Hi Brad, Thank you for the video idea on comparing tire patch repair products. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

I have about a 25% success rate on patching bicycle tubes, so certainly could benefit from a comparison of patches. And that should be a relatively inexpensive test.

Brad Teubner

Hi Kevin, I just looked at the Amazon and Mobil 1 annual performance and the content is appears to between the 2 oils. For example, Amazon has a TBN of 7.5 and Mobil 1 Annual Protection has a TBN of 8. Thanks, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Hmm the Amazon report is exactly the same on the right column as the Mobil 1. An error?

Kevin Kissack

Thank you very much!

Project Farm LLC

great stuff really love the videos

Hi Mark, I need to check out Eric Henry's video. There might be certain things, such as heating the fuel, which may improve efficiency. Thanks and best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Hello, Sorry not sure what the gentleman's name is who was on the video. I am speaking of the clip on "getting an engine to run on vapors." I think you did a very professional job. I'm not surprised it worked as the only state that will burn is a gas but what surprised me like yourself is that it didn't seem to get any better economy. I can't understand how it wouldn't! Maybe it's because it's a vapor not a gas? Not sure but it is interesting. If something is being drawn off as a vapor instead of a liquid you would think it would take a lot longer to be consumed. There is another person, Eric Henry who talks about the same concept. He claims that it does work. I mention his name because like you he seems to be treating the whole situation from a professional point of view. Have you seen his video? "one simple trick to get 100 miles per gallon with less pollution". Please check it out? Thanks! Mark Smith.

Thanks again and best regards, Todd

Hi Russell, Thank you very much for supporting the channel! It helps a lot. I'm not sure if you've seen the video I published on RESTORE. I used it in my old Ford 5000 diesel tractor with great results. I plan to use it at every oil change as long as I own the tractor but I should do more testing. Also, I really like the car finish testing. Summer is here and a full summer of UV exposure will put products to the test!

Project Farm LLC

Todd, I enjoy your product testing videos at the Project Farm and appreciate the effort you put into devising uniform test procedures, providing useful data on results and remaining objective while testing. I contributed some funds to your Patreon account as a token of appreciation and wish you well this year in your work. I have a suggestion for two tests, one a leak-stop and the other a car finish. Each of course claims to be the best and most reviews rate them highly. Then there are the negative reviews and the counter-claims. • Torque Detail’s Mirror Shine is the example of counter-claims. You Tube ads show the bottle sliding off the car with almost no effort on the part of the car owner and the shine is really quite good. The stuff is expensive and counter-claims are made that other products last longer. o Competitive products include: Top Coat F-11, Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer, Torque Detail’s own Ceramic Spray • RESTORE Engine Restorer & Lubricant 8-Cylinder Formula is the example of negative reviews telling of engines being ruined by this claimed best-of-breed product. The 5-star ratings far outweigh the negatives but if the negative ratings hold any value, they would say the risk of a failure with Restore far outweighs the value of success. It claims, “RESTORE Engine Restorer & Lubricant 8-Cylinder Formula repairs the seal between piston rings and cylinder wall to restore compression to near original levels. Use in older high-mileage engines to restore engine power, reduce oil consumption, and extend engine life.” Positive reviews far outweigh the negatives but, read the negative reviews and you have to wonder. I tried to copy some of the reviews here but that is not possible as far as I can see. Take a look on Amazon . Restore doesn’t appear to be a miracle cleaning product like BG44 or Sea Foam but it claims to stop leaks. What kind of leaks will it stop? Gaskets, “O”-rings, damaged rings? It might make some interesting videos. Thanks again

Russell Boehm

Hi David, I have not tried doing this. It's a very interesting idea. Thank you!

Project Farm LLC

Have you ever tried increasing fuel economy on your engines with the HHO/Brown’s Gas kits? I would like to know it the truly do increase fuel efficiency and see if the are worth the effort.

