DOUBLE FEATURE!! WATCHING THOR & V FOR VENDETTA!!

Hey guys!

I didn't realize that the decision between Thor and V for Vendetta would be such a tough one...but y'all couldn't decide! So, in honor of the longstanding tie on the last poll, I present to you:

 🎉🎉A DOUBLE FEATURE!!! 🎉🎉

I must say, it was fun to watch both of these films on the same day. Even if the only thing they have in common is Natalie Portman. I truly hope you enjoy these videos! In the essence of time, I neglected editing an intro/outro for either one. I figured it was more important to post this on November 5th!

As always, please let me know your thoughts in the comments below and until next time, ✨stay golden!✨

Yeah, I saw a lot of similar names for things while driving throughout Iceland and figured it was no coincidence.

Chet Brusk

Just so you know, V for vendetta doesn't work anymore. Weirdly, thor still works. im not sure whats up with that

Scott Faye

These two movies have more in common then just Natalie Portman. There are both based on comic books. To be fair V was more of a graphic novel. It was one of the first comics targeting adult audiences with mature content.

MrTiddyo

A lot of men dont like their flaws being accented. the biggest strength and the biggest Burdon us men have is ego. But we love a redemption story tho. I think its because we are all volatile shits essentially so if we see redemption then it gives us hope.

Cripkie

I see, Natalie, that you are unfamiliar with Norse mythology, on which the Marvel Thor and the Asgardians, etc. are based. Loki is my favorite MCU character If you get an inclination, go ahead and look up some of the Norse myths. You can Google search Norse Myths, or even Thor and Loki and come up with such a lot of historical mythological information before the Marvel company took on the legends and changed them.

Oouga

I really enjoyed watching Thor again with you. Unpopular opinion it seems with some but I really like the Thor movies. Tom does an absolutely amazing job bringing Loki to life! I just really like Loki so it was really cool hearing your thoughts on his character and Tom’s performance as him.

Luis R.

It was released March 9th 2006. It's not the same. But better than a whole year

Aaron Taft

September 10th was the Battle of Thermopylae, do we have to wait a whole year before we see 300?

Aaron Taft

Watching Natalie Gold react to Natalie Portman reacting to Thor's transformation.

Niklas

good man.

Cripkie

Just read the entire post, disregard my comment. Totally appreciate you getting V out on the 5th!

mrhalfbit

I really wish we still got the intro sequences and the thoughts about the movie afterwards here on Patreon. I very much enjoy watching the entire films but I feel like the whole experience is cut off. Thank you as always.

mrhalfbit

Something I just noticed, or remembered something I forgot. If you check out the reaction on YouTube, go to timestamp 15:07 where Evey sees the guard up close. The door behind her is marked "E 1". If you count the doors down the hall and presume E2, E3... E5 is open, which is the door she was being held. https://youtu.be/hR2EI7qdGO0?t=907 E5... EV (Roman numeral) Evey There are no coincidences.

Luis Torrefranca

What's somewhat ironic is the John Hurt, who plays the High Chancellor, also played Winston Smith in 1984.

Outlaw Wales

It amazes me what a difference it makes rewatching these with your commentary! I actually enjoyed Thor this time.

Troy B.

Man watching V for Vendetta now really hits different. What a fantastic movie.

Bartman

Just finished watching both after two nights of politics and a night of celebration. Thor first. As I have stated before, this is the movie that sold me in the MCU as a concept. That stuff other than the successful Iron Man and the established Hulk could work. I’d also argue this is one of the best scores of any MCU movie. Thor’s comeback is also so awesome and Portman’s “It’s a good look.” is a favorite of mine. You already know about the end tag so hold my tongue, but starting with this movie, the tag “... will return.” will begin to show up. Just FYI. And my advice? Sit through the end credits for all Marvel’s going forward and edit accordingly. Trust me. Now to V. First time watch and yeah, such an interesting movie for our times. The idea, the spirit, goes beyond a single individual and it can be the agent of change. When the world is ready for it. For the truth in all it’s gore and glory. Oh, I’m not an anarchist, I’m a student of history and I believe the world, when given the choice, will always go with moving forward and choose the better angels. I’ll always take that bet. The poem you were thinking of, by the way: First they came for the Communists And I did not speak out because I was not a Communist Then they came for the Socialists And I did not speak out because I was not a Socialist Then they came for the trade unionists And I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist Then they came for the Jews And I did not speak out because I was not a Jew Then they came for me And there was no one left to speak for me. It has been engraved on my brain since I studied the Holocaust back in high school and it has since been engraved on the walls of the National Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. Not just for a time, for all time, the most valuable lesson for humanity - we are all connected. If one is silent against a crime against one, eventually, one by one... Well, let us not end on that morose note. Let us say... an interesting coincidence you should watch these two together, not just for the 5th of November, but for the next MCU movie. You’ll see. Stay golden! Cannot wait for what is to come.

