Hopefully Blade Runner 2049 sometime soon.

2021-04-30 22:43:28 +0000 UTCNostalgia plays a big part I think. I will always have a soft spot for it but if I saw it for the first time now I might feel the same. Would still recommend watching Blade Runner 2049 though.
kenneth radd
2021-04-16 14:30:55 +0000 UTCThe Prestige!
2021-04-14 20:47:24 +0000 UTCI feel like Blade Runner is the better movie, but The Martian would be WAY more fun to watch with you. I would be very excited to see your reactions to that film. It's so intense but in a really fun way :D
Cailey Jones
2021-04-13 21:27:39 +0000 UTCyay for Captain Blond Beard!!
Endling_king
2021-04-13 07:20:38 +0000 UTCI vote Gravity with Sandra Bullock
BoogieWoogie30
2021-04-13 03:43:40 +0000 UTCLooking at the votes, looks like no Blade Runner any time soon. But if you do eventually get around to it, Blade Runner: The Final Cut is the preferred version, the only one where director Ridley Scott finally had say over the finished product, and the most widely available now. It's on HBO Max.
Nicholas Sulikowski
2021-04-13 00:33:22 +0000 UTCBlade Runner is way better than the Martian, but alas, I am just one vote.
Christopher French
2021-04-13 00:21:44 +0000 UTCInterstellar is soo good and emotional. I f it doesn't win the vote , I hope you will still watch it
Hubbs30
2021-04-12 13:22:09 +0000 UTCAnd the soundtrack for Interstellar is amazing, too.
Pendrew
2021-04-12 11:22:37 +0000 UTCaw shit.....that's right. There's like half a dozen different versions.
Ortizmo2000
2021-04-12 02:39:58 +0000 UTCBlade Runner, theatrical version
Jay Robert
2021-04-11 23:30:15 +0000 UTCBoth The Martian and Interstellar are fantastic, though Interstellar is my personal favorite.
Matthew Duley
2021-04-11 22:57:25 +0000 UTCAny chance for War of the Worlds (2005)?
2021-04-11 20:42:02 +0000 UTCThe Martian is fantastic. Blade Runner is a classic.
Ortizmo2000
2021-04-11 20:19:28 +0000 UTCAlso really happy to see interstellar and bladerunner here, but the martians gonna be my first choice!
DaMarkiM
2021-04-11 18:13:34 +0000 UTCThe Martian, yesss! My favorite and one of the only hard science movies of our age!!
DaMarkiM
2021-04-11 18:12:49 +0000 UTCYour Name might be my favourite film of all time.
Opti_Frog
2021-04-11 15:01:47 +0000 UTCBlade Runner and The Martian for sureskissss!!!!!! Both are so good :D
Malakai Swiger
2021-04-11 14:48:49 +0000 UTCThis 100%. It's a movie she'll love and it's a fun movie for a watch along.
Tay Schumaker
2021-04-11 14:14:04 +0000 UTC50 years from now something in the Mars Colony will probably be named after Mark Watney (like a ship in the Expanse novels is named after him), like a place, landmark or procedure in hydroponics :)
Ulrich Unterbrunner
2021-04-11 11:27:48 +0000 UTCYou ahould try some day an anime movie. Here 4 suggestions for a poll: - Silent Voice - Your Name - Wolf Children - The Boy and the Beast PE: i havnt included any ghibli movies here because i think that is a category on its own and you should watch every movie they made.
oscar latorre
2021-04-11 11:26:56 +0000 UTC50 years from now you will be hard pressed to find anyone that remembers The Martian. Not that it's a bad movie but it's nothing special. I watched it once and never had any desire to see it again. Bladerunner on the otherhand is a top 5 sci-fi of all times pick. People will still be watching and talking about it when my bones have turned to dust.
Todd Bradford
2021-04-11 04:42:30 +0000 UTCReally? All movies are subjective. Also, Bladerunner became a cult classic after being a financial box office failure. The Martian was a huge smash hit, popular with the mainstream audience and critics, so it makes sense more people would vote for it. Again, these movies are all subjective, so I don't understand getting "sick" and wanting to "throw up" because other people don't share your same opinion on some movies.
