Mack tries on his big sister's old bows from when she was younger. She's in her mid-30s now, so these are about to go to Goodwill. Suddenly, Mack feels the time around him slow down and the year is now 2008! The first iPhone had just hit the market with the second being announced shortly thereafter. MTV's "Fat Camp" is playing on cable TV, Flo Rida's "Low" is on the radio all the time, tween girls are swooning over the Jonas Brothers as Disney makes a big push for live action tween TV, and the original Nintendo Wii's growing game lineup is making everybody drool!
And of course! The emo/scene trend is gaining traction quickly among the older teens and early 20s crowd! Big teased and dyed hair, heavy eye makeup and black clothing juxtaposed against bright neons! People bought digital cameras specifically to perfect the OG mirror selfie to post onto their Myspace.
What a time to be alive!
Alas, I was too young to even understand the trend but my mind remembers the neon colours and wanting to dress like that!