Matthew Periolat

Also, if you find the deleted scenes, Frigga has considerably more screen time.

Texas Anla'Shok

He even based many of the names for locations on towns and cities in Scandinavia. He had a huge obsession with all things Nordic

Danishprince

Ya know, I don't know whether I'm thankful for this or not. I was happy enough watching the other MCU videos you've done on Youtube and enjoyed them while just remembering the rest of the film. This time around, I decided to do the watch along thing and I've got to say, you've started an itch. I *really* want to go and binge watch the entire lot again but I'm not sure I would want to sit through the same films again with the watch along as and when they come out so soon after binging them. (I did decide to watch Spider-Man Homecoming though, seeing as it is a fair way along with movie list so you'll likely not get to it for a few months or more (9 films between Thor and it, if they're being watched chronologically) :D )

Graham Clifton

If it sounds like LoTR, that's because Tolkien drew heavily on Norse mythology for it.

Texas Anla'Shok

Nat has mentioned further up in the comments that she will watch them at the beginning of the Captain America reaction video

Darryl Low

Hey Nattie... you forgot there's an extra bit or two shown during the credits. ;)

Richard Ryan

Just finished my first time watching V for Vendetta. WOW! How have I not seen that before? Especially since I remember Comic Con before its release when all the masks that were given out. Hugo Weaving, John Hurt, and Natalie Portman bringing it, like they always do. Guess I'll have to start watching it every November 5th.

Robert Avila

Regarding the SHIELD bit, while I knew who Coulson was, and I understood the story line, I didn't consider it to be an example of them being, "the good guys" - not even sure if it was legitimate ... though I suppose if their concern is that she will figure out how to create wormholes ....

eric clark

Watched Thor tonight. Funny how nobody has a problem with authoritarian jack booted thugs from the government doing whatever they want - so long as they're "our" people. If we didn't know who Caulson and SHIELD were in advance, you'd swear they were the bad guys. I guess the ends justifies the means afterall.

John

I had no idea what to expect from V for Vendetta, other than I had seen the mask. There were the characters, the intrigue, the excitement and visual style - all what you would expect from the Matrix team, but I didn't expect it to be so moving too. That definitely took me by surprise. Thanks for another amazing video Nat.

Darryl Low

She simply forgot about the end-credit scene but will included the one from Thor with the next MCU react :)

Danishprince

Calling Coulson "Agent Carter". Don't worry about that, you'll meet the actual Agent Carter soon enough. ;)

Niklas

I forgot how good V for Vendetta was. I haven't seen it in years but it was a great watch. Also Natalie if you see this, Edmond Dantes is the main character in the Count of Monte Cristo

Kevin Morris

Natalie, Thank you!

Ron

Nat, I had a lot of fun on our movie night, but you've got to sit through to the end-credits scene! As Loki said, "I guess that's worth a look."

Alan Kobb

What? No Post-credit scene this time? Disappointed. You still get mad cool points for both watch-alongs though. Love your work.

khaliqtessi

Nice!

Garren Haskell

Just finished watching the "Thor" video. I didn't want to wait for the YouTube video on that one. Even though I'll re-watch then. Super excited for when you get to "Captain America: The First Avenger" which is next one. And once you get to "The Avengers" there will be both a mid and post-credit scenes. I'm planning on watching the "V for Vendetta" reaction videos tonight. 😊

Randee Carreno

Oh i have and I do haha. It’s one of Tyler’s favorites

Natalie Gold

Name of the actor, I think. No? No. You're correct.

Patrick Armbruster

Thank you😃 !

Calo Grsf

Great reaction to both movies Nat! - I knew V would be hard for you to watch but I'm glad you got through it :) - Btw in case you're interested in knowing why they were called Fingermen: https://www.litcharts.com/lit/v-for-vendetta/symbols/the-head-the-eye-the-finger-the-nose-the-ear

Danishprince

Thank you Nat.

Darryl Low

No problem, we know you are busy, and things happen. I am just happy you seemed to really like V for Vendetta. It is very apropos for right now!

Emptysea93

happy birthday!!

Natalie Gold

Hey y'all! I'm SO SORRY about the tech issues with V for Vendetta. Hoping to get this fixed and up for you in one convenient video by later today. Also I CANNOT BELIEVE I forgot to watch the Thor end credit scene....after taking a break for NATMARES I completely forgot that there are end credit scenes for MCU films. Will make sure to include this reaction in the next video for you!

Natalie Gold

Love your reacts...cant wit for more MCU movies; and X-men hopefully?

Jayson Phillips

Wow you had me bawling my eyes out during the prison letter scene. Really amazing to experience these films from my childhood with someone who reacts so genuinely. .

