The great tragedy of Syril is, if he'd been born anywhere other than under direct Empire rule, he'd be a hero of the rebellion. He truly thought he was doing the right thing, he was just misled his entire life

2025-09-24 10:44:21 +0000 UTC"Who are you?" Syril dies unceremoniously. The last shot of the episode is one tear from his mother who will be the only person to remember he ever even existed, the only one who ever really cared that he did. Of all the thoughtful and exacting commentary this show makes, this is one of the most hard hitting. History is littered with angry, lonely men who simp for fascists, chasing a facade of greater purpose only to be chewed up and tossed aside like meat after their usefulness is over, to then be forever forgotten in time. Very much still happens today. They are the fuel that run the engine of fascism and dictatorships.

2025-09-10 07:35:48 +0000 UTCThe thing which really hits me know, which I didn't realize upon first viewing, is that Cassian cries once he's heard Wilmon's voice on the radio and knows he's made it to Dreena. I had a TON of fruit flies in my home last year, this year very few. I could be wrong, but I think they might be attracted to dust and teeny particles of food/sugar in that dust, because I used to have multiple hard to clean surfaces in my room last year, the more items, the more surfaces, and now I only have a few basic things and less surfaces to clean due to moving soon.

2025-09-10 02:59:51 +0000 UTCThe way they built the tension is just astounding. We know it's coming. We've known it's coming since episode 1 of this season. We know it's sad and heartbreaking before any of it starts. Yet the feeling of tension still rises and rises throughout the episode until the breaking point. And knowing the Empire fired the first shot against their own troops isn't surprising. Just another atrocity. And knowing that it has happened in our own history more than once makes it all the more horrifying and sad. Gotta give it to Syril. His sense of order and anti-corruption somehow make him a sympathetic character no matter how bad he really is. The fact that he obsessed over Cassian for years to find out when he finally confronted him Cassian didn't even remember him or know him was poetic justice. And Dedra, despite having misgivings about the plan was still all in for the Empire. Losing Syril because she did her duty was a bit of justice for her character as well. What an amazing episode. Haunting and horrifying yet beautifully done.

2025-09-09 00:53:28 +0000 UTCReal heartbreaking episode. The way they chant βthe galaxy is watching!β like people will speak up for them or come to their aid, not knowing the propaganda being peddled against themβ¦ ugh Syril came into that fight ANGRY, Cassian was in that fight CONFUSED π βwho are you?β Being the final insult to Syril, whoβs spent years obsessing over Cassians every move to finally having his nemesis in his sight, and Cassian doesnβt even remember him (if they even met face to face?) π
