When Mal said that bit about "distress... in someone's pants..." You gave this look... It was your 'Jayne did it again' look lol. Priceless!!

Sad that serenity/firefly is over, I had the idea you could watch the serenity and firefly bloopers, they're always fun.

jamesthevampyr

In the movie, Inara's face change in one scene is also some of the best acting I've ever seen.

Shawnda Behrns

Hi Natalie I finally subscribed after watching your reaction to this on YouTube and I just watched the whole thing again here. Can't wait for your reaction to Objects in Space - its the number 2 favourite for a lot of people after Out Of Gas and of course the movie.

Mark Briody

It was never fully developed in the show, or later the movie, but there's a reason Inara is so strongly against letting her guard down with anybody (especially Mal). They had very subtly eluded to it in this episode, and a couple previously had much more overt lines. But without giving anything up on it, there was a story plot that was going to be brought in later that Morena did confirm that really nails down the why of her actions and reactions.

Doug Willour

Briliant reaction - Your shock when Inara announced she's leaving really got to me..

Danishprince

Yep, this is actually my favorite episode of the show. Been waiting for you to see it since you started rooting for Mal and Inara as a couple. It's a real punch to the gut, but you have to admire that so few other shows can do it as well. I really appreciated that Nandi was a legitimately good person, and not some cheap writer's homewrecker. She's a trained companion who's seen plenty of men lose their minds for a professional who can't return the man's affection, because the companion merely sold a fantasy the man paid for. Mandi quickly picked up on Mal liking Inara, and she figured she'd do him a kindness by taking his mind off her (admittedly for her own benefit as well, since good men are hard to come by in her area). When she realizes Inara has feelings for Mal, she fairly assumes Mal was the one to hold out on the truth, rather than her friend, whom she trusted. So you really end up with a crappy situation where everyone plays a role, but blame on any individual is plainly unfair. And (unlike a lot of shows) you want everyone to win, even though you know that's not possible. Like a good drama, it's just life, man. Sucks, but it does it so good. So to speak.

Dan

Good stuff Nat

David Miles

You really should watch the deleted scenes of the movie Serenity afterwards because a lot of the Mal/Inara scenes got cut

Catherine Ledoux

Ya know Nat I watched the FireFly episodes as they aired, and I finished them. Watched them again when the DVD was released, and I finished them. And every good friend that entered my life and stood by me in companionship; I watched Firefly again, and I finished them. And now we all are watching them with you, and we are going to finish them. But FireFly is never over.... December 2020.... still flying.

Aaron Taft

It's impossible for me to skip that one. Wholeheartedly agreed, that episode is the very best.

Scott Greene

Dammit, you two, open up already!!! Yeah, so with Nat on that one. But you know even if Firefly had more time, it would have been drug out for at least two more years. Three if they were waiting for Inara and Mail to kiss. 13 down... one to go. Then Serenity. Can’t wait.

Matthew Periolat

My favorite moment doesn't even have dialog. When Inara and Mal are kneeling over Nandy's body and Inara's expression goes from grief to vengeance. All it took was one look and Mal understood exactly what he needed to do. Some of the best acting I've ever seen.

James Lee

Shirt Idea "Your my kind of stupid" still watching hilarious video so great. The real trouble isn't finding your kind of stupid, the real trouble is finding your own kind of crazy. Wish I could find my kind of crazy....

Baron

Great episode as always. I understand Natalie's desire to get Mal & Inara together, but while Mal has referred to Inara's work as a respectable profession. I really have my doubts of her remaining a companion and having a relationship with Mal. As a companion she reads other people's actions and feelings so she can do her job better while remaining objective herself. Developing feelings herself or exposing those feelings is counter-productive and exposes her to being hurt. This episode brought her feelings for Mal out to the point she needed to confront them. Her response is to run away or at least plan to. One episode and a movie is an eternity in this make believe universe we all enjoy.

Don Struble

There is something about Inara. She gave up running her own house, training new woman, helping them to go gallivanting around the star system "with out a care in the world". Why, what could make some one do that? Also remember she is in good standing with the companion guild meaning they agree with her decision. Is it any wonder she would run again? Yes of course Jayne is very dependable. Love your reactions, see you next time for one of my favorite episodes. You will need to pay close attention to everything. How one scene transitions to the next and so on, but you do well with that already so I will shut up now. Shiny.

Garrick Smalley

This episode was directed by Thomas Wright, who I believe is the same Thomas Wright who directed some of the Max Headroom Show episodes from the early 80s. And, he's also from my home town of Stanford, KY.

MotoDork

Of course I know. However, since it kinda starts at the end of the episode before it (that one word...), I simply can't skip it, when I go through it again... For me, when rewatching the series, I manage to keep the sadness and emptiness of that episode in check by admiring what Joss and the whole team have achieved there. It's, for me, simply the greatest TV episode ever created. A masterpiece.

Patrick Armbruster

In a way, she totally admitted her feelings for Mal when she said she was leaving.

Robert Reichle

I watch the entire Buffy series once a year. Never gets old, and there's only one episode I skip. The one that's just too sad to watch a second time. You know what I mean, I'm sure.

Robert Reichle

River asked "WHO do you think is in there?" Not what.

John

Ok, I tried again and it worked this time. I wasn't logged in to Google Drive before. Even though I could get to the link, it wouldn't let me view or download. After signing in, I could do both.

John

"Unable to play this video at this time. The number of allowed playbacks has been exceeded. Please try again later."

John

*credits roll* Yeah, well... guess that's how it had to go. *sigh* Great reaction, Nat. Thanks for posting. Needed that.

Luis Torrefranca

"I don't want it to end." The feelings of every Firefly fan for the past 17 years.

Vert

Dang it, the anticipation on your face at the end, only to be dashed. Wow, a real sucker punch of an episode, and you took us along on all the highs and the lows. Thanks Nat.

Darryl Low

"... or 'Browncoats' as you like to be called..." Seems like you have an addition to your wardrobe there. A jacket of an earthy tone.

Luis Torrefranca

I know I say this every time; but I needed this today. Thank you for being there Nat.

Aaron Taft

Yeah, this was definitely one of the toughest ones to get through. Also, such a shame it never had the chance to be a part of what was aired on Fox due to the network execs having their vendetta against Joss Whedon. Same deal with the series finale. BTW, in case no one has mentioned before, there is some supplemental print material which takes place between “Objects in Space” and the movie. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t necessarily spoil anything for the movie, and it will answer some of the burning questions you’ve brought up that the movie unfortunately doesn’t address in full.

bytefyre

River actually said "I wonder WHO is in there". BTW, if you want to see more of Nathan Fillion, watch "Castle". Summer Glau, watch "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" or Adam Baldwin, The series "Chuck" is a great as well.

James Young

Good call Patrick! I totally agree. Dollhouse was incredible and I still have fond memories of Buffy. Including realizing very recently that the first episode of Buffy has a very young Duke Crocker from Haven.

Todd Spencer

If you like Joss Whedon's style, I strongly suggest to go "Dollhouse" (2 seasons of 13 episodes) or "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" (7 seasons) next. Both are more than worth it... (After Serenity, I mean...)
