FIRST TIME WATCHING: Firefly Ep. 3
Added 2020-09-23 16:40:26 +0000 UTCHey guys!
Here is my reaction to Episode 3 of FIREFLY! Unfortunately, it's not a first time reaction. I explain this in the intro of my video, but I messed up the audio big time while recording this and Iron Man 2...🤦♀️
I'm SO SORRY for this mistake...I truly am the worst when it comes to technology and September has not been a favorable month for me in the tech aspect of my life haha. Fingers crossed this NEVER happens again! 🤞
As always, please let me know your thoughts in the comment section below and until the next one, ✨stay golden! ✨

2021-05-10 21:08:19 +0000 UTCAlthough they would have loved to have had more viewers, Fox mostly cancelled it due to the cost of production. They had a full size ship interior built on one of the sound stages and it couldn't be broken down. Most sets are built in pieces and are able to be broken down when not in use. I worked on the lot at that time and was always puzzled why our sound stages sat empty most of the time. At one point I spoke with a Facilities VP and asked why it was and she said that it was because the Fox lot property was very valuable and that meant that they had to charge a very high rent for its use. Even Fox productions wouldn't shoot in our facilities, let alone outside productions. So with all the effects and shooting on the lot and attention to detail and quality, the budget skyrocketed. /n /n I did see Mel, Wash and Zoe at the commissary a few times, in costume. The show hadn't aired yet so I didn't realize the gravity of the situation. Turns out that the Fox Studio Lot isn't like the Jerry Lewis' 'The Page Boy' movie. That was one of the most "Hollywood" thing that happened to me at Fox, except for the time David Ducuvney hit me in my golf cart with his golf cart.

2020-09-26 06:58:46 +0000 UTCAhh sorry for doing that! And yes, thank you for the reminder! I did already record Iron Man 2 (and it's being posted soon) But I will try to be better about this in the future for sure!

2020-09-26 00:21:21 +0000 UTCI want to echo Dad_Plays_. I havent seen the series in at least 15 years and specifically joined to re-watch it with your reactions. Assume the audience hasn't seen it, please. Keep up the entertaining reactions =)

2020-09-25 12:41:33 +0000 UTCHey! So I love watching your videos. I really enjoy your reactions and hearing your perspective. I just want to say (partly because you are probably going to do iron man 2 again and partly in case anything like this happens in the further) I’m someone who is a big Joss Whedon fan and have seen this series before, however it has been more than 7 or 8 years and I don’t remember almost anything about the finer details of these episodes. So maybe not Telegraph every single little twist and turn with comments like “oh, I remember this,” or “oh this freaked me out,” ya know. I have a pretty solid memory of Iron Man 2 but I’m sure there are some out there who don’t or maybe even some who haven’t seen it at all but want to watch it along with your video. Again, I’m not hating on your video. I absolutely;y love them and wouldn’t be here paying to watch them if I didn’t, lol. I just thought this is something I would want to hear from a person watching my videos, so I thought I should tell you.

2020-09-25 04:30:55 +0000 UTCI can't believe I went through the series and Serenity in 4 days. Also, looking on IMDB which shows the episodes original release, it is no wonder it didn't get enough viewers and was cancelled. Took forever for them to get around to showing all the episodes and they were REALLY out of order. Made no sense back then. In the order they are in on Hulu, the Bluray set, etc it works like one much better story with a nice ending in Serenity.

2020-09-24 17:36:02 +0000 UTCNatalie-- There's no need to apologize. Some people would have just reshot, and who would have known, but you are sweet and honest to let us know, and that's why I'm more than happy to remain your patron.

2020-09-24 04:47:46 +0000 UTCTo answer your question. The two main groups that left "earth that was" were the super powers China and America. The alliance is something of a Chimerica super power. If you had the Vudu streaming version of Firefly you would get a snippet at the beginning of each episode that gives some minor background. Anyhow because the two main factions were China and America (U.S.) you get folk speaking a sort of Chinglish. Although Russian is sprinkled in a few episodes. All the Chinese I know is from Firefly and the movie Serenity.