David Crabtree
2021-04-11 04:14:25 +0000 UTCHow the hell did all of y'all pick The Martian over Interstellar??? Seriously! That legit makes me sick. I'm gonna go throw up now.
Jenny Tolls
2021-04-11 03:56:17 +0000 UTCLook like it's gonna be The Martian. Hope ya like Disco!
Texas Anla'Shok
2021-04-11 01:59:10 +0000 UTCYes to both of these!! Hidden Figures would have been great for Black History Month, but it's fantastic no matter when you watch it. And Apollo 13 is a masterclass on how to make a contemporary space movie. A story made even more riveting by the fact that it's true.
John
2021-04-11 00:42:21 +0000 UTCNormally I would have voted for Bladerunner, as it's just an amazing film. From the cinematography, lighting and effects to the plot and acting, it's all top notch. But I had to vote for The Martian because I was just thinking yesterday that I hoped you would watch it. It's just such a feel-good film, which is rare for Ridley Scott. :)
Sam Kimpton
2021-04-11 00:06:03 +0000 UTCThe Abyss would be a great one. I never come across any reactions to it. It, along with The Terminator, are actually what made me a cinephile from a very young age. I always said as a kid when I grew up I wanted to direct Terminator three LOL
Jai Nelson
2021-04-11 00:02:15 +0000 UTCI can't believe for once the movie I clicked is in the lead. The Martian is such a fun time.
TamaMetalPuppet
2021-04-10 23:41:24 +0000 UTCAll are good movies here and I think Nat would probably enjoy The Martian the best because of the added humor and directed by Ridley Scott. Here are my suggestions for sci-fi reactions in the future: Tron The Terminator Robocop The Abyss Total Recall (1990) The Lawnmower Man Stargate Virtuosity 12 Monkeys The Arrival
Justin S.
2021-04-10 23:38:37 +0000 UTCblade runner 2049 though....
Thomas Malley
2021-04-10 23:19:25 +0000 UTCalso the sequel is the best damn sequel of all time.
Thomas Malley
2021-04-10 23:19:08 +0000 UTCE.T. is a straight up classic.
Thomas Malley
2021-04-10 23:18:32 +0000 UTCRegardless of which wins both kinda work. Blade Runner allows for more of a continuation into sci-fi and Martian is lighter fair as break after Interstellar.
Kelvin
2021-04-10 23:09:38 +0000 UTC"Best" is subjective to each of our own personal opinions.
David Crabtree
2021-04-10 22:57:44 +0000 UTCDepressing, yes. However you could not be more wrong about the main characters not doing anything that matters. Its kind of the entire point of the movie...
Robjgood
2021-04-10 22:55:54 +0000 UTCIntersteller is depressing AF. It starts depressing, has a depressing middle, and has a depressing end, and nothing the main characters do actually matters. I don't understand why people like it.
2021-04-10 22:42:33 +0000 UTCInterstellar would have been my first choice, but since you've already seen it I gotta go with The Martian.
Niklas
2021-04-10 22:20:18 +0000 UTCBladerunner is overrated without the nostalgia factor. The correct film is winning.
Nerd Going Outside
2021-04-10 22:09:42 +0000 UTCI suspect those three films appeal to two or three different audiences :)
Amos T Fairchild
2021-04-10 21:44:06 +0000 UTCThere’s a handful of movies that I have never understood the hype for. I know I’m in the major minority but I can’t understand the appeal of Bladerunner (original and the new) Snow Piercer and Mad Max Fury Road. I live for movies, but I found all 3 of these to be a chore to watch. Couldn’t have less interest in seeing any of them again.
Cole Jennett
2021-04-10 21:38:15 +0000 UTCI think The Martian will win this poll, but I hope Blade Runner gets a second chance, Nat said she wants to watch award winning movies, this fits as an iconic movie.
RebRox65
2021-04-10 21:33:37 +0000 UTCYes ? What's your problem ?
Rime Pendragon
2021-04-10 21:22:23 +0000 UTCToo many comments to scroll through right now, so not sure if someone has said it already, but if you watch The Martian, make sure you rent the EXTENDED cut from Amazon. It is a much closer representation of the book than the theatrical cut. I also found that you really do feel the time pass with Mark, it is tangible.
JediLounger
2021-04-10 21:05:23 +0000 UTCI agree with everything you said, including A.I. and Ex Machina. Loved both.
