I would probably argue in response that the characters in Loki aren't great... Loki himself loses all the traits that made him memorable by episode 2. Instead of being pro-active and scheming he just follows the plot and doesn't subvert anything. Sylvie also doesn't act 'like a Loki'! Where's the charm and deviousness? She's just angry. As for the others, Ravona is unlikeable and poorly motivated whilst Mobius is very likeable but has zero backstory or inner life. Literally all we know is that he likes Jet-Ski's! He who Remains... well literally he is all exposition and strange acting choices. Ultimately the characters here aren't remarkable and this worries me for the 'multiverse' moving forward.

I get where Nat is coming from and honestly I hated all the Revonna parts cause it just seems like they keep stretching her parts when it could've been handled better. Also I agree with the "repeating of sylvies motives" thing in episode 5. But I enjoyed the series all the way and episodes 4-6 are my favorite. The thing is, it's a MUCH different experience when you know all these easter eggs, how the story connects to other MCU projects and that He who remains is the next big bad of the mcu. Honestly I'm just surprised cause Nat is usually keen with the characters and she didn't really make any comments regarding Loki's development each episode or understand where Sylvie was coming from at the end. She's usually on point with the characters or at least try to understand them. That's why I find it a bit off that she made no comments regarding the characters. Hope she gives a second watch and maybe change her mind cause I think it's a great show and I believe it's better than Wandavision cause even though I really loved the first half of wandavision I also hated the last 2 episodes. I'm actually really sad Nat didn't enjoy Loki to a degree I thought she would but fair reaction and still looking forward for more :)

Personally, I get the feeling the line, "in search of free will..." will come back later in an important role. I think she is going to try and become the one in charge, because she said only the one in charge gets to have free will. There are a lot of things she wants to change, and Ms. Minutes gives her all the info she needs to seek out the one guy who can help her obtain the power to do that- namely, Kang ('He Who Remains').

I agree with some others that Jonathan Majors gave a stellar performance in this episode. I think maybe it helps to know he is playing a Kang variant here and having seen him in other work that is more dramatic. So seeing him having so much fun with this episode was a delight. I agree that Wanda Vision is still the best with it really delving into grief and the performances were just phenomenal all around. I have to admit that I fell asleep a couple of times to Loki. The fight scenes are so horribly choreographed and just boring to watch. The pacing was slow as well. I was also hoping when they announced Richard E Grant that he would have a bigger part. Hopefully he pops up in another timeline :).

A lot of people love Loki. The show did have story problems but the problems to me were more in the first two episodes and everything seem to narrow down in the last 3 episodes. This is now a gravity shift with storytelling in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the multiverse a thing there are many possible ways to tell stories. This is sort of normal in comics because they need a way to tell any story to keep selling books. With the movies and TV doing this it will keep ability for anything open. I felt with this series the acting saved the lacks in story. Jonathan Majors just did a powerful one man play with his monologuing. On par with Patrick Stewart. I would watch the Marvel Assembled behind the scene videos to see what they had to change and what difficulties the productions of each show had to endure. Also don't worry about people talking about spoilers. What is happening is there are projects announced and castings already made. How it all comes together we don't know. From comic knowledge we know how He Who Remains, TVA, and Kang fit together but we have no idea how the MCU will handle it. The TVA is vastly different from its comic story but still remains as the metaphorical editor of the Marvel universe.

Yeah, it's REALLY plain stupid when just because some spoilers are officially released/public knowledge people somehow think everyone needs to know them. When you don't keep up to date with every piece of media news of fiction you're looked down upon by some for being out of the loop of news/pop culture and there are those they think they need to "fix" you. I'm really surprised you thought he was lying the whole time. That's just not how an interesting plot works. Not everyone's just a sinister villain and the destination the "heroes" desire isn't always what' s best to happen. Although I do love this show, I also think it's basic plot and concept are a lot more simple than people hyped it up to be. Similar shows have been done many times before, and it's not as unique as so many claim.

