FIRST TIME WATCHING: Thor: Ragnarok!!

Comments

Ok, so here we are at Thor Ragnarok. I really remembered this one being right before Infinity War, but I guess that's only chronologically. Black Panther actually takes place right after Civil War, then Dr. Strange, then Thor 3. Oh well though. Time to Party, it's my Birthday! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zgz2xBrvVQ I learned from the comments this song was written by the guy from Devo Mark Mothersbaugh. There's a thing on Disney +, it has deleted scenes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0uIqxO26bw Here's a funny skit - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8atgsWFfDOg Anyway, what can I say that hasn't been said. This movie is a party, and I LOVE the tonal shift from the end of this movie to, moments later at the beginning of Infinity War. Here's a piece of art. https://d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net/wp/wp-content/images/Grandmaster-Collector.jpg Ok, that does it for this comment. I have no clue why I put so much effort into these things, I guess I'm enjoying it. Just a few more to go now. Oh, I remembered something I was going to say. This movie is based, partially on the "Planet Hulk" Comic Arc. So basically, before the Civil War, the illuminati decide to sent Hulk off into outer space, because he wrecked Vegas or something. Hulk gets mad and smashes the thing, and sends it off course, and he lands on a war world, instead of the peaceful planet he was meant for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciBwOTxLx0I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhUzzuRKhcI It's crazy how they took more from Planet Hulk than they did from the actual Thor Ragnarok story, but there were things, like his hammer getting broken, and him losing an eye. Also the tone was just, silly in the movie. Ok, I'm happy with this comment now, I think I did the movie justice. One last thing - Loki didn't kill Odin. Odin was very old, and it was the end of his cycle. Remember in Thor 1, when Odin just collapsed. he was about to die the second we saw him. That's why he was going to put Thor on the throne at the start of the first movie. A king doesn't put his son on the throne unless he's about to kick the bucket. Loki was just being mischievous, Being on Earth didn't hurt, or kill Odin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUT9_lgEPZc Team Thor. Yay Thor!

Cory Silver

asgardians like odin and thor are not immortal, just just have a lifespan of thousands of years.

Kevin

Also Immigrant song has a part talking about going to Valhalla which is part of Norse afterlife. And to answer your question as to why Dr. Strange cares about Loki it is because Loki specifically uses magics and sorcery, so he is a threat to more than the physical world. In the comics there is a run of chapters where Loki actually becomes Sorcerer Supreme as well. I think they have Dr. Strange deal with Loki this way a kind of a tip of the cap to comic book fans, since Loki would be a threat to Dr. Strange based on those

Joseph C Gdaniec

Immigrant song on the bridge because they are immigrating

Devin

Valkyrie is not going to be with thor, she is more into girls. Not a joke and not intended disrespectfully. The valkyrie who saved her in the flashback to the fight with Hela was her girlfriend. The director says she is bisexual and there was more dialogue discussing it but Disney had issues with it.

Lucifer Moon

You know where they are going! Odin said it at the start (:

FatLittleButterfly

Re: Karl Urban Check out "Red" sometime. "Red 2" as well.

Luis Torrefranca

I disagree, it's an absolute mistake to watch it chronologically, the release order is the best way to watch it. Period.

Because doctor strange runs things differently than the ancient one.

Yaorin

Ugh... it looks like you're watching this in release order, if Ragnarok comes before Black Panther. The chronological order would be a much, much better way to view it - you wouldn't have to break up the narrative flow of Infinity War and Endgame with TWO ENTIRE MOVIES, both of which happened before Infinity War (one WAY before) and you wouldn't be watching Ragnarok, which leads directly into Infinity War, before Black Panther which basically takes place a week after Civil War. For those watching at home - Disney+ even puts the movies in chronological order for you so you don't have to go through all the trouble of googling it.

Ellis Hugh

One of the things you seem to have missed was a line delivered at 54:00 mins. Thor, on seeing Hulk, says "We know each other. He's a friend from work!" A bit of heartwarming trivia is that line was suggested by a Make-A-Wish kid named Darcy while visiting the set.

