Doki Doki Vacation updates - Jan 13th 2023

Tango date: Friday the 13th, 2023. The Doki Doki situation is getting out of control. 

My PC is now rebuilt, all files have been transferred, and I have discovered the power of using Text to Speech to make short update videos.  

I had recently been covering the video game Doki Doki Vacation, thinking it'd be the typical short article I'm known for, but... I may have developed an obsession. This is turning into a full-on project, as I have to translate the game while I play it. It turns out that it takes quite some time to translate a visual novel. 

It's bringing me back to a time when I made screenshot-based 'Let's Plays' under a pseudonym. I'm getting the hankering to dive back into that route. Not just showcasing video games, but deep-diving into all the lore behind them.  

This has led me to make sure I get as much information as possible to share in fun ways, and my goodness, I have a lot of translating to do.  

First up: A history of Cocktail Soft, the company that made Doki Doki Vacation. This one isn't too bad. It's more as reference material for future games. 

Next: A Doki Doki Vacation art book. I thought it'd just be imagery, but it has many really interesting character profiles and a short guide on the game progression, which is an excellent bonus! 

But that's all tiny compared to my final discovery. I've bought a novelisation. A young adult novel adaptation of a hentai game. I never even knew these existed, but it appears there are dozens of them from the PC-98 era, and my goodness, I need them in my life. Now, I'm not only going to have to translate the game for myself, but the book too... and that's going to take some time.
