FIRST TIME WATCHING: GOT S8E1!!

Hey guys!!

It's finally time for THE LAST SEASON of Game of Thrones!!! I can't believe how fast this whole show has flown by and I'm so excited to see how it all ends.

This one skips the recap completely and starts right with the intro at 5:07. Also, my camera randomly froze in this one...not sure why :/ so there's a brief moment where my face is frozen, but there's no need to pause the episode while you're watching it with me!

As always, thanks so much for your support here on Patreon! Until the next one, ✨stay golden!✨

So benjen explained that the wall itself was spelled with magic by markings that were etched into the wall... so as long as the wall was still standing and the markings were intact the dead couldnt pass through the wall. Once he destroyed the wall with the dragon the markings were torn down and the dead could walk through with the magic being lifted... also from what I understood when bran crossed through the wall with the night kings mark on his arm he could have made it through as well alone but still needed to bring his army.

Angelina Sargent

I think Cersei is playing her cards well here. If she sent her army north, her army would weaken, which would mean she was almost guaranteed to lose the next war. If she keeps her army out of this war, only her enemy's army will weaken, giving her a better chance to win the next war. It's a gamble, if her enemies win against the whites their army is weakened or they lose and she would get fucked. If she sent her army north, she would most probably be fucked.

Edwin Bertilsson

I always felt that Cersei was faking the pregnancy to manipulate Jamie, Tyrion and Euron - and whoever else she was in the mood to manipulate. I can't believe anyone would still be pissy about Theon fleeing when he did. If he hadn't, he would have absolutely died and certainly wouldn't be available to rescue Yara when he did. I think the joke with the dragons watching was a play on how sometimes our pets unnervingly watch us when we, well - you know. I rather liked the theory that they are so very attuned to Targaryens that they sensed a breeding in the offing and the continuation of their bloodline is a significant thing. It's crazy to think that Arya and Gendry haven't seen each other since season 2, Arya and Jon since the second episode and Bran and Jamie since the first episode.

Ellis Hugh

As good as the first season of the Witcher was, the second should be significantly better. I still think Nat needs to get on the Stranger Things train first, though. It's last season should be starting soon.

Ellis Hugh

Yes good choice, stick with shorter shows like True Detective S1, Chernobyl or resume The Boys.

Paul G

What I'm toxic cause I don't let you get the last word in! I'm sure you'd love to put up a dozen anti D+D comments without push back on these last few eps so you feel like you've had the final word. I don't dislike you, your comments on other items are perfectly reasonable but you have such hate for D+D you have to expect a rebuttal. They have some blame but so do others.

Paul G

"So thanks for that, Dyko." That's how you ended your comment Michael. Looks like you were talking to me. You and Paul and a few others in the comments are always ready to start a flame war anytime I say anything about GoT. I don't know any of you, but let's all I try to not call people names and such in this comment section. You know, keep things somewhat civil. And for Paul: You are very often the most toxic person in this comment section. It would probably be best if we didn't respond to each others comments anymore.

WackySwacky

New season is coming out soon so this would be a great choice.

WackySwacky

Just catching up…dark? Welp best hit the lights in a couple episodes just saying

Charlie Keeler

Dyko, I never said you specifically, but since apparently everything is about you, we will roll with that. Apologies and all that.

Michael Blankenship

awww lil baby need his binky?

robingardner

I'm hoping for The Wheel of Time 😃

Opti_Frog

You do realise why GRRM started writing books again after a long hiatus? Because his tv ideas weren't getting made due to the limitations of length and budget meant characters and battle scenes and complexity would have to be cut so he went back to writing. And guess what that is exactly what happened when the show started, characters were cut, complexity was lost and if you remember S1 had no battle scenes because they couldn't afford them and had to ask cap in hand in S2 for an increase for Blackwater and only kept up for S5 and S6 contracts ran out for key players. Do you really think HBO would have provided the $200m that S7 and S8 would have needed to run 10 eps and that if it was available it wouldn't have been used? Yes GRRM wanted more seasons, he didn't write anything for them D+D would have had to get to what might have been seasons 10 or 11 by this year with nothing new from him while he makes money for nothing. Yes HBO wanted more channels will flog anything to death if people watch doesn't mean there business model was going to provide financing to do it properly past S9 would have been a further nightmare as cast only signed 2year extensions do you think they wouldn't have wanted more money to keep coming back? Look what happened to many of the Trek shows when budgets were were cut and ran out. D+D wanted the show to go out with a bang not a whimper like some of them did. Yes, lots of people with just as much insider knowledge that you, and I own have posted commentary but we shall noy know the real truth until someone writes an insider book or film a documentary that speaks to all sides. Dyko, arguing with you is like doing so with a 6 year old and quite frankly anyone who thinks Dyko Swackhammer is what they should post online as says it all.

