This movie absolutely devastated me. It was so beautiful and I think it's cemented itself on my top 10 list. But it's going to take a while for me to recover from it...that's for sure.

I saw this movie in theaters and I was a little bit afraid to rewatch it, as I remember being a sobbing mess coming out of the theater back in 2006. That final scene where the tanks are pummeling the building and everything goes quiet for Kee and the baby for a brief moment was incredibly powerful in the theater audio system. It's crazy to me that Cuaron put out this movie and Pan's Labyrinth in the same year. One is a fantasy parable set against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War, the other is a near future dystopia, but both are about the perseverance of the human spirit despite the depth we can fall to when things get hard. He's such an incredible director.
