This was one of my favorite movies and I took a road trip from Southern California to visit the filming locations in Astoria, Cannon Beach, and Ecola State Park in 2010 on my 34th birthday. It has been awhile since I have been up in that area, might have to make another road trip that way again soon. There are deleted scenes where Andy makes the pledge and becomes a member of the Goonies and you also see the octopus fight that Data mentions to the reporter.

David Lonewolf Wright

lol 😂

Shaun Myers

Also, Mouth's name is Clarke. Walsh is the last name of Brand (Brandon) and Mikey (Michael). The other kids were Mouth (Clarke), Chunk (Lawrence), Data (Richard), Steph (Stephanie), and Andy (Andrea)

Oouga

Sean Astin (Mikey) was not using a cue care. He was doing it from memory. Richard Donner told him the story and had Sean recite what he could remember because Sean had trouble with his lines. He has a very bad stutter when he's nervous. He played Sawmsie Gamgee in lord of the Rings.

Oouga

Good stuff Nat

David Miles

Hey Natalie you do know the older brother is Josh brolin a.k.a. Thanos?

asia roberson

haha...They're calling Feldman "Mouth" the whole movie and Nat keeps on calling him Walsh....

Guy-on-Couch

"Hey you guys" was from The Electric Company, a children's show in the 70s.

pedantech

Surprised you didn't notice Thanos, Josh Brolin.

Desmond King Descepticon

"Monster Squad" is an excellent suggestion! Definitely complimentary to this film and a nice fit for Natmares.

Matthew

Yes it's Clark Devereaux.

Paul G

Yeah, I kept wonder where the heck she got the idea his name was Walsh. I actually thought his name was Clark though, isn't that what Mikey and Brand's mom called him?

YodatheHobbit

I caught the "walsh" thing too. Mouth's real name is Walter.

Yes, you DEFINITLY drove though Astoria on your way up the Oregon/Washington coastline. One little continuity error is that they keep referencing/showing Haystack Rock from Cannon Beach but the movie takes place in Astoria - which are not terribly close to each other - at least not in terms of kids on a casual bike ride. You can drive by the 'Goonie House' in Astoria. It was purchased some time ago by a family and at the time were told it was a popular tourist sight. The family got tired of all the people hanging around their home, they at one point covered the house with ugly blue tarps and put up a bunch of no trespassing signs to discourage visitors. The jail at the very beginning of the movie (another popular Goonie attraction in Astoria) was turned into a museum about movies filmed in the Northwest - including The Goonies! The Inferno (the pirate ship was created in secret and kept from the cast. The scene where they see it the first time is almost a genuine reaction. The director intended it to be a surprise but while filming the reaction, the kids swore too much and had to be shot again.) was sadly destroyed after nobody wanted it when filming was over. (I don't remember being asked...). Also, I thought it was funny that you kept calling Mouth 'Walsh'. Walsh is Brand and Mikey's last name. - (I'm one of your Portland, Oregon fans!)

Emily Smith

Thanos and Sam/Rudy! What’s a cast

Steven

This movie came out when I was a year or two younger than the main characters, and it is definitely a defining film for my childhood. It's just always kind of existed for me, so it was really interesting watching it alongside someone who grew up without it being a part of their lives. A lot of fun and glad you enjoyed it!

Gary Giaimo

You made me watch for the 2nd time -- i really didn't dig it that well in the original theatrical release. (I'm old, and my eyes are bent.) Your wide-open mind and heart helped me enjoy it far more this time! You are providing a real service to us all! Zero need to apologise for a less-than-terrifying show in September OR in October! The entertainment value of watching you scared out of your substantial wits is NEVER more important than your well-being! Anyone that wants to see you frightened into needing professional counselling shouldn't even be here! Take care of you! You are at least 20% of what the 'modern' internet still has to offer of any genuine value! Please don't burn out or fuel actual nightmares to keep us interested! Okay. Doting FanBoy rant pauses. This film always makes me smile :) Introduced my daughter to it last year (when she was 9) and she adored it too :)

Ryan Pascall

Great reaction! It's been YEARS since I've watched this, but I watched it many times when I was a kid. The fat jokes and Sloth definitely wouldn't fly these days, but most of the rest of the movie wouldn't be too out of place. Also funny "a couple of rubies" must be REALLY worth a lot of money to save the whole town.

Chris Lane- Venturi 3D

Great reaction Nat. I enjoyed watching this one with you. I was never a real die hard fan of this movie as I was already a teenager by the time this came out, so it wasn't really geared toward my age group. Still a classic though and was fun to revisit.

Brian Jones

I've been in the audience of a couple of episodes of "Conan" and it's the same studio where this movie was filmed at WB.

YodatheHobbit

She was even in Mosquito Coast with River Phoenix, which I recommend as one of Harrison Ford's most interesting roles (to me anyway).