Paul G

she should definitely watch the witcher, that show turning out to be boss. Can't wait for the next season. And btw the intro changes throughout the entire show, subtle though.

Marcus Carter

You should watch the Witcher next season 1 was fire and season 2 coming in a month or 2

Kraackin

That cracked me up

Jerry Gonzalez

im glad that she has seen ep3 before coz she won't be able see anythng with her "have to light my face properly" perfectionism :) when she said earlier that she has seen the best episode of season 8 i thot she was talking about episode 2... but if it was the battle it was episode 3... wow...

Krystal

"The Darkness Though..." Name of the documentary I made in my head as I watched without night vision the final season of my favorite

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Who you think will and who you want to have it :) plz, & ty

Amanda Sargent

I dunno, It was pretty decent. I mean, the mini-series was a little hokey, but Tim Curry is fantastic in everything.

Michael G. Munz

There's about 300 1980s sitcoms that would like to have a word with you.

Michael G. Munz

Thanks! That cathartic haha

RE

I'll add a shameless plug for Ted Lasso as the next show to watch.

Jordan Freemyer

production quality is still really good - music, visual effects, acting, etc.. but if you didn't like 6 or 7. well.. err.. hmm.. uhm.. arr.. meh..😂

Niall

And it took us six years to watch it, waiting for the Great War from the north, only to find out, this war only lasted 1hour of screen time!!

RebRox65

His name is John Bradley.

Gary Poussard

I watched this season in complete darkness. I was okay with the darkness, could see for the most part.

Jennifer Tremblay

Imagine boasting of your ignorance in order to pwn the "haters". Gotta love this comment section.

WackySwacky

glad I didn't read the books if it made you this miserable.

MakaPeji

She's already seen that episode. Maybe she'll already know about the brightness issue.

WackySwacky

Another Targaryen comes along in the books that has (supposedly) a better claim to the Iron Throne than Daenarys, this person is (F)Aegon (also known as Young Griff). The marriage subplot is a plot that Aegon has in the books. We don't know what Jon's story is in the books beyond his assassination. Jon's true parentage is something that will probably only comes into play after whatever transpires between Aegon and Daenarys. It's fair to say Jon got a bit of Aegon's story from the books. They even gave Show Jon the name Aegon as a nod to that storyline (which, in my opinion, doesn't actually help matters as supposedly Jon is going to have a different "true" name in the books).

WackySwacky

Id love to see her react to the netflix marvel shows, those are so character driven i can't really see her not liking them.

Heliastein

Agreed, do what you got to do to be able to see it, tho when we type that it's probably already recorded :(

Heliastein

Yeah, I was looking forward to the recap too. Then I saw that she started the intro about five minutes into the video

Ilsuk Yang

I've always just seen it as they can't willingly do it, as they also can't willingly go in the water it seems like but they can perfectly be dragged through the wall or in water. Once the wall got broken the magic was gone and then they were able to just go south.

Heliastein

I watched the whole series on my 50" TV, those episode were still dark as hell.

Daniel Vezina

No recap with Tyler? Waiting until after the finale? It'd be fun to hear his thoughts too!

Al Baughman

Actually they said the show was meant to be watched on a big screen t.v., not a small tablet or phone. With that said i watched the entire final season on my iphone. lol. and yes, the one episode she has seen will be the hardest to see for her on the laptop...

Garlicjr Made

You're gonna have to put the brightness of your screen as bright as possible for the next 2 episodes if you want to see something. Everybody was mad when it first air, 'cause they couldn't see anything. Then the producer said that the reason those who couldn't see was not their fault if people had bad TV.

Daniel Vezina

Michael, the only point you made was that I should stop treating the show like it's the worse thing ever made. 1.) I don't think it's the worse thing ever made. Never claimed to. I only claim that the show is a massive missed opportunity, and that it went in the wrong direction after season 4. 2.) What the show did do was worse than the books. Objectively. I don't think it's possible to think otherwise if you actually have read the books. The changes the showrunners made did not make sense. They did not improve the show in any way. The budgetary concerns are and always have been a lie told by show apologists. HBO would have gone on for 10 - 12 seasons. D&D always thought they knew better than the guy who wrote the story. They ignored the wishes of both George and HBO, because they were arrogant. They made all of those changes, because they thought they were right. As a result, we got an ending that's missing key pieces. It doesn't fit together properly. This is objective. People have recorded hundreds of hours of commentary about every single thing they got wrong. The ending of Game of Thrones is infamous for good reason.