Richard Ryan

Love your hair-style on this video 😉

Kenny Teeology

Second vote for Dredd! It's very good!

Robert Haynes

I would suggest Dredd from 2012 if you dig Karl Urban and action scifi <3

Rob Lowe

I will answer 90% of your questions from the viewing: Because it is funny, that's why.

cartoonrobot

PAY ATTENTION!!! 😂 You missed half the jokes. Use subtitles or something. 😝

cartoonrobot

(Direct reference to Zep) "I LOVE THIS SONG!!!" (oh my #heartemoticon)

Ortizmo2000

I liked your bronze

David Miles

More fun facts!: Most of the lines in Thor: Ragnarok were ad libbed on the fly, they said they had a lot of fun making this movie. Check out the behind the scenes of this movie on youtube!

Coojw

Fun fact: Taika Waititi was Korg!!

Coojw

You should definitely check out the Spartacus TV show, it's soooo good!

that's what cracks me up actually Limark95 it took a few episodes to not want to answer her every question, I find it charming now.

Ken - Kendo161

Listen, I love your reactions and commentary, Nat, but this one really frustrated me. Obviously, you're going to comment on what's happening on-screen, but I don't think you stopped talking the entire movie. Every joke, every reference, every plot-point, every fight scene. All I could hear was you talking about something else, or asking the audience a question that we wouldn't need to answer because the movie wasn't over, or because it had already been explained while you were talking. I'm sorry, but I was really looking forward to this reaction, and it seems like you've only seen half the movie.

GalaxyManPrime

Also, Thor's 'Point-Break' because Tony called him that in the first Avengers movie. "You got a mean swing Point-Break!"

Misty Crom

You... asked where Skurge (Karl Urban) got his guns from? He... was literally showing them off when Thor was trying to get back to Asgard at the start of the movie. He got them form Tex-arse (his way of saying it, not mine!). Also, Taika Waititi played Korg. Also-also, on the Blu-ray, Taika's commentary is continually interrupted by his then like 3yr-old daughter and it's the most adorable thing.

Misty Crom

Go ahead and be sassy to any and all. These movie while good do have plot holes and fans do need to remember that. I too like wolves. The thing is if I grew up with the Norse mythology as my religion I would have a different outlook on these murderous dogs that kept eating my livestock. But hey I love wolves. On the subject of The Boys: don't care. About Carl Urban, check out Dredd (2012). warning violence on the scale of 300.

Garrick Smalley

Worth the wait :) Just a couple more and we're finally in Infinity war :):)

archie castillo

(Finally) Joined the Patreon specifically for this reaction video :)

Bob Wagstaff

If you notice, part of the reason why it was necessary to keep Hela off of Asgard is that she would become stronger if she went there. If you notice her outfit on Earth, is it torn and the green is not really bright. Once on Asgard, her outfit is repaired and the green becomes brighter. Also, the her helm is important, because it's part of her armor, and it signifies her station. Thor actually has a helm too, but they never showed it in the movies except when he was getting ready to fight The Hulk.

Wyn Nyx

Man, norse mythology makes me laugh and scratch my head sometimes :P

Yani Dodge

I am SO EXCITED for these next two movies! :D

Yani Dodge

Came solely to mention what a thirst trap Cate Blanchett has been since the LOTR movies and this one was NO exception.

Robert Rivers

I miss Xena. That's a show that Nattie could really get her teeth into.

Darryl Low

She is part of the cast in Thor 4. Probably just wasn't around during the events with Hela and had to dust off some things, would be my take, as she also could not return to Asgard without... well, Asgard.

Ulrich Unterbrunner

Hela looks more like Loki because in comics she’s actually his daughter. They switched it for the movie but kept their comic outfits.

Acash33

Ugh the one thing she says makes me realize why I can’t stand the way they did the asgardians in the mcu. Strange actually had to admit a few times Loki was more powerful than him. The mcu underpowered him and Thor so much.