David Moore

Hi Mark, My choice would be vegetable oil or a 50/50 mix of kerosene and vegetable oil if serving as emergency fuel in the winter. Straight kerosene might work fine but it typically doesn't have the same lubrication properties as diesel and straight kerosene can be hard on the injection pump. Just my opinion and hope this helps. Regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Don't know if this is your wheelhouse, but I'm looking for a safe emergency fuel to put a gallon or so in the trunk of my Jetta TDI diesel in case I run out. I have heard I can use cooking oil (used or new) or kerosene, but I don't know. If you have a way of testing that it would be cool. Or is there any other fuel alternative that may work? Maybe I'll just put a gallon of diesel in a good container that won't leak.

Mark Jolley

Thank you for this information and for the video idea!

Project Farm LLC

Sorry that's rubber not tuber and alcohol not alcoa.

Harry Myer

I rebuilt my bug eye sprites brakes and hydro clutch in 1963. I asked my dad to bring home some hydrolic fluid, he did and it caused all tuber pieces in the system to swell, job ruined. I only know some hydrolic fluids are Alcoa based while others are petroleum based, the boiling points are critical in brake fluid. Lesson learned, only use what is listed on the cap or hand book!

Harry Myer

Grovermatic, Thank you for the positive comments. Also, thanks for the video idea on testing the differences between brake, ATF, and power steering fluid! Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

That is fantastic news Todd. Congratulations! If anyone deserves recognition, it's you and your unwavering integrity. Truly a rare virtue nowadays. One thing I've always wondered: what is the difference between brake, power steering, and automatic transmission fluids? I'm thinking not so much of a competition, but rather a side-by-side battery of tests just to compare and contrast their differing properties.

grovermatic

Thank you! It is possible but would require quite a bit of modification. Thanks again

Project Farm LLC

Hello I like your video from youtube, watching at your video and wondering if it is possible to start a small engine to rotate other side - would it work

duovis

Ham Radio Guy, Thank you very much for supporting the channel and thank you very much for the positive comments! Those are both terrific video ideas! I'll publish a video on drywall anchor testing in 3-4 weeks, testing both tensile and shear strength. Thanks again and best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Mr Todd, I just joined your Patreon after watching and enjoying your product testing videos. The one that did it for me was the nail and screw holding power test. Really eye opening. I used to work at a lawn and garden shop in my youth and we used to beat the snot out of our trade in scrap mowers. I was always amazed at how much abuse a small engine could withstand and still start and run. And yet customers would always bring in seized up mowers with brand new oil claiming that it "just stopped running." The new oil was added after the fact to show that there was actually oil in the crankcase when the engine seized. Short-block time! My suggestion for a test is to fill the cooling fins of a small engine with dirt, oil, grass and mud to demonstrate how hot your poor little engine gets without proper cooling. My second suggestion is to show how hard an engine is to start and run on old stale gas (older than 6 months to a year). This was our number one trouble call. Thanks and keep up the fantastic work.

Ham Radio Guy

There is one that seized and didn't throw a connecting rod like the rest. I'm using it on a water pump and it works fine.

Project Farm LLC

Do any of the engines that you tested still work

Maverick Blankenship

Thank you. I tested Bestline a while back and it did perform extremely well on the tester. From what I understand, it is a "chlorinated" additive. So, I don't know how the additive performs after being exposed to heat for an extensive period of time or if it breaks down at all. Thanks again.

Project Farm LLC

On engine additives... How about Bestline? They make both gas and diesel as well as a powertrain one that is supposed to help xmsns, power steering and water pumps (if you can believe that, adding an oil type additive to your coolant)?? I watched a video this guy did using a weighted bearing device like you had (lubricity meter)?? He first tested I think reg oil, then perhaps full synthetic, and perhaps an additive like Slick 50 or Moly, then the Bestline. All eventually stopped the machine and had noticeable wear except for the Bestline. It had very little wear and I don't think he was able to seize the tester?