WackySwacky

Completely disagree Mike.

WackySwacky

I’m allowed to “whine” about how the latter half of the series was a poor execution of the books even before the source material ran out, just as you’re allowed to whine about our opinions. That’s why they’re called opinions and it’s all subjective. I and Dyko just probably think with parts of the books they cut, the ending of the show could have been done much better. No need to get defensive or upset.

Joe Mama

"it's actually...so dark...what the fuck?" LOL

David

I actually think they made the right decision to not follow books 4 and 5 too closely. They should technically be just book 4 in terms of the timeline but had to be split because George meanders for thousands of pages with the plot barely moving. There is a bunch of padding added to just sync different character's timelines. Its disorganized enough for text, it would have been a nightmare for TV. Also, if D&D messed up the storylines after book 3 this much, they would have done an even worse job with the much more complicated and tedious storylines book 5 left with.

mike

I hope you have a sizable reaction to the overall ending whichever it is :)

Kelvin

I have read the books. More than once. But I'm not even talking about book changes. A LOT of the whiney complaints have been about plot decisions that aren't as insane as people make them out to be. Many of the complaints are much less logistical complaints and much more "I didn't get what I wanted". And I even admit that the pacing took a horrendous step back, but acting like this is the worst show or season ever made is a quick way to lose credibility with people who actually watch a lot of entertainment. People act like it's ruined somehow, yet even with the pacing issues and divisive finale, it's still a top show of all time. Always nice to have a good reminder tho that the only people more eye-rollingly insufferable than still whiney show fans are the overly pretentious think-they-know-it-all book fans, especially when they say that nonsense to people who have read every book more than once. So thanks for that, Dyko.

Michael Blankenship

Speaking of your hair, it looked especially great in the Rocky video. And wherever this is that you're filming, it looks really cozy. So.... Varys calls Tyrion on making a eunuch joke, and Tyrion's response is "because I have balls." Yeah, he definitely lost some of his edge in these last couple seasons. And as far as the ending goes.... I think we can all guess how you're gonna feel about it. I can't wait to hear what you have to say about it.

Joe Blankenship

You didn't really make a point there.

WackySwacky

Books 4 and 5 which is really just a behemoth book 4 split geographically with little character crossover, since you know so much you should know that. They didn't adapt most of it as most of it involves adding more characters on more characters and padding out his story even more with little narrative drive towards his ending which as a result of this is not forthcoming. Do remember this was supposed to have been a trilogy of books that Martin grew in the telling all these characters he added are not mentioned in his original treatment he sent to his publisher.

Paul G

@joe mama Asha was changed as they thought it could be confused with Osha. The characters had to be trimmed especially in early seasons they just didn't have the budget and once they were removed their story points were given elsewhere.

Paul G

Yeah even with not having the last two books released, the show leaving out major characters which left out important plot lines( Young Griff/fAegon, Lady Stoneheart, Dorne plot line, Blackfyres etc. ), giving plot lines to other characters for no reason (Jon/stannis) changing characters names for no reason (Asha/Yara). I could go on but the show is streamlined increasingly as the show goes on.

Joe Mama

They didn’t fuse Jon Snow and Young Griffs story in the show?

Joe Mama

I really wanted to like the boys when watching it because I loved the premise. The acting just seems super corny all around. I do love billy though obviously.

Joe Mama

Again, Paul, they did not adapt books 4 and 5. Stop with the disingenuous argument.

WackySwacky

You do know that they did not adapt books 4 and 5 right?

WackySwacky

Yet again have you seen these final books cause you're commenting like you have.

Paul Gibbons

I didn't realise you'd read Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring.

Paul G

It took them 2 years to do this season hardly a hurry.

Paul Gibbons

It's hard to convey how bad the show has gotten without pointing out how much they've deviated from the books. People who've only watched the show will feel disappointed in the ending, but only book readers know the true extant of the fuck up.

WackySwacky

Keep in mind that Aegon Targaryen is a completely different person in the books and his storyline was fused with Jon's in the show.

WackySwacky

You'd have to read the books to see how badly they've messed up. Do it or don't, but not much reason in complaining about people who have a problem with it when you can't understand what the problem is.

WackySwacky

The Expanse or Battlestar Gallatica would both be great options. The Expanse has the plus of having a new season coming out soon so there would be new content to watch together after the first 5 seasons.

