This movie has grown in my opinion since it launched. Originally people were furious that "The Mandarin" was not authentic. They were upset that Tony wasn't in the suit enough. They were upset about the kid. But yeah, doing a movie about the PTSD of Avengers... was a stroke of genius, and something very few people would have the cojones to do. Tony is messed up because he was almost trapped in space. This movie is sort of relevant again due to Shang-Chi coming out in a few days. I feel like this is one of the "smarter" Marvel movies. All the suits at the end came from the deep basement, no idea why Tony didn't call one of them sooner in the movie, but yeah, they're all prototypes he was just churning out.

Cory Silver

New to the community and I know this is old but just wanted to point out that all the suits that Tony had been making before the beginning of this movie were shown when he was lowering Mark 42 into his basement you could see all the other suits below ground, so it's implied that because they were underneath the house foundation that they weren't destroyed when the house was.

Joseph C Gdaniec

A lot of people hate this movie for one of the following reasons: 1. Too much Tony Stark, not enough Iron Man, though his character development has always been good for me 2. Tony's mental health issues are inconsequential to the film, though I like how it humanized a superhero to show that even someone as arrogant and egotistical as him has problems. 3. The Mandarin plot twist was weak. This I actually agree with. The Mandarin is a real villain in the comics and is one of Iron Man's most consistent foes. Kind of like what Green Goblin is to Spider-Man, 4. Tony Stark destroying his armor is pointless. Again, I agree, him doing this and getting the surgery were supposed to mean that he was effectively retiring as a superhero, which obviously doesn't stick for long. All in all, a good movie, though it does have a lot of holes in it, so I usually put it in my bottom 3, along with Thor: The Dark World and The Incredible Hulk

Josh Lomax

That was the kid from Jurassic World. This will not be the last time we see him in the Marvel movies. Keep an eye out for him. And no cheating by looking at his IMDB page.

Tranquil_Gnome

Oh my gosh - Natalie's comments had me laughing out loud - i.e. "This terrorist DOES have a good production company!" and "Even Iron Man can work from home!" THIS is why I became a patron! Keep up the fun viewing!

This_Jedi_crafts

Yeah, you are suppose to have your own copy. I watch along using Disney+.

UngawdlyJish

just got her patreon to watch full reactions but this is all blurry and has no sound of the actual film, is that supposed to happen?

JPShadow

Odd, I was just able to download it.

Andrew Uhl

anyone know how to bypass the "too many users have downloaded this file" error? It says to wait a day but I'm never able to download it.

BNJ

The way RDJ plays Tony's panic attacks feels so real. It gives me anxiety just watching him.

John

Rewatch the scene where he says it's time for the house party protocol. The camera goes to the construction crew on his house and a steel door opens, he had extra suits stored in a vault. He didn't want them in view so pepper could criticize him

Christopher Robles

I just learned that was considered one of the worst Marvel movies, even worse than Iron Man 2. I'm surprised. IMO Iron Man 2 is just cool, meanwhile Iron Man 3 is very entertaining. We also have great character development for Tony. I mean sure, the suits are weaker compared in other 2 movies. But It's not about the suit, is about the man inside the suit.

luckywind

First time seeing this one. Is this the Iron Man movie that everybody hates so much? I thought it was pretty good!

Garren Haskell

I have just binge watched along with you and am so excited to see how you react to all the amazing things to come with Marvel! It's such a popular franchise for a reason imo

john collins

I was working at a high school when this movie came out, and there was no end to the joy of being able to go around saying "some people call me a terrorist, but I consider myself a teacher".

LudicDave

Was nice to revisit this and return to the MCU with you Nat. I always really liked this one; the way it forces Tony to rely on himself and not his suits. Not sure if you missed it with commenting on something, or forgot, but the suit took him to Tennessee because that was the last location Jarvis had searched for, when Tony was reviewing the 'bomb' site where Happy got injured. Also, fun little bit you might not have noticed; the director/writer for Iron Man 3, Shane Black also wrote and directed Lethal Weapon - among a good number of other action movies..