Acash33

I am with Nat on this one. The death of Thor's best friends was so terrible and sad... and I missed Lady Sif too. She couldn't be in Thor 3 because she was filming another show. I just hope she returns.

AC5555

Hela telling Loki to kneel. Hahahaha.

AC5555

Natalie you should watch the shorts they did for Thor ragnarok to promote the movie there pretty funny

Ben Gilshenan

The Ancient One could forsee the future to the point of her death which was after the Avengers so she knew if the Sorcerers should intervene or not ;)

Ulrich Unterbrunner

You should DEFINITELY watch The Boys on here - that would be SO amazing! And you know, if you've already seen Season One on your own, I don't know about anyone else, but I would be totally cool with you starting the reaction videos with Season Two straight away - just saying. ALSO...I laughed my ass off when you said "The big bad wolf" hahahahaha; that one moment was just perfect.

Mike Battams

Yes, he absolutely channeled DeForest Kelly, just like when Ewan McGregor honored Sir Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi) in voice and manner.

Gerald Corona

Classic Led Zeppelin!! Based on Norse Mythology, which is what inspired Stan Lee when he created Thor Odinson. And THIS is why we love The MCU. Playing Immigrant Song in a Thor movie seems like it can only happen in a "Fan-fiction" dream!

Gerald Corona

I read in some trivia that Chris Hemsworth was ready to leave the role until Taika Waititi revamped his character and made him more fun to play. Another great reaction😁👍

Wiremu Marshall

Yes please! Can we get the most thumbs ups on this comment that have ever been given? That way maybe it will actually happen!?

Brandon Scott

Now that Oden, the conqueror of The Nine Realms is gone, Thanos feels free to execute his big plan ...or so he thinks!

Gerald Corona

to be far it took me like 3 rewatches to realize who that was

Endling_king

"Who saves Asgard?!" "I don't understand." "WHO saves ASGARD?! At the end! Is it Bruce Banner? WHO?!" "Nobody saves it. It gets destroyed." "You mean Hela WINS? JESUS, Grampa, what did you read me this thing for??!"

Michael G. Munz

“I guess we’ll keep that from happening.” Well...he didn’t cause Ragnarok. Does that count?

Texas Anla'Shok

Cate Blanchett was HELA hot.........Sorry I had to

Tiger Chu

Nat, your hair looks great in this video. I'm also a huge fan of Karl Urban, he's also excellent as "Bones" McCoy in the recent Star Trek movies, he sounds so much like DeForest Kelly (The original Bones)

Chris Lane- Venturi 3D

Did you really not notice that Matt Damon was playing Loki in the Asgard play?

Garrett Henderson

For The Boys, there isn't a reason you couldnt just kick off from the start of the 2nd season.

Tarontagosh

Regarding the "Point Break" reference... I have this fantasy that one day she'll surprise us with a "Point Break" / "Road House" Patrick Swayze double feature.

Thomas Yanez

There will be times when some characters do not show up, it is safe to assume they were busy elsewhere, certainly when it comes to sorcerers who have whole other realms to deal with that most are not aware of. As for Hela getting from the hide out to the throne room "so quickly" I assume they took a while, but the director did not show a half an hour walk for what I thought were obvious reasons. A movie would be double the size if they had to show every little thing and explain every detail, sometimes you just need to make some assumptions.

Malcolm Wolf

Personally, I think you could get away with just jumping onto season 2 of "The Boys" without the need to rewatch season 1. I have seen a few reactors do it and people were fine with it.

Malcolm Wolf

RED Watch the movie RED for a good Karl Urban movie.

I never expected my Mondays to be this Good, now i'm looking forward to it every week

Jim

When you get to Endgame, there's gonna be some answers to the questions that you are specifically asking in this 'episode' ;)

Thomas Malley

Sam Neill also worked with Taika Waititi in the Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Fantastic funny film. Fun fact: Luke Hemsworth was in high consideration when they were casting for Thor. Then someone said that Luke has a brother who is an actor too. . . . Chris loves telling that story. So, extra funny that Luke plays the actor playing Thor.