Armchair Wizard
2021-04-10 20:51:36 +0000 UTCI would enjoy seeing an adaption of the original book, which s excellent. One of two films that got me to read their source material. The second being Dune.
Bruce Bromley
2021-04-10 20:20:39 +0000 UTCNat, watch E.T. Essential viewing.
Scott Greene
2021-04-10 20:13:22 +0000 UTCWhile i admit that Blade Runner is a well crafted film, and a visual feast, i have three reasons not to vote for it (in this particular poll). 1. I'm not a fan of noir, and Blade Runner probably owes more to Mickey Spillane than Philip K. Dick for it's atmosphere and characters. 2. I think the themes tackled in Blade Runner has been done better in other films such as Ex Machina, Moon and (some of you will call me crazy) A.I. Artificial Intelligence. Granted, the first two points are simply about my personal preference. But: 3. I think Nat will enjoy The Martian more than Blade Runner.
Opti_Frog
2021-04-10 20:05:06 +0000 UTCI'd like to suggest that when you watch The Martian, whether it wins this poll or later on, that you also watch the extras on the dvd. Most are in-universe (like in-character interviews with characters), and the rest you'll appreciate as someone who's been in the film industry. If you're iffy, just keep that in mind in case you love the movie enough to buy it.
Mike Slosson
2021-04-10 20:04:01 +0000 UTCSource Code? Is that the one with Jake Gyllenhaal? I totally forgot about that movie it was a wild ride. Definitely a good recommendation for the future.
Jonathan Deguire
2021-04-10 19:57:24 +0000 UTCIt's all subjective, but I'm really hoping for the Martain. The Martain in one of my all time favourite movies and Matt Damon on my favourite male actor. I've seen Bladerunner a few times never cared for it. It's not a bad movie but I'd rather watch anything else.
Jonathan Deguire
2021-04-10 19:53:15 +0000 UTCBlade Runner is a top 5 all-time movie for me and it’s recent sequel is amazing. But I think the Martian is a better pick here.
Max du Coudray
2021-04-10 19:45:21 +0000 UTCIf I could recommend one for the future, "Source Code" was a surprisingly great movie. It always keeps you guessing and was fascinating throughout.
Robert Flores
2021-04-10 19:40:10 +0000 UTCWell said, I still voted for Bladerunner.
Garrick Smalley
2021-04-10 19:38:52 +0000 UTCFor those wondering "why is Bladerunner losing the vote", it's really simple. While Bladerunner has become a cult classic over the past few decades, it was a financial box office failure when it came out. It's popular in smaller circles with diehard movie and sci-fi fans, but it's never been very big in the mainstream zeitgeist. A movie such as a Martian, was a huge financial and critical hit, was very popular with the mainstream audience, and it's only been like 6 years since it's release
David Crabtree
2021-04-10 19:33:45 +0000 UTCApollo 13 is great space movie that is also true story - also think Hidden Figures is another great story too both are NASA related movies
JarHead0351
2021-04-10 19:33:20 +0000 UTCYou should definitely watch ‘Moon’ at some point, if you haven’t already seen it. Great sci-fi movie with Sam Rockwell.
Danny Miller
2021-04-10 19:30:11 +0000 UTCReally pulling for The Martian, one of my favorite sci-fi films, and probably one of my favorite films of the past decade. E.T. would be fun as well. Gotta be honest, I know it's a cult classic, but I don't really care for Bladerunner. I've seen it a couple times, but I just have never enjoyed watching it. And Interstellar is such a slog to get through. But it's all subjective.
David Crabtree
2021-04-10 19:23:52 +0000 UTCNot to be that guy, but technically the original version of Bladerunner influenced sci-fi, not any subsequent version.
sheriffjt
2021-04-10 19:09:04 +0000 UTCIf Interstellar has already been seen, then we join Matt Damon on Mars instead on Mann's Planet. Also read the book by Andy Weir. It is great!
Ulrich Unterbrunner
2021-04-10 18:36:24 +0000 UTCBladerunner: The Final Cut! It heavily influenced sci-fi as we know it today and was based on the book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" It and Bladerunner: 2049 are excellent philosophical ponderings on life and artificial intelligence.