Kirk Eckelberger

Thank you very much for the constructive feedback. Finding a method of presenting data that appeals to an audience is indeed very challenging. I'll try to improve in the areas you've identified. I appreciate the constructive feedback. It helps me improve. Thanks again and best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Thank you for the recent tests of rechargeable batteries. I have purchased a few and enjoy seeing how they stack up and if they're as good as advertised. In some of your videos, I fall behind during your data analysis. May I respectfully ask you to consider two ideas. Ignore them if you think they aren't helpful, because you're still doing a great job and who am I to interfere? 1. Show the bar graphs again at the end of the video, so the viewer can pause and consider them. I can't interpret a graph with simultaneous voiceover and retain much information from either. 2. Use fewer significant digits. I can't hold many digits in my head, and with a number like 1923 mAh the 19 is far more important than the 23. A single test of a single item on consumer-grade testing equipment probably does not justify the implied exactitude in a reading with four significant digits. For example, say one battery scores 1987 and the other scores 2004. I think it's prudent to consider them "about the same," and not rank them based on a difference of 8 parts in a thousand. A reading on another day, on another meter, in different weather, might put them in the other order--who knows? Sorry this is so wordy; thanks again for your all your work.

Continental Breakfast

Chapel, Thank you very much! I've learned a tremendous amount about products from the testing and it has really influenced my buying decisions too. I hope the videos help a lot of others as well. Thanks again!

Project Farm LLC

I've recently heard of the corrosive and rust inhibition of a product call "CorrosionX" and would love to see you do tests on this and similar products. Keep up the good work.

Chapel Eastland

Your work is very informative. I have made several purchases after watching the results you provide as well as stopped buying some products that weren't as good as their advertising.

Chapel Eastland

Hi Steven, Thank you for the constructive feedback. Could you please look at the video again and let me know if you see the captions or comments on the screen during that part of the video? The video includes captions informing the viewers of the actual results and that I mixed up the results. The captions correct the error. Other viewers informed me that they did see the captions. Thanks again and best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Can you redo the test so your real results are seen

Steven Fischer

Hert was to be heet not hert

Steven Fischer

Heet not heart

Steven Fischer

When you did the rubbing alcohol and yellow heet and seafoam test when the last test was the rubbing alcohol and heet you forgot to remember the heart was put in the rubbing alcohol cup and the rubbing alcohol in the heet cup and the winner should of been hert not rubbing alcohol u mixed up the cups and products heet wins not the rubbing alcohol

Steven Fischer

Hi Austin, Thank you very much! On the GM 5.3, piston slap normally goes away after the vehicle has warmed up a little. Is this the case with your Tahoe or does the noise continue even after it's warmed up? Thanks, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Thank you for the videos! What do you recommend to treat a possible piston slap or knocking lifter in a 2004 Tahoe; until replacement is available?

Austin Boyd

Thank you very much for the recommendation on Smooth-On metal set. Thanks for the information on Nuts-off too. Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

I was watching the show about epoxy i have one better than JB weld, it is called "Smooth-On", metal set. It is Industrial and Military grade epoxy. It comes in 2 parts. it can be tapped, drilled, and has a temperature rating of over 3000 degrees F. I have used this product on several application for cars, on heads and exhaust systems. The Company is Smooth-On Inc., 2000 St.John Street,Easton, Pa. , 18042 610-252-5800. also Try a product loosen seized nuts and bolts called (no joke) "Nuts-Off", also industrial grade

mike grieco

Jiffy has a a additive it's called e x p one and it said its better then Luke's and 1 bottle to 5 qs please do this additive

Mrmatthew David

Hi Travis, Thank you very much for the positive comments. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Project Farm LLC

I love your channel and I want to take this chance to thank you for showing me what additives are best for my engines in which penetrating oil is the best it has saved me several times and I really appreciate all that you do you have a wonderful day and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Travis Stratton

Hi Travis, That's a great video idea! Thank you. Regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

