Hey guys!
Here is my reaction to the next Captain America movie! This one really surprised me as I wasn't expecting to see so many different characters coming together and facing off with one another. As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments below and until the next one, ✨stay golden!✨

First, Lagos.. comes back in WandaVision.
Second, yes, Cap, Falcon, Wanda, Vision, and Rhodey all live on the Avengers base, as we saw at the end of Age of Ultron.
Ok, so, just finished Ant Man, let's keep the train rolling.
Thank you for coming to my "Civil War" in the comics TED Talk.
So, it all started with a team of young heroes called the New Warriors. They basically had a reality TV show, where they would go and harass criminals, or something. So they found out a few bad guys were hiding out in a house, and went to go bust it up, while filming live. It turns out, one of the criminals was a guy called Nitro, whose power was to explode. And it took out several city blocks, including an elementary school. So that was different from the movies. It actually was superheroes acting irresponsibly. So the government decided that all the super heroes needed to register with the government, and couldn't just do whatever they wanted anymore.
Captain America, and Iron Man were indeed the leaders of the Anti, and Pro Registration groups.
There was also a Sub Plot with "The Illuminati" A group of 6 of the smartest / faction leader heroes. It was Tony Stark, Professor X, Dr. Strange, Namor (The Sub-Mariner), Black Bolt, Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic). So they had like, a high tech prison in another dimension (The Negative Zone) they were locking away the heroes who refused to register.
There was a lot of crazy stuff going on.
So in the movie, they switched a few things around, obviously. Some of the characters who were a big part of the story weren't actually in the movies yet.
Oh, the other, arguably biggest thing about the Civil War is that Spider-Man joined Tony Stark on the Pro-Registration side, and publicly took off his mask, revealing to the world that he was Peter Parker.
https://qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-59ea5869b22fa7efe0b2100dd243351f-c
This was all undone a bit later when Spider-Man made a deal with the devil.
See, basically when he revealed who he was, his enemies started targeting his family right away. Kingpin sent a hitman, and Aunt May.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EEiPe_oXsAEfpOX?format=jpg&name=large
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EEiPe_VXkAUiMdN?format=jpg&name=360x360
So Peter went all around and even went to Dr. Strange and no one could help him save Aunt May from a bullet wound.
So he made a deal with the devil (Yes literally) and sold his MARRIAGE to Mary Jane to him, in return for his Aunt to be ok, and also his secret identity was secret again, and some other things changed too.
This wasn't a very well loved story. If you want to read more.

There's a short little thing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA2PAYAIAhw
There is a great video about it.
Ok, I'm done writing this!
Oh! Here's a vid they did about Civil War also!

So yeah Thor wasn't in Civil War because in the comic story, he was dead at the time. Hulk was off doing his own thing too. Similar to the movie, he flew off in a space ship.
I think that about covers everything. I think the major flaws in the movie are just, ue to time constraints. This was a massive train to get moving, introducing two heroes for the first time ever, bringing Ant Man into the fold officially, being a sequel to two movies at once, and setting the stage for the future.
I think the idiot reality TV star celebrity heroes blowing up a town was better than the Socovia thing. The heroes didn't "really" do anything wrong, but that was the reason that the movie had to work with. So, we got a grieving mom meeting with Tony Stark. Which, did happen in the comic, but it was done better there.
Some stuff from the comic event was done better in the movie too though.
It's so cool that you have no idea about any twists or whatever, AND that you can appreciate them.

This movie is rough bc both Cap and Tony were partly right and wrong. They definitely should not have signed to work under governments with their own agendas, but public perception for heroes definitely matters, and if the public thinks the Avengers always leave after causing destruction they need to do something to win back public sentiment and just saying no and not trying to come up with an alternative to just "punching his way out" is Cap's fault. I also think that in the end Cap is a shitty friend, I don't see real friends lying about information like the death of my parents and tossing me out to dry and sacrificing my friendship for another friend, so frustrating. Honestly I don't think Tony's reaction to that new was "childish" or "being a child" adults can easily get emotional too and having that emotional of a revelation and having the person there physically responsible makes a lot of sense why he would react that way..and honestly he might not have reacted that way if Steve had told him about his parents when he found out and gave Tony more time to process

They forgot the people that want them to sign the accord are practically similar to the people who decided to nuke New York back in the first Avenger movie

Well, not a lot of people recognized him in this movie at first. A few of my friends didn't recognize him (he does look a lot different in this). Plus, she's only seen each MCU film one time each (except for Guardians of the Galaxy), so I can understand why she didn't recognize him. What got me up in arms, even to this day, is how he became Secretary of State after the events of The Incredible Hulk!

