Which movie should I watch after The Incredible Hulk?
Added 2020-09-05 01:08:06 +0000 UTCHey guys!
The Incredible Hulk reaction will be coming soon! But which movie do you think I should watch after that? Let me know your thoughts below. Thanks!
P.S. All of these are movies I’ve never seen 🙃

Haven't seen many reactions to tombstone. Is this something that you missed growing up? Definitely worth the watch.

2020-09-21 02:30:46 +0000 UTCPossible movies for a vote in the future: Donnie Darko (original, not directors cut), American Psycho, 12 Monkeys, The Bodyguard, The Birdcage, Fast & Furious in its entirety (in the proper sequence, fast fam you know what I mean) Robocop (original), Heavyweights

2020-09-16 02:55:31 +0000 UTCThe Last Samurai is probably my favorite of these. But I love Japan and the history of Japan. And from what I understand and have heard from other experts, it's pretty accurate. It does feel like a "white savior" type movie, but I think it subverts it if you actually pay some attention to the movie beyond the obvious. Amazing characters that you care for. Can be a tear jerker.

2020-09-12 04:37:23 +0000 UTCAll four of these movies are awesome!

2020-09-10 21:05:58 +0000 UTCNot a big fan of any of these, but Gladiator is fun, at least, and bears a passing resemblance to actual history. Saving Private Ryan is pretty well-made, but bloody, violent, and a bit message-heavy. Braveheart is laughably bad history, and The Last Samurai is mostly a Tom Cruise vessel. I agree with some of Paul's suggestions. If you're looking for an exciting history-based movie, The Hunt for Red October is one of the best ever. Shawshank is great. On the other hand, I didn't get District 9, but maybe that's just me.

2020-09-08 13:59:39 +0000 UTCI would also add: Idiocracy. Lately, it's become a sort of documentary.

2020-09-07 19:31:25 +0000 UTCall good suggestions. Office Space is a great fun classic. I quote that thing all the time!

2020-09-07 19:30:34 +0000 UTCThis is so true - you really don’t expect it to be such a great film going in.

2020-09-06 11:34:22 +0000 UTCAnother great historical action-drama is The Last of the Mohicans

2020-09-06 04:02:02 +0000 UTCConsider “Beautiful Girls”. One of the last lines of the movie is “Stay Golden!, stay Golden forever!”
RickyRay
2020-09-06 01:57:45 +0000 UTCI love Star Wars, Lord Of The Rings, etc... I'm not familiar enough with the Roman times, but am familiar with one warrior and know the story is off, but that's all I know with Gladiator (just know it as a fighter name).
Travis
2020-09-06 01:45:57 +0000 UTCYou should watch all of them eventually! Also, if you haven't seen Master and Commander: Far Side of The World, I highly recommend it. It fits in genre wise with all of the films in this poll. It was nominated for Best Picture the same year as LOTR: Return of The King, and lost to Return. :)

2020-09-06 00:53:23 +0000 UTCSaving Private Ryan, just for the opening scene of landing on Omaha Beach. I remember vets saying things like the only thing unrealistic was that you couldn't smell it.

2020-09-05 22:17:47 +0000 UTCGladiator is my favorite film of. all. time.

2020-09-05 19:21:15 +0000 UTCIt's not that hard to do; I've never seen most of the movies on the above list. It's all a matter of literally not choosing to sit down and watch them.
Troy B.
2020-09-05 19:19:39 +0000 UTCGladiator is, I think, the closest to a "fun" watchalong/react. I think I would have a hard time watching you watch Saving Private Ryan.

2020-09-05 19:13:45 +0000 UTCTo be honest, all of these are excellent choices.

2020-09-05 19:02:57 +0000 UTCI would also recommend seeing "Hulk" (2003) by Ang Lee before seeing "Incredible". The Ang Lee Hulk was the aborted first attempt at an MCU and "Incredible" picks up where "Hulk" ends! The two films were made so near in time to each other that the MCU Hulk film barely covers the origin which is what the non-canon film is about. The film has problems but also tremendous merit and utilizes a comic-book-panel visual style. Ang Lee is a major talent and his filmography is extraordinarily diverse with films like Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, wuxia like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, historical dramas like Ride with the Devil, romantic dramas like Brokeback Mountain and action films like Gemini Man. The cast includes Eric Bana, Jennifer Connelly, Sam Elliot, Josh Lucas and Nick Nolte. It is non-canon but connected enough that some MCU fans like myself include it in the chronology.