WackySwacky

One of the things that angered me were these dark scenes. In a show that was so good on production values, there really is no excuse for it. But the whole thing about why the army of the dead and the Night King crossing the wall never bothered me. I always assumed that since touching Bran and marking him killed the magic that kept them out of the tree, it would also kill the magic that kept them off the wall when he crossed through it. Someone above mentioned the Horn of Joramun (Horn of Winter). Back in Season 2, Episode 8, "The Prince of Winterfell," Sam and Grenn dig up that dragon glass at the Fist of the First Men and there's a horn with it. I always hoped that was the Horn of Jaramun and would play a role.

Baron Imhoof

That was funny. :)

Tadpoleaxe

The Expanse > BSG 😁

Will Whiton

watch a YT video titled "Why show Sansa sucks"

Tadpoleaxe

One thing that was HUGE at the time of this season coming out was the massive twitter polls of "who wins the throne" the main contenders were Jon, Danny, Cersei, and the Night King. Some others that people voted for were Sansa, Aria, Tyrion, and Bran. I'd love to see your pick of who you think will win the throne before this whole thing is over!

john collins

Must watch episode 3 in the dark - we don’t need to see you, just want to be able to hear your voice reactions and commentary - it’s an okay episode to be poorly lit for - we understand. More important for you to be able to see the screen :) love the upcoming nostalgia

Amanda Sargent

Ok there is a very powerful or sentimental message been shown when Daenerys and Jon are riding the dragons I'm sure its been said in a previous episode that the only people that can ride a dragon is a Targaryen , so when jon is able to ride (Rhagar) its basically saying to us that jon is a Targaryen Also last season when we see Daenerys watch Jon able to touch a dragon she is taken back a bit Also another point ... Back in those times which are early AD times in houses Males always had the stronger claim than females Jon's father is Rhaegar which was the firstborn of the Mad King making Jon ( Agon) the true heir to the iron throne cause he is now the last and only Male the Targaryen family line

Joshua Sutton

Can't believe I'm defending season 8, but the White Walker / Wight stuff isn't inconsistent. Anything dead can be turned into a wight by the White Walkers. A dead body on the opposite side of the wall could be turned, because what they're essentially doing is warging the dead from a distance. The wall being intact is said to have "old spells" built into it that keep them from physically passing the wall - that is, just the White Walkers can't pass hence the need to control the dead on the other side. BUT, once they had something big enough to blast through the wall, "the spell" was broken. IMO the "spell" was just not having the right tools for the job.

Brandon

Must say, as excited as I am to see the end with Natalie, I'm doubly as excited to be done with the exhausting and hyperbolic whining about season 7-8. Definitely dipped from the first four seasons, but outside pacing issues (which are obvious), many of the decisions made actually made total sense. Sadly, at this point, it's been overblown to the point even Star Wars fans would say to chill.

Michael Blankenship

The best way to enjoy these last two seasons is to just acknowledge that it's about 3-4 seasons cram packed into 2 shorter seasons because the writers wanted to hurry and finish it. Btw your hair looks great!

john collins

Exactly ... I thought it would be common sense when the night king destroyed the wall with the White dragon at east watch it will destroy any Magic the Wall holds I suppose the saying " Common sense is just not that common anymore" is true

Joshua Sutton

Welcome back, Nat. Glad to watch the final season with you all. Winter is here!

Tranquil_Gnome

I would second both Chernobyl and The Expanse.

Brian Jones

Oh boy, i'm getting vietnam flashbacks

Ariel Conde

Yeah you’re probably right, well at least we can move on to something new.

RebRox65

Bit late at this point she is at least halfway through, maybe done.

Paul Gibbons

Natalie, I’m just gonna say three words and then I’ll stop! DON’T Watch IT! Well, I tried 😞 Make a point of watching the Documentary that went with this series, THE LAST WATCH honestly it my best part.

RebRox65

Happy Tuesday, Natalie! 😊 Since this is a season premiere episode I'm going to watch it right away. Really looking forward to seeing how this show wraps up. And looking forward to your reaction. Have a great day today! 😊 Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Randee Carreno

Okay with wight walkers and the wall, and Uncle benjen.... No they cannot pass through the wall of their own will **as long as it's standing; That being said, they were able to bring the wight that they caught pass the wall because they were bringing it and it wasn't traveling through on its own which prevents them kind of like cuz, with Uncle benjen he wasn't a complete wight so things are complicated with him, But once the night king destroyed the wall with the dragon all the walls magic disappeared because there was a break in the magic and he was able to do it because it wasn't him physically doing it The dragon did it by not touching it but burning it. I will admit there has been a lot of inconsistencies with these rules along the way and it did annoy me but that's the essence of them and how it should be, with Uncle benjen though And the rest of the wights That's primarily how it should be! Because of the magic from the children of the forest and bran the builder Who was the Stark and built The Wall, as well as Winterfell

Jayson Orlando

If she can view it at all. Nat, you might want to adjust your monitor settings for this season.

