FIRST TIME WATCHING: GOT S6E3!!

Comments

John's watch ended when he died. He's not breaking his oath by leaving. :)

Jennifer Tremblay

It's kinda cute that Nat missed the baby elephant in the room

warcrimes

I can't believe you let Melisandre off so easily πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I hate hate HATE hate her still, and will never forgive her for Shireen. Shireen taught Davos and Gilly to read. The greatest gift you can give someone in medieval times where 5% of the population can read. Even some of the lords can't read. That's why sigils are a thing. You put a mascot/picture on a banner and everyone knows who you are, whether you can read or not. Ok, let me get off my reading is magic tangent. Fuck Melisandre. RIP Shireen. ❀

Nettles

β€˜My watch has ended’ gives me chills every single time

KhaimeraTech

You take the oath to the night's watch until your death. Jon died. Oath fulfilled.

Todd Bradford

I can't for you to watch the door. That was my favorite episode hands down. Super intense and super rewarding

devin flynn

Technically because he died on the night's watch that freed him from his Vow so to speak to serve the nights watch until death. The moment they killed him and he awaken again his watch has ended.

Tony

Nat, keep in mind that season 7 has 7 episodes and season 8 is only 6 episodes. It'll all be over before you know it!

Mike LL

Who reads all the Comments?

chicks dig me

I love it when no one checks the comments and then proceeds to be the 20th person repeating the same explanation or opinion. Poor Natalie has to feel like she is trapped in Office Space and doomed to get the same memo over and over again.

Obsolyeet

We will be getting crying next week...

Paul Gibbons

This season is just everything to me. Not one lackluster episode and 3 episodes that are in my top. I can't wait for next week. Cause episode 4 has some amazing moments and episode 5 is epic.

Andrew Clifton

You beat me to it πŸ˜…πŸ€£πŸ˜πŸ˜‚ These are the best.

Andrew Clifton

I think I should add "Jon died, so his watch ended" here for good measure. I don't think the other 30 comments above mine will be seen haha

Kirk Andrew Uhl II

That's the genius of Martin and the show - season 1, how much did you hate Jamie? Season 2, how much did you hate Theon? Now they're probably two of our favorite characters...

Ellis Hugh

Thought you guys might enjoy this, in honor of the fight at the Tower of Joy and the fact that Nat's first videos were the Star Wars trilogy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CTJEZXtr94

Ellis Hugh

well, technically Jon died, so now his watch is ended.

Joey Joseph Jojoson

Nat last week: calls Melisandre a c*nt Nat this week: Lord lead us from darkness. Fill our hearts with fire, so we may walk upon your shining path. For the night is dark and full of terrors!

mike

Jon gave his life to the nights watch, per the vow. I think he''s good in the honor department lol

Kenneth thomas

The Nights Watch vows are very specific. One of the latter parts being, "until death take me." So Jon has every right to leave, as he is not breaking any vows in doing so.

NobleSon32

You see Ramsay smile panic.

devin flynn

Regarding watching to the end of the execution. Remember the pilot episode Jon speaking to Bran. "And don’t look away. Father will know if you do." And from Ned. "Our way is the old way. The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword."

Luis Torrefranca

"Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come."

Luis Torrefranca

"Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death..." He's done his duty.

Luis Torrefranca

FUCK OLLY!! >:(

Amanda Hyde

You are the first person i have seen who agrees with me about Jon's ressurection! lol

Stellan

He’s my favorite character. He and Jon have such a fun relationship.

Sarah P

Jon died. His oath was to serve till death. He fulfilled his oath.

Justin Credible

It's already been established in the show that there are certain things that a leader can't let slide. Janos Slynt merely refused an order and got decapitated for it. Ollie is a murderer and a traitor. He wasn't forced to participate in the coup/mutiny. That was his choice. Being executed is the consequence. Doesn't matter if he is a sworn brother or not.

WackySwacky

Episode 4 is going to be interesting...

Paul Gibbons

The Night's Watch was not originally for "protection from the wildlings". The wall was built as a response to the first Long Night, and was all about stopping the Night King and his White Walkers. Literally thousands of years later, that has been forgotten and the Nights Watch has been just fending off the wildlings and that has become primary job until now, when a second Long Night is coming.

Thomas Yanez

Haha haven't watched this reaction yet but just from the posts sounds like Nat had issues with John leaving cause his watch had technically ended.