I've always been curious on which weight of oil is the best for protection rather it be Heat or cold but I've never been able to just tear down truck engines and figure out which oil is best I've ran 0w20 to 20w50 ran much better with the thicker oil but what kind of damage could be done in cold temperatures is it possible to have damage because it's thick oil

Travis Stratton

Hi Ivor, This is a very innovative way to get an engine to run on Kerosene. Impressive setup! Thanks, Todd

Project Farm LLC

When I lived in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, we had economic sanctions which brought on fuel rationing, for my Honda 50 I received 10 liters per month, kerosene being a non rationed fuel is what we used as a substitute. What we did was preheat the kerosene by wrapping a copper tube around the exhaust before the carburetor, starting was with gasoline, once warm transfer to kerosene, so a two tank system, we did what we had to to keep mobile.

Ivor Scruton

Hi Evan, Thank you very much for the positive comments. A friend from North Dakota sent the crude oil to me but I'm sure the "sour" crude oil is very cheap compared to pump gasoline. The biggest down side of using it is the hydrogen sulfide content, which can pose a health risk of exposure levels are high enough. Also, great video idea on converting a lawnmower to propane! Thanks again, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Hey Todd I love your videos being a small engine repair guy I find it pretty neat. Had couple ideas ur crude oil episode out of curious ty what would be the economy on using it as gasoline. Also I'm a propane tech so I got curious and converted my pushmower to lp. Personally I think it gets awesome fuel economy but would be neat to see u do an episode on propane powered mowers. Thanks keep up good work evan

Evan Styer

Hi James, Thank you very much for the positive comment and I wish you and your family many Blessings! Best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Hi Karl, Thank you very much for supporting the channel. It really helps a lot. Also, thank you for the video idea. You are right, it seems like Wurth HHS2000 might work as engine oil, since it has a splash lubrication system. I wish you and your family the best as well. Thanks again and best regards, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Hey Todd! I have been subscribed to your channel on YouTube for probably a year or so. What I have learned and gained in knowledge money cannot buy, thus I hope my $5 monthly helps you out, it is the least I can do in return. I live in Namibia (Africa) and here we have a product from Würth called HHS2000. This is a liquid similar to WD40 except it becomes sticky after 10 minutes. So I thought to myself, could one 500ml can be used to lubricate a small engine? Reason why I think this might work is due to a small engine not really having an oil pump or oil pressure, but rather a splash style lubrication system, the liquid will splash onto the bearings and then become sticky and stay there. Or well, that is the idea atleast. Anyways, hope you and your family are well and good luck with your videos in the future!

Karl-Heinz Eisenberg

Thanks so much for the long hours you spend providing us with great in depth reviews...Blessings to you & your family!

James L Good

Hi Johnny, how are you?

Project Farm LLC

I really like the idea of testing chainsaw bars and chains. I'm trying to figure out a scientific testing strategy. I've had the same issues with chainsaw chains and bars not holding up well. Some of it is my fault but my Husquvarna 455 rancher dulls chains quickly. Thanks again.

Project Farm LLC

Love this channel! Thanks for branching out into tests of string trimmer accessories. Do you ever think of brutalizing OEM and aftermarket chainsaw chains/bars? I have hit asphalt pavement, steel fasteners, dirt and the rocks that come with it, fencing wire, and embeded nails with my saw. I have also had the oil run low until the chain throws sparks along the bar. Wonder which teeth work best after such overheating, which chain is likeliest to separate under trauma, which bars are hardest to damage....

Continental Breakfast

Bryce, Thank you very much for the positive comment and thanks for supporting the channel!

Project Farm LLC

Best channel on YouTube!

Bryce Earl Crousore

Also, thanks for the idea on comparing gasoline additives in a direct injected engines.

Project Farm LLC

Matthew, I really like the video idea on acetone added to fuel. In speaking with a contact who works at a refinery, he said that mixing acetone with non-ethanol fuel helps a lot. I'd really like to test this soon.

