I actually kinda like the style where you only render the main parts, in this case, the skin and do minimal shading for the other stuff. It kinda brings in the focus to the character as opposed to other stuff that doesn't really contribute to the piece.
Tbh, I also went with this style cause I'm still getting used to the brush parallax and speed of the new tablet I got. It's not bad but it's more intuitive and has less "control" for the lack of a better word, which I'm not used to in a drawing tablet. Sketching on this tablet is super fun because of that but I still have to get used to painting with it!