Tranquil_Gnome

Yea please! Even if we missed your reactions for the first season of "The Boys", I (and I know many) would love to watch your reactions for the second season! Then we can watch the 3rd together!!

Azfaris

I had a ball, and so did you, Natalie! Dancing along to Led Zepplin! The song that you enjoyed is Immigrant Song. https://youtu.be/y8OtzJtp-EM. It really is appropriate because it's about Norse mythology: We come from the land of the ice and snow From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow The hammer of the gods Will drive our ships to new lands To fight the horde, sing and cry Valhalla, I am coming

Alan Kobb

Controversial hot take - I’m not a fan of this movie mainly because of everything discarded. You pointed out the quick death of the Warriors Three and Jane getting disappeared. There are behind the scenes reasons for Sif and Jane not being in the movie, but out of sight, out of mind. The analogy I’ve always used is picture a house. It’s a good foundation on the first floor and the second story is a bit rickety and still, a good house. What’s the plan with new folks taking over? Bulldoze the house and start over. That is kinda what happened here. Having said that, it’s still entertaining and funny, just not the Thor I enjoyed in the first movies. But given this is more popular than the other two, guess my opinion is minority. Good times coming in Wakanda next week. Genuinely can’t wait. Still golden.

Matthew Periolat

I was taken off-guard when I originally saw this in theaters - mainly because of the humor and camp factor - which I think really works. I was learned in school - farce has to be based in truth so, with such established actors, camping it up, it totally works but they still deliver on action and thrills. Even Hel's lines were a camp-fest! Can't wait to see Nat react to Black Panther and then INFINITY WARS!!!! Been waiting so long to see what she thinks.

This_Jedi_crafts

Correct, the Thor's haircut was because he didn't want to keep wearing the wig

Cyle Harruff

I love The Boys. Karl Urban is such a badass in it. Also, that was Taika doing the voice of Korg the rock guy.

Joe Blankenship

This is probably one of my favs in the MCU. And def the best Thor movie. I can watch this one a lot.

Sleeping Awake

Seeing Hopkins play Loki playing Odin is a true highlight of the film. "Oh shit." 🤣

Opti_Frog

Love it!

Opti_Frog

The correct English plural is either “Pegasi” or “Pegasusses”. 😅

Opti_Frog

"that was a bit much"... The fact she didn't understand it was irony, that the play was making fun of last movie. Yikes

Timten

I do not get tired of watching this one over and over.

Robert Reichle

Waititi's good luck charm, she's actually in been in all of his movies. =)

Opti_Frog

THAT is going to be an interesting watch along! I am predicting Maximum Sass. :)

Dan Careaga

I can't say for sure that Ragnarok was never meant to be darker, but i don't think so. I know it originally came about because Hemsworth and Ruffalo wanted to do a movie toghether. And it's not like movies with what could be dark subject matters haven't been treated with levity before (just look at Waititi's What We Do In The Shadows). Ragnarok kind of has an 80s feel to it, and it's just not as common in post 9/11 cinema.

Opti_Frog

Oh and the The Immigrant Song is by Led Zeppelin. The first part starts: We come from the land of the ice and snow From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow The hammer of the gods Will drive our ships to new lands To fight the horde, sing and cry Valhalla, I am coming

Wyn Nyx

Just keep your "sassy" comment in mind when watching Endgame.

Wyn Nyx

I would love to have Jaimie Alexander come back in Thor Love and Thunder - she had a great character

Steven

I am here for the Natalie sass

Steven

Loved watching Ragnarok with you. Chris Hemsworth is the best when he gets to flex his comedy chops. Top tier MCU movie for me.

Opti_Frog

If you enjoyed Spider-Man: Homecoming, you should really check out Tim Burton’s Batman. Michael Keaton, who played the Vulture here, is a great Batman.

TheTerryGene

The sorcerers didnt do anything because the ancient one had seen the future up to her death. She said so herself - that she was able to see everything up to her death, but no farther. She knew they did not need to intervene (and should not), since these events lead up the avengers. And they were able to deal with it.

DaMarkiM

XD keep that thought about the sorcerers, you'll eventually get your answer.

