if Freya has a powerhouse voice like Amy does, but that song just set the right tone of mourning to begin. The 2nd song was just built up so well. Starting off light and somber, and ramping up to give you goosebumples as the VI reveal and "hero shot" brought it to it's full hard rock vocal fry PEAK! What a great first episode! What a great series! I love how Arcane uses these different animation and artistic styles to tell their story. The opening montage where it's mostly charcoal artistry, with only the main characters being in color, for example. I've seen the other 2 episodes, and they do something different and special each time. Every scene is a work of art. No "filler" or shortcuts. Looking forward to Thursday and Friday for 2nd and 3rd eps!

The 2nd single off of it is called "Heavy is the Crown", the piano version and parts of the actual chorus are what you heard in the episode. Linkin Park teamed up with League of Legends for this.