The Avengers didn't change anything, so no "changes" were sanctioned. It was just a convoluted way of getting to what it was supposed to be. A paradox that always happened, with an end point that was always supposed to be that way for this particular timeline. Everything happened as it was supposed to. I agree with a lack of information on how the timelines/universes idea works, it is not clear yet from what has been described. Hopefully it will become clear in the coming movies.

Never got the hype over Loki previously at all, didn't care that much. But I still think this is the second best show behind Wandavision by a wide margin, and only barely second behind it (maybe joint 1st). It is an amazing finale for what it does and what it sets up across the MCU and for the second Loki series, it is a shift in the MCU that really is astronomical in scale. For those with short attention, looking for just action, I can't imagine it is great. Luckily content isn't made just for those people - that would truly be boring.

You're not really meant to like He Who Remains. What he did was horrible both to Sylvie and to the rest of the branching timelines. But the point of this version of him is to be "the devil you know" or the better of 2 (or in this case many) options. Not entirely bad but definitely not good. Just somebody who believed that he was right and doing the right thing. To the point of doing whatever he thought necessary to achieve it.

Yeah hopefully Nat read the comments here after being done, basically this opens up every aspects of the multiverse in the MCU. Now they can just take things from different universe, put them in the MCU and be like well it's one of those branches that just got created. They will most likely take stuff from the X-Men Fox universe. The sony Spider-Man universe. The What If animated show is based on the fact that a whole lot of new realities are being created. To answer her question about him having killed all his variants, it's what he's doing constantly by destroying realities and eliminating variants to prevent new realities from growing where a new variant of himself can be born. Yes there is a follow up with season 2 but this will be expended upon in the next few MCU movies. Spiderman, Dr Strange, Antman will all be connected to the event at the end of Loki. And Majors's performance make sense if you take into account that he has been living there in that castle alone, doing all that crazy shit for millions and millions of years so yeah he's a bit crazy around the edges.

My thoughts on a couple of your comments... First, regarding S01E05's "cheesiness"... throughout the MCU, Loki has personified cheesiness with his dramatic flair and Glorious Purpose. So, how could an episode that was packed full of Loki's be anything BUT extra cheesy? Second, regarding He Who Remains. I think the actor did a fantastic job. You know how I read that character? As a guy who has lived a million lives (his own words, and I'm pretty sure he was being literal) and who is just tired of the shit (again, his words, paraphrased). I would have been disappointed if he WASN'T over the top eccentric.

Yup. Series started strong, then episode 2 was a slight dip, episode 3 slightly bigger dip, then 4 - 6 just ramped things up. I'll agree with others that on first viewing, the finale left me a bit perplexed even though I enjoyed it... but upon subsequent viewings, i grew to love it more and more, especially Jonathan Majors' performance which was amazing. He absolutely killed it!

He's a fucking phenomenal actor and you should definitely check out more of his work. Especially The Last Black Man in San Francisco in which he is amazing. Johnathon majors comes from a Theater background. I also think you were harsh on Richard E. Grant. He is a phenomenal actor and played that character to perfection.

I can understand someone watching this and not seeing the implications. The timeline is now broken, everything is possible, the time when Thanos won, the time when Nazis ruled the Earth, the time when the Avengers never formed. All timelines can combine, the evil versions of He who Remains, aka Kang the Conqueror appear. For me, I'd love to see young Kang appear and form the Young Avengers, with the new Hawkeye (from the Hawkye TV show), Isaah Bradley's grandson (from Falcon & the Winter Soldier) and Wanda's twins (after Dr. Strange 2)

