You keep making rush judgements about characters, how much you like them and call them good/great men, but so far all the ones I recall you praising are horrible people, including the newest Lord Bolton... Pushing Bran out the window was a horrible act of evil, but your problem is how he talks to people. Imagine being him, being hated and judged for 17 year for killing the mad king, the same mad king that more than half the kingdoms where fighting to overthrow (aka kill) in the first place, led by Robert and Ned! What person dealing with that open disdain from everyone acting like they are better than the man who did what they were all trying to do, would not reply by talking shit to everyone? Tywin's only insufferable child is Cersi, she is the only one of the 3 I do not nor will I ever feel sorry for. I will never feel anything for that evil vile bi*** but pure hatred!

Lucile Byrd

Being married away for political reasons and succession is the entire purpose of having children during these times. They are being treated exactly like anyone else in the kingdom, you can't bring in 21st century views and values into a show that takes early-late medieval period as inspiration, of course it seems foul and wrong now, but this was the norm back then. In 100-200 years or more we will surely look down on a lot of things we do/say/act today and think us barbaric eventually.

Linus Marjeta

I had the opposite reaction to Tywin telling Cersei to marry Loras tyrell that you did. lol After she was laughing at Tyrion for getting hooked up with Sansa I thought it was hilarious that she got told to marry Loras lol

Michael Short

"A honorable guy" Oh god...

Yuri Reis

"Lord Bolton is a good guy" 😬

Andrew Clifton

Thoros of Myr has been mentioned a couple of times in the show. Jamie and Ned's right hand guy mentioned him and his flaming sword when they were talking about the war they were both in (in season 1 in the scene when Ned's guy has a message for Robert, who has female company) and Jamie is on guard duty outside), and Barristan and Jorah also talk about him and his sword in another season 3 episode that is already up on Patreon. In the books Thoros was also at the Tourney in Season 1. In the book the tourney was a much bigger deal, with loads of competitions, and Thoros was part of a mass melee and it's mentioned that he coated his sword in Wildfire to make it burn.

Felix Bergman

So Littlefinger definitely lives until season 7 at least? Careful with the unintentional spoilers there...

Paul King

I think the Littlefinger character has a fake voice on purpose. He's cultivated it so long it's almost a real one. It's one of his masks. There's a moment in Season 7 when you here Littlefinger's true voice. You'll know it when you see it.

Paul King

I hope we can get her to watch the Red Nose Day Coldplay musical and the R + L videos when the time is right.

I have HBO as an add on to my Amazon Prime, which also lets me sign onto HBO max website, and I agree, it is complete garbage. Even browsing and searching for things is awkward and slow. Streaming seemed okay once I got a movie started, but any changes or adjustments seemed so slow. I haven't bothered to use it again, even though there are things there that I can't access on Amazon HBO add on. I never have any problems watching with Nat using the HBO on Amazon Prime.

KnittingHaven

natalie i would recommend watching some youtube videos that talk about the history before the show. I would recomend anything on roberts rebelion and aegons conquest the both very intresting, but be careful with roberts rebelion as it could contain spoilers i can link you one if you wish

Ben Gilshenan

yeah jamies personality is like bruce wanyes/batman deep down he is a good person but everyone thinks things of him so he just empraces them in public but in quiet moments he becomes who he truly is

Ben Gilshenan

I also grew up Catholic so once you brought up Catholicism I was like YUPP

HBO, has incredible content. But can we all agree that HBO max is garbage as a streaming service? I can watch stuff in Hulu, Netflix, Amazon with no prob. But when I want to watch thrones with Natalie I have to keep pausing and playing so HBO max can catch up. And I pay for top tier wifi. It’s infuriating

Nat's face when Beric produced his flaming sword was too good πŸ˜†

Opti_Frog

I can't tell if Beric is a ginger, but he has been kissed by fire in a way, and Thoros is a drunk, so it checks out.

"Just drink the freakin' puppy drink" - Natalie Gold

Dani

Quick question: if the Bortherhood Without Banners were in fact the Band of Brothers, would be Beric Dondarrion be Winters and Thoros Nixon?

sheriffjt

I feel horribly for any child named 'Khaleesi', given the actual context of the name.

Flukemarm

An easy way to empathize with Jaime is to imagine yourself being the subject of nationwide trolling and media attention for 17 years. Then imagine being a nice person after that.

Flukemarm

I agree that when we see Jamie from the beginning of the show until this point, the way he talked, the way he held himself, and they way he regarded others was horrible and he came across as a huge douchebag and horrid man. But what I took away from his monologue this episode is that his β€œattitude” is a defense mechanism because the second he killed his King everyone, including Ned Stark, assumed he was a despicable person. Maybe Jamie was always despicable but I personally think he was a lot more tolerable, maybe even nice, until he killed the Mad King and the world judged him for it

My Toasty Toast

"What rumors are there about Cersei" I can't believe you forgot the whole plot of Season 1 xD

Balkyne

The thing about Jaime is that he puts on that act of being a massive dick because everyone judged him immediately for killing the king and breaking his oath that he decided to just play that role and act like everyone expected him to act. Not that that excuses his behaviour but it explains a lot. No matter how he acted everyone would hate him because of killing the king.

Nick

He still tried to kill a 10 year old boy...His pros don't outweigh his cons so far.

Joseph

You can conduct in 3/4 with the triangle or you can do it in 2. ONE-two-three. TWO-two-three. Like 6/8 time.

Joe Blankenship

this is easily one of the best episodes in the series

Alex

Jaime becomes one of the more sympathetic characters to me - one of the reasons the show is so brilliant. He's humbled and faces some truth about himself. He isn't redeemed but I feel for him.