The number of times Spider-Man tells a joke while fighting a villain can be counted on one hand; I can only remember "Here's your change" to Doc Ock while flinging a bag of money at him. *YAWN* The Raimi movies peaked during the hospital/Evil Dead homage scene in 2, which is amazing, I'll grant you.

Omg yes, Nat, you gotta go back and watch the Tobey Maguire movies.
As good as Tom Holland is, his movies feel so much a part of the MCU that they’ve kinda stopped feeling like proper Spider-Man and more like the MCU formula, that and although the suit LOOKS cool, Peter having a techy Spidey suit takes away from Peter Parker a bit, that and numerous other things that they abruptly shove in to make him more like the Spider-Man we want and it doesn’t come off as cohesive.
You go back and watch those older Spidey movies from the 2000’s and yeah a few bits here and there are dated and Tobey is a bit old to be playing the Spidey/Peter that the director Sam Raimi was going for, but they get the vibe of PETER PARKER and Spider-Man and the world that surrounds him, J Jonah Jameson, his love life, the villains (minus the third one), the actual storytelling in terms of presenting a loner dorky dude becoming a hero is still gold in terms of superhero movies.
Definitely give them a watch down the line.

The Directors are poking fun at the DC movie that came out before this (Batman v. Superman) for being bad at establishing shots - hence the ludicrously large font on city names.

Great reaction. Many ironic questions asked that will get answered. And ironic timing of those questions and the release of this reaction, after what the rest of us watched what happened last week in the MCU and what we're going to watch next week.

Wow, I can't believe how many films you have left to see before Infinity War and Infinity War is mind blowing!! But the film's left before are also so very good. Spider-Man, Strange, Black Panther, Thor, such a great film list to see still.

The next movie I believe is Spider-Man: Homecoming. Which isn't on Disney+ because Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man. Sony and Disney have the SPider-Man deal where Marvel Studios can have Spider-Man in the MCU and Sony can use MCU characters in Sony's Spider-Man films.

I loved that you had no idea Black Panther or Spiderman were in this one. When I saw this in theatre, I nearly squealed seeing Tony sitting down w Aunt May. It reignited my old RomCom mania bc they both (Marisa Tomei & Robert Downey) fall in love in 1994's ONLY YOU (which I must strongly urge you to react to) which is my favorite all time Romance film! Such the perfect follow up to this one to lift up the spirits by seeing them both in much better places (like italy)! Yaay, keep rockin' it, Nat! Golden!

dunno, im squarely on Caps side too though. The UN has proven to be utterly incompetent in these matters multiple times in the past. If you give the UN power Screbrenica happens. Nor is there any other government agency id trust with this. And the accords were a pile of bs anyways - Wakanda, the nation publicly spearheading this thing have been running operations in africa and the US too. (and thats just what we know about). And first thing the new black panther does after the accords are signed is start a freaking manhunt. And where was the oh so helpful UN during infinity war and endgame? Nah - im 100% on caps side. There is not a single piece of evidence, historical or inside the fictional universe, that supports that the UN would have done any better. If it had been up to the UN the terrorists would have gotten their hand on a biological weapon. Also since when do we fault people for trying to save other but failing? Do you put doctors in jail for doing their best but being unable to beat death? Policemen? Firefighters? A person administering first aid? No, we dont. And the worst thing isnt that the accords just apply to people that choose to be in the superhero business. It applies to all superpowered beings, regardless of what they are doing. Thats discrimination. Someone like Hawkeye had the chance to retire, thats fine. But would the Hulk have had the choice to just retire? Nah. They treated him and the other like nukes. Tools. Living weapons. So yeah - maybe they do need some kind of supervision. But who should that be? Government or Companies that demonstrably are less trustworthy than the avengers? Governments that shift the blame to the avengers while at the same time running black ops all around the world all the time? Nah. The accords were bullshit. And tony had very little logical arguments on his side. He was doing it to alleviate his own guilt and he was guilt-tripping the others.

Hey Nat, I also enjoy all three of the of the Captain America movies more than most MCU films with Winter Soldier being my all time fave of the bunch and the other two in my top 5. They all seem very well written and Chris Evans really imbues the Cap character with spirit and hope and a lack of cynicism that i really enjoy. I truly enjoy revisiting these films.. thank you.