2020-09-24 03:56:48 +0000 UTC“May have been on the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong side.” Boy, has that line gained mileage for me in recent years. I’m disappointed about the sound issues, but it’s cool. Mistakes happen and we learn from them. I’m just glad we got this and Iron Man 2 to come. And actually, I don’t recall how many episodes I’ve seen past this point. Shindig I have a vague memory of and of course, Our Miss Reynolds, which I cannot wait for! See you next time!

2020-09-24 01:56:17 +0000 UTCI'm watching them on Prime and they have the intro-blurbs.

2020-09-24 01:49:46 +0000 UTCI remember hearing that Alan Tudyk ad-libbed the interrogation scene and they just let the cameras roll to see where he would take it.

2020-09-24 01:48:19 +0000 UTCI have one of those T-shirts. Think Geek used to sell a few different Firefly shirts. I like wearing it and blue latex gloves to see if anyone notices - but during COVID the effect is lost.
John
2020-09-24 01:45:48 +0000 UTCWhen the camera moves in a stable way (in or out), it's a dolly shot - the dolly is the wheeled carriage they place the camera on. Sometimes they're mounted on tracks for really crazy complex moves. One of the better episodes to have a technical blurp on, it's good, but not one of my favourites - though I'm also a big fan of the interrogation sequence :)

2020-09-24 01:39:06 +0000 UTCOh, and did you see the Blue Sun emblem on Jayne's shirt? Those pop up every now and then, Joss Whedon was going to have that become important later in the series (which unfortunately never came to fruition) . Keep an eye out for them.

2020-09-24 01:10:09 +0000 UTCHave you re-recorded Iron Man 2 yet? Maybe this time you could watch it with with SHIELD archive feature enabled. Let us know if you do, however, some of them actually alter the run-time of the movie. But they're a fun feature. What version are you watching? I have Blu-rays and they don't have the intro-blurbs

2020-09-24 00:51:42 +0000 UTCShe mentioned during one of the twitch streams that she's trying to avoid the channel being too focused on Star Wars, since she just finished watching The Mandalorian. I'm sure she'll get to it eventually.

2020-09-23 22:24:41 +0000 UTCEasy for me to skip Iron Man 2. It's one of my least favorite of the MCU movies. That and Iron Man 3 are probably at the bottom for me. :) I probably would have watched anyway, but if it's a video of someone watching something they've already seen, that's easy to skip. A shame, but alas. Accidents happen.

2020-09-23 20:58:57 +0000 UTCThe movie (Buffy) was Joss' idea, but it wasn't done according to his wishes. It's much too campy. It's not un-fun, but to truly appreciate what he had in mind, you'd have to go Buffy – the TV series. It's so, so, so much better. If 7 seasons of Buffy are too much, he also did "Dollhouse", which can be hard to get into, but it's very interesting stuff, really. 2 seasons of 13 episodes each. (Like Firefly, it's important to get the watch-order right, btw.)

2020-09-23 20:18:32 +0000 UTCAppreciate your transparency with us regarding the recording snafu. No worries. It happens to the best of us. This episode reminds me of one of my favorite horror movies: EVENT HORIZON starring Laurence Fishburne & Sam Neill. It would make for a great addition for you to watch this October. If you like Alan Tudyk, I also recommend the horror movie satire TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL.

2020-09-23 18:43:07 +0000 UTCThe guy who created and wrote Firefly, Joss Whedon, also did Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There was a movie before there was a show, starring Kristy Swanson and Donald Sutherland. Maybe an October option? Joss Whedon also wrote a musical about a wannabe mad scientist called Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog.

2020-09-23 18:37:50 +0000 UTCIt was really fun watching you freak out knowing what was coming as well as things toy forgot/didn't notice from the first time. and the interrogation scene is one of my favorite scenes from anything. It really does a good job of showcasing the different characters.

2020-09-23 17:52:08 +0000 UTCI use OBS all the time and what I do is before recording anything, I do a quick recording to test sound levels from all sources. It takes a few min but it is so beneficial. Made the same mistake you did on a live broadcast on FB which is now why I test and why you will going forward. The best teacher is learning from a mistake. Don't sweat it girl.

2020-09-23 17:09:42 +0000 UTCI don’t think you should watch anything out of a feeling of obligation to us. Not saying you’re doing that, but just thought it’s important that it’s been said. In my opinion, you don’t owe us anything. We are just blessed to be along for those moments that does get captured on film and you choose to share. It’s been a joy so far!