A Vicarious View
2021-04-10 18:32:43 +0000 UTCMartian is OK. But Bladerunner is a classic that everyone should watch.
2021-04-10 18:31:07 +0000 UTC"The Final Cut" is the version you want to watch. "The Director's Cut" is actually the studio's cut, and "The Final Cut" is actually the director's cut.
Muir Lyman
2021-04-10 18:29:37 +0000 UTCBlade Runner for the win please
Gary Poussard
2021-04-10 18:20:38 +0000 UTCI watched bladerunner: the final cut and ill have to be honest, i did not enjoy it at all. I don’t understand the hype and i found myself increasingly bored throughout the movie. Am i missing something?
ISeeTrees ofGreen
2021-04-10 18:17:56 +0000 UTCInterstellar is good, but overrated like most Nolan films, except The Prestige and Memento.
Opti_Frog
2021-04-10 18:17:25 +0000 UTCInterstellar is a great movie, but The Martian is right up your alley, you will love it.
Jason
2021-04-10 18:16:12 +0000 UTCI can't believe Blade Runner is losing the vote again! You've definitely got to get round to it sometime, but as others have said try to get the Director's Cut or Final Cut version. The sequel, Blade Runner 2049 isn't bad either, but the original is an absolute classic and should really be regarded as a standalone.
James Leighton
2021-04-10 18:15:16 +0000 UTCThe Martian is trash compared to Interstellar
Joel
2021-04-10 18:14:27 +0000 UTCReally hope we get the Martian. That film is very underappreciated and an empathetic reactor like Nat should hopefully really vibe with it. Blade runner is a classic but it’s hardly an emotional character piece. More conceptual and groundbreaking
George Baxter
2021-04-10 18:13:33 +0000 UTCBladerunner is a classic that spawned the entire cyberpunk movement. Do the director's cut, though!
Jonathan Reece
2021-04-10 18:07:28 +0000 UTCAll great choices, I am down for any of these, anytime. I hope you get to all of them eventually.
Dan Careaga
2021-04-10 18:06:00 +0000 UTCFreaking REALLY: The Fkn Martian over GD Bladerunner.......? Eugh.
2021-04-10 17:50:36 +0000 UTCBecause I watched it on a plane completely exhausted
Natalie Gold
2021-04-10 17:33:41 +0000 UTCNewer, shinier, more middle of the road.
Ken
2021-04-10 17:32:46 +0000 UTCHow can she not remember interstellar 😑
Anouar
2021-04-10 17:27:21 +0000 UTCDamn it, can Bladerunner finally win. Nat will love the noir vibe. The Martian is great, but wow Bladerunner is a masterpiece.
Jai Nelson
2021-04-10 17:22:11 +0000 UTCIf you do Bladerunner, you will have to follow it up with Bladerunner 2049.
Paul C
2021-04-10 17:18:27 +0000 UTCLove, love, love The Martian 👽 and the book
Amanda Sargent
2021-04-10 17:16:10 +0000 UTCBlade Runner (The Final Cut)
REDR58
2021-04-10 17:14:05 +0000 UTCThese are both excellent recommendations
kenneth radd
2021-04-10 17:10:10 +0000 UTCHow about an entire movie series on Saving Matt Damon? You've already done Saving Private Ryan. Courage Under Fire (1996) Saving Private Ryan (1998) Titan A.E. (2000) Syriana (2005) Green Zone (2010) Elysium (2013) Interstellar (2014) The Martian (2015)
John
2021-04-10 17:09:35 +0000 UTCShe did. That's why we're not voting for Interstellar, either.
Eric Janssen
2021-04-10 17:07:58 +0000 UTCYes, that one escaped Millennial 80's notice, for coming in the 70's (and thus being an "old pre-1982 movie"), and I've only seen one or two reactions to it. If Jaws and The Exorcist taught you anything, it's that 70's movies will always take you by surprise. :)
Eric Janssen
2021-04-10 17:06:58 +0000 UTCBlade Runner's got one of the most iconic speeches in the history of sci-fi.
Troy B.
2021-04-10 17:06:55 +0000 UTCI'd love to see Ex Machina or GATTACA on one of these lists!