To clarify the end credit scene with Bucky going under, it isn't to wipe his mind or his memories. It's to remove the mental conditioning so that no one can use that code phrase they did to control him from that red book. So until they wipe it out, he is going under. It's sad, but it's also a good thing.
Also, you may not know this but the Spider-Man films, the two that were made so far, are not on Disney+. Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man as a character and made a deal with Marvel and Disney to share the character, so he only shows up in Marvel Avengers things, crossovers like Civil War. But solo films are owned by Sony. So you will have to find them elsewhere to view for this. Spider-Man: Homecoming takes place between Guardians Vol 2 and Thor: Ragnarok to give you an idea of the timeline.

Gawd.....watching the entire MCU again with you is an absolute BLAST. Counting the days until you get to the final seconds of Avengers: Endgame. It will simultaneously destroy you and make your heart soar. Honestly though, you won't know the true pleasure of the MCU until you get to experience Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, and WandaVision. That's a LOT of viewing but look at it this way.......a lot of your subscribers have already seen them and will be more than willing to watch them again with you, myself included.

As good as this movie is... I love it yet hate it at the same time. Great to see all of the characters together but I seriously hate seeing all of them at odds with one another. I also loved the Tobey Maguire Spiderman movies. well all but the third one. Then when they came out with the Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies, I was like forget it, Tobey is not even 40 and they were rebooting them. Two of those movies in and then they turn around and reboot Spiderman yet again with Tom Holland. I was not going to even watch them but when I saw Tom in this movie, I decided to give the first one a chance. I am glad I did because I loved it. I didn't think I would but Tom Holland does a great job.

I occurred to me recently that were Tony to run for president, I wouldn't vote for him. His obsessive need to protect...everything would lead him to enact measures that would be borderline, if not actually totalitarian.
That aside, I think Tom Holland is my favorite Spider-Man, he's the most teenage one so far.
And yeah, "Age of Ultron" was "Avengers 2", this is basically "Avengers 2.5".

As said, the line you missed from Spiderman at the airport was "Hey, has anyone seen this really old movie, Empire Strikes back? ..." Which is why they started commenting (understandably) on his age.
As others have said, things really do just get better and better from here on out.
Oh, few fun little bits. The guy who at the very end was talking to Zemo played Watson in Sherlock, to Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange)'s Sherlock Holmes. And, of course RDJ played Sherlock in the Serlock Holmes movies, with Jude Law as his Watson. Also, Jude Law will be in the MCU too (not saying anything of when/where though) so there'll be 2 sets of Holmes and Watson in the MCU. He (the guy with Zemo) also plays Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit movies.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure Sharon is Peggy's granddaughter.
So, next stop, Mister Holm... er... Doctor Strange!

Heartbreaking moment: “Steve doesn’t know! Does he?”
I think he knew since the bunker in Winter Soldier. He said someone would have stopped HYDRA if they found out. “Accidents will happen.” against the headline of the Starks death in a car crash. Truth be told, it improves the rewatch factor of the MCU. Iron Man, Cap, Avengers, Winter Soldier, Ultron all take on additional layers. It’s really fantastic.
My big cry? I openly wept in the theater when Cap got the text. I knew immediately what it meant and it broke my heart.
No objection to past Spider-Man movies or X-Men movies. You just... never know, do you?
Meantime, next Monday? Might be feeling a bit Strange. Should see a doctor about that.

I think the Captain America films all have a strong through-line of Steve and his personal ideology, and especially his connection with Bucky. Because of that it would be inappropriate as a full "Avengers" pic (that are designed to bring together multiple story strands) despite the fact that this obviously featured Avengers characters. It specifically brings the main arc to completion of becoming Captain America and eventually shedding that identity.

I was going to recommend Nat watching the trailers and posting reactions, mostly cause the MCU trailers are so good. But! There are some things they would spoil and I can't wait for Nat's reaction. Stay away from trailers, Nat!

Love your reactions. I never get tired of watching this movie. It seems you are heavily on Cap's side, but If you remove all emotions out of it. We would all be in Iron Man's side. The only reason we considered Cap's side is because we know them personally, we know they are truly, truly good. But in real life, they are technically a private company with too much power. And in real life, none of us would agree with that. We would want accountability, just like we expect accountability from the government. Cap says, he doesn't trust 'them' because they are made of people, and people have agendas and those agendas change... but that can be said about them, they are people too. But at least with the government, they are voted in by the people. I know because we care about those characters and love them, it seems like what the governments/UN is doing is stupid, but it isn't.