I agree with your sentiment in movie making in general, but this is a case where I feel like "Immigrant Song" has been waiting for "Thor : Ragnarok" to come along because they fit together so well.

Thomas Yanez

The Director played the voice of Korg the rock guy and his accent is from New Zealand.

Jayson Phillips

Since Nat said she has already seen Season One and enjoyed it (well, at least enjoyed Urban's role) then I'd be cool with her just going straight to Season Two for reactions.

Thomas Yanez

If you like Karl Urban, you should watch Dredd. Just a heads up, it is quite violent. Cersei is in it too.

Paul C

Korg, the rock monster played by Taika Waititi himself, is one of the funniest characters in the movie, and introduces himself with a rock, paper, scissors joke when he first meets Thor. But there’s more. At the end of the film, we see that Korg has accidentally crushed his blade-armed alien gladiator friend, thinking he killed him. Though the alien wakes up, the joke there probably sailed over everyone’s head. Rock beat scissors. And if you want to go deeper than that, Korg explains to Thor how he tried to start a revolution but failed because he didn’t print enough pamphlets. Paper beat rock.

SplinterTME

I freaking love Ragnarok but I always disliked the heavy use of that song. I mean it's good but more and more movies these days just throw in some well known song instead of making a great original score to use in big scenes.

Danishprince

About the song, Taika Waititi basically used this song in a sizzle real he sent to Marvel, wanting to direct this film. He used this particular song in that very sizzle. They then went on to use it in the promotion and the trailers, so it was cool to see it used in the film. Also Korg was voiced by Waititi himself. He based the voice on Kiwi Bodyguards, that despite their rough looks, often would be having soft spoken voices. Love Korg!

Daniel Andersen

I think the boys are to morbid for Nathalie’s taste

The second I saw her I thought she looked like a modern version of young Lorraine McFly (Lea Thompson) from Back to the Future.

Wex

I believe it's also the case in the Marvel comics.

Bernice Summerfield

This was great! I always enjoy seeing this movie, and knew your reaction would be priceless. The pure joy at the Led Zeppelin song is worth the price of admission. I feel bad for the YouTubers who probably won't get to hear that for copyright reasons. =T (But that's on them!) And I don't think it's really a spoiler to confirm that yes, that was Thanos' ship in the end credit scene. I'm ambivalent about The Boys, mostly because, and I mean no offense whatsoever by this, the videos of things you've already seen have a very different feel to them, same as it would for anyone reacting to something they've already seen. A sort of "Oh yeah I remember this bit" vibe, which is fine, but it's of course different from surprise, shock and wonder, if that makes sense.

Troy B.

I love your reactions. Often I don't love the movie enough to watch the full reaction, but I cued up my copy of Ragnarok within 5 minutes of seeing you post it. I love this movie.

Stephen Ray

I think it's your side. I didn't experience any issue

Stephen Ray

To answer your question at the end.....doctor strange mentioned in the beginning of this movie that he made a list of people that are a threat and loki is one of them...thats why he did something this time lol.

Chuck

Yeah, Dredd should be on the shortlist of things she watches in the near future. I think she'd dig it, despite the violence.

THE LORE!!!

Thank you for this reaction! This was a fun movie to watch with you. You should put up a poll about The Boys and if you should do a reaction to it or not. Personally, I would love for you to do it. I'm sure there were parts that you missed during the first viewing anyway. And it's such a great show.

Donovan Sparks

Rewatching the Infinity Saga again with you has been great. You're so close to Infinity War and Endgame! Can't wait!

Steven Hok

Regarding where the other women were: Thor 2 was originally supposed to be directed by Patty Jenkins, and it was going to be a pretty different film. It also apparently didn't fit in with what Marvel wanted to do because she and Marvel parted ways over creative differences. Natalie Portman was upset over it. She still made the second Thor movie, but she didn't come back for Ragnarok. Jaime Alexander, who plays Lady Sif, was pretty badly injured on the set of the second Thor movie. That, and scheduling conflicts with her TV show Blindspot meant she couldn't film Ragnarok. Though part of me likes to think maybe she got hold of the script ahead of time and decided she'd have a scheduling conflict because she couldn't be instantly killed off like the Warriors Three if she wasn't in the movie.

