FIRST TIME WATCHING: GOT S4E8!!

Hey friends!

Here is my reaction to the next episode of Game of Thrones! Boy was I shocked at the end.

Just a heads up, I'll only be posting two episodes this week and next week. Since we're so far ahead of the YouTube channel and since there's only 4 episodes of this season left, I felt like it would be better to keep it even and start Season 5 on it's own week.

The intro starts at 7:12 for those who skip the recap.

As always, thanks so much for your support here on Patreon and until the next one, ✨stay golden!✨

I mean, think of it this way. If you had been in a relationship for 5 years with a person, and found out they cheated on you the first year, would you then forgive them just because it was "a long time ago" and now they "love you"? I don't think, and I don't hope you would.

Linus Marjeta

what happened to your eyebrows here xDDD. Am kidding thanks for the content

Badreddine Atid

He really did own that part, more than anything else I've seen him do.

Ellis Hugh

I was waiting for this reaction all season (: Pedro Pascal was such a great addition to the show. I've been rewatching Buffy because I'm bored and he's in like 5 mins of an episode when he's like 22 and I recognized him instantly even though he looks like a baby. He was a great casting chose for Oberyn.

Sour

Oberyn did the classic too greedy during boss fights like in Dark Souls and got murked.

Steve

Youtube and Patreon are separate anyways so imo it's okay if you're way ahead of the Youtube recap. Keep going! :)

Simon Bauer

Lol I love how she's so smart she guesses 90% of the plot twists the scene before they happen, but she can't grasp the fact that Gregor literally killed Oberyn first. Like if you smash someone's head in, obviously at the moment their skull explodes the explodee is instantly dead, while the exploder is still alive. If they were both dead, how did one kill the other? Idk just funny to me that she's annoyingly sharp about almost everything but something so simple flummoxes her for minutes.

Moat Cailin is a stronghold at the southernmost part of The North. It is located in a region called "The Neck". The Neck is very swampy, and the only safe route to travel through the swamps to the North is past Moat Cailin, so anyone holding Moat Cailin controls who can enter or leave The North by land. Usually it is unmanned because the North is just another of the Seven Kingdoms. The moat is difficult to man because it is in the middle of a swamp. There is little food except frogs, and plenty of disease., When the Ironborn attacked the North, a party captured Moat Cailin and held it, trapping Robb Stark's army in the South, so they could not get back to defend their homeland without taking it. However, as you can see, the ironborn were trapped there themselves. Pridefully insisting on maintaining their garrison, they had little food and were sucumbing to insect-borne diseases. Flaying is a method of torture that involves using a sharp knife to peel away the victim's skin, leaving the muscle and nerves exposed. House Bolton, who's words are "Our Knives are Sharp" was known for flaying, and their sigil is a flayed man on a cross. They did this to their victims until The Starks banned the practice. Fileting of chickens is an ancient art practiced by House Bobby Flay on the Food Network. The seal on the letter given to Barriston Selmy is a hand. It is the sigil of the Hand of the King of Westeros. If you recall from the previous episode, the Small Council was discussing that Ser Jorah Mormont was now loyal to Daenerys, so Lord Tywin called for his pen and told The Spider to get ready to send a letter via one of his little birds. That letter was a copy of the letter that King Robert had sent in Season 1, restoring Ser Jorah because he gave them information that made it possible to assassinate Dany, but Jorah decided at that moment to switch sides and instead demanded that the wine merchant taste the poisoned wine.

Alan Kobb

The Prince of Dorn was WAY too popular a character to be allowed to live long...

Ellis Hugh

Top 5 moment definitely. Favorite is still her reaction to the spiders at the beginning of Indiana Jones!

Ellis Hugh

Natalie's look at 38:40 might be my favorite moment of all time for any reaction. GoT has a way of pulling out such visceral emotions and it seemed like every fiber of Nat haaaated that moment lol thanks for the content!

Tadd Corsi

Yeah, when I binge it, I am for a 5 per day minimum. :)

Thomas Yanez

Well, at least I got The Hound’s “Shit, I’m never getting paid, am I?” look. I wasn’t spoiled for anything, but this being GoT and we all love Pedro and we’re not allowed nice things, yeah...