Thomas Malley

You have to watch your own copy along with her for the full unedited reactions. She can’t post the audio for the whole movie online because copyright.

JSharp

Wow Nattie G. They always say that the best surprises are the ones you least expect. To switch on this morning and see not one but two movie reactions is beyond generous. We all really appreciate you giving up part of your day to watch and upload these. Loved your Thor reaction. Looks like you really enjoyed the movie and yes, the film scores to the MCU movies definitely get the emotions going. The music score to the next Thor film is probably my favourite. I will watch V for Vendetta this evening. A film I haven't seen, so will enjoy watching it along with you. Thank you for an awesome surprise and have a chillaxing weekend Nat.

Darryl Low

Thor ended very abruptly, and you missed out on the post credits scene.. Great watch though.. Now we wait for the one piece V for Vendetta upload.. much love!

Gunnar Rea

It’s not actually. There is an actual post credit scene and then what’s called a teaser trailer with zero plot spoilers. Do what you think is best (lord knows it’s not my or anyone else’s place to say “DO this” or “do NOT” do that. But there is also a clear moment when the post credit scene ends and the “trailer” begins.

Brandon Scott

I LOVE IT! Instead of one or the other, do both. Just finished watching Thor, which is I consider one of the most underrated Marvel movies. So much I love about this one and the next two. I've actually never seen V for vendetta but will watch it tomorrow. And YES, you didn't include the end credit scene. A great lead up to the Avengers.

Robert Avila

Watching V again made me think that Natalie would probably like Fight Club. I don't know why I connected the two. If you've never seen Fight Club, Nat, I think it would be an awesome one for a watchalong!

Garren Haskell

SECRET ENDING! SECRET ENDING!

Spooky Dooky

See the Thor post-credit scene before Cap, but do NOT watch the Captain America post credit scene. I'll mention this again when you post that you'll be doing Captain America :) *edit: The reason why you don't want to, is that the Captain America "post credit scene" is just a full trailer for The Avengers. And you are delivering much better reactions going into these movies blind, with no trailers (something that becomes VERY important later in the MCU)

Holly R

Best surprise ever! Thank you!!

mranderson

Hey Natalie, just finished Thor, good reaction. I wanted to remind you to watch the end credits scene before moving onto the next movie though. On to V for Vendetta!

JediLounger

Lmao, it’s cool. But it is a clip you’ll probably want to see before you watch the avengers. Had a lot of fun watching this with you regardless.

Brandon Scott

A perfect gift for my birthday😄 ! Haha, thank you Nat, and stay golden!

Calo Grsf

ahhhhh I forgot again....that is such a hard thing for me to remember 🤦🏻‍♀️ I will include it for the next MCU reaction! So sorry!

Natalie Gold

Thank you for getting these out. I only had time for V. your reaction to the reveal of the prison was cool. I do suggest reading the graphic novel of V. it is concededly more dense so you may skip long sections but the ending is worth reading. Please stay healthy.

Garrick Smalley

Thanks for the awesome share just finished the second part of your V video after taking a break and watching Thor in the middle. Also cool shirt, is that Venus, with a pentagram, I recall learning a little bit about this in the Dan Brown book, is that like respect the sacred feminine? Any way thank you for the awesome share today, your getting really great at asking or saying just the right thing at the right moment, also no spoilers but never be afraid to be wrong, your Thor stuff is great because, I kept correcting you every time you said Carter, who is Peggy Carter so your really close... really great stuff, thanks again.

Baron

are you trying to figure out how to make a four way tie now?

Baron

amazing reaction to both, v for vendetta is one of my favorite movies of all time, I'm really glad you enjoyed it and caught so many details for a first watch!! To answer one question at the end Edmond Dantes is a character from his favorite movie, The Count of Monte Cristo. Can't wait for more, thanks for all the hard work!!!

Chon

was gonna say the same thing it lost about 5 seconds or so of sync but that was impressive getting part two up so fast either way.

Chon

The people who were killed that appeared in the crowd at the end of the movie: "According to the film's co-creator and illustrator David Lloyd, the ending sequence was intended to show that the 'public' (res publica) are of one mind and body, rather than disconnected individuals. By having the people who chose to defy the State (and were killed by the State) shown at the end, the implication is that it's possible for the state to kill a person, but that they can't kill the idea of freedom that those people were willing to die for:"

John

She didn't learn his name. Edmond Dantès is the name of the character in The Count of Monte Cristo, the movie they watched. Finch: Who was he (V)? Evey: He was Edmond Dantés... and he was my father. And my mother... my brother... my friend. He was you... and me. He was all of us. https://www.quora.com/Who-is-Edmond-Dantes-and-why-does-Evey-say-that-V-is-Dantes-What-is-the-background-story-of-this-guy

John

1. Thank you so much for double upload!!! 2. This makes me realize that I have so many Natilie Portman movies on Bluray, I was looking through them and I have these two, The next Thor, The Professional, Black Swan, The Star wars Prequels, No Strings attached, The other Bolin girl, Zoolander...probably more. I guess I'm a fan, and I didn't realize it.