Kevin Mowery

the boys reactions would be fun!!

codenamewitch xx

Plus based on a trend I've noticed while watching all of these up to this point, maybe 70% of the noticed plot holes where either set up earlier in the movie or get explained shortly after Nat notices them haha.

Ron K

Jesus I didn't even notice and I've watched both like a million times

Jonathon Ashcraft

It’s best not to think too much on plot holes in marvel films....the how’s and why’s don’t all make sense and you’ll go mad trying to get the pieces to fit.

Charlie Keeler

There's also a one off line from Wong in Dr Strange where he says something like whereas the avengers protect against physical threats sorcerers protect earth against mystical threats.

Ron K

you should see the Boys in this channel

Danny Flores

First time commenting.... definitely add Dredd to any and all themes that it would fit! Urban is great!

That was so much fun so happy you enjoyed it Nat , you did indeed get the song lyrics correct 🎶 the song was also used in school of rock but suits this movie perfectly. Just think hannibal to odin in a week 🙂 another magic marvel Monday cheers nat 💛 oh and definitely yes to THE BOYS

Ian

Literally watching this the morning after watching Natalie's reaction to Silence of the Lambs. It's such a trip seeing Hopkins' jump from Hannibal Lecter to Odin.

Andrew T

Is the audio sync a bit off or is that on my end?

Ken W

Sass away :)

Sam J

Wow, Natalie got sassy with us at the end.

Jon Hoover

Thank you for this great time! 😄 Especially when you started to stir, I thought you were ready to get up and dance 😆 Unfortunately we are getting dangerously close to the end 😱! But I can't wait to see the rest of your reactions haha I hope you will enjoy Black Panther too Otherwise I'm sure Koda could have played Fenris (the wolf), couldn't he? 😆 As always, be safe and stay golden! 💛

Calo Grsf

Only a couple months until the Loki tv show!

critikle

Karl Urban is such a great addition to any movie, but as a Xena fan, I'll always think of him with blonde hair and wings as Cupid back in the 90s.

Haughtbreaker Nic

Also if the Ancient One was looking through all possible future to make her plans (up to the point she dies in Dr. Strange) she may have thought letting the Avengers come together as a victorious team was better for the long term survival of the Earth. Loki getting taken back to Asguard helped Thor stop the Dark Elves in the Dark World and SHEILD/Hydra getting their hands on Loki's scepter led to the creation of Vision and the manifestation of Wanda's powers. The Ancient One must have looked at not only how events affected the present but the distant future as well. P.S. I know this is me adding meaning to things the writers probably didn't have planned but I think it does kind of fit with what the characters say about how things work.

Josh The Bard

This viewing was the first time I noticed that he's actually carrying them around for the entire movie. They kind of blend in to his armor most of the time.

Josh The Bard

I think most of the confusions have already been addressed by others. The only one I would add is that the reason Hulk stayed Hulk and could control himself better is that he was adored and celebrated on Sakaar, so he felt more comfortable being the Hulk. The main tension between Banner and Hulk is that Hulk resents Banner, feeling like Banner only uses him to fight battles he'd rather not because Banner isn't a fighter. On Sakaar, everyone loved him just as the Hulk, and no one was afraid of him like they were on Earth, so he was more at ease in his own skin, and didn't want Banner to resume control of their body. Banner was finally able to regain control when he was reminded of Natasha. Glad you enjoyed the film as much as you did!

Andy Jordan

People forget how smart Thor is because of how goofy he acts all the time but he and Jane bonded over him explaining Asgardian physics to her. He probably isn't very smart by Asgardian standards but he is over a thousand years old so it's kind of like a Highschool Student visiting Kindergarten. He might not be more intelligent, but he's had more time to learn things.

