New corruption mechanic poll
Added 2023-06-06 17:00:06 +0000 UTCAs I mentioned in the development plans for V0.1.4, there will be a new corruption mechanic included for the corruption of the Demon Queen's general. This same mechanic will also be used for the Demon Queen herself, her other general, the goddesses you corrupt later in the game, and two other characters that will be revealed at a later date.
This mechanic has been an often requested one, and I feel like it would work with the characters I want to use it on. The mechanic will be entering the mind of the character you are corrupting to influence it directly.
This poll, is to determine how involved it should be. More specifically, if it should be a linear section with no challenge or chance for failure, or something with a challenge or puzzle.
If it is a linear section, it would be something that can be quick for the player to run through, and less involved, allowing players to run through it to see the rest of the content, but also might be considered less interesting by some.
If there was a challenge/puzzle, I might be able to make more interesting insight to the character's thought patterns, and how your influence grows over them, but there will also be a chance of failing, and might be slightly more time consuming for the player.
Development time won't be too impacted by either choice, only a few hours at most, so you only need to consider what sounds better from a player's perspective. For what the challenge would be, it almost certainly won't be combat related, but instead involving making choices/solving puzzles centered around what option would best fit with that characters mindset to get them to be more open to serving you/accepting being corrupted. In a linear section, you would still see the same "right answer" content, but would be unable to see things like what wouldn't work, and have slightly less insight into her thoughts and your influence.

Fully support Choices and Puzzles - personally I enjoy feeling like I've earnt it, and if there are choices, whether that be various different changes to the characters - and conseqences of those choices - then I'm all for it, lets the players get more involved rather than just straight up dialogue that the linear option provides.
