2020-09-18 05:44:09 +0000 UTCYa need to tell us what episode you are watching. My DVD set has The Train Job as Episode 2... This is not The Train Job.

2020-09-18 05:37:55 +0000 UTCIt was all over the place, also a couple of the best episodes didn't air at all.

2020-09-17 04:15:38 +0000 UTCSo glad you are enjoying the show. Absolutely one of my favorites. And it's a good thing you are watching them in order. That first pilot didn't air until after the show was ending. Think a couple more were out of order.

2020-09-17 04:08:58 +0000 UTCYeah, this was the "second pilot." Because FOX executives are morons. It's still a good episode though.

2020-09-17 00:23:07 +0000 UTCAlright, Nat. By the series end, we want to see you singing along with the Firefly theme. ;)

2020-09-16 23:37:44 +0000 UTCRiver recognized the class of ship because she's brilliant. You'll learn more as the season progresses. Companions are well respected in society. Inara would have been more respected in that town than either Simon or Shepard Book simply because of her place in society. The scene with them returning the meds to the Sheriff was great. So much more was said with just the expressions than the dialog.

2020-09-16 12:57:58 +0000 UTCIf you watch the series on Blu-ray or DVD you won't have to be subjected to those gorram narration/recaps that play before the episodes.

2020-09-16 08:37:16 +0000 UTCI'm so glad you are quickly getting into the series and the characters. Now I know for sure you're in for a great time.

2020-09-16 06:31:18 +0000 UTCI was hoping you'd upload the second episode today and you totally came through. Thanks for another great video Natalie, looking forward to enjoying the rest of the series with you.

2020-09-16 04:57:52 +0000 UTCIm pretty sure when the series first aired this was episode one as Fox thought it had more action than Serenity pts 1+2.

2020-09-16 04:30:41 +0000 UTCThanks Michael, I'm sure your lukewarm original response to this being aired as the first episode was shared by a lot of other people at the time, and as I suggested above went a long way towards signing the show's death warrant before it even had a chance to find its footing. It isn't as if this is even a "bad" episode. As Natalie points out this is a fun caper. However, as a way to introduce the characters and setting for the very first time to a brand new audience? Well... do I really need to say more? Thank you again for providing a first-hand example of my original points, Michael, and I'm glad you eventually came around, fellow Browncoat!

2020-09-16 03:50:05 +0000 UTCIronically, I tuned into the first half of this episode when it first aired, went "Meh," and didn't see the rest of the series until after the movie came out when I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about! ...And then I watched the movie first because I didn't know any better!

2020-09-16 03:42:13 +0000 UTCSo tough not to binge multiple episodes in a row, but it's been a while since I've seen these, and would rather wait for the reaction :P

2020-09-16 03:36:02 +0000 UTCI think the comments above touched on pretty much everything I had in mind to say so I’ll just say awesome video and I’ll look forward to the next one.

2020-09-16 03:28:02 +0000 UTCDid you get the "Two by two, hands of blue" reference at the end Natalie!? The two Government guys, wearing blue gloves!!

2020-09-16 03:19:28 +0000 UTCThe exchanges between Mal and Book are a joy to watch.

2020-09-16 03:19:14 +0000 UTCThe Alliance soldiers on the train were wearing left over Starship Troopers armor from the movie, they also used them on a season of Power Rangers back in the early 00's. Also Unification day is coming up pretty soon, Sept 20th.

2020-09-16 03:16:38 +0000 UTCAwesome reaction as always. Glad you're enjoying the show. I see Peter already explained the awful narration and crazy out-of-order airing. Can't wait for the next one.

2020-09-16 03:13:06 +0000 UTCAwesome Natalie, and so glad you are enjoying the show. Here's a bit of totally non-spoilery historical context you might be interested in. THIS was the "pilot" that the showrunners Fox decided to air first - they didn't like the planned pilot ("Serenity", that you have already reacted to) because they felt it was "too slow" and "lacked excitement" (or so they claimed), So Joss Whedon and his team rewrote this over a weekend to include a lot more exposition than they intended so it could be accepted by Fox as a new pilot episode instead. That is why, in case you were wondering, a lot of the plotlines and characters that were introduced organically in the far superior (to me and the majority of the show's fans, anyway) "Serenity" pilot have little explanatory bits forced into dialogue in this, the show's first aired episode. Unforgivable and destructive behaviour on the part of Fox that played a HUGE part (again, in my opinion) in getting the show cancelled in its first season. Lots of other reasons as well (scheduling being a big one) but I won't labour those here.

2020-09-16 02:27:43 +0000 UTCLooking forward to it, as always. Glad you're enjoying the show. Hope you're staying safe with the wildfires happening in California; we're still trying the same up here in Oregon. Your videos are helping keep a smile on my face. Take care. Cheers, Nat.