Misty Crom

Hey Karen! Have you tried downloading the file? I’ve heard that’s helped, but please let me know if not.

Natalie Gold

Hey Danishprince! Have you tried downloading the video. I’ve heard that’s helped folks be able to view it.

Natalie Gold

Hey Nat! I’m glad you’ve continued this MCU journey you’re on; we definitely all understand that it was going to take some time for the next movie to come given the holiday films you wanted to react to in December. I haven’t seen anyone else mention this yet, but since you liked Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery so much, there is a Marvel One-Shot called “All Hail the King” set after this movie which features him. I don’t think it’s available on Disney+ like some of the other Marvel One-Shot shorts are, but ironically, it IS included as an extra for “Thor: The Dark World” on iTunes if you purchase that movie for your next MCU reaction.

bytefyre

"Even Iron Man can work from home." I love it!! 😂 I was FINALLY able to download & watch this yesterday late afternoon/early evening. And that was such a great reaction! 😊 This movie is in my top 10 of favorite MCU movies. If you watch this movie again, be sure to look at the necklace that Tony gave to Pepper at the end. It was made from the remaining shrapnel that Tony had taken out in the surgery scene right before. Loved seeing Koda there with you during the intro. Next up in the MCU, "Thor: The Dark World". Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Randee Carreno

Just realized, there's one obsession Tony doesn't give up, and that's his need to protect the people he cares about. We'll see that come up several times in the future.

Texas Anla'Shok

*Thumbs up* I really like this kind of video. The MCU is a really unique phenomenon in the history of movies. The way they've been able to hold so many stories together as an interlocking narrative has been really amazing. Looking forward to seeing more of your reactions as you work your way through the phases.

Michael Cruse

You really nailed (redacted), Nat. Right at the very beginning...Great instincts. When the movie first hit, most people were surprised when (redacted) turned out to be (redacted). Anyway, loved your reaction to the death of (redacted). Great video as always!

Scott Greene

I think only a dozen got destroyed, the rest were in another chamber below them. The wreckage had to be cleared away first before the chamber could be opened up to release that second batch of suits. I think Natalie missed that line when Tony and Rhodey were on the boat.

Scott Greene

can't play

Karen Casper

Not able to play either :/

Danishprince

Same here.

Randee Carreno

Can’t play

Joel

Hoping to watch this later during the day. I go to play it, and I get a little message at the bottom saying "this video cannot be played". I'm hoping that it's just something like the number of playbacks have been exceeded at the present time, and that I can watch it later. Not sure what else it could be since I can't watch any of the videos on Google Drive. I'll be sure to leave my thoughts whenever I'm able to watch it. 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Randee Carreno

I really like what they did with him making all the suits in this. Aliens invaded and freaked him out so much he just started making suits that could handle anything he could imagine happening. "what if i need a suit to hold up a crane thats falling?" so he makes it. But then he is forced to face most of the movie without his suit, and by the end he realizes the suits aren't Iron Man, he is.

Kevin Morris

It's definitely not a plot hole that he has a ton of suits at the end. They lay it out clearly at the start that Tony has insomnia and he's been dealing with it by building Iron Man suits. The main suit of the movie is the Mk. 42, so it's safe to assume that there are 41 others. A few of them are destroyed in the Mandarin's attack, but the vast majority are in storage. When the construction crew finishes clearing the debris, he has Jarvis activate the house party protocol, and you see the door to the vault underneath the house open and all of the arc reactors inside light up.

Robert C

"Even Iron Man can work from home" Genius Nat 🤣 Great to switch on this morning and see that you had managed to overcome your technical issues. We never doubted you Nat. Good to see Koda back in the limelight. Been a while since I've seen this movie and had forgotten how entertaining it was, punctuated by your fun commentary. Jiving in the last video, and dancing to the intro in this one, and you got the chance to try out your British accent again, not heard since your Pokemon gameplays. Loved Brian Tyler's score and his Iron Man theme. He also does the score for the next Thor movie and comes up with another great theme Thanks for another fantastic video Nat and can't wait for the next one. And thumbs up for putting your lamp to Iron Man RED.