I think we were supposed to be unimpressed and annoyed by He Who Remains' 'performance' at the end. I don't think it was the fault of Jonathan Majors, I imagine he gave exactly what the showrunners wanted him to deliver. My guess, based on what little I know of what's to come, is we are going to see a complete 180 sort of performance from him as his variant selves, and this was the most "kind and whimsical" version we were going to get, not unlike the guy behind the curtain in The Wizard of Oz. (Which, I must confess, as a kid I was disappointed that he was just some guy.) My biggest complaint with the ending is that it created more questions than it answered, for me. Particularly in regards to the time travel aspect of the Avengers movies. To me, you have two choices: the Alternate/Parallel Universe approach, or the Alternate Timelines approach. But Marvel has gone with both, and it just makes no sense to me. Loki was not wrong in saying that the Avengers going back in time changed the timeline to where Loki had access to the tesseract again. We saw all sorts of changes they made to the allegedly Sacred timeline, but apparently those changes were "sanctioned"? Never mind that I thought Banner had said time wasn't a line, for "quantum" reasons or something (I forget the actual explanation). Also, was the Thanos that time-travelled over to Avengers HQ to fight them a variant Thanos, since Thanos Classic was decapitated by Thor? And if the timeline was "locked" by He Who Remains, what was Dr. Strange viewing in the millions of possible outcomes? Just a whole bunch of versions of them being pruned by the TVA? "There's only one winning outcome, because Pre-Kang decreed it." Anyway, I don't think there could have been a "better" ending to the season. They needed a memorable way to give an info dump, and if they'd had Kang deliver a serious performance or a confident performance, then you wouldn't be torn as to what you wanted to happen at the end, or whether to believe him, or trust that he had a clue, in regards to the timeline, or Sylvie and Loki. (I'm also wondering how Sylvie gets out of the Void without a TemPad.) It was also a refreshing change of pace from... a similar character from another movie series I won't name so as not to spoil anything if you ever go back to the movies in question.

I agree. Honestly, all these MCU series (I'm not going to call them shows because I don't think they're long enough to warrant that designation) have left something to be desired. I liked WandaVision the best and I think that could use a lot of work too. I feel like it started off well, but killed, and reversed, any momentum it had with episodes 7 and 9 (8 was good and necessary). Falcon and the Winter Soldier was a mess. Great action, and I loved the stuff with Sam and Bucky (and Zemo), but everything else was rough. With Loki, I was just expecting more. I feel like they're somehow telling less story with these series (each is essentially a four to four-and-a-half hour long movie) than they are with the actual movies in phases 1-3. Yup! Completely baffled me that there wasn't an end credits scene for the finale (I don't count the "Loki Will Return in Season 2" teaser at the end). I do agree with you that the execution of this miniseries could've been better and that WandaVision is the best MCU miniseries so far (honestly, I can't really call them "shows"). Just a reminder that "What If" already has 3 episodes out. If you continue doing Marvel Mondays (Tuesdays aren't really necessary since you would overtake the series really quickly) once you get back from your break, that would be cool, but if you need a break from Marvel stuff, I get that. Once you get back from your break, you'll have to start finding another show to watch since you'll only have six episodes of GOT left!

I don't think that's it exactly... No from me, but from another commenter here (Bou_): "...He clearly stated during his exposition (expositions are made for a reason, you just have to listen) that he ISOLATED the timeline. Preventing branches so that it never gets in touch with other timelines. He never said he killed his variants." So, in this interpretation (that I share now) other timelines (Universes) where other Kangs might already exist are there. HWR is just avoiding his time line to branch to far away as to be accessible to other timelines (and hence invite conquering)

I LOVE YOU COMMENT. Respect, knowledge and well argued opinions. I would've loved to start my comments reading with yours. I wouldn't be so pissed of right know. Commenting on your opinion, I don't think Marvel has relied on people having to cross (beyond film and tv now) to get a complete picture. And I can say this, because I only get my marvel knowledge from films and tv shows. I don't read comics, I don't see trailers or even news of casting or fan theories. I love to get my own reactions unbiased. Of course, there has been lots of fan service along the history of the MCU, but previous knowledge was never encouraged not needed to get the picture, until now. With this show I feel that Marvel has dropped the ball on having the MCU be self explanatory, and I haven't found anyone that likes it, if they didn't know of Kang as a thing in the comics and future movies... But, as you also said, Marvel plays the long game and I don't think this show not landing for some (I'm aware that I'm a rare breed) will affect much the ability to follow. Now I know about Kang, and can't wait to get my next MCU fix... I need it!

