Rewrite the Stars || BTS2

Hello! Welcome to the second Behind The Scenes, where I just share the WIPs, outlines, and some of my thoughts as I drew pages 3 and 4.

The outlines for these changed a little bit as I sat down and decided to draw them.

PAGE 3
> Small talk between the two, little tense. Reminder to the audience that they're both secretely in love with each other. She's showing off a little, trying to get a reaction from him, he's embarrased.

PAGE 4
> Rita shows up and tells Lynn to stop teasing her brother. Reminds them they're gonna be late. Tells Lynn she's the oldest, she needs to be more responsible and set an example for her younger brother. Lincoln leaves to let her get ready. Lynn gets embarrassed and mentally complains about letting another chance pass between them.

I decided to focus less on "tense" talk (in the sense that they were trying really hard to act normal) and just make them flustered and incapable of focusing due to the other person being around them. The panels with a "love vision" background, as my friend TheSiegePerilous pointed out, definitely sell the picture that they're in love with each other.

I also left the "she's showing off" out of it, and instead implied it later on Page 4 through Rita's dialogue. But before moving on to that page, let's take a look at the sketch for Page 3.

First off, WHAT IS WRONG WITH LINCOLN'S POSE IN THE FIRST PANEL?! I was trying to make it somewhat fluid, but the sketch turned out awful hahaha. Hilarious, though, I loved it. Some may have noticed that I gave some changes to Lincoln's room on page 1. Changed the Amazing Space poster for one of David Steele, added the magic trophy from the movie, and added a Nintendo Switch... Little changes cause, naturally, he's older. And I decided to do the same with Lynn and Lucy's room but made it more subtle.

I simply put some shelves on her bedroom wall and filled them with trophies. Soccer fans may have recognized that the trophies are, from left to right: Best Young Player at a FIFA World Cup, Ballon d'Or (Golden Ball, for the best player in the world), Adidas' Golden Ball (best player at FIFA World Cup), and the FIFA World Cup trophy itself. In case you don't know, I'm from Argentina, and Argentina won the World Cup a month ago, so yeah lmao

Oh! And there's one last trophy Lynn keeps in the shelve: a picture of her and Lincoln doing her luck rituals at home. The headcanon here is that, on that day, Lynn's team won the championship. That's the excuse for why she has it framed, but if you've read the last issue of the comic, you know that under that sweater was when they realized they had feelings for each other.

You can also see the little sparkles I added to the sketch in the middle panels to show they were in love. I considered doing the stars' background but thought the final version would look better this way. No need to keep pushing the motif when it's not necessary.

Alright, but let's get going with Page 4!

Not much to add to this one, I suppose. TheSiegePerilous helped me trim down the dialogue to convey as much as possible in a few sentences, which is a big problem. I tend to be super long-winded, and a comic requires expediency. Not my forte, exactly.

The main idea was for Rita to tell Lynn that she can't keep teasing her brother. Rita just imagines that Lynn likes to show off her athletic, recently-developed body, but Lynn knows better.

And then there's the reveal of Lucy in the last panel, which I think looks pretty cool! Kinda cinematic! And it's not only in character for Lucy to stay ignored, but also reinforces that Lynn and Lincoln pretty much forget about the world around them when they're together. But now she's been there, and she saw what happened. Will that be important later on? I don't know, guess we'll have to wait and see!

These pages were very fun to draw, especially the background. I like drawing backgrounds. Probably my architecture studies telling me to pay attention to the perspective and whatnot.