Matthew Periolat

Much as I liked Oberyn; he was kind of an idiot. With most other men, sure, what he was doing might be fine. But that's the Mountain; and instead of just finishing him, he walked around - he could at least have made sure to keep away from the man's hands whilst he had breath in his body. I suspect Oberyn's intention was to throw the spear at Tywin once he'd killed the Mountain. On another topic, Aria laughing and the look on The Hound's face when they tell him and Arya that Lysa's dead. Hound just cannot catch a break with getting money for Arya can he? I think Arya laughed in-part as a kind of.. not knowing how else to react, but also herself as much as both The Hound's 'a-f**king-gain?!' expression and the ridiculousness of that that's the 2nd time he's traipsed across half the country to ransom her off only for the people to pay for her to be dead.

Misty Crom

2 episodes a week is no way to watch Game of Thrones. Screw the YouTube folks they aren't paying.

Chris H

Yeah, it's more like 1984 (spoilers for 1984) where of course the main character knows 2+2 doesn't equal 5, but if it becomes dangerous enough to believe otherwise the human mind can force itself to believe whatever they're being told as a means of survival. After all, he does truly love big brother in the end

Conzi

Dang, didn’t catch that. Oh well. Thanks Andreas.

Jai Nelson

Guys don't worry, if you read her post she wrote that she would only post 2 GOT episodes this week, so as to not get de-synced with seasons. Ep 9 is next week! "Just a heads up, I'll only be posting two episodes this week and next week. Since we're so far ahead of the YouTube channel and since there's only 4 episodes of this season left, I felt like it would be better to keep it even and start Season 5 on it's own week."

MisturSmith

Oh no! Episode 9 is late. Never seen her be late before. Hope everything is ok.

Jai Nelson

Theon is once again a captive of the Warden of the North. The Bolton's unfortunately are no Starks.

Joshua Gardiner

in case it wasnt obvious the castle that the boltons rode towards was winterfell so get excited for that

Ben Gilshenan

oh i thought they were saying fillet "fillae". When I went fishing with my uncle as kid it meant to gut and remove the flesh of a fish so I guess its basically the same meaning.

Cripkie

I loved that film as a kid. The postman too.

Cripkie

I cant watch the last violent scene of this episode. I can watch stabbings and beatings but there is something so brutal about crushing someone's face open that it prevents me from participating this time.

Cripkie

Natalie, you should react to Waterworld with Kevin Costner!

Jon B

I love the scene where Tyrion is talking about his "simple" cousin. I know people who were like "what was the point of that?" The point is Tyrion was more or less waiting to find out if his death was certain. He knew it was close, but the tension was getting to him. He's talking about ANYTHING to keep himself from dwelling on it. Cause what else can he do?

Aaron

First Oberyn Martell gets his head popped like an unruly zit by Gregor Clegane, then the Mandalorian has to watch the Razor Crest get blown to smithereens and Grogu get kidnapped by Moff Gideon. Pedro Pascal characters should just avoid mountains of any kind at all costs.

Jordan Freemyer

why are we so sadistic to watch poor natalie have her hopes and dreams dashed, lmao

Coojw

...Chunky.

Michael G. Munz

You probably picked up on it, but the letter was sent by Tywin Lannister - last episode at the small council when Tywin ordered Mace Tyrell to fetch him paper and quill, he put all of this into motion to sow dissention amongst the ranks of Dany's advisors. The man is an absolutely brutal and brilliant tactician. Interesting story about the conversation between Jamie & Tyrion discussing their 'simple' cousin Orson... it was intended (in part) as a jab at Orson Scott Card who had been vocal in how distasteful he found Game of Thrones. And yes, the Mountain & the Viper... Game of Thrones is why we can't have nice things.

Ellis Hugh

Remember the very first time you saw Oberyn? When he's in the brothel and starts stalking the Lannister soldiers as he moves down the hallway he casually dips his hand into the flame of a candle. Oberyn loved playing with fire. It just took him awhile to finally get burned by it.

Zachary Loeser

A good way to gain (a tiny amount of) sympathy for Ramsay is this paraphrased book quote from his father. "Do it or I'll make you regret the day I raped your mother." SHEESH

Flukemarm

According to Oxford... Flay (verb): to peel the skin off (a corpse or a carcass)

Aaron

Wilko Johnson (Ilyn Payne) is still alive! He left the show because he thought he was going to die from cancer, but recovered.