I liked majors performance in the last episode but don’t blame anyone for not liking it. My takeaway from Ravona going to find free will is tha5 she wants the power to control time for herself and thus free will. Shitting on anyone for not liking something subjective seems silly.

You're thinking to hard into the whole "simple human aquires the capability to affect and control the way time and space flows and prevent it from splitting at all times" thing. All he really needs to do is know how to travel in time and between universes. Then he creates an organization by stealing people from their timelines, and gives them all the tech to travel, and by stopping the things Kang doesn't want happening, the universe corrects itself, and thus stays on one path. and I think you're right, it is how we perceive time that gets in the way of understanding such grand ideas like this. As far as I'm concerned the killing of HWR happened outside the sacred timeline entirely. However that makes sense. Once again we don't know the full story or the way any of it works because it's so beyond our own understanding and more into the realm of fiction, which doesn't make it bad.

It's interesting to see that some people look to reactors so that they can fall into their own form of confirmation bias. If you like something that they like, it somehow validates their own opinion on the form in question, but if not - clearly you have "missed something". I find that it is more helpful to see reactors come to their own conclusion and see if those challenge or reinforce my own opinions and go from there. To see your comments and thoughts on series like this is why I support you - not to have you match my own opinion. I do fall into the camp of loving Major's portrayal of He Who Remains (I also loved him in Lovecraft Country, hint hint) - many have already commented on some of the aspects that could be gleaned from the comics and other sources that inform the characters performance, info that was not readily handed out by the series itself - normally I would say that it is pretty sloppy storytelling to not further illustrate this in the medium its presented in, but Marvel has learned that they can play the long game with their stories and much like the comics, rely on people willing to cross different books, shows, and films to be able to get a more complete picture of what is going on. However, I have seen folks that are well versed in the background material that also found this portrayal not to their liking - so 'not understanding' isn't really the crux of why people didn't like this performance I agree with your thoughts on episode 5, it would be hard to argue that the episode wasn't 70% fan service directed at the comic book crowd - Frog Thor, President Loki, that stupid Thanos Copter, etc. The episode becomes a much different creature if you don't have the frame of reference for a lot of these, and perhaps could have used this time better in setting up He Who Remains more fully (though I wouldn't have changed that reveal for anything). I could draw the parallel that Agatha Harkness had a little over 2 full episodes of WandaVision to stretch her legs as the big bad (or one of them) and to really inform her character, not to mention the bread crumbs strewn across the story all along the way. It will be interesting to see how Majors portrays the various Kang's we will see in the future properties, as they will most certainly deviate from the He Who Remains version we see here. I would not even be surprised if the Kang behind the TVA Loki now finds himself in is quite different than we expect. I have a feeling that the TVA Kang and Renslayer are going to be the driving force behind this new TVA and it will interesting to see what they think is 'best' for the timeline.

I love your comment, as in contrast to other comic fans, is respectful and shows that no opinion is more valid than any other... Your insight on the "preventing branches so they never get in touch with other time lines" just gave me a lot to think of... It might even improve my understanding of the show and how I feel about it. I must tell you though. I saw it already 4 times and that fact wasn't clear to me (I haven't read the comics). So it might be that the show is not so well delivered as other pieces in the MCU that don't require previous knowledge to appreciate and understand it fully.

Agree with Natalie on Jonathan Majors performance. But I don't blame him. I think he was directed to act that way. So I think he did a great job based on the direction he was given. But it was distracting. Also agree that the last couple of episodes fell flat.