Ron K

Remember, death releases the nights watch from their vows. Jon Snow died, so his watch has ended. He didn't really break his vows.

Coojw

FUCK OLLY!!!

ISeeTrees ofGreen

Tormund is so great. Just wait. He gets even better soon. And yes, Danny was at that city before. It is the "holy" city of the Dothraki. That is where she had to eat the horse heart. Blood may not be spilled in the city. That is where her brother got his crown of gold that took his life.

Tranquil_Gnome

I really hate that Jon executes Ollie. I know he participated in Jon’s murder, and this is a world where kids are expected to grow up fast and bear adult responsibilities, but he was deeply scarred by what happened to his family. Also, there were a bunch o’ grown ass men telling him it was righteous and the only way to protect his people. He wasn’t even a sworn brother, it’s not like he broke a vow! I wouldn’t keep him around, but you’ll never convince me there wasn’t a more merciful option. Send him far away β€” what’s he gonna do, tell your enemies things about you that they already know?? Ugh.

Sarah P

This! An important clarification.

Sarah P

He died, his watch has ended. That's my bastard!

MakaPeji

This is what happens when the showrunners run out of source material. They've proven that they can't write original material on their own.

Ilsuk Yang

definitely the loophole nobody wants to attempt :)

Steve J

The role of the Nights Watch has changed now. They are no longer just protection from the wildlings. They now are basically the early warning system for the White Walkers now. I think everyone would pretty much agree that it's more important that Jon leaves, rather than stay, to spread his knowledge and build the army needed to try and win the ultimate fight.

Bill Johnson

Technically his vows are until he dies, no real rules for after that. Guess no one ever thought about resurrection.

Fauxfox

Wasn't expecting a Thrones episode today, so this was a nice surprise to see. πŸ˜€ Kind of a downer episode, even with a certain someone coming back. I have mixed thoughts about the death/resurrection thing. It doesn't really change his character in any major ways and it just gives him that loophole to leave the Watch peacefully, since you're only out when you're dead... and he definitely died... for awhile.

Brandon

Thanks Nat for your reaction, it was very nice! πŸ˜ƒ I love how fast you changed your mind about Melisandre πŸ˜†, and it's funny to learn you have sea sickness haha, as a lover of the sea I never got it (til now haha) and have always found it funny that some people are haha I'm really looking forward to the next episodes! πŸ˜„ I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! πŸ’›

Calo Grsf

as they say when they burn there dead "and now there watch has ended" Jon died "Kill the boy Jon snow, and let the man be born" Time for this man to become The Prince that was Promised!!!!!!! It wasn't Stannis atleast lol

Xanbry

The Night's Watch oath is until death. Technically, Jon died so he is released from his vow. Also, there are many Faceless Men of the Many-Faced God. They are all no one. They have absolutely no individuality. No face of their own anymore. The one wearing the face of Jaquen H'Ghar that drank the poison in place of Arya was also no one and was then replaced by no one. Whoever Jaquen H'Ghar was, he is no longer alive and no longer exists. He is merely another face from the hall that they use and pass on. For all we know, the two faceless men Arya has seen wearing Jaquen's face here in Bravos may not even be the same one she knew in Westeros.

A Vicarious View

The Night's Watch swears an oath that's for life. Jon died. Hence, he is freed from his oath.

WackySwacky

Well, the episode is called Oathbreaker, so you can see who the oathbreaker is, but did Jon really break his oath? It begins "Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death..." Interestingly enough, season 4 had an episode called Oathkeeper. That was because Brienne named the Valeryan Steel sword that Jaime gave her Oathkeeper.

Alan Kobb

So much for "the north remembers", I guess. The Umbers were the most loyal house to the Starks, there's zero reason they would give up the literal heir to Winterfell (assuming Bran's death) to the fucking Boltons. So dumb.

Kevin Anand

Well, as Sam would say, Jon technically died and so his watch did end according to his oath.

Essero Eson

"Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death." Jon has died, so his watch has ended.

mike

Idk Jon "lived and died" at his post so technically he's fulfilled his oath

Joey Hammill

blessed by the many faced god for another one

Simon Bauer

I just can't resist this: Riiiicolaaaaaa!!! (That is what you are popping, right? Ricola lozenges?

MertzRocks