Joel S

You wish people would be more specifc about the media they listen to? Do you honestly think there's ANY reliable and truthful media anymore? Your part 2 reaction is out of sync. You're commenting about scenes before they appear in your video inset.

John

thanks for the part 2 for V for Vendetta, but it's a tad off.. I'm synced up with your copy, but you're reacting a few seconds a head of time.

Mister Lou

Hate to seem like I'm complaining given that you did so much work to put out two movie reactions in one day, and then provided the part 2 of V so quickly when discovering that it was cut off. But the picture and audio of part two are super out of sync. Not sure if you can fix that, but if you can you may want to. Again, not complaining, but just wanted to let you know.

darby72

That wasn't his name that was the name of the character from Count of Monte Cristo. (which has a pretty good reboot id recccomend)

Vincent Valentin

Thank you for the commitment to the poll Nat! It was split very much evenly till the end. And thank you for the diligence of releasing the 2nd part of the V for Vendetta reaction due to the Vimeo upload problem. Happy 5th of November!

Aaron

Is there no audio from the movies in these reactions?

Anthony P

V for Vendetta? awesome! Hope you get a chance to also do Cloud Atlas!

Mister Lou

Yeah, watched Thor ! Glad you liked it ! Don't hesitate to stay for the post credit scenes for the MCU movies, specially the first ones :)

Feed Gods

I get that you were trying to cut down on editing and all that, but did you seriously not record your reaction to the post credit scene???? 🥺🥺🥺🥺

Brandon Scott

You're too good to us Nat, take the weekend off.

The Hedge Knight

No bias nor even commentary here. just an observation.

The Golgothan

so bias.... the nerve! :p

Chon

Interesting that in your first double feature both films star Natalie Portman, a woman that shares your first name

The Golgothan

Hey, Nat...re: Thor. . . during the scene where the guy in the red pickup finds Thor's hammer in the middle of the desert. The guy driving the truck (the one who first tries to pick up the hammer) is J. Michael Straczynski (creator of Babylon 5, one of the writers of Thor and the guy who mentioned on Twitter that he enjoyed your videos).

Sam Kimpton

Check you don’t have two pairs of Bluetooth headsets connected to your computer with one maybe playing music. That will cause any playback to pause randomly.

Thomas Malley

Oh boy oh boy oh boy! What a treat!!! Two reactions on the same day. That will certainly be a fifth of November to remember.

Thomas Malley

Love that you caved to both! That real fan service there lol

NobleSon32

A double? whaaaaaat

Kelvin

You're too good to us! Always working hard! Much love!

Ryan Nielson

Does anyone else have the same problem I am having of these reactions on Vimeo constantly freezing and pausing? It never happens on any of the other platforms I watch reactions on, only Vimeo. It makes it super hard to watch as it is really difficult to get the video back in sync with the original footage.

darby72

ugh god, thank you for letting me know. fixing this asap

Natalie Gold

gonna fix this now

Natalie Gold

I agree Nat is really awesome, also welcome to the Patreon family! 🙂

Skaar the Dustless Wolf.

The reaction for V for Vendetta seems to end right before the climax. Great reaction as always, just a bit of a bummer didn't get to see to the end.

Ryan Nielson

I can confirm that she is going in theatrical release

Skaar the Dustless Wolf.

I just joined your Patreon on Tuesday and you’ve already given me a Firefly ep, Thor and V for Vendetta. Natalie, you rock!

Derek Schmit

So far it seems like she’s going in order of theatrical release.

Brandon Scott

Haven’t watched yet, but just wanted to say how much I appreciate you taking the time and putting in the extra effort to simply give us needy patrons what we wanted, lol. You’re pretty awesome, Nat.

Brandon Scott

😮😮😮

Anakin Starkiller

omg yes. happy fifth everyone xD

Chon

V is not complete or am I supposed to do something to get the rest of the reaction?

Elisa H.

Wooo; this is so Freaking cool, Imma have to make food for this one, lol

Diiirk706

I just realized this could be a good opportunity for me to watch the Marvel Cinematic Universe properly (i.e. not skipping movies, watching out of order, etc.). Are the reactions in theatrical release order?

Andrew T

So excited that you decided to watch both!! - A bit sad I didn't know this was coming as it is now 2am on the 6th for me so I watched V yesterday already :D Time to watch it again when I wake up I guess!

Danishprince

*excited flailing*

It Hurt A Lot

More ties please

Rob Farley

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one

Fraser

I’m so excited to watch!!!

Stephen Marsh

Nice!

Cliff Boyce

We should tie more often