First, Judge Renslayer said only the person in charge has free will. When she left she said she was seeking free will. Second, every branch in the timeline spawns an entire universe with different versions of everyone. Including he-who-remains. The performance by Jonothan Majors will change as the MCU progresses because you will be meeting different variants of his character.

Well. This is over, for the time being. And I have to say my feelings for the show have changed. I didn't like the show too much in my first viewing. But now, upon my fourth viewing, I'm starting to really hate it. I now know that I have philosophical issues with the story and the whole concept subject. I disliked very much almost all characters arc, with Rabona and Movious having no purpose in the end. But the biggest issue for me is the concept of the "sacred Timeline". As I'm understanding the subject matter, after this fourth viewing, "He who remains" is basically reduced all possible universes to just the one, supposedly to avoid perilous beings from arising and risking another multi-verse war. Let's let aside for a moment the fact that a simple human (no matter how far from the future) aquires the capability to affect and control the way time and space flows and prevent it from splitting at all times (hard to even imagine, but let's concede that for now). Then, that means that up until Silvie killed HWR there was no multi-verse. We had just one single universe and one single timeline on that universe... Right? So what the heck is all that talk about multi-verses on Doctor Strange? Maybe just because how we percibe time, we always have lived on the multiverse were Silvie killed HWR... In any case, the simple fact is that I don't care at all for the story and I'm not invested to see other variants of HWR... I'm really not looking for season 2 of this...

To recap, this show confirms that in all of the previous movies in the MCU, none of the characters had free will. They all had to do what "He Who Remains" chose for them to do. Does this ruin those movies for you? You tell me. The way this show deals with time is not explained well at all. Ask someone on the internet what is happening and you will get 20 different answers. Anyway, essentially this entire series is just pure set-up for the "real" story, which is coming in the movies. The same can be said for both Wanda-Vision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. They were all just set-up. None of the stories were particularly good or engaging. Wanda-Vision had the best premise, but the ending ruined that show. The only point of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV show was "Falcon is Captain America now". We didn't even need a show for that, Steve already gave him the shield in Endgame. He could have just shown up in the next movie already in the Cap suit, but instead we got one of the weakest MCU installments to date. In Loki, Loki is sidelined into a secondary character while one of his variants drives the plot. Hilariously, they turned Loki into a simp for himself, he cries in nearly every scene, and he's lost all of his own power, agency, and intelligence. He's basically an entirely different character now. A much more pathetic character than he was before. The Marvel Studios TV shows have all been duds for me. Hopefully the upcoming movies get back to the quality we expect from Marvel, but if Black Widow is anything to go by, we have a rough road ahead of us.

So, I saw that you have questions. I have some of the answers, so lets get started. First let me define some terms so we know what definitions of words I am using. Infinite: Something that is infinite is unexplorable, uncountable or unknowable. No matter how much time you had or how many people you had counting, you could never count an infinite number of something. There would always be an infinite number of it left. Timeline: An infinite number of universes that are identical in every way except that time may flow differently from one to the other. So jumping from one universe in a timeline to another could seem like time travel, but you are always in the present. This is why the TVA has to deal with branching universes in real time, because it's always the present where ever they go. So what He Who Remains (HWR) tells us is that the TVA propaganda was a lie, they don't destroy variant universes, that would take infinite energy and infinite time. Instead the TVA destroys enough of that universe that it detaches from that timeline entirely before it connects to the sacred timeline which would allow a HWR variant to come over. Wildly different variants of Loki like Sylvie and Gator Loki are from other timelines entirely that branched to close to the sacred timeline and were pruned before they could connect and cause a HWR variant to come over. This is why Sylvie was able to make it to ten or twelve before being discovered. She came from a timeline where she was the plan, not the variation. So when HWR isolated his timeline, all the other infinite number of varied timelines still exist. hey are infinite number of them with HWR variants, an infinite number without and an infinite number where the whole MCU is just a series of movies and TV shows. By killing HWR, Sylvie has allowed all the branches to reach out at will and connect to the rest of the multiverse. At the end, Loki was send back to one of these alternate branches where he never was pruned. What HWR meant by saying he will just end up right back where he was is that in an infinite multiverse everything happens and infinite number of times, has happened an infinite number of times, is happening an infinite number of times and will happen again in infinite number of times. So there is an infinite number of you out there, the exact same you, indistinguishable from the others in every way plus an infinite number for every instant of your life, plus an infinite number of every variation possible. So HWR, and everyone and everything else always exists, always has and always will. It has to be that way in an infinite multiverse. Now what HWR said at the end about what he was doing was practical is nearly identical to what nuns used to tell us when someone argued the existence of God against the existence of so much suffering and that argument is that the way the world unfolds is the best way it could given free will. Gods plan is to get humanity to it's end game with as little suffering as possible and because we have no context for any other existence, we see it as horrible. So it is with HWR. He saw all the possibilities and took the road that worked out best for what he considers the best outcome. Can't fault him for that.