Project Farm LLC

Hello, I have enjoyed your videos on gasoline additives. I really like Marvel Mystery Oil and use it quite often.... I would love to see a video comparing SeaFoam, Marvel Mystery oil for direct injection engines, and 100% straight acetone from a hardware store. I use acetone in my gas all the time. It not only increases my mpg but also seems to help idling and acceleration. I use 2.5 ounces per ten gallons of gas in my vehicles... i also use it in my sons moped that calls for Premium fuel. I use the same ratio for the tank size and run regular pump gas 87 octane and the moped runs great. With just 87 octane it will die and run poorly. Thanks and hope to see a video with acetone.

Matthew Oltman

Thanks for the video idea. I'll check it out.

Project Farm LLC

How about trying Decalin RunUp, widely used in aviation engines. www.decalinchemicals.com

Chris Lowery

I viewed your test on Fuel/oil Additives with great interest.

Chris Lowery

Thank you for the test recommendation.

Project Farm LLC

please test Cerma SIC oil additive and their oil.

Noli Millar

I presume you are interested in testing used oil, correct? If so, I highly recommend using Blackstone labs for testing used oil samples. They have the test equipment to provide many more details regarding the health of the oil. Regarding new oil, I will be putting together a video series comparing different conventional and synthetics this winter and it should be an interesting series. Thanks again

Project Farm LLC

Hi Steve,

Project Farm LLC

Would you be interested in testing some oil samples for me for a fee?

Steve Pollard

Hi Todd,

Steve Pollard

This is a great video idea and I definitely plan to test it. I believe it will work. It might be necessary to mix in a little gasoline to thin out the used oil. Thanks again

Project Farm LLC

This is a great video idea--thank you!

Project Farm LLC

Suggestion: please test repairing stripped threads using Loctite Form-a-thread 28654. Please compare to using standard JB Weld and Hair Spray (containing PVA) and/or Meguiar's carnauba wax as a release agent. Please test on steel and aluminum.

Malcolm Beyer

Thank you for the great video ideas and thanks for the positive comments!

Project Farm LLC

I admire your thorough and methodical tests. I'd like to see (1) running an engine on wood gas (CO) instead of gasoline, and (2) how much anti-seize compounds or even plain oil interfere with proper torqueing of lug nuts, spark plugs, etc. Thanks for great channel.

Continental Breakfast

The additive that was most like pure motor oil would win. But if the public found the test convincing, you could make $$$ reselling regular oil under the name "oil additive" (for 4x your cost).

Continental Breakfast

I haven't tested this yet. Thanks for the video idea!

Project Farm LLC

Did you test what happens when you poured oil additive without engine oil. Lets say oil capacity is 4 liters - pour 4 liters of additives instead of engine oil. Oil additive can be any - lets say - LM Ceratec, Motorprotect, or STP additives etc. And compare among them - which work well without any engine oil.

Muhammad Adnan

Malcolm, There isn't a easy way to do so. Thank you very much for the offer.

Project Farm LLC

Is it possible to make a donation to Project Farm without committing to monthly charges?

Malcolm Beyer

Please test "Hard Engine Break-in" vs "Regular Engine break-in". There is a lot of discussion about "Hard Break-in" in the motorcycle and scooter forums. "Hard Break-in" primary advocate is "Motoman" <a href="http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm</a>

Malcolm Beyer

Hi Chris and greetings. This video idea seems fantastic! The phosphoric acid would seem to perform better than just water alone. Thanks again, Todd

Project Farm LLC

Hello from Scotland! WILL ATOMISED DIET COKE DE-COKE AN ENGINE? The combination of phosphoric acid and water, minus the sugar, sprayed into the carb, could be a useful cleaning additive. I would love to see this being tested. GREAT JOB, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Chris Middleton

David, Thank you very much for the link! I really enjoy putting together these videos and testing products to see what works best. Hopefully, it'll help save consumers time and money. Thanks again, Todd

Project Farm LLC

I haven't tried this yet. Thanks for the idea!