Josh The Bard

You didn't seem to recognize Hela so I'll mention that she was played by Cate Blanchett who you saw in Lord of the Rings as Galadriel.

acidnova

I also like that the humor grows naturally from Thor's already established traits. Thor has always teetered on the edge between Confident and Arrogant and a large part of his humor stems from him refusing to entertain the idea that he could fail. He also uses humor from the grief that's building as a result of loosing so many friends and family over a very short amount of time (relative to the 1,500 years he has been alive.)

Josh The Bard

Is it Pegasuses or Pegasusi ?? We may never know 😄 I think we need a Jeff Goldblum Poll next. Love that you set your lamp to Loki Green. Your reaction to this movie was a lot of fun Nat. Thank you 💛

Darryl Low

As well as the mo-cap. :-)

Andy Jordan

Natalie, what's an orgy???

Jon Hoover

Fun fact: the voice of Korg was Taika Waititi

It Hurt A Lot

In regards to the sorcerers not defending the Earth from the Chitauri( first avengers movie) Dr. Strange wasn't part of the sorcerers yet. Now that he is, he does care about the physical threats to Earth.

Inverse Voltage

I am definitely in the minority, but I absolutely hate this movie. I hate it because it's a parody of a super hero movie. The character of Thor was drastically altered from how he behaved in previous films and it makes no sense. This was the beginning of the end of the Marvel movies being good in my opinion.

Edward Olson

Natalie, the Point Break reference when Thor is in the Quinjet is a callback to Tony calling him that in Avengers. And Scourge had those guns at the beginning of the film; he talks about getting them from Texas and naming them “Des” and “Troy” ... for an obvious but fun joke.

Ian Forbes

Korg was Taika Waititi :)

Colt 1983

I definitely wouldn't mind you re-watching season 1, or just skipping to season 2. Season 2 was so fun and I'm looking for an excuse to re-watch it myself.

Fauxfox

In terms of "why didnt the sorcerers help out against the aliens" i think it's canon that they DID fight aliens. They just werent shown because they were in another area

Sebastian Syrinx

Regarding the lack of a Hulk movie, as @Ilsuk Yang mentioned, there were licensing issues that prevented Marvel from making a stand-alone MCU Hulk movie. But, Marvel got around that with this movie, because this is really a half-Thor/half-Hulk film. Hulk being gone from Earth (well, from the MCU since the end of "Age of Ultron"), the setting (the planet Sakaar with the wormholes dumping stuff onto the surface), the gladiatorial combat, Hulk being The Champion, and some of the new characters like Korg, are all from an epic Hulk comic book story-line called "Planet Hulk".

Thomas Yanez

Can't wait to watch this later (when the kid's put to bed) - this is the one I've been waiting for!

Pokerpope

Hooray! This is the movie I've been waiting for you to watch for a while. Haven't watched the reaction yet, but just wanted to touch on why Thor acts so differently than he did in the first Thor movie. Sure, it's to make him more appealing. But you also have to remember he's spent the majority of his time the past 10 years with humans on Earth (Midgard) rather than Asgardians. And humans are much more humorous and sarcastic than his people, so it would make sense his demeanor and personality would soften a little bit.

Jomero

Hey Nat! The reason we haven't seen a Hulk movie since "The Incredible Hulk" is because Disney does not own the rights to the character of the Hulk. He's owned by Universal Sutdios. They let Disney use the Hulk in other films (like the Avengers films and here in "Thor Ragnarok"), but they're not allowed to make a solo Hulk film anymore. Also, in the comics (and Norse mythology), Hela is actually Loki's daughter (so is the wolf, actually)!

Ilsuk Yang

sif was on another show.. natalie portman was upset over director choice in 2nd one and left franchise at this time..and valkary is bisexual i believe and that was her lover that died in the flashback if im not mistaken...and also just keep in my mind some of the the vague things they have you may have questions about may get answered in later movies

RJ Dough

In case of, Fake Thor in the play is played by Matt Damon, fake Loki by Luke Hemsworth, Chris Hemsworth's brother and Odin by Sam Neill, Alan Grant in Jurassic Park

Also forgot to mention, Rachel House who plays the Grandmaster’s right hand woman, is also in a few of Taika’s films, she’s so funny in everything. And you should watch Big Trouble In Little China (one of my personal favourites), he cited that film as inspiration for the tone of this one, big stakes but just a fun stupid fast paced adventure film.