I am a bit surprised you didn't like Jonathon Majors' performance. I really enjoyed the manic depressive type personality. He had so much on his shoulders as an actor to convey so much information in an engaging way. Revona says the only person who gets free will is the person in charge. When she says she is going in search of free will it can be interpreted as she is either looking for the one in charge or to become the person in charge. I think this show was overall very good. WandaVision hit me much harder on an emotional level but I love both of the series. Falcon and Winter Soldier on the other hand was not that good. Way too sloppy and disorganized. However, so far so good on the series. I look forward to season 2.

Jonathon Majors performance was amazing wtf lol It seems like a lot of this didn't land for Nat, which I don't really blame her for. She's not a huge Marvel fan and has only seen a majority of the titles once (and with relatively little time between each) and she definitely has no comic knowledge (this show is much better as a comic fan imo with all the references and easter eggs and knowing what this is setting up). It also seems that she didn't really get the memo that these limited series' weren't really supposed to tell full cohesive stories but they were more to set up future titles and Phase 4. I have noticed Nat seems to have gotten much more critical and nit picky than she used to be, not sure if it's just because she's seen more content now or what but it does slightly take away from the reactions for me, especially when she is particularly negative for most of the reaction.

I absolutely loved Jonathan Majors performance as He Who Remains. He's eons old, been all by himself, so appropriately quirky and weird. Call it a hermitage induced Aspergers. He also "isolated" their timeline so that it would never intersect with the timelines where the other Kang's are ruling. An intersection would immediately give an invading Kang all the time in the universe to usurp it. He can insert himself anywhere in time and space and begin building his empire and creating alliances before you can say "Holy Shit!" in your point in time. Welcome to the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse! The repercussions of this event will ripple out to the other Avengers. Spiderman 3, Doctor Strange 2, and Antman 3 are all confirmed to be multiversal movies.

I also loved Jonathan Majors in this. His portrayal of madness, and of being in charge for Far Too Long was perfect. There is an internet theory that points out that, if you play the last episode of Wanda Vision and this episode side by side, the moment He Who Remains comments about crossing over the threshold into uncertainty coincides perfectly with Wanda taking full control as the Scarlet Witch. And plenty of fans believe this series, and Wanda Vision, create the very multiverse that will be the focus of both Spiderman and Dr. Strange films.

Once you finish X-Men I would also watch the other 6 Spider-Man films as well, plus Venom. I will be shocked if a large majority of the non MCU movies do not get folded into the coming multiverse war. All of those movies are of varying quality, but the most important thing is to be introduced to the characters, so you understand their motivations and powers. The first real volley of the war, MCU Spider-Man 3, will be very dense and will throw a whole lot at you all at once, and as another commentator said, best be prepared.