2020-09-05 17:17:54 +0000 UTCAbsolutely BRAVEHEART! The most bone-crunching and pulse-quickening depiction of medieval warfare since Eisenstein's "Alexander Nevsky" in 1938. The depiction of the famous 13th-century ice lake battle between the Russians and the Teutonic Knights still holds up and was the gold standard until Mel Gibson came along. Now, every medieval battle is compared to Braveheart. The only time it has been trumped, in my opinion, was by Miguel Sapochnik in Game of Thrones Season 6's "The Battle of the Bastards"! Before cluttering your mind with battles filmed after 1995, see Braveheart for a frame of reference.
Alex Vazquez
2020-09-05 16:59:25 +0000 UTCWait... Your problem with Braveheart is that it's bad history, but you like Gladiator?
Allan Rumberger
2020-09-05 16:31:19 +0000 UTCNatalie, I'm really curious to you hear your story on how you've never seen so many huge films. Just to busy with life? Didn't like these types of films? I picked GLADIATOR, again b/c I think your reactions will be priceless. All of these films are must-watches though.
Jimmy Crackcorn
2020-09-05 13:41:11 +0000 UTCSaving Private Ryan is very realistic and one of my favorite movies. Gladiator extended edition would be my second choice, good movie. I don't like Braveheart, very unrealistic. Been altered from the original story, A kilt that is instantly recognizable, immediately identifiable, and more than likely entirely historically inaccuracies is pretty much in double figures.
Travis
2020-09-05 13:22:25 +0000 UTCThose are some heady and sad movies Natalie. I guess after Fifth Element you in the mood to just bawl your eyes out lol.

2020-09-05 12:06:28 +0000 UTCI Like Braveheart Very Much. Saving Private Ryan is very good film. But even so I recommend Must watch is Gladiator. When I watch LOTR I always go back and watch gladiator its just so incredibly strong movie. I'll even continue patreon only for this

2020-09-05 10:19:44 +0000 UTCSaving Private Ryan is by far the best written, directed, and acted movie on this list imo.

2020-09-05 08:43:08 +0000 UTCJust watch all of them. Seriously, I couldn't pick a favorite. They are all top tier action movies with real heart to them.
Nick Parker
2020-09-05 05:24:08 +0000 UTCWell, this list brings out my problems when it comes to suspending my disbelief, an important thing to do when movie watching. When an actor’s real life overshadows their character’s lives, I have trouble separating the two. Russel Crowe seems to be a tool in real life, we know what the deal is with Mel Gibson, and for all intents and purposes Tom Cruise is a cult leader. Tom Hanks is the only one that hasn’t weaponized his fame at all or left a huge negative mark on anyone’s lives. All four of these are worth watching, but I have to go with Private Ryan. I wish I could be less biased by things like this, and acknowledging that I do this is a step in the right direction, but there you go anyway.

2020-09-05 02:36:37 +0000 UTCGladiator's a great pick, but if you want a nerd/guy movie that you might identify with from the 2000s, Natalie, try Spider-man 2 (dir. Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire) many (including me) consider it one of the best superhero movies. Run it by your friend
CyrusB
2020-09-05 02:25:02 +0000 UTCSorry to be way in the minority, but these are three of the most overrated, undeserving movies ever made. And the Last Samurai.

2020-09-05 01:38:33 +0000 UTCEh, Tom Cruise is an acquired taste. I think she'd enjoy Braveheart more.

2020-09-05 01:33:09 +0000 UTCYou can’t go wrong with any of these but Saving Private Ryan is a masterpiece of cinema.

2020-09-05 01:15:12 +0000 UTCI struggled between braveheart and the last samurai but braveheart has to be your first. It’s brutal but brilliant and you will sob.

2020-09-05 01:14:26 +0000 UTCThis is an amazing list, I will be happy with any of these but I hope Gladiator wins.
Drew
2020-09-05 01:14:15 +0000 UTCI’m prejudiced, but Braveheart is in my personal top ten. Lord of the Rings style combat in an approximation of historical events. Ignore the Battle of Stirling Bridge has no bridge in it, for example, and you’ll do fine. And I repeat - I love the movie, just a FEW criticisms.
Matthew Periolat
2020-09-05 01:10:50 +0000 UTCI'll watch reactions to any of the above, but Braveheart would be my top choice. Also, whatever wins, keep in mind that they're all historical fiction, even when they feature real historical figures.