Darryl Low

Hey! Loved the reaction Natalie! You are very empathetic and I appreciate how much you engage with the MCU characters. Hope you continue soon!! The arrival of the other Iron man suits is set up throughout the movie. We see the Mark 42 enter the vault when Tony talks to Happy, after the house explosion JARVIS says the vault has been buried in rubble and later we see construction workers clearing the vault and the suits escaping. Its a quick scene though so you may have missed it.

George Baxter

Nat's reactions are a pleasure to watch, as always. I know this is generally considered one of the worst MCU movies, but I think it's decent. It does have some continuity problems (the Iron Man suit is powered by the arc reactor in Tony's chest, so why does it need to be recharged with an extension chord?), and a lot of people were upset that the Mandarin (one of Iron Man's main adversaries in the comics) turns out to be a fraud. Personally, I think it has more to do with the fact that Iron Man 3 is surrounded by some truly great Marvel movies and tends to suffer in comparison. Still, if you take it on its own merits and don't compare it to the rest of the MCU, I think it's a fun little movie.

Chris Gronau

I also second this. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a great movie. Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer are great together.

Chris Gronau

When I saw the dog at the beginning I was thinking there was another apology coming :) When it took you a moment to realise who they were talking about taking the President's job I literally laughed out loud. That and the extreme low-key denial over Pepper falling were golden - I mean, ultimately your instincts were right!

crawlie

This was so good, and the movies only get better 😭😭 someone wake me up in 2 weeks for the next one 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Stephen Marsh

Isn't there the possibility of end-credits scenes needing to be in actual release order though?

Robert Reichle

Next on the release chronology is Thor 2 followed by Captain America 2 if you need clarification on order, but phase 2 movies are pretty separate films that seem to take place at the same time just about. Ant man just needs to e the last of phase 2 with age of Ultron right before it, the other 3 you can basically pick the order of

Nicholas Hentges

That's so weird to get corrected for that, because technically it isn't really true as of what has been released so far. (Could argue specifics, but better to stay away in case natalie gets a spoiler)

Nicholas Hentges

Yeah, a lot of people didnt like the PTSD part, which I love. The only thing I dont really like is the voice over throughout the movie, the end credit stinger gives it context, but otherwise it feels out of place. Favorite Iron Man movie though

Nicholas Hentges

The current suit is Mark 42. That means he has built 41 other suits. Most of them were in storage in a vault beneath the house. Just the ones on display in the house were destroyed. During the movie, they mentioned Jarvis digging through the rubble, that was to get to the vault. Then in a scene he mentioned activating House Party Protocol. That was launching all of the stored suits using AI. It's all covered right there in the movie dialogue.

Thomas Yanez

I don't understand the hate. This is my favourite of the three Iron Man movies. Not the best of the MCU movies, but it's up there.

Stephen Ray

She definitely wasn't paying attention at that point.

Stephen Ray

So glad my eyes got back to being undilated after an eye exam just as this went live. Honestly, if Marvel had said they were going to do a dozen more Iron Man movies with Robert Downey Jr and Shane Black writing and directing, I'd've been there for all of them.