As mentioned, this guy is the next universal threat that will build over many movies/shows before whatever happens happens. Props to Marvel for introducing the next MCU 'BigBad™' in a TV show. To me this show is the best of the post-Endgame MCU content so far. It seems to finally break free of the characters just reacting to the events of Endgame and definitively gets things moving in a new direction. Looking forward to the inevitable climax when it's not just our group of trusty Avengers coming together to battle Kang, but Avengers across realities to battle Kangs across realities. I guess the answer to Wong's "What, you wanted more?" in Endgame will be yes. If you want some flavor of how things might go in the next decade of MCU you should really check out Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. Just watched it again yesterday and it's so good. Hopefully MCU gets some inspiration from it since it really nails the 'mix a bunch of realities/characters together and just have fun' feeling.

I like how you said at the end something to the effect that the Lokis found the Time Lord, because that sums up my complaint about this series. I am not one of the ones in love with this. The vast majority of this series played like a bad episode of Dr. Who, especially the episode on the doomed planet of Lamentis or whatever it was, that played exactly like a bad episode of Dr. Who. While I appreciate the fact that this series set up Kang the Counqueror, and that will probably be great, he could make Thanos seem like a second rate villain, the execution of this series was not very interesting to me. I did have to love Richard Grant in this, I've been a big fan of his ever since Hudson Hawk. Did not like the Loki falls in love with himself storyline, either, I think the criticism that Loki was a guest star of this series is justified, Sylvie was the critical character here.

Every one was excited to see Jonathan Majors on the show since Marvel already announced that he's playing Kang the Conqueror in an upcoming movie. This was the "He Who Remains" variant of Kang. That's why when he was saying the things he was called, "a ruler, congqueror", he put that emphasis on conqueror. And there's a fan theory going around, when they crossover the threshold, he pauses and you hear thunder, they say that's the moment when Wanda becomes Scarlet Witch. She's a "nexus level mutant" in the comics so it's likely that her presence could be felt across the multiverse.

To explain: When there is no one controlling time, then all of time starts branching again, because time is relative, therefore, if he doesn't exist to keep variants out of existence, then there will be an infinite amount of variants of him, and everyone else. I think you should re-watch this episode as it seemed like things kinda went over your head or just didn't land for you. Revonna went to find free will which she had just revealed that she thinks only "the person in charge" has, thus it would only make sense that miss minutes gave her the location of one of the Kang the Conqueror (he who remains) variants. Also I also thought that Major's performance was a bit over the top and kinda lame the first time I saw this but now watching it again it does make sense that he would be kinda crazy and a bit manic as he has seen ALL of time and lived millions of years. I mean it makes sense that he wouldn't be calm cool and collected to me.

I think you were spot on about the inconsistencies in the writing. Not the strongest of finishes (lots of speeches that don’t really add up to a whole lot). Probably the most compelling part is Loki ending up in a different timeline. But I agree with you that it is a decent premise and look forward to season two. In the mean time, look for Kang (that was Kang… I’m sure someone will go into more detail about him) as a potential (confirmed, I think, at least for one or two films) baddie. I hope they do more with him than have him give crazy monologues.

So this episode of TV is not just going to play out in the Loki Season 2. Silvy's decision will affect everyone in the MCU and He Who Remains (Or more specifically His Variants) will be the new big bads (like Thanos) of the MCU. This decision will play out over the course of the next several movies--SpiderMan, Dr Strange, Ant Man and the Wasp, etc... They will all deal with the repercussions of what Loki and Silvy did! And you will see Jonathan Majors (He Who Remains) again not just in Loki Season 2.

My theory is that the files that Ms. Minutes gave her revealed the locations of He Who Remains' Variants (such as Kang the Conqueror, Immortus, and Rama-Tut). Also, in the comics, Ravonna and Kang were in a relationship, so that would be interesting to see...

