2024 is almost over, and so is the first season of Tekken 8 DLC characters. As of this writing, we have no idea who the final entrant into the roster will be. But fear not- its mere days before we all finally find out this long-awaited secret, as the identity of the Mystery Character will be revealed during this year's Game Awards. So- who will it be? Of course, this being my list, all of my guesses are hot babes (barefoot-able babes at that).
Everyone and their mom has one name on their lips- Tifa Lockhart. Yep, the best girl in Final Fantasy 7, the gorgeous bartender of Seventh Heaven in Midgar, has long been requested, asked and begged by fans to join the ranks of Tekken. It seems so cut and dried- Tifa is gorgeous, a mega-popular character in gaming AND is a hand-to-hand, melee combatant and martial artist. She is actually a perfect fit for Tekken, arguably more so than the magic and weapon-wielding Noctis, who guested into Tekken 7 despite being more a fit for Soul Calibur. Bringing in Tifa to Tekken 8 is almost a guaranteed win for everyone involved- gamers get their kickass waifu, Bamco gets to rake in big bucks with the DLC sales and Square Enix gets the final chapter of FFVII Remake a lot of promotion. But despite all that, it's still not a lock. Why not put in Tifa? Hell would I know, but then- who can predict or comprehend the thoughts in the mid of these insane weirdos known as game developers.
How about a World Warrior? Tekken has crossed with the world of Streetfighter before, with Akuma becoming part of Tekken lore in Tekken 7. How about we see one of the Streetfighter Ladies join Tekken? Yeah, Chun-Li is joining Fatal Fury City of the Wolves next year, so cross her off the list. Instead, how about another babe, who has proven to be mega popular and has legions of fans pining over the ground she walks on? I'm talking of course about Juri Han. The Taekwondo Vixen has been one of the most popular characters in SF since her debut back in SFIV. Despite the obvious, Juri has more than just Foot Appeal. She's an interesting character, going from villain to wildcard to anti-hero. Perhaps eventually she'll be redeemed and become an actual protagonist, but hopefully she'll always keep her edge and bad girl streak. If she appeared in Tekken, maybe she's looking for more power to strengthen her Feng Shuei Engine to defeat the resurgent M.Bison. Her taekwondo fighting style converted to the Tekken pace would be an interesting take on the martial art, and she certainly can do over the top moves with all the rest of the Tekken crew.
Still on the SF train, if not the Spider, how about the Killer Bee? Another gorgeous lady and mega-popular World Warrior- in fact, Cammy is easily the sexiest overall female fighter in the entire Streetfighter series. She's got swagger, smolder and speedy kicks, and she loves wrapping her thighs around her opponents' heads. Chun-Li's already taken by SNK, so why not let Bamco get Cammy White for Tekken?
We shouldn't be limited to just SF. How about other Capcom titles- like Resident Evil? Jill Valentine has proven to be super popular and she definitely deserves to be seen more (especially when she may be the heroine of the next RE Game). Jill has seen a lot of action and changes, which has apparently given her immunity to the T-Virus, youth and vigor and probably enhanced fighting ability seeing as how she did some pretty impressive gymnastics in Resident Evil 5. Guns aren't against the rules in Tekken these days, so Jill could be a hybrid of Victor's style, using her trusty pistol, knife and when the chips are down, a rocket launcher. Hell, why not a giant experimental railgun for her Rage Art?
If not Jill, then why not another no-brainer kickass RE Hottie... Ada Wong. She's can kick, flip and shoot with the best of them, and she's gorgeous, mysterious and a proven draw. This lady is certainly not the Wong choice to make for a possible Guest Character for Tekken (yeah, I made that joke).
Moving away from Streetfighter, Capcom and even the fighting genre, how about a babe from one of the most critically-acclaimed RPG's around today? I'm talking a magical beauty who has cast a spell on gamers and made them love her on sight. I'm talking Shadowheart from Baldur's Gate 3. This half-elven cleric might not strike one as a martial artist- at least, not unless you turn her into a monk. But we've seen that she can scrap and brawl, even if she misses her target most of the time. Well, if she levels up with the proper build, she can kick ass and always looks great doing it. How her fighting style would be is an open question. Maybe she can use a monk's martial art skills, and call on her diety's spells to wield a spiritual hammer. I dunno- she will surely look great KO'ed after a match at least. But you'd ask- why would Shart appear in Tekken when she's from the fantasy world of Faerun? Ask the DM.
These are just a few guesses flying around my head- and who knows, maybe one of them will be the One- probably Tifa. But hey, I'd love to have any of the others I've mentioned to appear in Tekken 8. We'll all see in a few days. So... who is your guess for Tekken 8's Final Season 1 DLC Fighter? Throw your guesses in the comments and lets see who guesses best!