Dan
2021-04-10 17:06:49 +0000 UTCSound like you one vote could lead to 2 reactions
Ben Gilshenan
2021-04-10 17:01:01 +0000 UTCVery good point. I forgot about that.
2021-04-10 16:51:22 +0000 UTCRewatch old reactions?
2021-04-10 16:50:12 +0000 UTCThe Martian- yet another one I'll be skipping. What do you do when you find a great reaction channel but can't stand half of the poll results?
Robert Reichle
2021-04-10 16:45:55 +0000 UTCVoted for The Martian, but all 4 are great choices. However, if we are going to jump in the wayback machine and have to choose, I would always suggest Close Encounters of the Third Kind over ET.
Erik Larson
2021-04-10 16:44:05 +0000 UTCI also very much want you to (eventually) see Blade Runner. But I picked The Martian because I think you'll really enjoy it and it will be a great reaction!
FandomReferenceHere
2021-04-10 16:40:21 +0000 UTCMartian is a wonderful film, but not that reaction-worthy IMHO. Bladerunner would be a much better film to react to.
tezster
2021-04-10 16:39:36 +0000 UTCBlade runner is my fav of the 4 but I believe the Martian will make the best pick for a Nat reaction plus its a great film also
Ian
2021-04-10 16:39:26 +0000 UTCWait, how can't it be E.T. ? THE Classic of the Classics ? You have to see at least once in your life !!
Julien Grenier
2021-04-10 16:38:20 +0000 UTCLoved The Martian. Has anyone read the book? I hear the author wrote it by repeatedly devising a problem and then researching how it could scientifically be solved. I only know of two scientific inaccuracies.
Wex
2021-04-10 16:36:50 +0000 UTCBlade runner is good but then you have to watch Blade runner 2049 because it's incredible! My vote is for The Martian.
Lisa Tosti
2021-04-10 16:36:44 +0000 UTCBlade runner is a iconic sci-fi flick, if not this time (because it looks like we have to rescue Matt Damon again) then I recommend it soon and it's sequel
Eric V. Grey
2021-04-10 16:35:29 +0000 UTCHands down, Blade runner! Love all the others but if you haven't seen Blade Runner, you've really missed out!
Dale Josephson
2021-04-10 16:34:46 +0000 UTCTough choice for me between Interstellar and The Martian, but gonna have to go with The Martian. It’s too good!
Steven Hok
2021-04-10 16:34:45 +0000 UTCI'm picking Blade Runner, but mostly because I want her to eventually watch 2049
2021-04-10 16:33:29 +0000 UTCI agree. I know it was nominated for best picture and best actor at the Oscars, along with a few other categories. But it didn't land anything. I can't even remember what won it that year
It Hurt A Lot
2021-04-10 16:32:02 +0000 UTCYeah, I prefer Blade Runner, but it's really a movie you want to talk with people about. It's not "fun" in the traditional sense. You really need to make sure you watch the right version of it as well. The Martian is a great movie and I think you'll probably enjoy it more.
Keith Jones
2021-04-10 16:29:54 +0000 UTCIt has to be Blade Runner: The Director's Cut in HD...it has to be.
Josh Emmanuel
2021-04-10 16:29:04 +0000 UTCMan i'd love to see an Interstellar reaction but I do kinda agree with everyone else saying I think you'd really really enjoy the martian, its a great film.
The Recovery
2021-04-10 16:28:56 +0000 UTCThis is a no brainier for me, BLADE RUNNER - Directors cut, simply one the best Sci-fi movies ever directed by The Great Ridley Scott, music by Vangelis and Starring Harrison Ford in probably one of the most realistic probability of our future. The Martian is a great movie but it not a masterpiece like Blade Runner is was made in 1985 and is still talked about as a benchmark movie, and I’d like a new generation to discover is greatness for the first audience.
RebRox65
2021-04-10 16:28:12 +0000 UTCHow is The Martian beating Bladerunner?
Casey Walker
2021-04-10 16:28:11 +0000 UTCOy I consistently pick the #2 choice
Ben Wheeler
2021-04-10 16:26:32 +0000 UTCahhh normally id pick Blade Runner, but I think you'll enjoy The Martian more. I think it deserved more love when it came out.
Vincent Valentin
2021-04-10 16:19:32 +0000 UTCAbsolutely!