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Holy... I can't believe I didn't think to suggest "Monster Squad" for a Natmares movie! If you like this you'll probably like Monster Squad, and it's perfect for the theme! This movie honestly kind of made me who I am lol, always down for an adventure. It's one of the very first movies my mom took me to see and from then on I just remember me and the other kids in the neighborhood were riding our bikes in packs looking for or creating our own little adventures, exploring the sewers with flashlights and skateboards (because you can use it like a mechanic's creeper through the smaller spaces etc; so lucky no water was coming through that tunnel at the time or we would probably have died lol, 80s/90s kids). And some of the older kids had built a three or four level tree house in a big eucalyptus tree behind the grocery store, it was awesome. Someone had to show you where it was, and this thing was like the Swiss Family Robinson tree house, like it was added on to by successive generations of kids, there were ladders and ropes and even a crows nest (lookout point), I swear to God. Eventually it was torn down by the city of course, my little town was really fun back then, but this was before we had entertainment constantly at our finger tips, we had to invent our own. But then again my dad's generation used to make a day out of a used tire and a hill 😂 This was such a fun movie then and now 💜 I was really hoping they would film that sequel they were planning, but Richard Donner died recently and I never heard anything more about it. The cast (kids with Donner) did the commentary for the DVD extras and they looked great (especially Kerri Green haha, Andy aged well and still looks nothing like Chester Copperpot). Also thank God they left the octopus scene on the cutting floor, that horrendous affront the final movie, Data mentions it at the end and they worked it in weirdly, but it would have made this a G movie withe a few swear words, cartoonish.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

❤d it, that was so much fun to re-watch with you!

Mike H

In fairness, he is a lot shorter and less purple in Goonies than as Thanos, so it's easy to not recognise him.

Misty Crom

"They had to roll down the window because it's the 80s, that's hilarious". Well now I feel old! You did miss a Gremlins reference when Chunk called the police and the cop was going through the other times he'd 'cried wolf'.

Misty Crom

If you like young Sean Astin, you should check out the movie "Rudy".

Greg McDaniel

That and maybe karate kid as well

Michael MacDonagh

I haven’t seen this movie in 30 years easily and honestly, I’d forgotten how fun it is! You’re absolutely right, it’s a ride. But oddly of it’s time and timeless. Every kid dreams of having an adventure like this with friends and the fun of the adventure. But just enough serious to keep it from getting saccharine. I’d also forgotten about Kerri Green! She was such a crush for so many between Lucas and this movie. But seriously, this is a loaded movie between Astin, Brolin, Feldman, Plimpton… oh I could run the whole cast. Just… fun. Thanks for reminding me. Still golden.

Matthew Periolat

Mikey Walsh and Mouth are different people.

Doug Watson

THANOS! And cable.

PickettsChargingPort

As others have mentioned, you missed Josh Brolin being Thanos in the MCU plus another character once you get to Deadpool 2. Sloth was played by former Oakland Raider John Matuszak. Martha Plimpton (Stef) was never a major star but it seemed like she was in just about everything in the 80s and 90s.

JayF

No she did Origins.

Paul G

Fun fact--he stole the fedora from the set of Indiana Jones

Ben Wheeler

I missed it too until the credits rolled. Of course it’s been a few decades since I last watched this movie.

David Holmes

Such a fun reaction! I haven't seen this movie in years so it was great to revisit it with you!

john collins

I totally support a first time watching of Fight Club! I LOVE Money Heist! I just finished watching the entire thing (so far) and SUPER enjoyed it! My only worry about her watching that is, is that it's in Spanish and some of the people on Patreon may not dig that. I friggin loved that show though! It was so darn gripping and thrilling! Season 5's cut off in the middle and won't continue until early next year but whatever, it's all good. So yeah, Natalie I'm with Libardo - PLEASE CONSIDER Money Heist! :)

Logan Kerlee

She said in the latest X-Men reaction that the series is on temporary hold while she's doing Natmares 2. Don't know if you skipped the Origins reactions or something

Danishprince

I had never seen this movie before and I am so glad you watched it or I might never have seen it.. It was amazing! So enjoyable and just a fantastic kids adventure :D

Danishprince

Ooh, you'll enjoy it! :)

Logan Kerlee

Watch this movie, it'll help cheer you up.

Logan Kerlee

I had SO MUCH FUN watching this again! xD It was made better, watching it with you Natalie. :) Really, watching it with someone else that's seeing it for the first time is a treasure. Loved seeing your reactions to things throughout. Thank you so much for finally seeing this movie! This is a childhood fave for me. I'm from the Pacific Northwest and each time I watch this it's like I'm going back in time but in my area. It's super neat! Glad that you enjoyed it as well.