That was a super fun reaction. When it was over i almost wanted to watch it all over again.
The first Captain America movie didn't really do it for me. I thought Winter Soldier was really great, but Civil War is outstanding. It's not my favourite MCU film for sheer enjoyment (that spot is taken by Thor: Ragnarok - most days) but it might be the best script. It's so good. Total nerdgasm.
And Black Panther. Oh god. His lines about vengeance at the end always makes me choke up a bit.

I loved revisiting this installment despite how gut-wrenching it is to see them fight each other, and your reactions were a lot of fun. I would advise being extra careful going forward when you Google or IMDb characters/actors, as the spoiler potential really ramps up these next few movies. I really hope the YouTubers behave in the comments, too, but I wouldn't count on it.

Watching you be so surprised at all the twists and introduction of characters because you hadn't seen any trailers or gotten spoiled was just such a JOY!.

RDJ and Marissa also had one or two scenes together in Chaplin which is some of if not RDJ's best work.

Fun fact. When tony tells peter to move his leg that was because tom forgot some blocking, to move his leg so robert could sit down. There is alot of improv between the 2 characters.

I remember the marketing for this one leading up was all about whose side are you gonna take, Cap or Tony? So I went into the theater completely open minded because I love them both. Then once I got into the movie I was more leaning toward agreeing with Cap. Until Tony said I don't care, he killed my Mom. Then I was like, ok yeah, I can see it

I thought when she went to look up Chadwick's character she was going to spoil herself on the other big surprise character. Before release it was all in the trailers, so everyone had been spoiled by the time it was in theaters with the "Yo, Underoos" line. A few more huge character reveals coming up in the future movies that were also spoiled by the trailers, so looking forward to seeing the reaction of someone who genuinely didn't know before seeing it on the screen.

I don't think there is a way to avoid it besides subtitles. Plus if she's editing she will catch it in the edit. I would enjoy more on screen blurbs or visual text comments if something was caught in the edit.

This might be the first time I have cried at a reactor instead of the movie they were reacting to, but seeing how much empathy you had for all the heroes regardless of what side they were on was really beautiful.

And here we are, the beginning of the end, I am happy and sad because it means we go further and each time you seem to have more fun for each movie, but obviously the conclusion is closer and closer.
I was pleasantly surprised by your enthusiasm with Peter Parker haha, it was nice to see you laughing so much this time 😆
On that note, stay as always, stay Golden!

Happy Marvel Monday! This is one of the ones that I've been waiting for. Fantastic reaction! I absolutely loved your reactions to seeing both Black Panther and Spider-Man in this one. I think Peter Parker is 14 or 15 in this one. I'm leaning more towards 15. Fun Fact: this is Robert Downey Jr's & Marisa Tomei's(Peter's Aunt May)second movie together. They first starred in the 1994 romantic comedy movie "Only You". I highly recommend that movie. I can never pick between Team Iron Man or Team Captain America. I can see both sides regarding the Accords. Scott Lang aka Ant-Man is always the best. And yes, that one part during the airport battle Peter was referencing "The Empire Strikes Back" when Luke used his ship to trip the AT-AT Walkers. And T'Challa aka Black Panther is sheltering Bucky from the government in Wakanda, and he's being put back on ice until the Wakandan doctors find a way to get the brainwashing trigger words out of his head for good. Up next is in fact "Doctor Strange". 😊 That's another really good one. Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

I'm really looking forward to Doctor Strange 2 when it comes out next year; which is being directed by Sam Raimi! The first one is fine, but Marvel movies really shine when the bring in a unique director with their own vision, as James Gunn and Taika Waititi have proven with Guardians and Thor Ragnarok respectively.

So, I've been here for some time now and I was wondering why I find so enjoyable to watch a good movie while listening to another person's comments. And I realized that this is the closest we can get in these days to going to a second viewing of a movie you like with a friend that has not watched it yet...
Watching the emotions the friend feels when watching with fresh eyes brings back the same feelings you had the first time you watched it, and I love it.
Specially with this MCU that is the most enjoyable series I have ever seen...
So keep them coming Nat, and thanks for being our movies friend in this days.
Watch you in the next one...

I do like Tom Holland as Spiderman a lot, but the OG Spiderman film is still my favorite. It's probably nostalgia and all that.
Nat if you never saw it, you really should watch Spiderman 2 (2004) it's really good.

Really liked the whole innocents killed in the crossfire idea of this film I personally find Winter Solider to be a little overrated preferred the first Captain American film with its over the top Saturday morning cartoon feeling to its action and tone unique setting as well but with Civil War I enjoyed it a lot more than Winter Solider mostly because of the story.