Logan Kerlee
2021-04-10 16:19:12 +0000 UTCGATTACA was fantastic, for sure. That movie's heavy on the political vibe, though I feel. It isn't for everyone.
Logan Kerlee
2021-04-10 16:18:36 +0000 UTCI think Arrival was on another list of hers and she’s seen it. Fantastic film though. You should read the short story it’s based on.
Andrew Woods
2021-04-10 16:18:30 +0000 UTCYou will LOVE The Martian. Therefore it gets my vote.
David of the North
2021-04-10 16:18:06 +0000 UTCImpossible to choose! Blade Runner is one of my absolute favorites, but so is Interstellar! And the Martian is just great fun and quite unique. So the choice, really, is easy: you just have to watch them all!
Holger Dewes
2021-04-10 16:17:08 +0000 UTCI agree the Martian is a good choice. But I like all of these, so its hard to leave something out. It would be nice to watch all four. But another Sci-fi that I think Nat would enjoy is Arrival, with Amy Adams. Transcendant performance by Amy, the problem to be overcome doesn't relate to battling an enemy, and intriguing structuring of the story line. With a nice emotional resonance. But all of these movies have a good thoughtfulness to them.
Geoffrey Cahoon
2021-04-10 16:16:28 +0000 UTCI second this, and I would add that Blade Runner 2049 is such a better experience for a modern audience that I have to consider it the better movie. Unfortunately it requires the first one for context.
Balmung
2021-04-10 16:16:21 +0000 UTCET is a wonderful family classic. The Martian is a great movie.
Michael Rhine
2021-04-10 16:15:01 +0000 UTCBlade runner is really a masterpiece of its time (my time) but I think is one of those that became to slow for modern audiences... I wouldn't watch it again, I guess. But for cinema aficionados, for sure it's a must watch...
Valar Dohaeris
2021-04-10 16:14:34 +0000 UTCThe Martian for sure. One of the best movies out there. I don't know that I'd consider it true sci-fi. I mean, yes, it takes place on Mars, but could also be set on a deserted island, a la Castaway. Regardless, it's fantastic.
Arki Kali
2021-04-10 16:13:46 +0000 UTCThe Martian: first Hobbit on Mars.
Luis Torrefranca
2021-04-10 16:13:35 +0000 UTCIf Bladerunner doesn’t win, you definitely have to get around to it soon

2021-04-10 16:11:32 +0000 UTCThe Martian is such a good fit for you and it's not one I've seen a ton of reactions to already so I'd really be looking forward to seeing your reaction to it.

2021-04-10 16:11:04 +0000 UTCI hate to be THAT voter, but these are all ok, but you should check out GATTACA. Sci-fi Drama. Really good. Maybe you do another list with gattaca, time traveler's wife, Moon and Sliding Doors. Subtle Sci-fi.
2021-04-10 16:10:53 +0000 UTCSorry Blade Runner fans, The Martian is on the poll. It's too good

2021-04-10 16:10:21 +0000 UTCI have to put my support in for E.T., that movie is such a big part of my childhood.

2021-04-10 16:08:57 +0000 UTCBlade Runner is the most important and influential of these, and one of my personal favorites, so my vote goes there, although they're all terrific. If Blade Runner wins, do let us know which version you're watching because there're about a thousand different versions (Theatrical Cut, Director's Cut, Final Cut, etc.). I'm a Final Cut man myself, but that's just one person's opinion, and I respect others', as well. I wouldn't mind E.T. winning either, though, 'cause that's my sentimental favorite. It was my favorite movie when I was a kid.

2021-04-10 16:08:57 +0000 UTCYeah, the fact that both are Ridley Scott films is great. Should push for Legend next. It was his next film after Alien was made. He wanted to do a fantasy film to sort of reset after Alien.

2021-04-10 16:08:08 +0000 UTCNattie's in a sci-fi mood. Making up for lost time he he Ridley Scott for the win. Wishing for Blade Runner, but will settle for The Martian. Both amazing movies you will enjoy, and can't wait to watch along with you. Have a great weekend Nat 💛

2021-04-10 16:04:59 +0000 UTCI picked Blade Runner but only because I want you to get to Blade Runner 2049. I think you'll really enjoy the Martian. Great film.