Flukemarm

Fr it’s like watching again for the first time almost

Joe Mama

I hate the end of this episode because Oberyn really was so so cool and that was a brutal way to die but it is what it is. He was still amazing while he lasted

Jill Finlayson

Ahaha, the minute of disbelief at the end was amazing.

Axel Dietze

Sansa's moment to perfectly mix truth and lies... Lucifer would have been proud.

Michael Labs

Like a creepy Batman pedophile!!!!! LOL!!!!!!! oh sometimes Natalie, you are truly funny!!!!

Daniel Gauvreau

Also I'm not sure if you noticed/realized but the Boltons are headed to Winterfell

Jed U

Iirc he needed the confession about Tywin so that Dorne could declare war, it wasn't just for the sake of giving a speech.

Sansa lying here, or at least bending the truth, is the start of her learning to "play the game" so to speak. She's not all the way there, but its the first step

Jed U

Battle of the Blackwater is the last time we see him I think

Jed U

I always imagine when Pedro Pascal saw Disney about Mandalorian " Do i wear a helmet?" he asked "why?" they said "Did you see what happened the last time when i didn't, give me a f*#cking helmet!"

Paul Gibbons

Oberyn could have finished him but he got greedy, at that point he wanted Tywin too and it cost him.

Paul Gibbons

Wow the pre-emptive go fuck yourself. Well played.

The Middle-Aged Kid

Theon hasn't forgotten who he is. He's just so pyschologically beaten down that he's willing to be whoever Ramsay tells him to be. He's been traumatised into submission.

Paul Mason

BTW. Bring👏🏻on👏🏻the👏🏻Dark👏🏻Knight👏🏻

Travis

Lmao. Great reaction to an easily top 10 “holy shit” moment of this show.

Travis

I think I lol'd the first time I saw that part in the Mandalorian

Ben Wheeler

Even if the Mountain had died from his injuries sustained in the fight, I believe that he would be considered the winner since the Viper clearly died first. Also, the actor who played ser Ilyn Payne had cancer, which is why he has not been on the show since, I believe, season 2. And, in case anyone forgot, STANNIS IS THE ONE TRUE KING!!!!!!

darby72

Bronn is my boy! :)

MakaPeji

I remember reading this part in the book and being so back and forth on who I thought was gonna win through the whole fight. One of the things that makes GoT so good is that you just don't know.

Conzi

Damn, he should have just speared the mountain in the head from a safe distance then give his speech. Anyway, great reaction. :)

Wizzle

Hubris kills.

Luis Torrefranca

Yeah I was soooo pissed at the way this episode ended! and had to wait to see what happened next..lol

Jayson Phillips

Yo Natalie!!! The actor for Ser Illyn Payne died sometime during filming for Season 2 which is why that's the last season we see him.

Baltazar Martinez Jr

What a mind blowing episode

Jenny Tolls

In the movie Diehard they wanted Alan Rickman to look like he was really falling, so the stunt coordinator told him they'd count him down 1-2-3 and release. What they actually did was pull the pin on 2 so he'd be surprised and they'd capture a genuine look of surprise on his face.

Justin Credible

Beginning of episode: Maybe this is the episode 8 we get to have nice things! Narrator: It wasn't

David Dotting

Remember until recently Grey Worm and Missandei were slaves. Showing emotion no doubt was beat out of them. Masters don't care what their property is feeling. Being able make their own choices is very new to them. Making plans for a future. Being able to choose someone to share that future with. They wrote the Ilyn Payne out of the show. Besides cutting Ned's head off I don't think he does much more in the books besides being one handed Jamie's sparing partner as he could not speak it. They made a better choice for the show to use Bronn. Jamie and Bronn is almost as fun as Tyrion and Bronn.

Tranquil_Gnome

Flaying is skinning someone alive. When we saw Ramsay torturing Theon on the cross last season he was flaying his fingers.

My_Cousin_Mose

I'm laughing at "flaying" vs "filleting"! You tried. I respect that.

Trepanation21

Tywin wrote the letter a few episodes ago to seperate Daenerys from one of her advisers.