I have to give you a lot of credit for being able to get into the emotional elements of a scene, even when you're not totally feeling the episode or show overall. Not gonna lie, It's nice to see someone else being critical of He Who Remains performance. Jonathan Majors is great... just not here IMO. It just has that feeling of sucking the oxygen out of the room. "Act like Joker because The Architect was boring" was how I felt about this performance. I suspect that he will have a different performance in store when we see him again as one of his variants. 😉 Personally, this was my favorite of the 3 Disney+ Marvel shows up until this episode. I think I'd have been more OK with this finale if I knew going in that Loki was getting a second season. With WandaVision and Falcon & The Winter Soldier we knew those were going to be a one and done mini series and I think a lot of people made the same assumption here. I'm still curious enough to see what they'll do with a second season, though.

He didn't kill any of his variants. He just put an end to the multiversal war and now that he is dead, it means all other variants are free to attack our universe. Also, his name is Kang(from the comics). One of his variants would be Kang, the Konqueror which is what he referenced when he was introducing himself.

The guy is literally insane. He's been dictating the proper flow of time for eons, for more time than anyone can imagine. And that's why he's so eccentric and weird. While I respect your opinion on his acting, for me it works like a charm. The guy killed it. PS: I know you don't really read the comments but i'll say it anyway. He clearly stated during his exposition (expositions are made for a reason, you just have to listen) that he ISOLATED the timeline. Preventing branches so that it never gets in touch with other timelines. He never said he killed his variants.

I don't know if she didn't like his portrayal or just the character in general. That's a big difference. I thought he did an amazing job and showed a lot of different emotions....really made me interested in a character we only spent part of one episode with.

If you seen rick and morty, He Who Remains is basically Rick, the infinite Rick, a being with a technology that make him the most powerful and dangerous being in every conceivable universe. A god. A real god, not like loki or thor.

I feel like watching the Easter egg breakdowns on YouTube increases my enjoyment. Gives me the context out of the comic books so things make more sense.

Jonathan Majors' performance was a bit divisive, a lot of other folks were offput by how over the top it was, so you're definitely not alone on that Nat. I liked it, but am definitely curious to see where he takes versions of the character next.

I pretty much agree with all your opinions on this series Natalie. The second half is not as good as the first half. I too didn’t completely dig Johnathan Majors’ performance, but I can let it slide because he’s gonna be different every time we see him.

He did kill them all, but if you let the branches grow, they become their own timelines, where another one of him is born in the 31st Century. As long as only the one is born, there is peace.

Considering He Who Remains has been in that Citadel for very long time, by himself - that is the kind of personality I'd figure him having. Off-putting and very quirky. I enjoyed his performance, but I can see why some wouldn't.

Agree with Natalie on Jonathan Majors performance. But I don't blame him. I think he was directed to act that way. So I think he did a great job based on the direction he was given. But it was distracting. Also agree that the last couple of episodes fell flat.

Your reaction to this episode(and series as a whole really) is the worst one I've seen to this show. By far the worst, most critical and most clueless I've seen.

His performance was phenomenal. Multi layered and complex. I don't feel she knows much about what makes up a great acting performance. Too focused on cinematography and too critical of the writing.

I think I heard her say she hated his performance. I think my issue with it was the writing more than the actual performance. Lots of unnecessary dialogue (things being said again and again, in different ways).

I personally hated the way the whole scene with 'He Who Remains' was executed. I can't believe they only had two shots to cut between in that long exposition piece. Probably a different director for the last few episodes.

I felt like the goofy over-the-top performance of He Who Remains was to set up the contrast between who he is now and upcoming versions of him that are going to be... a bit harsher.

The actor that played He Who Remains is actually the main villain of Ant-Man 3, a variant of him named Kang, endless versions of Kang will set out to conquer worlds in different timelines, starting the multiversal war.

Natalie, I also couldn't stand Majors' performance in this episode. However, I imagine that because we'll be seeing him again, he's keeping room to do a very different style of performance in the future for the more malevolent Kang. At least that's my hope. lol

Interesting about what episodes you liked, I thought 3 was by far the worst episode and 6 was the best written and executed.