Happy Marvel Monday! 😊 YES!!!! This is one of one's I've been waiting for. This is definitely my favorite of the "Thor" movies. Fun Fact: about 80% of this movie was improvised. Including one of the best scenes of the movie, the "Get Help" scene between Thor and Loki. That was all Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. LOL! You mentioned Lady Sif(who was Thor’s other friend). I think this was around the time that Loki, as Odin, had set her to Earth on a mission around this time. Tessa Thompson did a great job as Valkyrie. And Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster was so fantastic. For me the scenes with Hela didn't hold my attention too until the end when Thor returned to Asgard. The scenes with Thor, Loki, Hulk/Bruce, and Valkyrie on Sakaar were definitely the best parts of the movie. Another Fun Fact: Director Taika Waititi was the voice for Korg, another one of my favorite of the new characters that we met in this movie. Next up: the EXCELLENT "Black Panther"! This movie hits differently now since we've lost the great Chadwick Boseman. Have a great day! 😊 Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

You may also have fun watching the YouTube video “Team Thor” - theses were sketches that came out after Civil War to explain what Thor was up to during that movie

I have mixed feeling about this movie. It was clearly originally going to be a darker film, and while the comedy works great for the most part, it does clash against the original intentions of the script. So Thor's dad dies and he spends more time crying over his lost hammer. He loses an eye and it's treated like a paper cut. His best friends are killed and it's never mentioned by any other characters. That disconnect always bothered me.

It's finally here! Been waiting so long for you to get to Ragnarok--can't wait to watch.

Been looking forward to your reaction to this one, definitely in my top 5 of all the MCU films. Not sure if you mention it later in the video, but it was directed by Taika Waititi, which is why it’s so much funnier than the first two Thor films, and basically is a Waititi style film just with a huge budget! In the over-the-top re-enactment of Loki’s “death” from The Dark World that L’Odin is watching, Chris Hemsworth’s real life brother Luke is playing Thor, Matt Damon is playing Loki, and Sam Neill (fellow Kiwi who was in Waititi’s film Hunt For the Wilderpeople) is playing Odin. I’m not sure if you’ve said if you’ve watched many of Taika’s films, but you should definitely at some point do a run through of the Waititi-verse, all his films are absolute gold, and he’s only made 6 features so it’d be a quick run through, but definitely worth it!

It's funny that you keep comparing Loki and Hela cause in the Norse myths Loki was Hela's father

Love this movie the planet of Sakaar is just so unique has a very Mega City One vibe from the 2000AD comics retro Cyberpunk but alot more colourful while the armour worn looks like it was pulled straight from a 1980s comic book movie lol

Jedi Mandalore (Dylan)

Ragnarok came immediately before Black Panther.

Andy Jordan

Very excited to watch this, but what happened to Black Panther? If you're doing it in Timeline Order, it should have come already, no? Did I miss something?

Armchair Wizard

Ragnarok is essentially Armageddon in Nordic mythology.

I really like your hair and makeup in this one. If that was all you, you did a great job. You look so pretty. Looking forward to getting into the review.

Lucky Dragon ‘She.They’

A terrific MCU film, and one of the most highly anticipated for me up to this point, so very much looking forward. Cool fact: The line "He's a friend from work!", one of the most iconic lines, actually came from a Make-a-Wish kid who was visiting the set that day. When he met Chris Hemsworth and found out the scene they were filming involved Thor unexpectedly seeing the Hulk, the kid told Hemsworth: "You should say, 'He's a friend from work',". Hemsworth and Waititi loved the idea, so they did it and kept it in. Also, Chris' older brother Luke (of Westworld fame) plays the stage actor version of Thor, alongside Matt Damon and Sam Neill. Getting ready to cue up my copy with my drink and snack. Cheers, Nat!