Paul King

I have to laugh because this was the first episode I ever watched of the show and I didn't like it so I didn't watch another until season 5. I kept hearing the buzz about this show and when I happened across this episode I decided to check it out but I tuned in right in the middle of Ser Loras' sex scene lol. Not to sound homophobic, I didn't care that it was a gay scene but I just assumed the buzz was just because of gratuitous sex, so I didn't watch anymore. That was until I just happened to watch a certain awesome episode in season 5 that immediately hooked me. I bought the first four seasons on DVD a few days later.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

I certainly hope that as you edit this video, you remember the rumor about Circe. Specifically the one Tywin is trying to squash by marrying her off.

The Golgothan

Re: blood and fire "What kind of blood...?!" Moonshine may have contributed to this. Lots and lots of moonshine.

Luis Torrefranca

Great reaction Nat πŸ’› been waiting for you to be introduced to the wonderful daughter of stannis ' shireen' she's great love her

Ian

The Lord of Light is unique in GoT is that it's the only religion that seems to have actual real juice behind it. And whatever it is, it has a plan. Their whole "the night is dark and full of terrors" has a more literal interpretation.

Matthew King

The way Davos looks at Shreen when she starts reading to him. So much love in those eyes. I love these little moments so much!

mike

Thank you for your reaction 😁, I love your intro, every time you said you won't talk for long, you end up doing it πŸ˜†, personally I think it represents you well haha I hope you're doing well (I keep my fingers crossed that your allergies don't bother you too much 🀞), take care, be safe and stay golden! πŸ’›

Calo Grsf

Wow, this episode is so rich in payoffs later on in future episodes. Mark this one and remember.

Tranquil_Gnome

I think the way Jaime talks to people stems from the whole mad king story he told in this episode. He did the morally right thing and since then everyone has cursed him and called him Kingslayer and talked about his lack of honor and ridiculed him. Doing the right thing is what made people hate him. So now he gives them a real reason to dislike him. And I completely believe what he said about Ned. With as much emphasis as Ned put on "honor" there is no way he wouldn't have judged Jaime the moment he saw the mad king dead on the ground. He would have never empathized with Jaime. This isn't to say Jaime's a good guy. He's done a lot of bad things, but I think he is by far the most complex character in the show.

Derik Knutson

the parallel between Jaimie and Ser Barristan in this episode is cool. Ser Barristan kept his oath by doing nothing as the Mad King burned people alive and is revered as one of the greatest knights of history. Jaimie broke his oath and stopped the mad king from burning the city and is loathed for it. I think this is why Jaimie behaves the way he does. there's no point in being a good person because what is 'good' is so muddled by these crazy oaths in this world.

mike

So happy. Wasn't expecting a new episode until Wednesday. Glad you are knocking these out so fast. I watch along during my lunch break.

Matt Gwinn

Don't worry about shortening your intros! <3 your take on all the things you watch, and we're here to hear what YOU gotta say about these shows and movies we love, so don't fret, and talk your heart out! xD

SmokeAndACoffee

Fun show today. Thanks, Natalie! While the show was running, over 700 people named their children Khaleesi or Daenaeys, so they must have loved her as well. Daddy issues, indeed. You should feel bad for Tywin's children. You hate Jaime, but when you look at all of his bluster and attitude, he's just trying to please a father who cannot be pleased. He could not have explained his actions to Ned or anyone else when he slayed the Mad King because his father would have been angry. The lion does not explain himself to the wolf. Tyrion cries out for a crumb of devotion from his father. His father hates him to his face, yet he keeps trying. Some sons would have given up by now. Cersei is as spoiled as any child could possibly be, and just like Tywin considers herself above and better than everyone else. Finally you have Cersei's children. She doted on Joffrey from a young age, teaching him to be above everyone. Once he had a crown he considered himself above even her. What about Myrcella and Tommen, her younger children? She loved them, but gave most of her time and devotion to her future king, and left more of their rearing to servants and maids, who taught them more gently. Through all of this, however, you've got to admit that the 4 actors, Charles Dance, Lena Heady, Peter Dinklage and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau are friggin amazing in these roles!

Alan Kobb

"What the fuck is she doin' up in here?" Omg I couldn't stop laughing. That was too funny.

Will Whiton

Jaime's been going through some shit, literally. Nattie, you're so cruel 😊 He did have a great scene where he recounted his past though. A lot of interested pieces being put into place in this episode. Thanks for a fun video Nat πŸ’›

Darryl Low

I think after jamie's scene in the bath with brienne it would be worth going back over a few scenes, jamie's fight with ned when ned was stabbed in the leg, later when he was a prisoner and had the talk with catlyn, recall the things he said about " all those oathes" then considering the fact that for 20 years since he killed the mad king, basically his entire adult life he been called oath breaker, king slayer and so on for essentially saving the city, something like that would easily make him the way he is now. I think that is one of the reasons he has respect for brienne although he's bad at showing it.

Bubba Fett

Remember how Tywin said that Cersei isn't as clever as she thinks she is? Well, that was definitely proven in the final scene of this episode! She didn't see it coming at all! Wiped that smirk right off her face!

Ilsuk Yang

Downloading this right now to watch tonight. We're at the halfway point for this season. So far, this has been my favorite season of GoT. Looking forward to watching this reaction this evening. Have a great day today! 😊 Until the next video, Stay Golden! πŸ’›

"I'm gonna make these intros shorter..." [Five minutes later...] I have no room to talk, I do the same thing when emailing friends: "This is just gonna be a brief email..." [five paragraphs later...]

Jaime became 10x more interesting in this episode