Owen James McBrearty

Sansa Stark has entered the game.

Owen James McBrearty

flaying means skinning someone alive

Philip Terho

'violently ill' lmao

JohnnyTankTop

Oberyn died!? This is NOT the way.

Paul C

I'm glad you brought up Inigo Montoya! The makers of this show purposefully want us viewers to be reminded of that scene from the Princess Bride. They lull you into a false sense of security thinking Prince Oberyn will win. He dominates the fight, he repeats the same phrase over and over, then (as you said) he gets cocky and careless and dies a horrible death. In many ways, it's the opposite of what happens in the Princess Bride. There, Inigo gets dominated, but is continually spurred on by his vengeance by repeating the same phrase before his ultimate triumph. The parallels and differences in these two scenes shows Game of Thrones at its best! This is one of my favorite episodes in the entire show (the next episode is my second favorite in season 4; I'm assuming you've already seen it)!

Ilsuk Yang

Well, it's all just pointless and we can all be crushed pointlessly like Orson's beetles, can't we. What an episode. 😆

Brandon

But...but...it's only Wednesday. I don't want to wait a whole week for another episode! Even though I've seen it before a dozen times, watching you watch it for the first time adds a whole new layer to it. I want more damn it ;)

Mike Battams

Thank you Nat for this pleasant reaction 😄 I have to admit that I was afraid of another emotional debacle for you, but you did pretty well, you may become little by little, a warrior, who knows? 😆 And you're always so funny when Littlefinger is around 😆 And you don't have to apologize when your allergies bother you, it happens and in this case you do what you have to do I want to say haha I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

Calo Grsf

Summed up perfectly Nat Wtf! Wtf! Wtf! Wtf! Another favourite goes in the most gruesome way RIP oberyn your time in the show was short but unforgettable. Ty nat for the great reaction until the next one 💛

Ian

i can't help but laugh during the mandalorian thinking that, "yeah it,s probably a good idea that pedro has his baskar helmet on at all times" lmao

TrackHoodie

I mean I don't think Theon literally had his memories erased...

Derik Knutson

I will probably minimize and mute the you know what part and just watch Nat’s reaction lol

Ben Wheeler

Flaying (different from filleting like a chicken) is removing the skin, which is what happened to that corpse, likely while he was alive.

Nikolai

I have yet to watch the reaction, currently my place has some construction going on haha. But this episode stands out as a pivotal one. When watching this episode as it aired I knew exactly what was going to happen. I knew who was going to die, and it STILL messed me up. I had nightmares after I watched it. I did not watch it again until many years later, and am still not a huge fan of watching it.

JediLounger

I kind of forgot there were 2 more episodes left in this season, what with the events of this episode having that penultimate episode energy, and thought you would be finishing out the season this week. Now what am I going to do for the next 2 Thursdays, lol?

Tony Johnson

Ahh, i cant wait to get to the end of this one. We are still in the timezone of GoT where no good deed goes unpunished.

Exxorios

*Splat*

Niklas

The fact that you mentioned previously that you know Tyrion is in later seasons from the one episode you watched years ago should make the ending of this episode even more reaction-worthy. Seems like simple math that Tyrion alive = Viper beats the Mountain. While technically true, is true in the most horrible way possible... :)

Steve J

Nat, after what you said at the end of the last show, and your intro for this episode - to use your own, oft-quoted phrase "Oh Boy!" 😢 I think we were all shook by that ending, and your face at the end said it all Nat. "Crazy Batman paedophile" - I have no words. Thanks for this week's Thrones Nat and I look forward to your season finale next week 💛

Darryl Low

Looking forward to this one and also not in equal measure for reasons that become apparent as one watches 😬 not sure I'm ready but here goes, volume set to moderate for this one too 😀

Ian

Happy Wednesday, Natalie! 😊 Getting this downloaded right now so that I can watch it later tonight. Looking forward to watching this. I still have the last 10 minutes of yesterday's episode reaction to watch this evening as well. Have a great day today! 😊 Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Randee Carreno

Me too but i have to do something for the next hour i literally can't wait!

Paul Gibbons

This comes out at 5pm for me in the UK and every Tues, Weds, Thurs I can't wait to sit down and watch along :)