Logan Kerlee

The reason the Car scene with Brad being held against the car. It would be used again in Back to the Future, which is probably why it looked familar

Matt Culture

Most of the clarifying bits were already said (aside from Mouth not being named Walsh (that was Brand and Mikey’s last name). Fun info: Jeff Cohen (Chunk) was student body president at Berkeley and would do the Truffle Shuffle at football games.

Ian Forbes

I loved this movie so much as a kid that my Mom bought me the Goonies Nintendo game as a gift. It was soooooo bad but I pretended to like it so I wouldn't make her feel bad

It Hurt A Lot

Yes resuming after the Natmares season.

Paul G

She mentioned she was going to take a break from them for the Halloween season. She might do them after Halloween and before the Holiday season. I seem to remember her waiting until the new year to continue MCU last year.

Eric H

Weren’t we doing the Xmen series at one point?

Michael Blankenship

Looks like you didn't recognize Thanos (Josh Brolin). Lovely reaction! I would like to see you react to "Fight Club" if you haven't seen it, and Money Heist (A TV series from spain in Netflix).

Libardo Torres

Fun fact: Red Dawn was the first movie to get the PG-13 rating in 1984.

Joe Blankenship

I also missed this one as a child and found it in my mid 20s =)

Garlicjr Made

happy friday nat hope youve had a fantastic week , reading the description it looks like you really enjoyed this movie and lets be honest its so heartwarming how could you not right :) sloth is just wonderful and i cant wait to enjoy this along with you but its gotta wait until tomorrow as im not about this evening , thankyou as always for your amazing reactions this week , have a wonderful weekend and until the next one stay golden 💛

Ian

Hi and Happy Friday Reaction Nat! An amazing reaction before the beginning of the Natmare Season 2 😄 So cosy and so funny to rewatch this film with you haha, and of course I hope you'll react to other films in the same vibe 😁 I really can't wait to start the next Natmare season, it'll be epic haha I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden as you are! 💛

Calo Grsf

Yes but they were so overwhelmed on first take they had to shoot it again anyway.

Paul Gibbons

This was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and it remains so to this day. I'm so glad I got to experience you watching it for the first time. Some of it is a little silly, but the movie has so much heart. For the DVD release, they did a commentary track with the director and all of the kids, and you could tell how much they enjoyed making the movie.

Patrick Egan

Probably the most famous story about the making of this movie is that they didn't let the kids see the pirate ship before shooting the scene where they see it for the first time. The director wanted to get their genuine reactions. And fun fact: Josh Brolin plays Cable in Deadpool 2, which is why there's a moment where Deadpol says to him, "Bring it on, One-Eyed Willie" :)

Patrick Egan

Never watched The Goonies before. Looking forward to watching later on!

Ahadi Gitau

I always forget that the older brother is played by Thanos (Josh Brolin)

ButtyOh

One of my favorites. Good choice. Richard Donner was the type of director that everyone loved, and this movie was no exception for him and the cast.

Jomero

Ayyyyyy yoooouuu guuuuyyyyss!

Joe Blankenship

I think she said the next part wont be until after Natmares

Joshua Reynolds

When are we going to continue with the X-men universe and First Class or did you decide to stop watching them? It's been three weeks since Origin...

DarkJokester

Happy Feature Friday, Natalie! 😊 Downloading this right now so that I can watch it later tonight. This is such a fun movie! One of my favorites. Fun Fact about 2 of the actors: Ke Huy Quan who plays Data is the actor who plays Short Round in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom". And Josh Brolin who plays Brandon, of course grew up to play Thanos in "Avengers: Infinity War" & "Avengers: Endgame". 😊 I'll always remember the character of Sloth used to creep me out as a kid growing up in the 80s. LOL! I'm excited to watch this reaction this evening. Have a great day & weekend! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Randee Carreno

Aw for Crap's sake; this month really sucks, siiiiiiigh...ugh

WellNo

Hey you guys! Been really looking forward to watching this with you Nat, and I knew you would recognise the location after you'd been there on your road trip recently. I think it has the perfect amount of spookiness to ease you into Natmare Season😊 You had a lot of fun with this movie and it was a blast watching along with you. Dave Grusin's score compliments the movie perfectly. The octopus that Data mentions at the end is in a deleted scene. It attacks them before they board the pirate ship, and Data gives it his boombox and it boogies away. Sloth's Superman shirt is an easter egg too, as the director Richard Donner also directed Superman The Movie. Thanks for an awesome video today Nat, it was a real treat, and thanks as always for your fantastic work this week. Have an amazing weekend Nat 💛

Darryl Low

This brings back childhood memories

Daniel Green

What...how can anyone not have seen the Goonies....I mean it has Samwise Gamgee and Thanos being brothers. :)