Kevin Mowery

Not that I care, Natalie, but some of the extreme comic book fans would want to correct you that it's not the Marvel universe; it's the Marvel multiverse. I'm still not sure what the difference is, but I've been corrected more than once, and I'm a bit tired of it, so I feel that I should save you from that indignity in case it never comes up... :)

Alan Kobb

A lot of people consider this the worst Iron man, but personally, I think it's better than 2. Obviously Iron Man 1 is iconic, but this one is more ambitious in its themes and I appreciate that about it. Also, brownie points for not having just another villain who got a suit or an arc reactor. About the fact that Tony's suits were "destroyed" with his house, only the ones that were on display in his garage were destroyed. For a while, every time he created a new suit, he put the previous ones on display (you can see a recreation of the Mark 1 from the cave on the left), but after a while he evidently ran out of room. The other suits were hidden under the house in a vault, only to be used for the "House Party Protocol" that Jarvis mentioned while I think you might have been talking about another thing. =P

Omni Jacala

One of my favorite parts of this movie is the fact that Tony solved the lady's formula when he was drunk off his ass, on the back of the one night stand goodbye note.

Krylo

I love Iron Man 3 more than 2. Thor 2 is the only one I'm kinda meh on, and it's not too bad. Haven't seen it in a long time though.

Joe Blankenship

OK, honesty to on... this is my least favorite of the Marvels. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad movie at all, just feels a step down from previous Iron Man movies and just feels weak compared to what has come before and what is to come. Now, having said that, I totally appreciate your fresh take and your perspective did make the watch enjoyable. I am truly intrigued what you will think of upcoming Marvels, especially the next one! But that’s the future. Tonight was a good night and I cannot wait for what’s next!

Matthew Periolat

I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed Iron Man 3! The "House Party Protocol" was ridiculous, but not in an awful way. And I guess due to "Mk 42," we knew there were possibly 41 other suits, give or take a few. I'm surprised more of them weren't destroyed, though.

Troy B.

First of all, I think people are too harsh on IM3 and Thor 2. They're good in their own ways, too, just different, and maybe they're not what you wanted them to be, but they're just as good if you enjoy them for what they are. I have to say I was primarily excited to see how Nat would respond to the plane/skydiving sequence. I think that's one of the single best scenes put to film in the last ten years or so. I remember being in the theater, and when they all landed safely in the water, everyone stood up from their seats and cheered. It reminded me of what movies can do, and why we go to them. If you're curious, that was actually done by the Red Bull skydiving team, and the way they did it was perform the sequence several times over a flat landing area, and then the SFX team overlaid a different background so it would look like they were above a Florida coastal town, but the skydiving was all real. Great reaction as always, Nat. I agree, this was one of the best movies for Tony's character. Keep up the awesome work, and thanks, as always, for all the smiles. Cheers!

Andy Jordan

After IM3 and Thor2 it kicks into gear and the movies are all great!

Jayson Phillips

I'm excited for Winter Soldier because I think Nat will really like it. That one and Thor Ragnarok are my overall co-favorites

It Hurt A Lot

Oh I have! Loved it!

Natalie Gold

I’m watching whatever is on Disney+ :)

Natalie Gold

Phase 2 Thor The Dark World and Iron Man 3 they're mediocre MCU films . But Captain America The Winter Soldier and Guardians of The Galaxy more then make up for any shortcomings because they are the crown jewels in this Phase

Anakin Starkiller

IM3 is definitely on the shittier side of the MCU.

The Golgothan

By the way, Freaks and Geeks is coming to Hulu on the 25th if you've never seen it. Great show. Only one season, sadly, but it's so good.

Joe Blankenship

I'm going to need to rent/buy the movie for this one from Prime. Are you watching the theatrical release?

John

Yes! I'm gonna go grab a drink and a snack...

Joe Blankenship

New patron here. Just caught up on the other MCU vids, and am enjoying revisiting them all along with you. Keep up the great work Natalie!

Mark Pingitore

Have you seen Kiss Kiss Bang Bang? Think you’d enjoy it a lot, really funny but dark too. Shane Black directed it as well, and that was credited with restarting RDJ’s career and is what got him the Iron Man job.

Andy Crawley

This will be cool, cuz it'll be the first movie on here that I haven't seen myself.

Andrew T

Awesome, Nat! Glad you were able to finish it today. Cueing up my copy right now. Cheers!

Andy Jordan

Well I know what I’m doing with my evening!!!😃

mrhalfbit

Yay!