Luis Torrefranca

Sam's (or the actor's) acting in that scene with Dany and Jorah was just superb. He was able to convey so much and so many different emotions in less than a minute after finding out that Dany executed his father and brother.

Jerick E

Joke 1: the budget slated for the "missing" episodes from Season 7 and 8 all went into the budget for the new intro for Season 8. Joke 2: Whenever you're wondering where Ghost is, have you noticed Dany's new white fur coat?

Jerick E

If you have time Nat, go search "Jon Snow Toothless" on YouTube. Like right now!! I so wish I owned a dragon like Toothless😔 Guess I'll have to settle for an all black feline companion.

Mark Samudio

Happy thrones Tuesday Nat final season begins indeed these episodes are longer so unsure if I'm going to have time to get through it before I get picked up to go to a birthday bash but I'm going to try 🙂 looking forward to it that's for sure 💛

Ian

I second Battlestar Galactica If you want to go the super Hero route you can take a dip into the DC universe and react to Titans, it's better than most of DC's movies. Cobra Kai is also pretty popular for reactions. If you want something a bit more serious you can react to Dexter.

Matt Gwinn

My vote: Chernobyl is good, but THE EXPANSE is some of the best Science Fiction on film.

Tadpoleaxe

While the journey of Game of Thrones has been amazing with you, I am ready for you to wrap this series soon. I am really hoping that there is a poll for what will replace it - personally I am hoping for a sci-fi direction. I would be so so happy for you to react to either Battlestar Galactica or Dark - both options provide SO much discussion material that I would be interested to see you debate, as well as some of the best TV scores and sound editing. A more underrated recommendation would be Black Sails!!

codenamewitch xx

Thanks Nat for your new great reaction! 😃 Always a pleasure to see you panicking in tense moments 😈haha, your reaction with the child at the beginning was funny too (chill, you are too worried haha) and of course, the dragons moment 😄 And no need to worry about how look your hair, it was nice 👌 I can't wait to discover your next reactions and thoughts! I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

Calo Grsf

On another note, Arya's moment with Jon was so beautifully played: Arya holds back on telling Jon about just how much she's used Needle, partly because he's her last connection to a happier, more innocent time in her life, but also to protect Jon from losing that same connection. She's almost like a mother protecting her child from truths he's not ready to face.

RE

lawlZ; haven't watched *a single one* of these (ZERO) ShitShow reactions, but you bet yer Ass Imma watch the finale. If only to laugh at the disappointment AND the Maisie boob Freakout... Here's to this slot FINALLY being taken over by something actually good and not made by ShitHole racists, huh....

WellNo

I am warmer towards season eight than most people (I love the overall arc, if not always the execution), but fuck me I'd forgotten how much I disliked Sansa towards the end of the show.

RE

We shall see how you view this season... given the last four though dont got high hopes for any legitimate criticism.

H Taylor

I will say that this season of Game of Thrones, regardless of any whatever about it is very exciting certain things happen in this season that we've pretty much waited the whole show for so that's an exciting aspect of it and a lot of things happen that we're good in this season! I don't like any kind of nay saying when it comes to this show, I've learned especially with this show... You're definitely never going to please everyone, and that's a fact!

Jayson Orlando

So close to the end! Can't believe it's already come to this, time has went past far too quickly :D

Danishprince

Tip: Keep your expectations low. (And I am not even one of the fans who hated this season.)

Whovian Prakash

Measured by the quality of the beginning and this last season, adding in the degree of disappointment, it's not hyperbolic at all.

Peter Cohen

Season 1 of the Boys was really good, season 2 was almost as bad as GoT S8. I'd recommend these shows: - True Detective S1 - Devs - Band of Brothers - Chernobyl - From the Earth to the Moon - The Night Manager - The Little Drummer Girl - Y: The Last Man (only 3 episodes out so far, but it's looking good!)

Henkan

Probably. But the earlier seasons are some of my favourite ever whereas this crapshow of a final season ruined the entire show for me

ButtyOh

I'd say It's debatable but he ain't to far off,

Lomino

Shameless plug for The Boys being the next show you tackle. Great reaction as always.

Brian Jones

Hyperbolic much?

Brian Jones

Time to start One of the worst seasons of a tv show in the history of tv

ButtyOh

Great stuff Nat. Can't believe we are her already and starting on the final season. You posted the very first episode on Feb. 23rd. Wow. Yeah, taking the dragons out on a flight of fancy on empty stomachs did seem rather cruel 😵 Thanks for today's video Nat 💛
